Guest Reviews:

- "selected here as a unique base from which we could tour or explore Bruny Island. the disappointment was that we didn't allow some days to just enjoy this location on its own. we were very comfortable and well catered to thank you! " - "Beautiful location and loads of wildlife. The cabin a little rustic, but it is pretty isolated so expected. Linen and towels nice and fresh. Overall a great spot " - "The view was beautiful, and being so secluded made it very romantic and peaceful. I must say this though, the rug in the living room was filthy. We kept stepping on things under our feet. There was dirty cutlery in the draw. The table in the lounge was unstable. The TV only had 2 chanels and it's so outdated that you couldn't even hook up your phone to watch a movie at least."

Cabin
South Bruny, Tasmania, Australia

Cloudy Bay Cabin is situated on the southern coast of Bruny Island. This private and remote accommodation is surrounded by the South Bruny National Park and fronts onto the magnificent Cloudy Bay beach. If you are looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then Cloudy Bay Cabin can provide it. Access is by a private unsealed track which leads in 4 km from Cloudy Bay Rd and is suitable for all vehicles. The nearest neighbour is out of sightat least 1km away. The beach in front of the cabin is suitable for families to swim, wander and play. The beach at this end of the bay is calmer making it ideal for younger children. A recent comment was that the gas heater is a great instalment, as chopping wood and relighting fires after a hard days relaxing was no longer fun.
Come and enjoy the changing moods of one of the most beautiful beaches in Tasmania. You will have expansive views across Cloudy Bay into the far off south-west ranges (snow capped in winter) and in mid summer you can watch the sunset over south east cape which is the most southerly point in Australia.
Visitors will also have grandstand views of the huge swells that regularly roll in from the southern ocean and which make middle bay and lagoons at the western end of the beach very popular places for surfers.
Alternatively, the eastern end of the beach, known as Boat Harbour, is sheltered and peaceful which makes it ideal for children or the less adventurous.
The cabin is unique in design. Made from locally grown and saw milled timber it provides a warmth and ambience which is hard to match. To maintain the unspoilt nature of the area the cabin utilises alternative power systems. Power is provided by a combination of solar panels and LP gas which are able to provide all of the usual amenities except a washing machine. However visitors should be aware that the cabin has a 12 volt system and therefore no coffee grinders or hair dryers can be used.(If you need a phone bring a car charger).
Swimming, surfing, canoeing, fishing, boating, windsurfing are all at your doorstep. There is always the chance of seeing porpoises, seals or the occasional whale. Also the area has a diverse range of birdlife for the enthusiast to enjoy.
Cloudy Bay Cabin is located on a 133ha bush block so there is ample room to wander without being disturbed. A large area around the cabin is kept mown so there is plenty of space for children to play safely.
The Cabin has a King bed in the master bedroom.A bunk room with two sets of single bunks (4 beds) and a double bed hidden in the lounge setting. This makes it ideal for families or people who are comfortable sharing space. The fold out bed can be easily tucked away during the day so the couch can be used.

Guest Reviews:

It's clean and comfy ,the big bed is gorgeous and the views are amazing. Can't recommend this place enough." - "Couldn’t ask for a better spot to celebrate. Guest Reviews:

- "We had an amazing time and the Bruny Island lodge for four nights over the New Year period. Ben was incredibly helpful as a host and was very accommodating with all the uncertainty that came with COVID. The place itself was exactly as shown in the pictures with everything that we needed. The only thing that could have been improved slightly was some additional details in the guest information pack around the use of some of the amenities. I ended up calling Ben to get some guidance on some of these things, but I think it would improve the experience significantly if these were included in the guest compendium. Things that I can think of were - What happens if pilot in hot water systems goes out (turn generator off/on again). - Where to find the pilot light in the gas oven. - The wifi network is not available for internet use. - Using the turbo cool function on the fridge on arrival, and when turning the generator back on in the morning. - Turning the ice machine off during the evening to reduce noise. Other than that, there is little else that I would fault this place on. Will 100% be returning again!"

Surrounded by forest, and set on the waterfront, the Hide provides an elegant refuge for couples. In a national park like setting and situated centrally, it is the perfect base for exploring popular Bruny Island. The hide is made up of two pavilions surrounded by wide decks and a large courtyard. The main pavilion is the living zone with a linen clad queen sized bed and clawfoot bathtub. The tub has a floor to ceiling glass sliding door that can opened to give the illusion and sensation of bathing outdoors.

The day bed is wide and long enough for 2 ,covered in feather filled cushions creating a lush reading and daydreaming space in front of the wood-fired heater.
A simple kitchenette offers all that you need to self cater during your stay. Good locally roasted coffee and loose leaf teas, house made jams and butter are all provided along with other pantry staples.

Cloudy Bay Cabin
Cabin
Kingborough Council

Cloudy Bay Cabin is situated on the southern coast of Bruny Island.

This private and remote accommodation is surrounded by the South Bruny National Park and fronts onto the magnificent Cloudy Bay beach. If you are looking for peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then Cloudy Bay Cabin can provide it.

Access is by a private unsealed track which leads in 4 km from Cloudy Bay Rd and is suitable for all vehicles. The nearest neighbor is out of at least 1km away.

The space
Welcome to Cloudy Bay Cabin’ a timber beach cottage secluded in paradise surrounded by South Bruny National Park and a mere stone’s throw from the shores of beautiful Cloudy Bay (Bruny Island, Australia).

Cloudy Bay Cabin is perfectly located for families with young children keen to splash in the shallows -or teenagers prepared to walk to the nearby surf break. Walkers will be delighted too -with kilometers of sandy beach and pristine coastline to explore, as well as 350 acres of private forest to share with no one else except Bruny’s adorable wildlife.

Delightfully cosy, the cabin comfortably sleeps six, whilst also offering additional guests the option to camp under the stars on the expansive grassed recreation area.

The clean and practical kitchen enjoys spectacular views through the sheltered veranda to the beach beyond -with a rustic eight-seater dining table providing the perfect hub for lunch, dinner, or family Scrabble challenges.

Please note: To maintain the unspoiled nature of the area, Cloudy Bay Cabin relies on solar power and bottled gas for most appliances (fridge, TV, cooktop & oven, BBQ and hot water) with a 12v power system offering USB charging points for your electronics, but no 240v general-purpose outlets.

Cloudy Bay Cabin offers a direct path to pristine coastline & sandy beaches a truly off-grid experience.

Guest access
Access to the cabin is via a dirt road -you do not need a 4×4; however, vehicles with low clearance need to take their time to navigate the rough conditions (we always recommend a small SUV or the likes when exploring Bruny Island).

The address is 970 Cloudy Bay Rd, access is through a locked gate. It is a one-hour drive from the ferry terminal.

A Bruny Island Coastal retreats sign is on the fence opposite the pine's campground, this is your entrance.

The key safe for the front gate is located behind the timber fence on the right of the gate. Please leave the gate key in the safe at the gate as other people use it to access other properties on the private road.

* Please lock the gate exactly as you found it to avoid interrupting others' access.

The cabin is located at the end of the road. It takes about 15 minutes from the front gate to the cabin. Please be aware that if arriving in the evening that there are no lights along this roadway.

You will go past the two sets of farm sheds and follow track to the right. At times people feel they have gone too far. Ignore these city feelings and keep going.

When you can see the ocean and dunes you go to the back of the dunes and turn left. From here you can see the cabin.

The key to the Cabin is in the key safe beside the front door.

We recommend using a SUV or a vehicle with high ground clearance due to uneven road surface.

Check In: 2pm
Check Out: 10am

Cloudy Bay Cabin is a 12volt power system, there are no power sockets at the cabin. USB power is supplied for your stay.
