On arrival we were all stunned at the beauty on the gardens , the wild life, the fact we appear to be the only guests. Staff were amazing as i had 1 night were we had no where to staff, and staff were able to accommodate us. If you are looking for peace tranquillity i would highly recommend this place. - "Beautiful location with lovely, comfortable accomodation. The night staff were very friendly, accomodation and helpful on our arrival. We felt very welcome. However the day time reception staff were quite abrupt and rude not only to us but we watched a few other guests get 'told off' for petty things. Was rather unfortunate to witness. It spoilt the mood immediately. The lounge area was so relaxing with gorgeous views. The pool area was nice and clean but the floors are quite smooth and slippy!"

A Sovereign wood burning stove was not only easy to light it kept the whole house warm. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the welcome pack was probably the best we’ve ever had and included Prosecco, eggs and biscuits! Dog friendly beyond anything we’ve ever experienced, with toys, towels and a cage. Attention to detail and a caring owner evident throughout. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

Please note: There is a burn running alongside the garden which can be fast flowing during periods of heavy rain.’
- "Avoca is an immaculate and well equipped cottage overlooking Whiting Bay . We enjoyed a pleasant week exploring the island" - "What a beautiful cottage and a perfect, relaxing break. Would recommend to anyone. Can't wait to come back!" - "I loved this house, a lot of thought and effort has gone into making this a special place to stay. We cooked a lot due to COVID restrictions and it was actually a pleasure as the kitchen was so nice and had everything you could possibly need. Great laundry facilities too and even a pulley which was brilliant! (I seriously need to get one). We had a few days of heavy rain but we didn’t mind being indoors as we enjoyed being in the house. We were lucky enough to see a red squirrel in the garden a few times. The garden is fully enclosed so it was great for our dog. The house was clean, comfortable and warm. It made our holiday really relaxing and enjoyable."

Shall certainly be rebooking again for next year." - "A beautiful and clean cottage. We will deffo stay here again. Thank you very much. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo" - "Great little flat, two minute walk a way from the shops and pubs! This island was beautiful. 5 min drive away from flat to ferry port, although there was a bus stop a minute walk away from the flat. The flat had everything we needed and more! The owners even left us a bottle of Prosecco! The only problem we had staying here was the water/heating system made a loud tapping noise and it was always through the night but after the second night we went to a pharmacy and bought some ear plugs so after that we were fine! We 100% would stay here again it was beautiful, perfect flat for us on a perfect little island! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

Shedock Cottage is the ideal couples base for exploring the Isle of Arran!
Over the past few years it has been completely renovated inside and out, originally a shepherds cottage it is now a very modern living space.
The entrance leads into the living room with a kitchen extension to the rear; this follows onto a private sitting area outside at the back of the cottage.
The bedroom has a double bed with fitted wardrobe. There is a bath with shower in the bathroom next to the bedroom. Heating throughout the cottage is electric with flame effect fire in the living room.
The location of the cottage gives easy access to all the Island has to offer.
Blackwaterfoot is 2 miles away where you will find one of the best beaches on the Island and a choice of shops including Butcher, Artisan baker, Garage and General store which sells everything you need.
Walking, Hiking, Cycling and Golf are very popular with our guests and we're happy to recommend routes or locations if you're looking for some inspiration!
- "The cottage is cosy, clean and very inviting. Shiskine is a wonderful place to stay, quiet and very appealing. It's very close to Blackwaterfoot, which is beautiful. The Kinloch Hotel does marvellous meals (takeaways too). What really makes the stay worthwhile is the landlady, Jan. Last year, when we couldn't get off the island due to ferry problems, Jan put us up for an extra with no charge. This year, the same problem occurred and, while we were at Lochranza, she texted me to check things were OK. I assured her we were going via Claonaig, but just the idea that she was thinking of us is above and beyond the call of duty. We'd thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. Visit Arran. Stay at Shiskine. You won't be disappointed."

- "We had a lovely time at Learig and in Maidens. Lovely cottage and garden plus great hosts who were happy to help plus give us space to do what we wanted. Lovely area to explore with Turnberry and beaches, then Culzean Castle and Park the other side, then Dunure Castle a little further up the coast. A quiet area with nice places to eat such as Wildings and Souters. We would certainly have no hesitation in going back when some of more of the sites open up, but ideal for a place to escape the chaos and of city life in these unsure times. We are an extended family ranging from 5 to 82 years (and a small dog), travelling from Oxfordshire and France and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay. The house is absolutely HUGE, spotless, well equipped and of high quality. We had lovely fires in the evenings, fire pits on the patio, games in the garden, champagne in the hot tub, walks around the nearby woods and meals in the enormous kitchen. Ermedale is a traditional 1930s cottage located on the shores of Loch Ranza with splendid views of the surrounding hills, loch and castle. The cottage can sleep 6 (max 5 adults or children aged 10+). It has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom leading off the entrance hall and - somewhat quirkily - a further double bedroom, accessed through the front twin. There are large front and back gardens, with seating and stunning views.
The space
NOTES: As a result of limited facilities for laundry we ask you to bring your own bed linen (sheets, pillowslips and duvet covers) and bath towels. If you cannot manage this please contact us and we can arrange something at an extra charge.
The living room leads through to a fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There are also two bathrooms, both of which are equipped with showers (no baths). One bathroom is ensuite to the front double, accessed through the twin bedroom.
The sitting room is small and comfortable for 5 adults. There is no additional charge for infants. A folding cot is available if required (mattress measures 94 cm x 65 cm).
Guest access
The whole of the property is accessible including front hut except for the loft space (ladder access only hence not accessible or suitable in terms of fire hazard) and the back hut.
Other things to note
The Scottish short term let license number is: NA00400F. The license is for 5 people aged 10+ so it can sleep, for example, 5 adults and a child below 10 years old (max 6 occupants).
Note that Ermedale was internally extensively refurbished in 2023-24 to improve its environmental performance and comfort via additional wall and floor insulation, double glazing, providing an air-to-air heating system along with refitted kitchen, bathroom and carpets. Additional fire and security updates are in accordance with Scottish law. The EPC rating was assessed in November 2024 as improving from F25 to E47. Note that while this is a considerable improvement we had expected better. We understand the EPC tool had not been updated at the time to accommodate air-to-air heat pumps fully and struggles somewhat with mixed construction periods. However the outcome can be felt irrespective of this… Please enjoy!
