Come enjoy a getaway in a vibrant community of artists and gardeners. Your room is a quiet retreat but still close to downtown. Come wander through the woods and enjoy the creek! We live and farm here full-time and have two dogs who do bark in the evening, so this is a good fit for those who enjoy spaces that feel warm and lived-in. You have full kitchen and shared space access if desired, but be aware we are sometimes short on counter space! We would love to host you in our comfy home!

The space
The house: We are an eclectic bunch of friendly and welcoming people. Eric and Griffin live in the house and will be your primary hosts, but work during the day and will be happy to chat or give you space. Michael and Gina are frequently home during the day so you may see them during your stay. We have goats and chickens, and we have two large friendly dogs who guard them from predators. They live outside in a fenced area, but may occasionally be roaming free with us outside or in the house during your stay. They bark pretty frequently between 7-9 pm and around 8 am in the morning. Otherwise they bark intermittently during the day. At night they sleep in a little barn, so they don't bark very much and it's not very loud when they do. Please note we are a working farm! We are actively undertaking habitat restoration work and it's not always pretty to see. For instance, we have black plastic garbage bags with invasive species in them that are set in the sun to kill the seeds. We also may have chicks in the house when you come. We always have a project or two going on, and the house is clean, but typically cluttered. It's not a magazine-cover house! But it is budget-friendly, cozy, and well-loved.

The room: Is all yours, quiet, and tucked away, with a beautiful view. It has 1 queen bed. We are friendly but respect your space and privacy. HEPA air filters and fans are available.

In the winter we keep the house in the low 60s at night and the high 60s during the day. In the summer we keep it mid-70s. If temperature is a concern please message ahead of time to discuss.

Guest access
The whole house except bedrooms is available for you to use. The land is seven acres with a path down to a babbling brook. You are welcome to wander all over it and take advantage of miles of hiking trails in West Rock State Park, 2 minutes away. The kitchen and dining room are frequently in use but you are also more than welcome to use them! Condiments, spices, and coffee are available at all times; other than that please ask. We will be happy to share staples, food, and eggs from our chickens with you, and there's fridge space if desired as well.

Other things to note
We are a working hobby farm and habitat restoration center. We do our best to keep common spaces neat, but we live here fully and have lots of projects going on, so please don't expect the house to look like a magazine spread -- we'll all be disappointed. If you are looking for a budget-friendly retreat with a laid-back vibe, this is the spot for you!

We have a few goats and an enclosed coop of chickens. We also have two large, gentle, friendly outside dogs. They have their own little pasture next to the goats and chickens, but we sometimes have them inside in the evenings or walk with them off-leash around the property.

NO CHORES ARE EXPECTED -- that's the benefit of a host who lives here. We take care of the linens and cleaning, plus any other concerns you may have.

You will have a very large room and a private bathroom. The window by the desk overlooks my beehives. You can easily walk down the quiet sidewalk to Whitney Avenue where you'll find restaurants, bars, and public transportation. Two miles to Quinnipiac and Sleeping Giant State Park, a short drive or bus ride to downtown New Haven.

The space
You will be comfortable in this very spacious room with three windows and a large desk. You will have a private bathroom. There is a mini-fridge, microwave, tea kettle (and honey from my hives), and coffee maker in your room. This is appropriate for a short-term stay as laundry and kitchen are not available. My house is on a quiet side street, an easy walk to restaurants, pharmacy, post office, and more. The bus is right at the end of the road to take you into New Haven. About two miles to the Quinnipiac Mt. Carmel Campus, three miles to the York Hill Campus, and a very short ride to the QU Medical School on the North Haven Campus.

I am a puppy raiser for Guiding Eyes for the Blind - I will have a puppy (Black or Yellow Labrador Retriever) anywhere between 8 weeks and 16 months. She is usually leashed or crated, always sweet, not always well-mannered (but always working on it).

Guest access
The rental is a very large bedroom with a full size desk and office chair. There is a private bathroom. A mini-fridge, microwave, tea kettle, and coffee maker are in the room. Kitchen and laundry are not part of the rental. I do not rent to smokers - it is not just no smoking - it is NO SMOKERS.

Other things to note
There is on-street parking. Make a U-turn at the stop sign and park between the corner and the driveway or between the driveway and the next driveway. If it snows you will need to shovel your car out (I have shovels).

The space
Several steps up the front door - second floor bedroom (one queen sized bed). It’s a quiet room, with a comfortable mattress. Plenty of storage space. As a corner room, there’s privacy, and good natural light too!

Guest access
Shared porch, backyard, pool, front living room, and second floor bathroom. Long term stays (6 days or more) can expect shared kitchen and laundry!

During your stay
Interaction is as much or as minimal as you’d like! I will let you in and show you my home, then get comfortable and connect with me as needed!

Please note that we have a friendly hypoallergenic kitten that will greet you, though anyone with severe allergies to cats are not encouraged to book. He is the sweetest kitty you’ll ever meet!

A connected spa-like private bath features an oversized shower & claw foot soaking tub. It's an ideal retreat for writers, artists, & nature lovers. While kitchen and common areas of our home aren't shared, seasonal outdoor spaces are. We're known for our great morning coffee. Come stay with us and see! We welcome guests 21 and over.

The space
Spots for your enjoyment on our property include a covered front porch with rockers & second story back deck with dining table and umbrella. There are several stone sitting benches in lovingly maintained gardens where you can bird watch and catch other forms of wildlife that pass through. We're a five minute walk to a town maintained pond with great hiking/mountain biking trails!

Guest access
Guests enjoy a private parking spot adjacent to the road. There are a few steps to descend from that spot to our front door. If you need help with baggage or easier access, please let us know in advance of your stay!

During your stay
We love, love, love sharing our special place with guests!

We are a couple who mostly work from home with a young adult child who is more out and about than around. We welcome requests to make your accommodations as comfortable as possible and are here as guides to the surrounding area. We'll be sure to respect your needs for quiet and privacy and balance that with opportunities to say hello and share a friendly chat.

Little details are important to us. You will find fresh flowers, chocolate and good coffee/tea (on request) are a part of your Airbnb experience here. Seasonally, the gardens are spectacular! There are many spots on the property that have a sanctuary-like feel.

A large room with a walk in closet in a truly unique 1930's Arts and Crafts home with much of the original detail including built in craftsman woodwork and river stone fireplace. There is an expansive front porch, large back deck and large gated garden. The room is set in the back of the house with a view of the garden and very quiet at night.

The space
The ground floor consists of large living room with too large couches. The dining room has a very large table and built in cabinets. The full size kitchen opens out into the deck and garden. The room available is large with a king size bed, walk in closet and near the full bathroom.

Enjoy our Mount Carmel private suite with garden views! Adjacent to Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, this location has the best of both nature and city life. Right by Sleeping Giant, Quinnipiac, New Haven. Our unique ranch-style house has a separate entry for the guest rooms, with dedicated front door access. Bedroom w/ King bed with room for an airbed. *Fridge *Coffee Maker *Microwave *Kettle *TV *Iron *Parking Spaces *Spotless Bedroom & Bathroom. The property is OWNER OCCUPIED at all times.

The space
Unique room with built-in library/workspace, and tons of storage, featuring a full private bathroom, and plenty of space. The room faces the backyard and the trail beyond, it's cozy and super quiet. There's a TV, a mini-fridge, coffee maker, microwave, water kettle, iron&ironing board, and hairdryer in the room.
Located on an (in-law unit type) section of my house, the room is one of two bedrooms that share their own entrance from the outside.

Guest access
-We can accommodate up to two cars in our driveway.

-No backyard access. Feel free to use the front yard picnic table by the entry.

-No guests other than the names disclosed in the reservation are allowed on the premises.

During your stay
I'll be available by phone/text during your visit to accommodate your needs.

Other things to note
-We carefully clean ALL surfaces between stays and don’t wear shoes inside. Please leave your shoes at the vestibule shoe rack. We clean the floors & wash the rugs regularly.

-Please let us know if you have allergies to scented cleaning products & air fresheners and we’ll make sure to exclude them from your room prep routine.

-Eating & drinking is not allowed in the bed.

-No smoking & drinking alcohol of any kind on the premises.

-We can provide an extra set of sheets for extended stays of 30 days and more upon request.

-Please be mindful of the quiet hours after 10 pm.
