- "Clean quiet cabin on an exceptionally clear lake. Great for relaxing, swimming, kayaking and fishing. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys water activities with their family. Nice restaurants and shopping close by." - "This lake cottage was perfect for our family of four for nearly two weeks this summer. By the end of our stay, the house truly felt like home. Jane was a wonderful host who was very responsive. The house itself is older and has some wear, but honestly this adds to its charm (save for a few issues that were promptly addressed). Our family also fell in love with Alexander Lake, and hope to return next summer. The lake is peaceful and wonderful for swimming and kayaking. The house has no AC but we were hardly ever without a wonderful breeze coming off the lake, and rarely got hot. The grill does need some attention- we could only ever get one burner to light which made it a bit hard to cook out. Overall, my only hesitation in writing this review is concern that the house will become harder and harder to book. We already plan on returning next summer. ❤️"

Imagine staying in a house in Colonial Williamsburg, or OldSturbridge Village. The Little House at Jericho is an early American historic pre-1800 guesthouse behind my farmhouse located on the Abington side of Pomfret, Connecticut, in a secluded storybook location on 145 acres of preserved land adjacent to the Airline Trail, the Wolf Den State Forest, Mashomoquet State Park and the New England Forestry Foundation's Chase Kimball Memorial Forest. This nature preserve is suitable for bird-watching from the deck over-looking the pond or at the Audubon Society's Grasslands preserved sanctuary nearby, for long walks on the private trails in the woods (with direct access to the Airline Trail), cross-country skiing, tennis on the court, fishing in either or both of two ponds, or just for a place to get away from it all in a private nature sanctuary. Use of the tennis court is allowed, but hunting is strictly prohibited, as is use of any off-road vehicles. It is ideal for an artist or writer’s retreat.

The Little House is a unique historic property that has been lovingly preserved by eight generations of the same family who have lived at Jericho since 1814. It is the birthplace of the famous industrialist and philanthropist, Augustus Sabin Chase, of Waterbury Connecticut fame (see Waterbury Hall of Fame, where he, his son, and one of his granddaughters are honored). This antique house has one slightly larger downstairs and two small upstairs bedrooms, a spacious living/dining room with a huge granite fireplace, and can sleep up to four people. Furnished with period country antiques, guests feel transported into the 18th century, until they slide back a door to find a modern kitchen with a view over an orchard and pond from a large deck, and an updated bathroom. It is not suitable for the disabled or for very large people, because it is a pre-1800 house with small period furnishings and is not wheelchair-accessible.

The house is hypo-allergenic, and bedsheets are 100% cotton, laundered at high temperatures and ironed. Therefore, no pets or smoking are permitted.

Jericho is situated close to Pomfret and Rectory Schools, Woodstock Academy and half an hour from Marianapolis Prep School, as well as close to the numerous scenic drives, destination restaurants, antique stores and boutiques in Windham County. This historic little house is nestled in the forest, at the end of a long straight dirt town road , far from the stress of daily life, but with private trails to hike and only a short drive from Old Sturbridge Village and Mystic Seaport. It is also close to the Connecticut Audubon Center’s Grasslands Sanctuary, Pomfret Forest (NEMBA-maintained mountain biking destination), Goodwin Conservation Center in Hampton and several state parks and forests ideal for hiking and bicycling. It is less than an hour's drive from Hartford, Providence and Worcester and only a 20 minute drive from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. Boston is 90 miles Northeast and New York City 150 miles Southwest.

Built in 1932, we have enjoyed updating the Carriage House and have plans for even more renovations in the future. One of our best friends describes it as "Pilgrim Chic." It's simple, clean, and got all the basics you need. We're excited to welcome you!

We live in the main house. While the two buildings are close, we are committed to maintaining your privacy and ours. We are a fully vaccinated household.

This community has the best rural life has to offer--from ridge-top orchards (just up the road!) to trails around the mill ponds to watching horses and cattle graze. All the sights and sounds of small town life that people love are here--from kids playing in their yards to roosters welcoming the dawn. We live in the historic village of East Killingly. With homes built from the mid-19th century to today, the lots are tight--like you'd expect from an era before cars!

The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans and other cooking utensils which made meal prep very easy. The owners live on the property and were very respectful of my privacy. The studio is a short drive to downtown Putnam where you can walk around, have a meal, or sit in the park. Really charming place."

This is an 1800s saltbox replica with large windows overlooking pine, oak, and red maple trees, as well as a wall that shows off the foundation stones. The in-law studio has a private entrance on the ground floor with a small private deck, full double-sink bathroom with a unique spa-like shower, a coffee maker, a water bubbler, a microwave/air fryer, and refrigerator. There is one queen bed with a very comfortable bamboo mattress and down duvet. The kitchenette area has a table that can double as a place to work remotely (with great wifi). There is a large closet, as well as a cozy couch where you can watch Netflix and live TV, or look out at the beautiful scenery. You also have private access to a grill. The (unheated) pool and hot tub are surrounded by trees and are accessible 24 hours (pool is open April-October). The three-floor barn is home to chickens, ducks, goat, sheep, a mini horse, and pigs, our animal rescues through our small non-profit, The Farmette Sanctuary.

This is a great place to rest and rejuvenate during your stay while never leaving the property (Doordash delivers!), or take advantage of the many things to do nearby - go on a hike at the Thompson dam or a local state park, visit Old Sturbridge Village (the largest living museum in the Northeast), or listen to live music at a brewery or pub.

My wife, dogs (Bentley, Sparkle, and Polly), and I live on the other floors of the house and love welcoming folks to our space. We are happy to give you a tour and share about the property, or give you space to have a private getaway.

You will have private access to the studio. The unheated pool, hot tub, garden, barn, and trail are shared use.

Hosts live on the main/second floor and will be around and available to answer questions or help as needed.

There is no lifeguard on duty. The pool area is gated off - please exercise caution and safety and swim/enjoy the hot tub at your own risk. Note that the wood planks around the pool are wobbly, please walk carefully and use caution as you enter/exit the pool. Additionally, please use extreme caution if using the outdoor rock steps to get to the studio entrance (please note that there is only one step if you enter by the garage side).

Please be sure to include in your booking if you will bring a child or a pet with you on your visit. We set up the space slightly differently if we are expecting children or dogs, and it’s important for us to know who is staying in our home. Please note there is a $50 pet fee and we have a Pack and Play available for young children.

Please note there is no stovetop in the space - no stovetop cooking is allowed as there is no exhaust fan in the kitchenette. You have private access to an outdoor grill, and a cast iron skillet and saucepan are provided for your use on the grill as well as oil, salt, pepper, and basic cooking utensils. Be sure to use the oven mit when holding the handles as they get very HOT on the grill. Dirty dishes can be placed in the basket and left outside if you would like us to wash them overnight (please inform us if you would like this service. You can also wash them using the dish soap provided in the bathroom).

The Farmette is in a Rural Residential Agricultural District. That means there's a local mix of residences and farms (livestock and agriculture). While you get a rural feel, we're only a few minute drive away from grocery stores, shops, etc.

Guests will need a car as there is no local public transportation. The farmette is only 3 minutes from Exit 50 off of interstate 395, so you can quickly get to Thompson center, Putnam, or Webster (grocery stores, Target, restaurants, etc within 10-15 min). There is plenty of parking space available on the farmette, including for trailers.

- "My stay at this rental was deeply unsettling and unsafe. The apartment itself has a creepy, neglected vibe, and it only got worst. A serious safety issue occured when a teenager in our group fell through a rotted, unstable deck/ a terrifying and completely preventable accident. Even more concerning, the entrance code to our apartment was the same code used for all other units in the building. This made me feel extremely unsafe as anyone from another unit could have accessed ours at any time. I’ve since reported this and am brining legal action due to the injuries and negligence involved. I have also contacted the town to have an inspector evaluate the property for code violations and safety hazard, which I strongly believe exist throughout. This was not just a disappointing stay- it was a disturbing and dangerous one. Despite all this, we left the apartment spotless. I even brought our own plastic plates and utensils to avoid any mess. We were expecting 10 people but only 9 showed up. Shockingly, after the stay, the host had the audacity to request more money for so called damages, damages that absolutely never happened. It felt like an attempt to take advantage after a traumatic experience. This rental was not only disappointing, it was dangerous, spooky, and poorly managed. I strongly urge others to stay far away from this listing. "

There is a dirt driveway that leads to the privacy of your cabin, right alongside the river. You walk into a porch-enclosed kitchen with all the basics (pots, pans, salt, pepper, oil), including a stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, and a French press. There is also a grill and outdoor pizza oven for your cooking needs.As you enter the cabin you are greeted by wood-paneled walls and a vaulted ceiling with plenty of sunshine streaming through the windows. Enjoy a home cooked meal or order out on Doordash. Fire up the wood stove to heat up the cabin quickly, and pass the evening by the fire watching TV (smart TV with Netflix and the internet), or making a fire in the huge fire pit outside by the water. Enjoy a good night's rest in the loft, lounging around in plush bath robes, with a queen-size log-post bed that has Egyptian cotton sheets. This sauna experience comes with towels, essential oils for steam, a cold plunge tub, and water to drink. It is available by appointment - we start the wood fire for you and you can keep it going as long as you’d like. In the cold weather months, it is invigorating to jump in the cold plunge tub, or even the snow, once you’re hot. Cost is $95, with a $40 nonrefundable deposit required at the time of booking. Please let us know when during your stay you’d like to reserve the sauna so that we can have it ready for you. Available year round.
No soap, shampoo, or conditioner rinsing allowed inside the sauna. The sauna requires knowledge of how to run a wood stove. We will set it up, and you can maintain it at your preferred temperature. Take a bath of your dreams - soaking in a beautiful cast-iron tub (hot water available on-demand) under the stars, overlooking the pond and watching the ducks. This forest bath comes with herbs and flowers from our garden when in season. Cost is $150 for both tubs, with a $75 nonrefundable deposit required at the time of booking. Milk baths are $20 extra. Please let us know when during your stay you’d like to reserve the forest baths so that we can have them ready for you. Available seasonally until the weather is consistently below freezing.

***PLEASE NOTE that the shower, with hot water, is located outside the cabin. It is about 30 feet from the front door of the cabin. The water heats up very quickly, and you get to listen to the birds while showering outdoors! There is an indoor standard bathroom with a toilet and a sink as well, available until the temperatures are consistently below freezing.
POTENTIAL FOR NOISE - During the work week, listen to the soothing freight train travel across the river 2-3 times a day, sounding its whistle as it rumbles through the area (about 3 minutes each time). There is also acreage across the river where ATV riders ride sometimes.
PLEASE NOTE you are renting a cabin with a rustic outdoorsy feel. Wildlife is all around you including mice, bugs, birds, snakes, coyotes, deer, beavers, and many, many other critters. If you are into the outdoors this place is for you. If unexpected interactions with wildlife is NOT your thing then this is not the place for you!
*****WINTER GUIDANCE*****
Winter is beautiful at Frog Hollow. We provide snow shoes for exploring, and there are local cross country ski trails and ice fishing spots nearby. During the winter months (once the temperature is consistently below freezing, until it is consistently above), a wood stove is the only source of heat in the cabin. Knowing how to use a wood stove is ABSOLUTELY required. We will set up the wood stove, and you can maintain it at your preferred temperature throughout your stay. DO NOT leave the wood stove door open. Embers can easily pop out and cause harm. Please note there is no running water in the cabin during the winter months - a heated bath house includes a top-of-the-line no odor Separett Villa composting toilet, a shower with on-demand hot water, and a hand sink. The indoor bathroom will be unavailable throughout the winter.
**If booking in the winter, in your reservation request please acknowledge you have read and understood the three important points below:
- Making a fire in a wood stove is a lovely thing, AND you must do it well in order to stay warm. If you have never worked a wood stove before, we will provide you with detailed instructions. We would highly recommend you arrive before dark rather than late at night.
- The toilet and hot shower used during winter months are in the heated bath house, located about 15 steps from the front door.
- There is NO running water inside the cabin during the winter. We provide a water bubbler that dispenses hot and cold water, as well as two 5-gallon BPA free jugs of water to use for cooking.
Guests have full access to the cabin and the surrounding property.
We live on the property, so if you need anything please call or text.
Frog Hollow is in a rural agricultural district. That means there's a mix of residences and farms (agricultural and livestock). While you get a rural feel, we're only 10-15 minutes from grocery stores, dog parks, shops, etc.
You will need a car to get around.
The owners live on an adjoining property.
We're dog friendly! Please feel free to bring along your furbabies (up to 2!), no puppies or cats please, include them in your listing (for a $75 pet fee) and ensure that you pick up after them. We have provided doggy bags to make this as convenient as possible.
Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the cabin and in the screened-in porch.

Our family cottage has all of the amenities to make your stay at the lake one to always remember. Beach, dock, boats, hammocks and two picnic tables to pass the day away. Three bedrooms, fully stocked kitchen, bathroom and screened all seasons porch to relax in between.

Our family cottage has provided us years of joy.
And we've been investing the money we make right back into the cottage to improve our personal and guest experience every year.
While not the prettiest place on the lake, it is after all a classic cottage, the inside is very comfortable and set up to entertain and provide many amenities of home.

There are three bedrooms:
- First bedroom has a king bed
- Second bedroom a full size bed
- Third bedroom contains a bunk bed (2 twin mattresses) and an extra twin mattress/box spring bed in the room.
There is also a very plush futon in the main cottage area and a large sectional couch on the all season (fully enclosed) porch.
We offer clean sheets, comforters, and pillow cases for the beds as well as clean beach and shower towels .
Use of full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, stove/oven and gas grill are included.
Pots, pans, plates, glasses and utensils are also included.

Hot and cold water kitchen sink.
Bathroom has a toilet, shower/tub and sink.
Large trash and recycling totes available outside for proper garbage disposal.

There is NO Laundry (washer & dryer) on premises.

Guests have access to everything at the cottage.
The only requests are to ALWAYS supervise children near the water, wear proper safety vests when boating and respect the neighbors and property.

Alexander's Lake is a gas motor free lake which is why the lake water is so clear and clean.
Please do not bring any personal boats and attempt to launch.

Cottage has WiFi with login and password available upon check-in.
There is a 40" flat screen smart TV with basic cable service & HBO.
And also a Chromecast device that can be used for streaming.
Plus a large bin of 70s/80s/90s classic comedy/action/drama/etc. movies in VHS format to play on the VCR.
We also have a DVD player (Non-BluRay) with some DVDs available for viewing.
There is also a Nintendo GameCube with a wide selection of classic games to play.
The cottage has a stereo that can play the radio and CDs. There is also a corded jack hooked up to the stereo to stream music from a phone or iPod / iPad.
There is full cell phone and data coverage at the lake from all major providers.

There is no washer and dryer. You can wash clothes one exit down the highway off Exit 41 (Old Exit 93) on Interstate 395.
Quiet time at the lake is 10 pm so please limit outside noise after that time.

Note: There is no controlled heat at the cottage sans a large wood burning stove in the middle common area. You may use it but please be careful and use responsibly. Firewood can be purchased at area gas stations, grocery stores and curbside stands.

Frog Hollow was named after the bullfrogs and peepers that serenade guests, announcing the arrival of spring and enjoying long summer evenings along the river. It is the perfect hideaway for a nature lover's or writer's creative retreat. This secluded cabin is surrounded by oaks, pines, and hickory, but you are just 10-15 minutes away from grocery stores and shops. Available all year, but please read the WINTER section below depending on when you are traveling.

Frog Hollow is a rustic cabin where you get the feeling of camping without any of the hassle, and with some extra luxury! There is a dirt driveway that leads to the privacy of your cabin, right alongside the river. You walk into a porch-enclosed kitchen with all the basics (pots, pans, salt, pepper, oil), including a stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, and a French press. There is also a grill and outdoor pizza oven for your cooking needs. As you enter the cabin you are greeted by wood-paneled walls and a vaulted ceiling with plenty of sunshine streaming through the windows. Enjoy a home cooked meal or order out on Doordash. Fire up the wood stove to heat up the cabin quickly, and pass the evening by the fire watching TV (smart TV with Netflix and the internet), or making a fire in the huge fire pit outside by the water. Enjoy a good night's rest in the loft, lounging around in plush bath robes, with a queen-size log-post bed that has Egyptian cotton sheets. There is a telescope for wildlife-watching, and you can spend your days splashing in the river, paddling a canoe/kayak, or fishing (canoes, kayaks, and a paddle boat are available to guests).

FINNISH WOOD FIRED SAUNA - please reserve at time of booking - $40 deposit, $95 fee.

Take your wellness journey to the next level in our newly built Finnish wood-fired sauna overlooking the water! Experience true bliss. This sauna experience comes with towels, essential oils for steam, a cold plunge tub, and water to drink. It is available by appointment - we start the wood fire for you and you can keep it going as long as you’d like. In the cold weather months, it is invigorating to jump in the cold plunge tub, or even the snow, once you’re hot. Cost is $95, with a $40 nonrefundable deposit required at the time of booking. Please let us know when during your stay you’d like to reserve the sauna so that we can have it ready for you. Available year round.

No soap, shampoo, or conditioner rinsing allowed inside the sauna. The sauna requires knowledge of how to run a wood stove. We will set it up, and you can maintain it at your preferred temperature. Bathing suits are required and all medical advice must be followed. If you need help when using the sauna, please call us.

FOREST BATHS - Please reserve at time of booking - $75 deposit, $150 for tubs.

Take a bath of your dreams - soaking in a beautiful cast-iron tub (hot water available on-demand) under the stars, overlooking the pond and watching the ducks. This forest bath comes with herbs and flowers from our garden when in season. Cost is $150 for both tubs, with a $75 nonrefundable deposit required at the time of booking. Milk baths are $20 extra. Please let us know when during your stay you’d like to reserve the forest baths so that we can have them ready for you. Available seasonally until the weather is consistently below freezing.

***PLEASE NOTE that the shower, with hot water, is located outside the cabin. It is about 30 feet from the front door of the cabin. The water heats up very quickly, and you get to listen to the birds while showering outdoors! There is an indoor standard bathroom with a toilet and a sink as well, available until the temperatures are consistently below freezing.

POTENTIAL FOR NOISE - During the work week, listen to the soothing freight train travel across the river 2-3 times a day, sounding its whistle as it rumbles through the area (about 3 minutes each time). There is also acreage across the river where ATV riders ride sometimes.

PLEASE NOTE you are renting a cabin with a rustic outdoorsy feel. Wildlife is all around you including mice, bugs, birds, snakes, coyotes, deer, beavers, and many, many other critters. If you are into the outdoors this place is for you. If unexpected interactions with wildlife is NOT your thing then this is not the place for you! There is a camera above the front entrance door facing the driveway.

*****WINTER GUIDANCE*****

Winter is beautiful at Frog Hollow. We provide snow shoes for exploring, and there are local cross country ski trails and ice fishing spots nearby. During the winter months (once the temperature is consistently below freezing, until it is consistently above), a wood stove is the only source of heat in the cabin. Knowing how to use a wood stove is ABSOLUTELY required. We will set up the wood stove, and you can maintain it at your preferred temperature throughout your stay. DO NOT leave the wood stove door open. Embers can easily pop out and cause harm. Please note there is no running water in the cabin during the winter months - a heated bath house includes a top-of-the-line no odor Separett Villa composting toilet, a shower with on-demand hot water, and a hand sink. The indoor bathroom will be unavailable throughout the winter.

**If booking in the winter (Dec 1-Feb 28), in your reservation request please acknowledge you have read and understood the three important points below:

- Making a fire in a wood stove is a lovely thing, AND you must do it well in order to stay warm. If you have never worked a wood stove before, we will provide you with detailed instructions. We would highly recommend you arrive before dark rather than late at night.

- The toilet and hot shower used during winter months are in the heated bath house, located about 15 steps from the front door.

- There is NO running water inside the cabin during the winter, through March 1st. We provide a water bubbler that dispenses hot and cold water, as well as two 5-gallon BPA free jugs of water to use for cooking.

Guest access
Guests have full access to the cabin and the surrounding property. Please note that the cabin is located next to the river/pond any swimming is at your own risk. Any use of the kayaks or boats guests must wear life jackets and do so at your own risk.

The owners live on an adjoining property.

We're dog friendly! Please feel free to bring along your furbabies (up to 2!), no puppies or cats please, include them in your listing (for a $75 pet fee) and ensure that you pick up after them. We have provided doggy bags to make this as convenient as possible.

Smoking of any kind is prohibited inside the cabin and in the screened-in porch.

Our goal is to create a cabin that meets a need that we had when we were searching for a cabin ourselves, a place that is more special and private than a hotel room, where we could relax by the water and make an easy meal. Acoustical Haven is a perfect getaway for couples of any orientation with/or without young children. The carpeted master bedroom has a queen bed, desk, bureau and lots of closet space .The tiled sunroom transitions from a lovely light filled sitting room to a 2nd bedroom with a twin sized daybed and trundle. For family stays with young children, a high chair, changing table and port-a-crib are available upon request.
For relaxation indoors, the combined kitchen/living room space is open and spacious with vaulted ceilings, recessed lighting, leather couch, love seat and Roku TV with too many sports and entertainment channels to mention. The suite also includes High speed internet, Sony bluetooth speaker, board games and books .
This in-law suite hosts a guitar and keyboard for your musical enjoyment.(If you prefer, they can be tucked away in the walk-in closet)
Outdoors, take advantage of the 8 acres of privacy including wooded walking paths, open grassy fields, perennial flower beds and vegetable garden. There is a mini split for heat and air in the kitchen and bedroom, as well as a ceiling fan in the bedroom.
