Please note that dining table only seats two, but TV tables and a high chair are available. Note that adding additional portable beds significantly reduces the floor space! Some families have opted for their kids to sleep on the couch and love seat in sleep sacks we provide. Also available: a portable crib, high chair, baby monitor (think "hot tub" use), stroller, baby backpack and toys are available.
*The front yard has a play set, bocce court, horseshoes, charcoal grill, and dining set. Guests may use these facilities without any notice to us.

*Our neighbor's construction of the 6' chain-link fence has dramatically reduced any "foreign" animal visits (as have our dogs) we still have deer, a rafter of turkeys (including two huge toms in the spring), an abnormally large and jaunty red fox, a pack of coyotes, a rarely-seen bobcat, and birds of every feather, including woodpeckers, owls, and vultures. Oh, and squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits! So, please don't let your little dogs out unleashed very early in the morning or into the evening.
*2024 update: Black bear have been seen routing through garbage cans at the southern end of the greenspace/river that we face but no people encounters. Black bears are generally non-agressive and will most often leave an encounter with a human, if possible. Do NOT run away!

You have your own air conditioning which cools down but it defaults back to 76. So if you are going on a weekend like ours which was 100 degrees, and you like your temperature cooler (especially for sleeping) bring a fan or grab one at the local Walmart for $20. There had been a leak in the roof by the bathroom in the hallway that needs repair. Lots of space inside with a very large eat-in kitchen. Washer and dryer worked great. One night (3am) we were woken up by a lady talking very loudly (screaming) on the phone. She was in the parking lot of the store next door facing directly to the bedroom windows. Also, this is a building where other people live. Someone in the other unit must smoke and the cigarette smell sometimes would be very strong, especially in the bathroom. We weren't in the apartment much so it was tolerable but this would not be ideal for a person who suffers from asthma or sensitive to these types of smells. We thank Ms. Jay for hosting us!"

— PET RULES: Please pick up waste from pets. Damage caused by pets will be subject to replacement costs. $250 per pet fee for any non-disclosed pets brought on the property.

— NO PARTIES OR EVENTS: Maximal number of guests allowed is 3. $500 fine against the rule. Cops will be called and legal actions will be taken if you host an event or throw a party at our property. Groups of visitors and party-size visitors are not allowed. Please ask for approval if you have visitors, and fees for additional guests will apply.

— QUIET HOURS: 8 pm to 8 am. Keep outside noise low during this time, and please move conversations inside. The home is located in a family setting and is only suitable for families, business professionals, and quieter groups. Please be respectful of the owners and the neighbors. Loud, late-night disturbances will be fined $500 accordingly.

- "Comfortable and well-supplied studio. Responsive and friendly host. We were visiting friends and a local museum in the area. This location met our needs just right. We didn’t need to cook much, because we ate at our friends’ house, but the kitchen had all the basic supplies one would need to cook full meals. We were able to easily make breakfast and coffee/tea. The studio is a nice size. I had plenty of room for yoga in the center of the room, without feeling that I was in the way. It’s a basement studio with some windows and plenty of lights to brighten up the space. The entry is tucked in the backyard of the house - it felt safe and comfortable. "

This romantic, rustic and cozy lakeside cabin is the perfect place to unwind, relax and explore nature. There are miles of woodland trails to explore, and it is only 55 minutes from NYC, 5 minutes from the Merritt Parkway and other major highways, 20 min UBER from Metro North Train Fairfield Station, or Bridgeport.

The space
In response to COVID 19 concerns, I think it important to tell you that keeping the cabin disinfected and clean has ALWAYS been my priority, and to be clear, all bed cloths are washed before each guest visit: from the mattress covers, to the pillow case liners, to the sheets and the coverlet. Every surface in the cabin is wiped down and the cabin is aired out before each guest arrives. This does take extra time however which is why my check in time is a bit late and my check out time is earlier.

This is a 600 square foot, winterized cabin with waterfront views on a private lake in Ct's hottest town for young families. Come explore historic Trumbull and it's many parks and hundreds of miles of walking trails.

There is a great winery within a 15 minute drive and a brewery within 15 minutes in the other direction. We have world class dining within 20 minutes and great hiking and mountain biking trails in all directions. Beaches on the Long Island Sound are a short drive away, too.

Smoking is not allowed in or near the cabin.

This is a stand alone cabin, that you will have all to yourself, however in summer the neighboring cabins are very close and usually occupied on the weekends with friendly but quiet folk.
As Fall and Winter approach the neighboring cabins empty out, and you will find this cabin to be very secluded and it will seem you have the neighborhood and the woods all to yourself.

No smoking on the premises please.

The cabin has a window air conditioner in the summer months.
The cabin is insulated and heated by a gas stove. On extremely frigid (below 15 degrees F) days you may want to use the space heaters that are supplied in the bedroom for extra warmth.

Swimming and boating in this private lake is for association members only. Airbnb guests are not permitted to use the lake unless the owners (we) are present.

The space
The house is spacious and allows you to relax!

THE FIRST FLOOR:
A great room with HDTV, big windows and a door out to the patio. A fully loaded kitchen with dishware, utensils, pots, pans, Cuisinart coffee machine, a Keurig, a pour-over, electric tea kettle, blender, food processor, Nutri Bullet, waffle maker, oils, and spices, coffee and teas. Dine at the kitchen island or at the table in the kitchen nook. 1/2 bath off the kitchen. We also have a 4moms modern highchair.

A dining room with hardwood floors and a wood burning fireplace is right off the kitchen. It has a large table that seats 10.

The living room has original beams, hardwood floors, a wood burning fireplace, and a smart TV. This room also has a small antique desk. Off the living room is the beautiful sunroom with an office desk, ergonomic chair, printer, a small table to enjoy your morning coffee or afternoon wine, and a daybed for napping.

The laundry closet/room on the first floor also has an iron and ironing board.

THE SECOND FLOOR:
3 bedrooms and 3 full baths.
The primary bedroom has two queen size beds, and an attached bathroom with jacuzzi tub and shower.
The second bedroom has an antique four poster full size bed, and a full bath with shower and tub down the hall.
The third bedroom has a four poster queen bed and attached full bathroom with shower stall.

All bedrooms have hardwood floors, and new, very quiet Midea window A/C units.

There are extra blankets and plenty of towels for guests.

Additionally, the property has one (1) twin-size folding cot, one (1) Pack N Play (premium organic cotton sheets included), and a sound machine.

Little ones will find toys and books neatly packed in the wicker trunk in the great room. We also provide a 4moms modern highchair.

OUTDOORS:
The outdoor patio has 2 round tables with umbrellas, making it a favorite place to dine, and watch the birds.

The driveway has a basketball hoop and you will find the new basket ball inside in the exercise basket, next to the stationary bike.

As we live in the northeast, our grounds do get sprayed 4 times a year for ticks with a natural cedar spray.

The Elijah Sterling House, circa 1791, has some squeaky floors, and original old doors. There is no central A/C, but the newly installed, quiet, Midea window A/C units cool off a northeast heat wave!
Ceiling fans and portable fans are also available.

It is a delightful, and charming home with a very long history of welcoming guests and travelers. We believe you will be happy and comfortable during your stay. A small retreat to the past with many modern conveniences.
