The Hideaway let’s you seamlessly integrate with nature through it’s large glass windows and exceptional views of the forest. Escape the every day and take a moment for yourselves. Whether it be comfortably nestled inside, embracing the nature outside, relaxing in the sauna, or sitting by a fire. You can hear the ripples of Grindstone Creek, and are within steps of stunning hiking trails throughout the valley, which connect to the Bruce Trail. Truly a unique experience.

Experience life on a tiny farm just outside the city! Stay in our charming and comfortable barn loft and wake up to the sounds of chickens, ducks, geese, pigs, goats and horses and our adorable Highland cows. Spend time watching or interacting with all the very friendly animals that surround the barn. You will meet all the animals as they all come up readily to anyone who visits the farm. Guests are welcome to participate in the morning feeding.

The space
Completely private and detached 350 square foot loft apartment located on the upper level of our barn. The loft has a very well equipped kitchen with apartment size fridge, separate bedroom and three piece bathroom with a shower. The lower level of the barn houses the resident animals which are turned in at night to their stalls. The 6 acre property also has a main residence where the property owners live.

Guest access
For the safety of the animals that live at the farm and for the safety of the guests, we ask that guests do not open any cages, pens or gates besides the ones marked specifically in the check in details. At no time should the guests enter the gated pasture where the animals graze as some of the animals will bite or kick people they are unfamiliar with.

The animals that live at the farm become stressed and upset when other animals such as dogs come onto the property. For this reason we are not able to accept pets.

Other things to note
Please keep in mind when you are deciding to book with us that the apartment is located on the top level of a barn that is surrounded by the animals that live on the farm. You will be fully immersed in farm life and all that it entails upon entering and exiting the gated staircase that leads to the apartment including loose roaming farm animals such as pigs, goats, chickens, geese and turkeys.

Any chasing of or trying to grab or pick up the resident farm animals is not permitted.

Some of the farm animals will not take kindly to being chased, touched or picked up.

In rainy weather it can be muddy and in between the parking area and apartment there can be droppings from the birds that live on the farm. Boots are recommended for spending time around the farm.

We also ask that guests do their best to not leave the apartment door open for any length of time as to not let in flies, insects and wild animals that can leave droppings on the inside of the apartment and cause damage.

We have a few farm cats that may seem to want inside the barn loft. These cats came from a feral colony and will urinate on the furniture inside the barn loft so they are not permitted inside the barn loft under any circumstances. They have a heated bed inside the lower part of the barn that they can access at all times.

Candles are not permitted inside or around the barn or barn apartment due to the fire hazard they create as the barn is a wood structure and holds flammable hay and straw. We have provided an abundance of battery operated candles for our guests to use.

Guests should consider purchasing travel insurance when they book or book using a credit card with built in travel insurance as our cancellation policy is firm and we do not issue refunds outside of the parameters of our policy.
