- "We did not stay at this property. We went to the location and the surrounding area was not as portrayed. There were overgrown weeds everywhere, an abandoned camper and an abandoned military vehicle, a building that looked abandoned with a washer and dryer on the outside of the house and was just overall a very sketchy area. The boards on the front of the house were rotting. We told the owner that we did not feel safe staying there with our newborn and asked for a refund due to the fact that none of this surrounding area was depicted. They told us that the abandoned camper with weeds all over it was “historic” and that it was accurately described in the listing and would not refund us. I told them we would not have booked the listing with our baby if we had known what the rest of the property looked like. There was nothing in this listing about the sketchy surrounding area. I would not recommend this place if you care about the surrounding area. The inside was clean and as pictured. "

Come enjoy the fabulous sunsets and relaxing atmosphere in this spacious a-frame on the bay! The house is just minutes from the great shopping and dining of the city of Fairhope, but just off the beaten path enough to feel private and secluded! Located on the eastern shore of Mobile bay, the house faces almost due south, meaning refreshing breezes in the summer, but protection from the wind in the winter, making the outdoor weather fabulous year-round!
This house is perfect for vacationing families. The downstairs bedrooms both have King sized beds, while 2 rooms upstairs will sleep lots of kids! The sandy beach is perfect for small children. A snowbird couple would also love this house, as the upstairs need not even be used! The view from the kitchen as you cook is just breathtaking.
There is a public boat ramp just one mile away, so bring your boat for skiing, tubing and fishing on the bay, or for a beautiful ride up the nearby magnolia river to swim in the cold spring waters.
Don't forget to pack your appetite for seafood. When baited, the two crab traps provided catch as many as a dozen crabs a day!

- "While not flashy in its decor and structure, this A-frame is beautifully bright. Beautiful setting, private beach, quiet, well maintained. Loved it! Would definitely stay again." - "Great location. Beautiful sunrise and sunset. Loved relaxing in the hammock swings overlooking the bay. Saw dolphins up close both mornings we were there. Home was very comfortable and roomy. Would definitely stay there again. Wonderful stay!" - "Hard to beat a house just a few steps from the water. This was our second year staying here and we look forward to coming back again. Trin stayed in close contact and answered all our questions during our stay. A kayak, crab traps, and many other amenities were available for use. Just a very comfortable and peaceful stay."

Come and enjoy a few nights of fun and fishing on the historical Fish River. This centrally located property is a mere 15 minutes from the beautiful town of Fairhope and it is approximately 30 minutes away from the white sandy beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach. Our comfy river cabin includes 1 bed/ 1bath and is able to comfortably sleep two adults. The kitchen is fully functional as well as an outdoor charcoal grill. A large covered porch is an inviting place to sit, relax, and enjoy the view of the river. It is intentionally positioned on Fish River basin, which gives you a great deal of privacy while also being a stones-throw away from the main river. The cabin does not sit on the water. but our beautiful boathouse provides ample water access. We have a long pier for fishing and swimming, as well as a beautiful boathouse. We have a place to launch kayaks or other small boats as well as the perfect place for swimming. This prime Fish River location gives you access to some of the best fishing Baldwin County has to offer. This river’s name is no coincidence because it is chock-full of redfish, speckle trout, and even dolphins from time to time. Come and see what all of the fuss is about at The Cabin on Fish River.
- "Place was just as shown online. Well stocked and clean. So peaceful!" - "Peaceful and relaxing anniversary celebration♥️We couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful cozy and relaxing place than cozy cabin on Fish river. Enjoyed relaxing at the beautiful boathouse & looking out at the river kayaking and swimming. Inside the cabin was always comfortably cool and very cozy as well as comfortable bed. We loved this area because it was very private and we love the fact that we didn’t have to go far to visit a lot of places around us (Fairhope, Ft. Morgan, Gulf Shores beach) and eat at some really good restaurants! The only regret we had was that we did not bring our little boat with us to ride this beautiful river but will next time! Thank you Susan for letting us experience such a beautiful little place!"

River cabin with a treehouse feel. Located directly on Fish River. Kayaking, campfires, fishing Gulfshores-38min, Downtown Fairhope-18min.
Kayaks and fishing poles provided. Samsung smart TV. Fast internet-300mbps. Summers can be hot outside...two A/Cs & a dehumidifier!
2 person capacity(no children)
Update-new sleeper cocuh on order. The temporary couch is a non-sleeper couch. That being said, the loft area has a comfy full size bed
Manatee sighting Nov. 2022. Dolphins sighting June 2024, Feb 2024. and May 2023
Bass-kin is a house located directly on the Fairhope side of Fish river. The cabin has a very inviting interior with wood panels, floor, and blinds. Bass-kin has great natural lighting with 11 windows(with natural wood blinds). You are so high up that you feel like you are in a treehouse. The ladder leading to the upstairs loft style bedroom has a full size bed with a great expansive view of the river. If you prefer not to use the ladder, the couch down on the main floor is a pullout queen size bed.
Enjoy everything about the property: kayaks, fishing poles, grilling picnic area with a Webber charcoal grill, fire pit, etc. The river is great place to spend your time! The Inside of the tiny house living area is a great place to watch a movie or football game. It has a comfortable leather couch and a 42 inch Smart TV which includes Youtube TV, which is the newest(best) streaming service that provides 70 of the best cable channels, and is easy to navigate. When watching movies, the smart tv allows you to log in to your Netflix or Amazon Prime account. We have Wifi internet with lots of power(300 mpbs!!). Big Daddy's grill is just a few blocks down the road. Big Daddy's is one of the areas most popular casual dinning restaurants located on the river.
The occasional rain shower can be a little bit of a bummer at most places, but not at the cabin. Its great to hear the rain on the tin roof.
Southern Summers can be hot. The cabin has two air conditioners and a dehumidifier... When combined it makes a comfortable temperature inside of the cabin.
A large portion of short term rental properties have the owners who live on or adjacent to the property. We do not live on or adjacent to the cabin.
Recent guest spotted a Bald Eagle at the property during their stay!
Listing picture disclosure: some shoreline erosion has occurred from Hurricane Sally.
Because of hazards like a child falling throught the hatch of the sleeping area and the rocky bulkhead, we ask guests not to bring children.

Enjoy life on a working farm in our rural country cabin. Located 6 miles down a red dirt road, in the middle of timber woods, but within driving distance of world-class entertainment, shopping, dining and white sand beaches.
This cabin retreat is set on a working livestock ranch and offers the peace and quiet of country life while being just a short distance from the OWA Amusement Park, fine dining, great malls, an outlet center, and the beautiful Gulf beaches. The cabin offers a full kitchen, flat screen TV with antenna and DVD player, queen-size bed, full-size sleeper sofa, and washer and dryer. Located 6 miles down a County-maintained red dirt road in the middle of thousands of acres of pine forests. When it rains, the road can get a little messy, so we recommend an SUV over a car. We provide a coffee maker, coffee grounds, fresh eggs from our chickens, and a loaf of fresh bread (for you or to feed the animals). We do not provide a cooked breakfast.
- "When they say that this is a rustic cabin, they mean it. There is no wifi and it is way out in the middle of nowhere. I was perfect. The animals and the quiet were perfect and I am so glad that I found this little piece of paradise. My teenage boys didn't even really notice that there was no wifi because they enjoyed being outside. The pros outweigh the cons by quite a bit. I will go over the cons first since there are so few. The first one is the spiders. The porch was covered in orb weaver spiders and since I am horribly arachnaphobic, I did not find this nice at all. I am sure it was a way to maybe lower the insect population on the porch but I didn't like it. The second con is that the cabin was unlevel so do not drink in this cabin because you might fall into the toilet. That did not bother me at all though. Also, when they say that an suv would be best, they mean it. My Dodge Challenger made it through fine but after the rain, I had to do a lot of dodging pot holes. Now to the pros. The place is perfect for getting away from everything. They had it fully stocked with anything that you could need, even marshmallow roasters. They have plenty of blankets and pillows. They have lots of dvds and games. They even offer to take the family to feed the animals if you contact them. They left eggs and a loaf of bread which the bread got immediately grabbed up by my kids to feed the animals. I can't wait to book this place again next year."

Quiet Tranquility with stunning sunsets, surrounded by the Weeks Bay National Estuary. You will immediately feel excitement the moment you pull around the curve and down the drive, because you can see the sun dancing on the water beyond the house. Walking inside you know you made the right choice. The cozy wood walls wrap you in serenity while the new remodel has all the essentials to make for a wonderful relaxing get away! So many original features were left in this old cabin and like the original wood walls, floors and doors in some of the rooms. Custom nooks and crannies make for perfect spots to take your work with you. The sectional sofa is large enough for a group to gather on. And the open floor plan can accommodate extended family and friends, plus the pets, with an easy and natural flow. We had our family here for this past Easter Gathering. There were 18 of us and two dogs! The oversized back porch make rainy days the best days as you watch the storms roll in without fear of getting wet! Take an adventure with the kayaks ! Throw out a line, cast a net, put out a crab trap or just sit on the dock! The sunsets are spectacular! The birdwatching is amazing. You will see all different types of fish and often have Dolphin visits. My sister is partial to the east side view where we have a sweet little porch to drop your groceries when you walk up the stairs or to sit and sip your morning coffee and bird watch. We offer mariner whips free of charge and a boat lift for an additional fee. The dock is shared with the rental "The Last Shack" which is adjacent to the property. Both homes can be rented for a combined experience to sleep 20! The Last Shack sleeps 8. The Last Cabin can sleep 12. Moments from Magnolia Springs and only a 15 minute drive into Fairhope or Foley or a 30 minute drive to the beaches. Quite simply, I could stay here awhile, and found it hard to leave!!
- "The owners were great to work with. The location was absolutely beautiful, its on a point & the sunset is georgeous. The house was as stocked as we have ever seen. This location is close to everything, you can get to most places you want to go in about 20 minutes. Lots of good resturants close by." - "This property had very comfortable beds And had recently been remodeled in good taste. Beautiful sunsets and a great location. Also very private. Highly recommended. "

Come, stay and enjoy our farmhouse at Riverbend.
Located in the center of several hundred acres of longleaf pines and mixed hardwoods, sloping down to the banks of the Perdido River. Some of our favorite activities include hiking and biking on a labyrinth of well-marked roads and trails, sporting clays, excellent birding opportunities and kayaking or canoeing on the pristine Perdido River. The remote natural setting on our stretch of the river offers our most valuable asset, PRIVACY.
The space
The original homestead built in 1904 has been replaced with a new modern Farmhouse. Sleeps up to 8, with 2 bedrooms with private en suites and a bunk room holding up to four extra. Enjoy all the modern conveniences like Star-link internet, central heat & air, washer/dryer, tankless water heater, TV, dishwasher, and gas stove in a rustic setting. The large wraparound porch is perfect for watching the sun rise with your morning coffee or watching the deer at dusk. Grill under the stars with the Primo grill, add a seasonal vegetable from the big organic garden next to the house to accompany your meal.
Guest access
Once you leave the paved road follow the signs to the Farmhouse. Access to the Farmhouse is on pin pad entry and the code will be emailed 1 day before check-in.
Guests are welcome to explore the property shown on the map; including trails, roads, and river.
The wildlife is plentiful including deer, birds, wild turkey, and gopher tortoise. The long Leaf Pine Forest slopes to the Perdido Savannah offering numerous opportunities for the serious and not so serious birder and its own special flora and fauna. Numerous hiking and biking trails allow you to see the beauty of an unspoiled forest featuring both deciduous and evergreen Pines.
Canoes & kayaks are available or you may bring your own. Try your hand in one of many catch and release fishing holes from the trail that follows along the river. This is a delightful opportunity to experience a southern river bottom from a most unique perspective.
Other things to note
Birding at Riverbend
The birding opportunities at Riverbend are almost limitless. Located approximately 30 miles inland from the Gulf of Mexico we are directly in the path of the more than 100 species of Neo Tropical migrants that cross the Gulf of Mexico twice a year. From the tiny Ruby Throated Hummingbird to tanagers, grosbeaks and as many warblers as you can think of. Both the spring and fall migrations are spectacular.
In addition to a very diverse population of local birds we also greet the fall migration of North American birds that winter here. Due to the size and terrain of the property one may expect the upland and meadow birds as well as a wide variety of wetland dwellers. Several seed grain plots are maintained here on the farm to attract and feed the travelers.
Feel free to contact us with further bird inquires.
Fishing at Riverbend
Should you want to try your luck at fishing during your time at Riverbend there is nearly a mile
of the Perdido River to accommodate you. The opportunities abound either fishing from a canoe while floating the river or walking a well mowed trail that winds along its banks. The river is home to a variety of game fish generally found in southern rivers and creeks including bream, several species of sunfish, and bass, or as the ole timers called them "Green Trout". The most challenging fish to catch is the Chain Pickerel. The Chain Pickerel, for lack of a better term is a freshwater barracuda. Streamlined and sleek, it is the king of the predators in the river and is usually caught on bass lures. Averaging 2 to 3 pounds they are all fight and an anglers delight. The current state record 6lb 14 oz was caught about 3 miles below us. Fishing at Riverbend is strictly a catch and release policy. Live bait is not allowed nor is the use of treble hooks. The use of a guide is not required to fish here but guided trips can be arranged.
Sporting Clays at Riverbend
From the casual shooter to the shotgun enthusiast the sporting clays range at Riverbend offers a challenging opportunity. The course has four houses that offer a wide variety of shots
of various angles, all from a fixed stand, no walking is involved.
Private 1/2 day shoots of up to four shooters are available. Packages include 100 rounds per shooter plus our grilled specialty of the day. Inquire as to the menus, they are seasonal. A fine selection of over and under shotguns in both 12 and 20 gauge are available or you may bring your own. Coordinate with us in advance so that we can help make your shooting event at Riverbend a memorable one.
All shooting events and activities at Riverbend are conducted by our resident trapper to load and operate the machines, keep score and ensure range safety. Make plans to shoot with us and enjoy a fine day afield.
Targets included. Shells extra.
Roads and Trails
The roads and trails at Riverbend are a blend of old logging roads, fire breaks, and mowed game trails.
These wind about the property in every direction, are well marked and maps are available to help you navigate the property. The roads and trails are kept mowed and are easy to follow.
