- "Kristi’s getaway located right on Lake Zoar was an absolute dream. We stayed as newlyweds for a “mini moon” before our honeymoon in 2 months. It was quaint and peaceful. Kristi was incredibly communicative before and during our stay. We arrived earlier than expected so our code didn’t work initially but Kristi made sure we could get in within minutes. There was a small welcome basket with K-cups, snacks, and water, as well as neatly folded towels on the bed. There weren’t any blinds overlooking the lake when we stayed, but there are blinds on every other window. We didn’t mind because it meant waking up with sunrise and a gorgeous lakefront view, plus there aren’t any properties that can see into that window next to the bed. The shared space down by the lake wasn’t used by anyone else while we were there, so we were content having a quiet lakeside breakfast. We didn’t get to enjoy the fire pit but it’s there for use if you purchase firewood. If you are 6+ feet tall, you may have to crouch in the entrance/kitchen area but the ceiling opens up by the bed. Also, it is a little bit of a steep gravel hill to walk up and down to the apartment. We’re active folks so it wasn’t bad but it’s something to keep in mind if you stay here. Also, we didn’t have phone service so we were happy there was WiFi but if we ordered an Uber and walked up to meet them, there was a delay with updates due to spotty service. Regardless, nothing could deter us from coming back! It was wonderful and clean."

While the interior and lakefront areas of this unit is nothing but desirable, to access the unit guests must walk down a steep, sloped walkway. The driveway is less desirable and also quite sloped, but we are hoping to update this over time.

This beautiful 1905 New England Cottage, that was once a local bakery, is the perfect location to enjoy Connecticut, fun local excursions and activities. Hiking trails are around the corner, and a lake surrounded by rolling, golden hills is 3 minutes down the road, perfect for kayaking. So come and relax, reconnect with nature, or do both! A complimentary, chilled bottle of Prosecco will be waiting for you!

This fully remodeled, light filled, 1900 sqft home includes two working fireplaces, a large Great room, spacious living, dining, and sleeping areas, a dedicated office space, a laundry room, a patio, and a back deck. Its lay-out is convenient, with two bedrooms 2 steps up from the main floor. The bedrooms feature fresh, European style bedding. The twin beds downstairs have new green tea-infused mattresses, the sheets are manufactured by women-owned businesses, and the guest toiletries are all natural and infused with essential oils. Every bedroom has beautiful views of the park-like grounds. The fully equipped, large kitchen with spacious dining area makes it fun to cook and gather, and the private back deck and small front patio are perfect for morning breakfast and evening cocktails! There is fast WiFi and a smart TV in the living room, and, just in case you want to disconnect from it all, a great selection of board games and puzzles, books and magazines. There is also a basket with arts and crafts activities for children. Two functioning fireplaces, one in the kitchen and one in the living room, will bring a special ambiance to your evenings. To start you off, we will supply one deck box full of wood. After that, you are free to collect wood from the property yourself.

This New England Cape sits on what was once a sheep farm. The family who owned the land 200 years ago held Dorset sheep, hence the property's name, and as you explore the area, you will see street names that reflect the history of the property. The barn of the main house still has the troughs where they would feed the animals. At one point, the guest house was a local bakery, and an oven in the basement is witness to that venture. The entire property is surrounded by a wooded Land Reserve, ensuring privacy. We have deer, wild turkeys, and hawks that regularly visit our grounds, and from time to time a red fox will cross the property.

The Center of Brookfield and neighboring towns with their restaurants are between a 5- and 15-minute drive away. Kent Falls, the towns of Kent and Litchfield, at the foot of the Berkshire mountains, are a scenic 40-50 minutes away. Other charming towns close to us (within a 15-mile radius) include Newtown, Bridgewater, Roxbury, and New Milford. There are many restaurants, shops, and art galleries around. The Elephant's Trunk, the famous flea market held on Sundays in New Milford from May to October, is a 10-minute drive away.

We live in the main house on the property, and we will leave you as much privacy as you desire. We are always happy to guide you to our favorite local eateries, the hiking trails, access to the lake, and other local activities.

We are multi-lingual, and apart from English, speak Dutch, French, Swedish, and German.

Upper Level Loft:

- Luxurious Primary Loft Suite, King size, incredible lake views, with balcony overlooking living space. Large walk-in closet and a private bathroom with large walk-in shower. The lift picture is NOT operational. We provide Terra Pure shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for guests.

Main Level: There is no bedroom or bathroom on this level.

Lower Level:

-One bedroom with king-size bed and full private bathroom with tub/shower. Walkout to lower-level patio and the lake.

-Second lower-level bedroom with king-size bed also has walk out to lower-level patio and lake. Bathroom in hallway with shower.

- Futon in living space is great for child, linens are left in the hall closet.

- Pack-n-play is available with linens when requested. Highchair provided upon request.

Main Level: The main level offers a modern newly renovated kitchen and large family room. A large comfy leather sectional puts you in a prime position to enjoy lake views through a wall of windows. Colder months, enjoy the warmth of the fireplace and the amazing scenery.

House is secured by 24 hour Fire and Carbon monoxide detection.

Modern kitchen fully equipped. Fridge/freezer, dishwasher, oven, microwave, cookware, utensils and dishes, Keurig and Drip coffee maker and all the essential tools for grilling, baking and/or making cocktails on the back porch.

Living Room is perfect for playing games, watching movies, or just catching up with family and friends on the large sectional couch in front of the fireplace.

Dining Area with seating for 6.

Walk out onto the deck with spectacular views and a great dining experience with gas grill.

Lower Level:

Cozy area for kids to gather and watch a movie or play games.

Outside:

Lakefront living features an oversized deck with gas grill area off of the main level. Great space for outdoor entertainment overlooking spectacular Lake Taunton.

At the water's edge is a large dock.

Lifejackets, beach chairs, towels, a Paddleboard and a kayak for guest use are available, lifejacks, oars and fishing poles shared with sister property next door.

Four parking spots are available. Three by the house and one by the road. There is no garage.



Additional Information

- Strong Wifi perfect for remote working

- Air conditioning and heating in bedrooms.

- Pets will be considered. Prior approval is a must. A $25/night per pet fee will be added. Unapproved pets will be charged a minimum of $250. Pets are never allowed on furniture and must be crated if left alone in the house.

- Beach chairs (boat house at sister property) and towels (lower level closet) are available.

- Fishing all year round on Taunton Lake... ice fishing in January and February!

- The fireplace is operational in the colder months, please do not use it during summer. Logs can be purchased at grocery store.

- The starter amenity pack includes Terra Pure shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, hand soap, dish soap, dishwasher pods, a roll of toilet paper in each bathroom, a roll of paper towel, laundry detergent. All of which should get you started with your stay.

- Fresh linens and towels. There is no daily cleaning service.

- Guest Access. You will have access to the entire property for your stay. An electronic code will give you access to that home at check-in and will be disabled upon check-out. You are welcome to ship packages to the home during your stay.

- The lift shown in the pictures is not operational. This property is not handicap accessible.

- Newtown is a “small town” in Southern Connecticut 75 miles outside New York City. Newtown and its surrounding towns offer historical charm, hiking & biking trails, pick-your-own farms, creameries, local wineries and breweries, amazing restaurants, entertainment and shopping.

- "Felt at home. Would definitely stay again when in the area." - "Beautiful property inside and out! House was very clean upon arrival. Enough beds and baths for everyone. Very comfortable beds. Well stocked kitchen. There was even a set of kiddie plates, cups, utensils, which we appreciated. The (private) lake was very clean (we were amazed at the lack of weeds in the water which is typical for most lakes / ponds) and quiet (no motor boats allowed, there were times when we were on the (provided) paddle-boards and kayaks and felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves). Close to grocery and shopping stores and ice cream. We did a hike in a nearby state park and also did a "hike with llama's" which was also very close by. Awesome experience! We had a couple friends, and then our kids, join us for different nights during the week. One of our kids brought their small dog for a couple nights which was very convenient. Another brought their 1 & 1/2 year old baby. Overall great stay! Highly recommended!"

With it’s amazing deck and direct access to the lake - there will be so much to do as a family or with friends. It’s a perfect get-a-way to recharge and rejuvenate. The convenience of shopping, eating out, or just walking around town is only 12 min away. The house will be fully equipped along with Kayaks, to enjoy your stay on this beautiful lake!

- "I’m going to be honest! I was initially worried about going due to an update receive by the owner the day of check in. We showed up and what seemed like a mountain, became a molehill. He mentioned a few things needed repair, on check in day which I was not happy about, but they were so insignificant due to all the other amenities, and the location, the views, the beautiful kitchen, the comfortable bed, the privacy, the water actives, and getting to fish off the dock ect, ect, ect! Those are the things that made are stay one of the absolute BEST mini vacations ever! I will say the outdoor grill was either clogged or not working properly and needs repairing or to be replaced. That’s pretty common with grills, not surprising though. We were able to use the gas stove/oven which cooked quickly, and efficiently, and sufficed our personal needs. Overall our stay was a 5. Too many good things to worry about the small. Thank you Vico ! We spent a fantastic, fun filled weekend with friends and their 2 children doing all the lakeside activities you'd hope for - swimming, canoeing, barbecuing, s'mores around the firepit and generally relaxing. Michael, the host, couldn't have been more helpful. Just one other thing to share - the garden is pretty steep (as the photos clearly show, so no complaints) which is a minor work out for people such as myself to get back up to the house from the lake - all in all, not a bad thing, it helped to justify that extra beer!"

A full sound system is available throughout the interior and exterior of the home. There are more than enough areas to entertain or relax inside and outside. You will often see windsurfers, fishing, and ice skaters on the lake but please note that you will not see motorboats! They are not allowed which keeps the lake very peaceful.

- Office space with pull-out queen bed, doors for privacy (half bath on main level, guests using office for sleeping will use full bath one floor up or floor down)

Lower Level:

-2 king-size bedrooms with bathrooms, workout room, and entertainment room great for movies or kids hangout with air hockey table and games. Walk out to the pool.

- Cribs in lower-level bedrooms for the convenience of those traveling with young ones. Linens are provided for cribs upon request.

- Pool and Hot Tub are open seasonally. It is anticipated that they will be open mid-April through October but will depend on spring thaw and winter freeze. We can not guarantee pool opening/closing dates in advance. Please note that weather can change quickly and decisions to close the pool may happen last min. if requested by professionals. The pool and spa work together and one will not be available without the other.

- Pool can be heated per guest request for an additional fee. Fee is based on market rates at the time of your stay. This fee will be charged after booking.- A double staircase leads to the pool-level patio with another fireplace.

- At the water's edge are a boathouse and a large dock.

- Owner has lifejackets, beach chairs, towels, 2 Stand Up Paddle boards and a kayak for guest use. Lifejacks, paddles and fishing poles shared with the house next door.



Garage for 2 cars. NO Cars w/ Rooftop Storage are permitted in the garage. The driveway can accommodate 6 cars, depending on size. There is no street parking allowed.

- Pool and hot tub expected to be available mid-April through October, dependent on Spring thaw and winter freeze.

- Pool heater does not constantly run. Per request pool can be heated for an additional fee. Fee is based on market rates at the time of your stay. This fee will be charged after booking.

- Strong Wifi perfect for remote working

- Pets will be considered. Prior approval is required. A $50/night per pet fee will be added. Unapproved pets will be charged a minimum of $250. Airbnb guests will be charged pet fee after booking is made, and pet is approved.

- Outdoor fireplaces are available all year long. Firewood can be purchased at local grocery and gas stations.

- "When you enter the front doors of this gorgeous home to find welcome goodies on the counter, and the sound of “Be Our Guest” playing on the house speakers, you know you’re in for a real treat. Don’t even get me started on the mesmerizing infinity pool that overlooks the lake…unbelievable. Multiple areas to lounge by the pool and hot tub with enough chairs for all. The house is lakefront, with a dock that allows you to fish or take out a kayak or paddle board. Ensuite bedrooms are beautiful, kitchen fantastic, pool table and bar area just one of the terrific places to hang. We were able to sit outside by the fire, on the large covered upper deck, one night during a summer thunderstorm. Talk about nature’s fireworks. The house is fully stocked with everything you need to enjoy your “home away from home”. Bring a toothbrush and you’re set. This apartment features a kitchen, relaxing living and bedroom, and a clean bathroom. Airbnb guests are welcome to enjoy a shared 32 ft pool and 12 ft deep artist studio and garden.

This large bedroom looks over our beautiful back yard. Set in rural Redding you will love the peace and quiet . The 40 foot upstairs room is divided by sliding wood doors that gives you a work or eating area while somebody else sleeps or watches the smart TV.
We are only a little over 1 hour from NYC but with out any noise.
There is a tennis court and basket ball court behind house. We are walking distance to a scenic waterfall. also 5 minutes by car to Huntington state park with its miles of walking trails. Located 12 minutes from Bethel ...18 minutes from Danbury and 21 from Fairfield
