This home has a unique history of early Americana. The property was originally built in 1860 as a button factory. Early American fashions of the late 1700's to mid-1800's required many buttons on both male and female garments. Buttons were even essential to underwear, shoes, corsets and women's basque waist. Buttons of the time period were made of ivory, bone, shell, wood, stone, glass, whale bone or animal horn. This property was originally built as a factory, producing and selling buttons to clothiers of the Guilford and CT shoreline area. This property was perfectly situated As we had a wedding in Branford and did not want to pay for three hotel rooms! It is well located, only a few minutes walk to the town center in Guilford. Comfortable and Well-Appointed Accommodations
The mid-century house accommodates up to four guests across three bedrooms: one with a full/queen bed and half-bath, a second queen bedroom with desk, and a third with a single bed desk, and Smart TV. Each bedroom has large closets, 100% cotton linens, duvets, and comfortable bedding. The main bathroom includes both a shower and a tub. Our sunlit living room boasts a rose granite wood-burning fireplace, an Eames lounge chair, fast 5G WiFi, Xfinity cable package, and an Amazon Echo for music. The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary cooking essentials, but please note there is no dishwasher. Laundry facilities are conveniently located on the main floor. We have a charcoal grill and electric weber, off the side of the deck.

The 700 sq. foot walkout basement offers a lightly furnished space with a 43" Smart TV, a bar, and access to an outdoor patio.

Travel and Accessibility
Our location is only a mile from Guilford Green and a minute’s drive to the Shoreline East train station, with connections to New Haven, New York City, and Boston. We welcome one well-behaved dog, making our cottage a great choice for pet owners.

We chose it for the location, close to the beach and to Indian Cove where we had family staying. And the description was true about seeing and hearing many birds!! But this home was so comfortable, accommodating and well equipped that it deserves extra kudos! The beds were lovely with nice comforters and super clean rooms. The bathrooms had space to put stuff in the exact right place. There were plugs everywhere to plug in and charge, and the Wi-Fi worked great! In the kitchen had all the pots and pans, sharp knives, serving stuff and spices and sweeteners we could want and not just one but two types of coffee makers. The deck was a lovely place to hang out as the yard was shady most of the day. At night there was a nicely lit path to follow. We brought a dog and there were a couple of surprises for our furry friend. The yard is pretty much fenced in, as is the deck. So we didn’t have to worry about him getting out into the busy street. They had posted the vet and the hospital numbers and rules about pets in different places. In short, if you are looking for family getaway I’d highly recommend the Birders Paradise!"

Stroll along the loop trail in our backyard woods, hike in acres of beautiful woods in "Westwoods" next door, visit the town green with lovely shops, swim at Jacobs beach, have s'mores by the natural stone fire pit, or relax and get some sun by the marine-blue, stone decked pool area with flower garden! Birdwatching, breakfast, yoga, and evening cocktails are best on the spacious wrap-around deck. We also have an incredible library, fireplaces, and even a baby grand piano!

The space
The inside of Treetops is spectacular, where classic and modern styles blend. Antiques are plentiful but so too are modern paintings, sculptures, and other unique art. Our love of indigenous cultures will be obvious, and we don't shy away from colors as well! Beautiful, lush plants give the house a welcoming, homey feel.

Treetops has vaulted ceilings, and an open and spacious floor plan. There is a great kitchen with new appliances, a two-person breakfast nook, and an oversized dining area and living room overlooking the oversized deck mentioned above. Perfect for social gatherings of all kinds! Plentiful windows and slider doors flood the house in sunlight and fresh breezes.

The large living room has a top-of-the-line stereo system, CDs, large Smart TV, impressive fieldstone fireplace, and extensive library. Grab a book and recline on the new sofa while listening to some classical music! From there, walk into the master bedroom with more windows and wooded views, TV with DVD player and huge selection of movies, walk-out deck, and walk-in closet. The tiled bathroom has two sinks, a jetted tub for easing sore muscles, and a great shower/showerhead, with some basic amenities available for your stay.
Then walk into the "Blue" room, a bedroom with 1 Twin bed and 1 Full bed overlooking the driveway with bureau, bedside table, and bookshelves. Guests in this room will share the master bathroom for bathing but can also use the half bathroom near the front entrance.

A hallway then leads to the newly appointed den, with new TV, sofas, and a second beautiful fieldstone fireplace. There are games and coloring books available in the cabinet.

Across from the den and off the main entrance is the "Yellow" room. It too is newly renovated and has a Full bed, large built-in desk overlooking the pool, views galore, and a cozy reading nook that can also double as a second place to sleep.

Upstairs are two bedrooms, "The Queen", with a queen-size bed, and "The Twins" with -- you guessed it -- 2 twin beds. Both rooms have bureaus, bedside tables, one or two oversized windows, sound machines, fans, and their own full bathroom. You are really in the treetops up here! Enjoy your stay.

Nightly rate is for 6 guests. additional guests are 60 dollars a night.

We are near some railroad tracks and a few times a day, mostly morning and evening, trains go by. You will definitely hear them if you are awake, but we have never been bothered by them when sleeping.

The Pool is scheduled to be available between Memorial Day and Labor Day weather permitting.

This is a 2-bedroom, 1-bath ranch perfect for your summer getaway. The house is on a very quiet cul-de-sac, yet only minutes from Rt 1 in Guilford, the fabulous Town Green, shopping, movies and of course.... THE BEACH! The town marina has a boat launch if you have the luxury of bringing a boat on vacation with you. Lots of great shops, restaurants, summer fairs and concerts too! The house has a kitchen, living room, dining room, family room with television, 1 queen size bedroom and 1 bedroom with two twin beds.
There is a screen enclosed front porch. There is a large deck overlooking the backyard and the West River. There is also a patio table and umbrella and Weber gas grill.

Although the house is a ranch, the family room is on a lower level (3-4 steps down).

Make sure you bring your binoculars to view the large variety of summer birds out on the marsh, including bald eagles, red-tail hawks and herons.
Lots of great clamming areas including Trolley Road, Chaffinch Island, Grass Island and Shell Beach.

The primary bedroom has a king size romantic farmhouse wrought iron bed. The en-suite bath features a high-end Bain Ultra Hydro - Thermo Massage free standing tub which features a heated back rest and heated water circulation pump, so the water remains at a constant comfort temperature. A large custom walk in shower and a double sink vanity completes this luxurious en-suite bath.

Bedroom #2 has a king bed and a 1/2 bath en-suite.

Bedroom #3 has a queen bed.

Bedroom #4 has a queen bed.

Hall bath has a walk-in shower.

There is a pillow selection available, extra blanket and towels.

Outdoor space
There is a large deck with a dining table that seats 8, overlooking the river, with a Weber grill for all the grill masters.
A propane fire pit is near the deck or walk down to the river front park area, where there is a picnic table and a wood fire pit for your use.

With advance notice we will be happy to provide a crib or mini crib, pack and play, high chair and baby bath tub.

There are two exterior stairs to access house, once inside house there are 5 stairs to access the complete 2nd floor (main level on bi-level house).

You will have complete access to the 2nd floor (main level on bi-level house).
On occassion, lower level maybe rented to a traveling nurse/physician. During these times only outdoor space will be shared (this would be riverfront and fire ring area, all other areas are exclusively yours to enjoy). All entrances are separate and private for that particular unit.

Primary Guest must provide there full legal name to book. Maximum Stay is limited to 14 days. No 3rd party bookings allowed. All guests must be registered prior to check in. Primary guest must have 2 positive reviews to book. No gathering allowed other than registered guests.

For Guest Safety-
Please do not disable or tamperwith smoke / CO detectors.

No smoking, vaping, e-cigarettes, candles, or fires inside house or on property. A small contained fire is permissable in the fire pit only by the river. We have been on a high drought alert in Connecticut since summer of 2024. Please message us prior to use of fire pit or camp fire due to fire mashshal restrictions.

For safety please only use outdoor dinnerware and plastic wine glasses and cups. They are provided in kitchen area for our guests.

We understand accidents happen, please report any breakage or damage before check out so we may repair or replace for our next guests.

Outdoor Music is fine, please keep it low enough not to disturb neighbors. Music/noise must be minimal by 9pm weeknights and 10pm on weekends.

Please remove shoes upon entering house. No rearranging of furniture.

While we love animals, no pets are allowed due to allergies of future guests. If a guest chooses to disregard policy, we will terminate reservation immediately without refund. Primary booking guest will be charged a mandatory $500 deep cleaning fee. Any damages will be charged to primary booking guest.

Of course we welcome ADA certified animals, however we do request if possible please refrain allowing them on bedding or furniture (or cover). Ada animals must be with there owner 100% of the stay. Animals must be cleaned up after. Disturbance or barking to neighbors or others in house will result in termination of the remaining reservation without refund. Primary booking guest is respnsible fr any damages.

Very close to picturesque Stony Creek and Guilford--historic towns in Connecticut. Great restaurants; Gorgeous oceanside Hammonasset State Park in neighboring Madison, CT--and nature preserve. And a quick trip into New Haven where you can visit the Yale campus along seeing award winning architecture.

This guest house is beautifully sited and designed by STUDIOATE; an architectural firm formed by two Yale Architecture graduates.

The guest house has a private bedroom with a King size tempeurpedic bed; high ceilings; Modern Bath with beautiful fixtures and shower; heated floor and heated towel rack; large glass windows and doors. A gorgeous Front Deck overlooks a pond.

The guest house is equipped with a TV, AC/Heat; full bedding; towels; a kitchenette that includes a small undercounter refrigerator; sink, french press with delicious coffee; hot water pot; microwave; cups, glasses, plates and bowls, and flatware. (There are no cooking facilities in the guest house.)

The guest house is located at the back of a 3 acre property with its own driveway and parking. Guests have access to a beautiful setting overlooking a vernal pond and very private with stone walls that surround the guest house.

There are things to do year round here. Summer is full of beach activity; hiking; sightseeing architecture tours; The winter light is stunning in the morning. Also--close by Hammonnasset State Park is a special place for walks throughout the year--with a wonderful Nature Center. Snowy owls; hawks and winter birds are abundant.se is unique.

Three bedrooms, a den/office (with a pull-out couch), laundry room, sunroom with skylights, and a private master bathroom make space for multiple guests. Enjoy an additional guest bathroom complete with Japanese soaking tub, rain shower, and heated towel rack. The house has been newly upgraded with central air-conditioning, fans in all the bedrooms, on-demand hot water, all new windows and doors, and solar panels. Also, a 40A Level-2 EV charger is available for an additional fee.

A lush yard provides grass underfoot and flowers all summer long, and features a newly-installed patio with a Weber barbecue and fire pit. Bask in the sunny front yard while watching birds zip overhead, or stroll beneath the forest canopy in search of frogs and dragonflies. The animal life is vibrant, so keep an eye out for deer, fox, wild turkeys, squirrels, owls, ospreys, and chipmunks. At night, marvel at the panorama of twinkling fireflies, accompanied by a harmonious chorus of crickets and frogs.

Between forest, marsh, and seaside, the area offers a wealth of contrasts. A ten-minute walk takes you to Chaffinch Island Park, where trees give way to seaside wetlands, and the sound of forest life is replaced by the calls of osprey and other seabirds. The park offers picnic tables, grills, tidal pools, and a long stretch of sandy beach. Days can be spent watching boats go in and out of the Guilford Yacht Club, or dipping your toes in the cool seawater. Bring your own paddle board or kayak, and you can slide right in the water for a lap around Guilford Harbor or up the West River.
Take another short stroll to Barbara Pine Memorial Park, and you’ll find a secluded sand beach and astonishing views of the water.

The space
On top of the many bedrooms, there are 3 sitting rooms (two with fire places) and a large deck leading to the pool and hot tub, providing plenty of space for people to relax. The large kitchen has a microwave, wine fridge, ice machine, gas stove and kitchen table with incredible coastal views. A Deluxe Weber propane grill can also be found on the screened in porch.

Guest access
All rooms that are open are accessible. A large cupboard of children's toys is situated in the TV room for anyone to enjoy.

Interaction with guests
We provide a house keeper twice a week to give the house a clean and make sure you have everything you need.

We can offer a pack and play and high chair and have a blow up bed should you want to fit in one more guest.

Other things to note:
The house is seasonally spectacular. Over the July 4th holiday watch the fireworks over the water all along Long Island and all along the CT shoreline from the comfort of the master balcony. It is a night like no other!

Just a 5 minute walk from the house you'll find a beautiful peninsula to dip your feet in the sea and a beach go clamming off or explore for shells.

My wife and I have lived in Guilford all of our lives. Guilford has it all. Visit our historic town green lined with quaint shops or hike through many miles of trails that run throughout town. If you want to wander further away there is much to do throughout Connecticut and we are about 3 hrs from Boston, 2.5 hours from the Cape, 2 hrs from NYC, less than an hour from Hartford and Bradley Airport and less than half an hour from New Haven and Tweed Airport. This one bedroom efficiency basement level apartment offers a private entrance and patio. The apartment borders 300 acres of woods, yet is a short walk to 2 beaches. Quiet, yet close to everything. The kitchen area has a sink, microwave, tea kettle, small refrigerator, toaster oven, and coffee maker. The living/family room is large and we offer free wifi, ROKU tv, and air conditioning. Enjoy sitting in your own private patio and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. Short walk to 2 beaches, one public and one private. The beautiful State Hammonasset State Park Beach and Park is a 15 minute drive away. Hiking trails are close by.

The Historical Guilford Green is a 15 minute bike ride away, or if you're up for a beautiful coastline, Route 146 to Stony Creek is a 30 minute ride.

Private walkway from the driving area leads you to the garden/walk-out basement level apartment. You are welcome to use the yard, outdoor shower, and one parking space in the driveway.

Beach chairs, beach towels, and umbrella are provided. We have a beach cart and wagon for your use as well.

The space
1 bedroom apartment in the historic town of Guilford. The place is equipped with a full kitchen, dining area, living room with TV, full bathroom, and a queen-sized bed. The futon in the living room can be pulled out to accommodate one more guest. The apartment is attached to a larger house where my parents live, but has its own entrance. Parking is available in the driveway. The pool is open for your enjoyment during the summer months. The hot tub is available year-round.

Please note that the patio/pool/hot tub area is shared with the main house. Weather dependent, the pool is typically open after Memorial Day until Labor Day. If you enjoy hiking, there are marked trails behind the property.

Guests will have access to a private apartment with central air conditioning/heat, a full kitchen (electric stove, microwave, fridge, Keurig coffee/tea maker, electric coffee pot, French Press coffee pot), dining area, living room with TV (cable & wifi) and piano, full bathroom, and a queen-sized bed. A futon in the living room can be pulled out to accommodate one more. The apartment is attached to a larger house where my parents live, but has its own entrance. We also offer an iron and ironing board, off-street parking, hiking trails, a pool during the summer months, and BBQ year-round.

Your health and safety is important to us. We’re closely monitoring the guidance of local health officials and the CDC on a rolling basis. We are currently taking the following safety precautions to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

We’ve intensified routine cleaning procedures to ensure the apartment is more deeply disinfected. We have added a cleaning fee to reflect the additional cleaning procedures during this time.

The apartment has a private entrance off the driveway and is closed off to the attached main house.

Use of the pool, hot tub, and grill will be coordinated so there is no overlap with the hosts who live on site. Just let us know when you’d like to use the pool or grill.

The shared outdoor patio will have designated areas for guest use only. The patio is large enough for maintaining social distance around the pool.

Unfortunately guests may no longer access the laundry room, as it is a tight space that is used frequently by those in the main house. We can provide laundry detergent if you need to wash any clothes by hand.

Our home is a socially distant place surrounded by nature. We will keep host interaction to an absolute minimum, but will always be available by phone or text if you need anything.

You will have access to the whole cottage, which is attached to my family home, with a separate drive, entrance and deck. It has just been renovated to a high standard and now boasts an 8x8 deck, a 16x16 patio with comfy chairs and a propane fire pit as well as a 4 person hot tub.
