Larches Lodge is an authentic Norwegian log cabin offering private self-catering accommodation. It is set within a secluded larch copse in the one acre gardens of our family home. Perched on the hillside, Larches Lodge has fantastic views over the picturesque town of Church Stretton, often nicknamed “Little Switzerland", and is the only market town to be found in South Shropshire's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Larches Lodge is equipped and furnished to a high standard and can sleep up to two people.

Church Stretton town centre is an easy ten minute stroll away (approx 500m). Here you can find small shops, cafes, restaurants, a wine bar, pubs, an antiques market, golf course and railway station. The train station is a five minute walk away and can take you to the centre of medieval Shrewsbury or the historic market town of Ludlow in under 15 minutes - it is on the mainline from Cardiff to Manchester. Also within easy reach are notable sights such as the museums of Ironbridge, Stokesay Castle, Offa's Dyke, Weston Park and Buildwas Abbey to name but a few of what Shropshire has to offer.

Larches Lodge is dwarfed by the glorious backdrop of the Long Mynd, Caradoc and Carding Mill Valley all but a stones throw away. You are spoilt by many beautiful and scenic walks to suit both the less energetic and more experienced hill walkers. You will not be disappointed.

Arrival is generally after 3pm and departure by 10.30am but there is sometimes flexibility on request. Max Occupancy: 2. Smoking is allowed outside.

Although it's private the lodge is close(ish) to our family home, if you're seeking a totally peaceful and quiet retreat you may prefer Oaks Lodge which is further away. Also hot tub can make a little bit of pump noise during the night.

Welcome to Oaks Lodge, your luxury lodge nestled in a 1/3 acre woodland dingle beneath a canopy of oak trees. Unwind in your Jacuzzi spa, surrounded by the natural beauty of mature oaks and the lodge's modern western red cedar cladding, whilst listening to the soothing background trickle of the stream as it meanders beneath you. A prime position on caer caradoc hill., located in a national area of beauty in the South Shropshire Hills. Your location gives you a head start up onto Caradoc and a trek up to the old Roman fort. Leading to the most amazing views to the top. This is as easy as wandering out the front door. Perfect for those who enjoy walks and hikes.

Jacobs cabin is located up the hill abit more and not too far from the 'Tiny House on the Hill, with each place designed for ultermate discretion and privacy. Your welcome to book the whole site for group bookings. We can sleep 6 adults and 2 single foldable beds, perfect for children.

Just so your aware, we have 2 log cabins and 1 cottage available for bookings on Airbnb. The 3 places share over 1 acre of land of the side of a hill face. Each place is fenced off and all places have their own garden and decking areas.

.As we are located up Caradoc Hill and it can get muddy if it has rained, we advise you to pack walking boots. Towels are provided, however always good to bring extra towels for hot tub use etc.

Check in from 3pm to 6.30pm latest, due to family time. Please keep in touch on ETA. Please also text when you are 15 minutes away. As we have to drive to meet you.

We meet you at the bottom of the hill in a Freelander 4x4. Show you where to park, then take you and luggage up to your place. With a bit of off-road driving to appreciate the stunning location.

We will settle you in and answer questions. We will then see you on check out, to take you back down in the 4x4. Checkout 10am, exact time dependant on checkouts of other guests.

A good supply of wood is included with your stay, for use in the log burner inside. Wood needed for your hot tub is extra, located in a honesty shop.

PLEASE BRING CASH WITH YOU FOR THE HONESTY SHOP. As we obtain the wood ready for your hot tub: £6 for large bag of wood, firelighters £1, kindling bag £3. These prices are at cost, what we pay for them. More than welcome to bring your own wood as well. Please note the log burners are wood fired only, not suitable for coal.

The postcode is SY6 7JN. Please drive a bit further up the road than the postcode point. Look out for a farmyard on the left, 20 yards past a campsite. Please park to the left of large metal gates with red gate posts. On the gravel area. The car park has a combination lock on it.

Larches Lodge is a detached property with its own private balcony and outdoor space although adjacent to the owners home. There is a 40m gravel path from the parking area to the lodge. Park in the dedicated parking area and pop up to the house and we’ll show you in.
