There are many great homes you can rent but if the weather turns are there enough things to do to occupy your guests? Here your plan B is covered. Candlewood Isle is located 80 minutes from Manhattan and sits in the middle of Candlewood Lake which is 11 miles long. Our home is on the top of a ridge overlooking the lake on a dead-end road. The house is not lakefront, however, it is a 1-minute drive to the clubhouse beach. Or a short walk. This home is one of the most private homes on the whole Island. The house features everything you could ever want to do for your vacation, even if it rains the home offers plenty of features to keep you occupied. You can even still have an outside BBQ with our huge covered patio under the deck. There is a pool table, ping pong table, shuffleboard table, 3 bars (2 inside) (and one outside) a movie theatre that converts to a disco, a music studio, and for those that don't play an instrument, there is a professional karaoke system that provides hours of fun. The home has two wood-burning fireplaces, a 1,600 sq foot deck with two top-of-the-line Weber grills & a smoker. There is a nice flat yard as well as a fire pit and patio/bar in the back with a Bluetooth audio system The home has 5 smart TVs as well as audio systems throughout the home inside and out. It also has a hot tub that seats 7 people on the deck overlooking the lake. NOTE: The home is built as 6 bedrooms, however, two of those rooms have been converted into a theatre and the other a music studio. You may have these rooms set up as bedrooms if the current sleeping arrangements don't meet your needs, the theatre has a king sleeper sofa however the house can sleep 12 without utilizing these rooms.

An easy 90 minute drive from the city, this property is perfect for extended family get-togethers, a couple of families with kids looking for some lake fun, or a few adult couples needing a few days away.

The property sits directly on a calm part of the lake and extends out to South Beach, a private Knolls beach with child-friendly access to the water from the sandy beach. Bring your child monitor and hang out on the beach while the little's are napping.

Our manicured property leads you to the private deck with a Solo Stiove, Adirondack chairs and a serene sitting area overlooking a very quiet part of the lake. The Solo Stove is a great way to end your day on Candlewood Lake.

Enjoy many a meal on the outdoor teak table with string lighting to set just the right vibe for a tranquil and fun family meal. Our awnings are retractable if need but provides the perfect amount of shade to enjoy morning coffee.

Our Bunk Room is perfect for all of the kiddos... L-shaped bunk beds sleep 4 plus a single bed allows for 5 BFF's or cousins to have a fun sleepover party!

A full bath in the hallway with a tub and shower with subway tiles is perfect for washing away the sandy toes. .
Stackable full-size washer dryer is also on the second floor hidden behind a pocket door.

Relax, read and just hang out in "a room with a view" with 2 6 x 8 picture windows that offer spectacular views of the lake. This sitting room has 3 cozy couches and a fireplace with a TV mounted above.

The main floor, which has french doors leading out to the lake, has a 9 foot rustic farm table that all can break bread together. The fully stocked kitchen with all of the comforts of home has a butcher block countertop and stainless appliances. A big cozy couch (which is a sleep sofa) can seat many to either hangout or watch a good movie on the TV that is mounted over the other fireplace.

Behind the sliding barn door is a bar area with a half bath and a perfect area for cocktails and conversation. Toys, games and other goodies for your littles are in the back area to keep your little ones occupied. A bar complete with barstools and plenty of storage for your weekly supplies during your stay.

While we could go on about the house... the community has plenty to offer to families. Just a short walk is a ball field, and bocci and horseshoe courts. Jungle gym, hoops court as well as a tennis court if you want to get away for an hour or so. The beach in the front of the house is the best though. Walk the kids down, and set up for the day.

- "Great property and location" - "stayed here for a week with my wife. plenty of places to relax, dock for swimming (or rafting/floating) close to restaurants and grocery stores. the lake can be a bit busy with boats, more so than i expected so the water can be a bit choppy at times. otherwise the physical location can’t be beat. the house itself was fantastic very clean well stocked, plenty of places to sit and relax. the questions we had were promptly answered by the property manager Lisa. definitely would recommend for adults or older kids; it’s a lot of steps down to the dock but luckily plenty of places to catch your breath if needed on the way back up."

Working vacation? No problem! We’ve got you covered with an office desk setup that includes a printer & monitor to work from while looking directly out at the water! It is OK to work on vacation, as long as you do it right!

Conveniently located via Route 39 just an hour and twenty minutes from NYC. Driveway can fit multiple vehicle's. Plenty of room if you are towing a boat, jet-skis, quads, or RV's. Boat launch is just .5 miles away! Launch the boat and dock it at your private dock in Squantz Pond. Or, you can go down the road a bit to Candlewood Lake where there is also a boat launch. Just remember, Squantz Pond and Candlewood Lake do not connect.

The living rooms 65 inch smart TV is complete with all the apps you need to sign in & watch for your entertainment! The sound bar and subwoofer are great for movie nights.

Which is also a rental on VRBO, so other guests may be seen or pass through to access the kayaks and/or boat dock. The dock accommodates 2 boats so there is no problem if the other guest happens to be there at the same time with their boat - but that is an extremely rare occurrence.

Enjoy the 3100 sq. ft. 5 bedroom 4 bath house with walls of windows and incredible panoramic lake views from nearly every room. Our one acre plus property is extremely private with woods on the back side and wide open lake views on the front side. There are 3 bedrooms on the main level, 2 bedrooms upstairs and a third level lookout room. The house has three decks, a stone firepit, a huge grassy yard with a very gradual staircase down to the lake and a large lakeside stone patio. The dock is in place from Mid May to Mid October and is carpeted. There are stone steps into the water.
The house is located in a private gated community 10 minutes from New Fairfield Center or Sherman on a private one acre plus lot directly across from state owned land with no other houses on the opposite shoreline. Ours is one of the only roads on the lake where this serene setting exists. This makes it a super quiet location at night. Another advantage is that the water at our location is crystal clear. The water is very deep at our location. The carpeted dock is large for sunbathing, diving or docking your boat. The dock is equipped with post bumpers and floating ball bumpers. The main floor deck is huge with a large gas grill and lots of seating. The second floor balcony off the master living room has a table and two chairs. The third deck is on the upper level with a chair.
The spacious house has two main living levels with five bedrooms and a small lookout room on a third level. The main floor has a dramatic cathedral ceiling with large wood beams and track lighting. The second floor features a massive master bedroom suite with private balcony. This home is truly a unique and special place. Please note, VRBO tax calculations for CT are incorrect. 15% CT Room Occupancy Tax can only be taken for the first 30 nights.
Main Level Living Room- The entry level has floor to ceiling picture windows with incredible views of the lake. The living room is wood paneled and beamed with a cathedral ceiling creating an open and spacious feel. There are two huge windows overlooking the main very large deck and the lake beyond. There is a Smart TV with Spectrum TV app with a Roku. There is a stereo system with radio, CD player and Aux cord. There is a large minisplit AC unit in the living room to supplement the central AC.

Kitchen - The kitchen dining area has two walls of windows with the same lake view. Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to create your favorite meals. There is a window AC unit and a ceiling fan as well as an exhaust fan over the stove in the kitchen. The formal dining room has seating for 10 people.

Bedrooms- On the main level are three bedrooms. The front queen bedroom has a lake view from two large sets of windows. This room also has a small private half bath and a wall AC unit.
The back queen bedroom has two sets of large windows with a wooded view of mature spruce trees and flowering dogwoods and also a side view of the lake. This room has a Smart TV for streaming and window AC unit.
The back middle bedroom has a double bed and a desk. Ceiling fan and portable fan.
The main level large vintage bathroom features a unique enclosed shower/tub area with custom etched herons on the glass surround. This bathroom is shared by two bedrooms.

Second Level - Upstairs is the huge master king bedroom suite with its own full sized living a room with TV for streaming or gaming and sitting area. This bedroom has central AC and a window AC unit. Sliding glass doors leading to a private balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the lake. What a spot for morning coffee! This room is the full width of the house. There is a huge walk-in closet with dressing mirror and plenty of storage.
Second level bathroom- A private entrance from the master leads to the large second level newly renovated bathroom with double sinks and marble vanity. This bath has custom etched glass doors in the tub/shower. There is also a hallway entrance door to this bathroom that is shared with the twin room.
The back second level bedroom has two twin beds. There is a full wall of windows with a view of the woods behind the house and the driveway area. This room has its own AC window unit.
The Third Level -The top level consists of a small Lookout Room accessed via a small spiral staircase. This room has large windows on every side and a small sink. A large desk and chair would make a great office area in cool weather. There is also one twin futon mattress which can be used as a reading area or a single sleeping area. There is also a double mattress that can be used on the floor for a kids' campout. Glass sliding doors lead to a small deck. This area is not air conditioned. There is a portable fan and large windows open on all four walls.
Basement Level-The full basement has a full height 8 foot ceiling. There is a Ping Pong and Dart room and laundry room plus another full bath with shower. We have some life jackets and flotation noodles for your use but you should bring your own for children. You are welcome to use our knee board and water skis located in the basement.
The house is located equally between the town centers of New Fairfield and Sherman, CT. Both towns have grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants. New Fairfield has a large new Stop & Shop and Starbucks, Liquor stores and restaurants. Sherman is a smaller town but it has a nice grocery store and liquor store and the famous American Pie Company Restaurant and Bakery. Try the chicken pot pie.
We are less than a mile to Squantz Pond State Park with miles of hiking trails to ridge views and a sandy beach swimming area with lifeguard. There is a public boat launch across from the park entrance.
Take the short drive to quaint New Milford, CT just 15 minutes away. Visit one of the largest antiques/ flea markets in the east, the Elephant's Trunk, where the show Flea Market Flip is filmed. There are many unique shops and restaurants in town.
Take a longer scenic drive up to Kent, CT and see the Housatonic River rushing through Bulls Bridge Covered Bridge on the way. Take a short hike on Bulls Bridge National Scenic Trail. In picturesque Kent, CT you will find many shops and antiques as well as good food. Kent Falls State Park has hiking trails and a massive waterfall. Continue a bit further north to drive over the covered bridge at Cornwall Bridge, CT in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains. There are many nearby destinations for a perfect day of antiquing and sightseeing.

This beautiful home features 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 2 living areas, a spare bedroom/reading room, a sunroom, a newly remodeled kitchen, and a dining room. Families can gather outside on the large deck, the patio, or play together on the backyard swing set.

**Bedrooms**
The home boasts 3 separate bedrooms with 4 beds in total. We also offer 2 sofa beds to accommodate larger groups.

- Bedroom 1, the master bedroom, is the largest, featuring a king-sized memory foam bed, quality linens, a ceiling fan, blinds, a dresser, a nightstand with a side lamp, and a private deck offering lakeside views.

- Bedroom 2 features a queen-sized memory foam bed, quality linens, a ceiling fan, blinds, a dresser within the closet, a nightstand with a side lamp, and offers views of the backyard and side yard.

- Bedroom 3 features two twin beds that are combined to form a king-size bed, quality linens, a ceiling fan, blinds, a side lamp, and offers views of the backyard and back patio.

- Please note that the closets for bedrooms 1 and 3 are being used for storage, so they are not available to guests.

- The first sofa bed is located in the corner of living room 1. It has a spring mattress, can seat three people, and sleeps two people. The second sofa bed is located in the spare bedroom (labeled as Office 1). It has a memory foam mattress, can seat three people, and sleeps two people.

**Bathrooms**
The home is equipped with 2 full bathrooms, so there’s no need to wait around for your turn. Both bathrooms have a shower, bathtub, large sink, hairdryer, and ventilation fan. Make use of the provided soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and towels.

- Bathroom 1 is located upstairs and has shelving above the toilet for storage.

- Bathroom 2 is located downstairs and has shelving below the sink and a bidet toilet.

**Kitchen**
At the heart of the home lies a large, newly remodeled kitchen, seamlessly connected to the dining room, making it perfect for entertaining. Prepare anything from snacks to full meals in this well-equipped kitchen, complete with modern appliances and a large island with pendant lights hanging over. Appliances include a GE refrigerator (equipped with a drink drawer, chilling drawer, ice maker, water dispenser, and pull-out freezer), microwave, Bosch dishwasher, farmhouse deep sink, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and a double oven and air fryer combo unit (electric range with exhaust fan).

The kitchen is stocked full of cooking accessories that include all types of glasses, bowls, cups, utensils, child-specific items (cups, utensils, trays), bakeware, pots, pans, grill accessories, knife sets, serving utensils, mugs, bar accessories, basic spices/seasonings, and pretty much anything you can think of!

**Dining Room**
The dining room is adjacent to the kitchen, featuring a table that seats six. It’s not only great for delicious dinners but also for game nights, so grab a game from the bookshelf. The dining room and kitchen offer views of the yard.

**Living Rooms**
The home offers 2 beautifully designed living rooms. Perfect for families and friends to come together, with ample seating and 55-inch TVs with Roku players.

- Living room 1 is equipped with a fireplace, two couches that seat a total of 6 guests, and a large screen television. One of the couches pulls out into a bed if needed. It features a dedicated children’s area with toys, books, games, a child-sized table, and a large, comfortable chair. This room gives views of the backyard and front porch.

- Living room 2 is equipped with overhead track lighting and features two leather couches that seat a total of 5 guests. For entertainment, besides the large TV, there is a foosball table, and a bookshelf loaded with books and board games. This room offers a view of the front yard.

**Spare bedroom (labeled as Office 1)**
This room was formerly used as an office. Now, guests can utilize this additional room to relax and rest. It features a comfortable sofa bed and is an ideal spot to catch up on some reading.

**Sunroom**
This beautiful space is perfect for relaxing at any time of day, whether enjoying the sunrise or sunset or simply basking in the afternoon sunlight. This room features a chair, a few folding chairs, and a shoe rack. The room overlooks the front yard, road, and lake.

**Outside Space**
You will love the large outdoor deck, patio, and private backyard. The large backyard features a swing set for the kids. The deck features a coffee table and a larger dining table with chairs that seat up to 3, as well as an umbrella for shielding guests from the bright sun. The patio has three benches that can accommodate up to 6 people. For cookouts, there’s a propane Weber grill with a complete set of cooking utensils.

There is ample parking in the driveway (the garage is not available for parking). You can park up to 2 cars on the street if necessary.

There is a laundry room in the basement that guests are welcome to use if they are spending a significant amount of time at the home. It contains a washer and two dryers (only the LG dryer is available for guest use). Detergent and fabric sheets are provided.

For your safety, the house is equipped with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, a fire ladder, flashlights, and a first aid kit. There is a security camera positioned at the front door and another overlooking the driveway. Refer to the house manual for more information on the location of these items.

There are some excellent nearby areas to explore. Here are some of them:

From the home, it’s about a two-minute walk to the dock at Candlewood Lake (Knollcrest Marina). Here you can fish and kayak. Please ensure you have a valid fishing license before fishing here. See the house manual for information on renting kayaks.

It’s about a 10-minute walk to the private beach, which is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. There are trails around the lake for hiking and biking. The area is home to a diverse array of wildlife, making it an ideal destination for birdwatchers.

From the home, it’s about a 2-minute drive to Squantz Pond State Park. A public boat launch is available for those who wish to bring their boat. Besides boating, the park offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors, including swimming in the pond, fishing, picnicking, and hiking on the trails. The park also has areas for birdwatching and nature observation. During the warmer months, it’s an ideal spot for kayaking and canoeing. Additionally, the scenic views and natural surroundings make it a lovely place for photography and relaxation.

NYC is about a 90-minute drive. Make a day trip and experience everything New York City has to offer.

Our home was designed with relaxation in mind. The decor is a mix of Scandinavian and Bohemian with touches of Mid-Century Modern accents. The lake house is walking distance to the private beach and only a 3 minute drive to Echo Bay Marina, where guests can rent a boat, jet ski, or go water skiing!

Outside features include a fire pit, patio with outside dining table/chairs, gas BBQ, and a fenced in backyard on 3 sides for added privacy. We also have outdoor games in our shed for the whole family to enjoy: corn hole & badminton. The outdoor space is great for a daytime BBQ with friends/family or a quiet night around the fire pit making s'mores.

Inside, our home has a ton of beautiful natural light in all rooms, and is very peaceful and quiet. In the living room, you'll find a comfortable vegan leather sofa and 50" smart TV - equipped with Netflix, Peacock and Disney + subscriptions. We also have a few books and games for guests to enjoy - Chess/Checkers, Jenga, Uno, a deck of cards, puzzles, and kids toys!

Our kitchen is equipped with a dishwasher, electric stove, coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer, pots/pans, and all the necessary essentials for making a delicious meal.

Our sitting room has 4 comfortable Scandinavian chairs situated around our easy-to-use pellet stove - perfect for a cozy night in! We also have a finished basement with an additional pellet stove, TV, and sliding glass door to the backyard. This space can be used to sleep a 5th guest, as we have an air mattress in the basement closet.

Upstairs you will find the beautiful primary bedroom with a queen bed, comfortable bedding, sitting chair, and workstation. Across the hall is our stylish secondary bedroom with a full size bed and another workstation! We've got you covered if you work from "home." Both rooms have double closets with tons of space. In between the bedrooms is our updated full bathroom equipped with a tub/shower combo and removable hand held shower head. You can also find luxury bath towels, hand towels and wash-clothes in the bathroom closet.

The lake house is super family friendly with a pack n play, high chair, kids toys/books and night lights. You will be our guests in our charming home with new kitchen appliances, central air. There is a deck as well as a screened in porch overlooking the lake. The master suite is on the first floor, with a queen bed, walk in closet and a private bath with whirlpool tub. There is a laundry room off the kitchen with a half bath.
The second and third bedrooms are upstairs, sharing a single full bathroom.
There is a queen bed and a pair of twins.

GUEST ACCESS
This is a lake-front property with a dock, space for boat, swimming and fishing. This is one of the few VRBO properties on Squantz Pond which does NOT have a street or busy highway running through the property between the house and the lake.

You will have access to the outdoor property and both main floors of the house.

There is an open office space with lake views for writing or working. The newly remodeled kitchen is stocked with all the essentials including a spacious table for 8 people. Outside the kitchen door you will find a propane grill. Down the hall is a full bath with a shower. Up two steps, there is a queen bedroom with a smart TV and walk-in closet.

Second Floor: Includes a master bedroom with a king bed and a dedicated work area. The master has a separate a/c unit. The second bedroom includes 2 stackable twin beds which unstack to create 4 twin beds. The loft area has a sofa bed, foosball table and a PlayStation 4 hooked up to a smart TV. There is a full bath with a bathtub.

A short walk to the clubhouse beach, volleyball, basketball, docks, and tennis court. Lifeguard on duty during daytime.

Candlewood Cottage is a lakeside retreat a mere 75 minute drive away from Manhattan. It's part of a private community on Candlewood isle, the largest isle in Candlewood lake, that features tennis courts, a basketball court, bocci area as well as a Clubhouse with the beach and a children's playground.

The Cottage is our home and we hope you feel welcome like you might at a friend's home. The sprawling property features a garage, main house, boathouse and a private dock. The crunching sound of the gravel as you pull into the driveway will be your signal: you've left the city noise behind.

The Main House is spread across four floors, each offering unparalleled views of the lake stretching for miles. The entire house is surrounded by magnificent tall oak trees that offer generous shade in the summertime.

There is a separate private studio on the lowest floor with a dedicated entrance, kitchenette and bathroom. This bright and lively area is perfectly sized for an adult couple. It features a glass-cover desk and a light blue sofa that quickly turns into a queen-sized bed. The bathroom is fully stocked with fluffy Turkish towels and organic toiletries. The remainder of the house is a one family unit with three bedrooms, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom.

When you first enter the house, you'll find yourself in the wood-paneled main dining room with a perch-like view of the Great Room below. The rustic heavy wood dining table can easily accommodate 6-8 people. Conveniently located right next door is a French country style kitchen featuring Sub-zero and Viking appliances. The kitchen extends into an adjoint breakfast nook with full views of the lake and surrounding hills. Nested between the kitchen and the dining room is a half-bathroom.

Walking down the beige carpeted staircase you find yourself in the Great Room, an impressive space with cathedral ceilings and panoramic windows overlooking the lake. For cold winter nights, there is a stone-built fireplace facing a dark wood table and a plush, L-shaped sofa. Curl up and watch your favorite show on the large-screen HD TV. Or you might sink into one of the two treated-leather armchairs, perfect for a hot chocolate and a book. The room's tall panoramic windows offer extensive views of the lakes and nearby islands, and plentiful sunshine all year round. On the same floor is the master bedroom with its own master bath.

Walk down another flight of stairs and you'll be greeted by ship-themed sleeping quarters. Two generously proportioned bedrooms and a full bathroom are on this floor, both fully stocked with Turkish cotton towels and organic toiletries. The children's bedroom features a single/twin size bunk bed, the other bedroom a single/twin size bed. Both have large windows looking out on the emerald green lake below. A white door discretely hides a laundry room fully equipped with a heavy duty washer and dryer.

The main house is surrounded by a terraced landscaped garden. The entrance connects with a patio complete with a dining table and a professional grade gas grill. The patio has a full view of the water and the dock.

Down at the water's edge you will walk onto a stone walkway that connects the Boathouse with your own private dock. The Boathouse keeps an enviable supply of water toys, inflatable donuts, floaties, beach towels etc.

There is a pontoon boat tied to one side of the dock - please ask us if you're interested in using it - and a stairway into the lake on the other for a refreshing summer morning swim.

Our renovated 1940s cabin is located in a small lake community across from Candlewood lake, and the property backs up to the woods of Squantz Pond State Park. Although we have neighbors, with a 6ft privacy fence on either side of the property and the trees and mountain behind the cabin, you will feel as if you are secluded in the woods without being far from everything you need.

You will have seasonal beach/lake access during your stay, where you can grab our kayaks for an epic day out on the water or spend your day relaxing on the beach. We have 2 single kayaks and a double kayak for you to use. (Late April- late October) The lake is 3 mins away, and Squantz Pond is only 1 min away.

Outside features include a wood fired stone fire pit (s`mores essentials included), Weber BBQ grill, a patio with a large outdoor dining table with plenty of seating, an outdoor shower (open Late April-November) perfect for rinsing off a day at the lake, and a hot tub open year round ready to make your evening even more relaxing. You can even take the kayaks out on the lake for a fun-filled day on the water. You’ll have seasonal views of the lake and surrounding mountains (late fall/winter) but can enjoy the sounds of boats on the water most of the year. The outdoor space truly turns into a quiet magical place as the sun begins to set.

Inside, our cozy cabin has tons of natural light, perfect for quiet mornings. The living room exudes relaxation and comfort with a large couch, electric fireplace, and TV with all the streaming services you’d need. If you want to unplug you`ll find plenty of board games and books.
The stylish and cute kitchen is complete with everything you’d need during your stay. With sustainability in mind, the beautiful bathroom with a walk-in shower is stocked with Public Goods toiletries, and cozy robes will be waiting to make your stay even more relaxing.
There are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, closets, and comfortable bedding. You’ll wake up to the sounds of birds, and rustling leaves from the woodland animals that visit in the mornings.

—We have a wildflower lawn on the left side of the property. During the summer and fall there are tall grasses and flowers, so if the lawn looks a little wild, that’s why! We are trying to support our pollinators!!

—There is parking for 1 or 2 cars. Absolutely NO street parking. The lake communities have narrow roads, so street parking will block access to our neighbor`s driveway.

—We are pet friendly, but kindly ask you to let us know if you would like to bring any pets.

—The nearby beaches do not allow pets in the summer. Squantz Pond allows dogs October- April. We are always happy to provide pet friendly recommendations, so just let us know!

—Squantz Pond charges a parking fee for out of state plates from April-October

—The ductless AC & Heat is in the main living space, it keeps the cabin quite cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We recommend leaving the bedroom and bathroom door open whenever possible to allow for maximum airflow to those spaces.

—The cabin is in the woods, so please expect to see animals, bugs & insects during your stay. That’s the price we pay for being in nature :-)

—The cabin is pet friendly, and although the it is thoroughly cleaned before each stay we cannot guarantee it will be 100% allergen free. If you have pet allergies please keep this in mind when booking and contact us with any questions!

—The refrigerator is from 1947 and original to the house, it’s super charming but does have some limitations. The freezer is more of an icebox and often freezes over. It’s small and will hold trays of ice/frozen pizza/popsicles. We do provide a yeti-type cooler outside to store all your frozen goods! All you need is ice :-)

—The cabin is in a small lake community, and we do have neighbors on either side. Our property is pretty wooded so it is and feels very private, but be aware that the cabin is not extremely secluded in the woods.

—The cabin is small, and not suitable for more than 4 people. We love its coziness!!

—The roads in our community are very narrow. Please be mindful of the speed limit, and other cars that may need to pass.

—The outdoor shower is open seasonally— Late April- Late October/ Early November

—We DO NOT provide firewood for the fire pit, although sometimes previous guests leave anything leftover. Stop & Shop and the Food Center in town usually have bundles for sale, as well as gas stations nearby.

Dogs MUST be leashed at all times on our property and in our neighborhood.
Failure to leash your pet will result in a $250 fine.

For your convenience there is a red lead line attached to a tree on the property. You can use this to give your pup more space to run around.

There will be a $100 fine for checking out late without prior approval.

We absolutely DO NOT allow smoking inside.

Doing so can damage the tub. If damage occurs, you will be responsible for repairs.

- Please be respectful of our neighbors. Our house is meant to be used as a place to relax and enjoy the lake & nature.

Follow the speed limit in the neighborhood. The roads are very narrow with sharp turns. Be careful of people walking throughout the neighborhood.

Do not leave any fires unattended!

Do not flush anything other than toilet paper and waste down the toilet. We are on a septic system, so putting anything else down the toilet can cause serious problems to our septic.

Never unplug the hot tub, it always stays on and set to 104°.
Pets are not allowed in the hot tub. It is for human use only.

***PET POLICY***
We love animals and wanted to allow pets in our cabin, but to do so we need to add a few rules.

-Please pick up after your pet in the yard.
-If something becomes broken or damaged you will be responsible for repairing/replacing it.
-Be aware that coyotes, foxes, and bears live in the area, so do not leave your pets unattended.
-Our neighbors have a dog that runs off leash—he is very friendly but keep in mind that you may see him.
-The town of New Fairfield requires you to keep your dog on a leash while outside during your stay.

These rules are in place for the safety of our guests and neighbors. We spent many months renovating the cabin and put so much into making it what it is, so we would like to keep it that way.

We understand that accidents happen, so we just ask that you treat our cabin as you would your own home.

The cabin is a place to slow down and reconnect. Spend your days on the lake, exploring nearby towns, wineries & antique shops & your nights in the hot tub, by the fire pit roasting s'mores and gazing up at the stars.

The space
Our renovated 1940s cabin is located in a small lake community across from Candlewood lake, and the property backs up to the woods of Squantz Pond State Park. Although we have neighbors, with a 6ft privacy fence on either side of the property and the trees and mountain behind the cabin, you will feel as if you are secluded in the woods without being far from everything you need.

You will have seasonal beach/lake access during your stay, where you can grab our kayaks for an epic day out on the water or spend your day relaxing on the beach. We have 2 single kayaks and a double kayak for you to use. (Late April/Early May - late October) The lake is 3 mins away, and Squantz Pond is only 1 min away.

Outside features include a wood fired stone fire pit (s'mores essentials included), Weber BBQ grill, a patio with a large outdoor dining table with plenty of seating, an outdoor shower (open Late April-November) perfect for rinsing off a day at the lake, and a hot tub open year round ready to make your evening even more relaxing. You can even take the kayaks out on the lake for a fun-filled day on the water. You’ll have seasonal views of the lake and surrounding mountains (late fall/winter) but can enjoy the sounds of boats on the water most of the year. The outdoor space truly turns into a quiet magical place as the sun begins to set.

Inside, our cozy cabin has tons of natural light, perfect for quiet mornings. The living room exudes relaxation and comfort with a large couch, electric fireplace, and TV with all the streaming services you’d need. If you want to unplug you'll find plenty of board games and books.
The stylish and cute kitchen is complete with everything you’d need during your stay. With sustainability in mind, the beautiful bathroom with a walk-in shower is stocked with Public Goods toiletries, and cozy robes will be waiting to make your stay even more relaxing.
There are two bedrooms, both with queen beds, closets, and comfortable bedding. You’ll wake up to the sounds of birds, and rustling leaves from the woodland animals that visit in the mornings.

**Please note**— The cabin is small (just under 500 sqft) Its coziness makes for a very unique stay and as many guests have said— it’s small but mighty! You definitely won’t be lacking with amenities and the sounds of nature around you.

—We have a wildflower lawn on the left side of the property. During the summer and fall there are tall grasses and flowers, so if the lawn looks a little wild, that’s why! We are trying to support our pollinators!!

—There is parking for 1 or 2 cars. Absolutely NO street parking. The lake communities have narrow roads, so street parking will block access to our neighbor's driveway.

—We are pet friendly, but kindly ask you to let us know if you would like to bring any pets.

—The nearby beaches do not allow pets in the summer. Squantz Pond allows dogs October- April. We are always happy to provide pet friendly recommendations, so just let us know!

—Squantz Pond charges a parking fee for out of state plates from April-October

—The ductless AC & Heat is in the main living space, it keeps the cabin quite cool in the summer and warm in the winter. We recommend leaving the bedroom and bathroom door open whenever possible to allow for maximum airflow to those spaces.

—The cabin is in the woods, so please expect to see animals, bugs & insects during your stay. That’s the price we pay for being in nature :-)

—The cabin is pet friendly, and although the it is thoroughly cleaned before each stay we cannot guarantee it will be 100% allergen free. If you have pet allergies please keep this in mind when booking and contact us with any questions!

—The refrigerator is from 1947 and original to the house, it’s super charming but does have some limitations. The freezer is more of an icebox and often freezes over. It’s small and will hold trays of ice/frozen pizza/popsicles. We do provide a yeti-type cooler outside to store all your frozen goods! All you need is ice :-)

—The cabin is in a small lake community, and we do have neighbors on either side. Our property is pretty wooded so it is and feels very private, but be aware that the cabin is not extremely secluded in the woods.

—The cabin is small, and not suitable for more than 4 people. We love its coziness!!

—The roads in our community are very narrow. Please be mindful of the speed limit, and other cars that may need to pass.

—The outdoor shower is open seasonally— Late April- Late October/ Early November

—We DO NOT provide firewood for the fire pit, although sometimes previous guests leave anything leftover. Stop & Shop and the Food Center in town usually have bundles for sale, as well as gas stations nearby.

Welcome to our charming lake house in a private lake community, located just a short distance away from the beach, where you can enjoy swimming and fishing in crystal-clear waters. Our spacious 3 bedroom home has plenty of room for families or groups of friends to relax and unwind and can sleep up to 7. Our home also features a cozy porch that is perfect for those seeking a private room for catching up on your favorite TV show, reading a book, working from home, or simply unwinding and enjoying some alone time. The porch is also private enough to be used as an extra bedroom if needed.

Our community offers a variety of outdoor activities, including a playground, tennis court, bocce courts, basketball court and ballfield. For those who love the great outdoors, hiking trails and wineries are located just outside of the community. For golf enthusiasts, there are several nearby golf courses to choose from. In addition there are area marinas for boat rentals or charter fishing services.

This room was formerly used as an office. Now, guests can utilize this additional room to relax and rest. It features a comfortable sofa bed and is an ideal spot to catch up on some reading.

**Sunroom**
This beautiful space is perfect for relaxing at any time of day, whether enjoying the sunrise or sunset or simply basking in the afternoon sunlight. This room features a chair, a few folding chairs, and a shoe rack. The room overlooks the front yard, road, and lake.

The deck features a coffee table and a larger dining table with chairs that seat up to 3, as well as an umbrella for shielding guests from the bright sun. The patio has three benches that can accommodate up to 6 people. For cookouts, there’s a propane Weber grill with a complete set of cooking utensils.

There is ample parking in the driveway (the garage is not available for parking). You can park up to 2 cars on the street if necessary.

There is a laundry room in the basement that guests are welcome to use if they are spending a significant amount of time at the home. It contains a washer and two dryers (only the LG dryer is available for guest use). Detergent and fabric sheets are provided.

For your safety, the house is equipped with smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, and a first aid kit. There is a security camera positioned at the front door and another overlooking the driveway. Please take a look at the house manual for more information on the location of these items.

From the home, it’s about a two-minute walk to the dock at Candlewood Lake (Knollcrest Marina). Here you can fish and kayak. Please ensure you have a valid fishing license before fishing here. We have a kayak in the garage that you're welcome to use.

It’s about a 10-minute walk to the private beach, which is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. There are trails around the lake for hiking and biking. The area is home to a diverse array of wildlife, making it an ideal destination for birdwatchers.

From the home, it’s about a 2-minute drive to Squantz Pond State Park. A public boat launch is available for those who wish to bring their boat. Besides boating, the park offers a variety of outdoor activities for visitors, including swimming in the pond, fishing, picnicking, and hiking on the trails. The park also has areas for birdwatching and nature observation. During the warmer months, it’s an ideal spot for kayaking and canoeing. Additionally, the scenic views and natural surroundings make it a lovely place for photography and relaxation.

NYC is about a 90-minute drive. Make a day trip and experience everything New York City has to offer.

There is an open office space with lake views for writing or working. The newly remodeled kitchen is stocked with all the essentials including a spacious table for 8 people. Outside the kitchen door you will find a propane grill. Down the hall is a full bath with a shower. Up two steps, there is a queen bedroom with a smart TV and walk-in closet. The first floor is up a flight of steps to gain access to the home.

Second Floor: Includes a master bedroom with a king bed, a dedicated work area, and a smart tv. The master has a separate a/c and/or heating unit. The second bedroom includes 2 stackable twin beds which unstack to create 4 twin beds. The loft area has a sofa bed, foosball table and a PlayStation 4 hooked up to a smart TV. There is a full bath with a bathtub. A new washer and dryer are also located right off the bathroom.

A short walk to the clubhouse beach, volleyball, basketball, docks, playground, and tennis court.

A pocket door reveals the master bathroom with a double sink and beautiful glass-enclosed shower with natural stone flooring,

The guest room has a nautical double bed that sleeps 2.

Our Bunk Room is perfect for all of the kiddos... L-shaped bunk beds sleep 4 plus a single bed allows for 5 BFF's or cousins to have a fun sleepover party!

A full bath in the hallway with a tub and shower with subway tiles is perfect for washing away the sandy toes. .
Stackable full-size washer dryer is also on the second floor hidden behind a pocket door.

Relax, read and just hang out in "a room with a view" with 2 6 x 8 picture windows that offer spectacular views of the lake. This sitting room has 3 cozy couches and a fireplace with a TV mounted above.

The main floor, which has french doors leading out to the lake, has a 9 foot rustic farm table that all can break bread together. The fully stocked kitchen with all of the comforts of home such as spices, oils, condiments , coffee and even pancake mix has a butcher block countertop and stainless appliances. A big cozy couch (which is a sleep sofa) can seat many to either hangout or watch a good movie on the TV that is mounted over the other fireplace.

Behind the sliding barn door is a bar area with a half bath and a perfect area for cocktails and conversation. Toys, games and other goodies for your littles are in the back area to keep your little ones occupied. A bar complete with barstools and plenty of storage for your weekly supplies during your stay.

While we could go on about the house... the community has plenty to offer to families. Just a short walk is a ball field, and bocci and horseshoe courts. Jungle gym, hoops court as well as a tennis court if you want to get away for an hour or so. The beach in the front of the house is the best though. Walk the kids down, and set up for the day.

Dock Usage for Boats: There is potential to use one side of the dock for a day or two of boating. The space between our dock and our neighbors dock is larger enough for 1 boat but not two boats and hence if our neighbors have guests there with a boat it is not available. Hence we are unable to gtee usage but happy to see if its free as we get closer to your stay.

You'll have access to your own private dock located in a coveted "No Wake Zone" for swimming, sunbathing, kayaking (provided), etc. We'll provide some floats and water toys as well.

The private dock is available if you want to bring a boat, but because of property constraints, there isn't room for a trailer.

2 car garage is not included with this rental as it is used to house equipment for the property. During your stay cars can be parked in front of the garage doors. Not used as an active garage.

No parties/gatherings. No additional guests sleeping over the 8 capacity limit. No unannounced daytime guests. For the comfort and structurally/mechanical safety of our home no more than 8 guest for both day time or night time occupancy. If not adhered to, over the limit penalties will be incurred. Respect the quiet hours that start at 10pm.

3. Pets must be walked on the asphalt. Pets must be kept on a leash when walked, and cleaned up after. No pets allowed on the lawn to keep the lawn lush and green year round.

4. The home is in a walkable community. It is a great place for a long walk with your leashed dog.

5. If you are looking to have your pet roam free, there are dog parks outside of our community, a short drive away called New Fairfield Dog Park & New Milford (Candlewoof) Dog Park.

SURVEILLANCE

For your safety, a security camera (a Ring doorbell) is located at the front door. The camera is facing towards the front yard and does not look into any interior spaces. There is a second camera at the back door also for security purposes. We do not monitor this camera during guest stays unless we receive a complaint. There are no cameras or listening devices inside the property.

Beautiful new construction home in Candlewood Knolls. Extremely family friendly community that includes for guests to use: beach, playground, lap lanes, baseball field, bocce, basketball, tennis & pickleball courts. We provide two kayaks and one paddleboard with the home. The home is lake front and the lake is fully accessible from our dock. PLEASE ASK BEFORE BRINGING YOUR OWN BOAT. We also have a golf cart for additional rent. The home is 20 minutes from Thunder Ridge Ski Mountain.

The space
There are 3 bedrooms on the main level, 2 bedrooms upstairs and a third level lookout room. The main floor has a dramatic cathedral ceiling with large wood beams and track lighting. The second floor features a massive master bedroom suite with private balcony. This home is truly a unique and special place.
The house is located 10 minutes from New Fairfield Center or Sherman on a private one acre plus lot. Ours is one of the only roads on the lake where there are no houses on the opposite shore making it very quiet at night. The water at our location is crystal clear. The large stone patio area at the water's edge with a private dock and stone staircase makes getting into the water easy. The water is very deep so good for diving off the dock. The carpeted dock is large. The main floor deck is huge with a large gas grill with two tables and seating for 10 or more. The second floor balcony off the master living room has a table and two chairs. The third deck is on the upper level with a chair.

Main Level - The entry level has floor to ceiling picture windows with incredible views of the lake. The living room is wood paneled and beamed with a cathedral ceiling creating an open and spacious feel. There are two huge windows overlooking the main very large deck and the lake beyond. There is a Smart TV with Spectrum internet TV service and a Roku with many streaming apps. There is a stereo system with radio, CD and Aux cord. The kitchen dining area has two walls of windows with the same amazing view. Our eat in kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to create your favorite meals. The formal dining room has seating for at least 10 people. There is a window AC unit in the kitchen and a new large mini split AC in living room area.

The main level has three bedrooms. The front queen bedroom has a view of the lake from two large sets of windows. This room also has a small private half bath and a wall AC unit. The back queen bedroom has two sets of large windows with a wooded view of mature spruce trees and flowering dogwoods and also a side view of the lake. This room has a Smart TV for streaming and window AC unit. The back middle bedroom has a double bed and a desk. Ceiling fan and portable fan.
The main level large vintage bathroom features a unique enclosed shower/tub area with custom etched herons on the glass surround. This bathroom is shared by two bedrooms.

Second Level -Upstairs is the huge master king bedroom suite with its own full sized living room with TV for streaming and sitting area. Sliding glass doors leading to a private balcony with a table and chairs overlooking the lake. This room is the full width of the house. There is a window AC unit and also central AC in the master bedroom. There is a huge walk-in closet with dressing mirror and plenty of storage. A private entrance from the master leads to the large second level bathroom with double sinks and marble vanity. This bath also has custom etched glass doors in the tub/shower. The back second level bedroom has two twin beds. There is a full wall of windows with a view of the woods behind the house and the driveway area. This room has its own AC window unit.

The third level consists of a small Lookout Room accessed via a spiral staircase. This room has large windows on every side and a small sink. A large desk and chair would make a great office area in cool weather. There is also one twin futon mattress and double mattress for a kids camp out. Glass sliding doors lead to a small deck with chairs. This area is not air conditioned. There is a portable fan.

Basement level-The huge basement has a full height 8 foot ceiling. There is a Ping Pong /Dart room and laundry room plus another full bath with shower. Stored in a cupboard are some life jackets and flotation noodles for your use but you should bring your own for children. You may also use the knee board and water skis if you rent a boat.

Located in a private community in the middle of Candlewood lake. 8-minute walk to the beach/lake, and family-friendly activities. tennis, basketball, boating, horseback riding, hiking, skiing, and vineyards. Our home is good for groups, business retreats, families, birthdays, or events. 80 train ride from Manhattan to the Brewster station or 70 min to midtown driving

The space
This is a place where you can never get bored, rain or shine there is something inside to do for everyone, The home comes with 5 tvs plus a movie theatre. At night the theatre can turn into a disco. The music studio has a drum set and keyboard, just plug and play if you have a guitar. For those that don't play, we have a professional karaoke system. The outdoor lawn is perfect and level to play games, (corn-hole supplied) and the outdoor bar/patio has a fire pit perfect for the evening cocktails and smores. The hot tub holds 7 people and the deck space is a whooping 1600sq feet. Pool table, ping pong, and shuffleboard table keep you entertained for hours. Two wood-burning fireplaces, two Weber grills, and a smoker. There is a chef's kitchen with a 48-inch professional stove w/two ovens, two refrigerators, three ice machines, and a wine chiller.

(Note: both the Music studio and the theatre are considered bedrooms that were converted) Please make sure the sleeping layouts fit your needs prior to booking. The theater has a king pull-out and we supply an air mattress if needed in the music studio, please let us know prior to your stay. The home is NOT lakefront, It has lake views and is a very private setting at the end of the road. It's an 8 min walk to the beach or a 1 min car ride. Please read our reviews! They speak volumes! At times there is a camper/RV parked on the property that the owner may utilze.

Please remember this is our home, not a hotel, the furnishings are expensive and should be treated as you would treat your own. Remember we rate one another and provide reviews of all our guests. The cleaning fees we charge are for general cleaning, not to take stains out of carpets, clean up a pile of messy dishes in the sink or separate your trash because you didn't recycle. If cleaning goes beyond general you will be charged additionally. The best guests are the ones that you never knew were there. No smoking in the house. There are security cameras that monitor the outside of the house 24/7.
