Urquhart Bay Croft is a brand new luxury self-catered renovation with beautiful views across Loch Ness and Glen Urquhart.

Downstairs it has a double height entrance hallway, one king-size bedroom, and separate family bathroom, while upstairs it boasts a fully equipped open plan kitchen/dining area, lounge with comfy sofa and free standing log burner, and double doors opening to decked area and the wider south facing garden.
We are Simon and Annie Greenlay. We first saw Urquhart Bay cottage in 2014 and fell in love with it. We have run Urquhart Bay BnB for 2yrs(see our other listings for reviews). We knew immediately that we wanted to live in this peaceful place with its one-of-a-kind views over Loch Ness.

The Croft is our latest project that we have put our heart and soul into, and look forward to sharing it with our guests.

The Croft is ideally situated close to the beautiful Highland village of Drumnadrochit, and is only a 2 minute walk from the iconic Urquhart Castle. It sits in extensive private gardens to explore offering stunning views of Loch Ness and Glen Urquhart.

Downstairs, there is a large kingsize bedroom with original bothy window offering views from the bed across the loch, and a separate luxury bathroom with roll-top bath and separate shower with rain head. Upstairs, there is a large open plan kitchen/diner and lounge with free standing log burner, that also has a pull out sofa bed for children. We have worked with local craftsmen to restore and enhance the original building, so that you are never far from a view of the Loch(even from your bed!), and couldn’t be closer to the iconic Urquhart Castle, just a few minutes’ walk away.

For the cosier evenings we have a large log burner, SMART TV and high speed WiFi available throughout.

The Croft is furnished to a very high standard, with many items hand crafted and knitted. Guests can expect high quality toiletries, Egyptian cotton linen throughout, and we are happy to provide fresh eggs from our free range highland hens.

The Croft is a great base to explore the highlands, and there are many walking routes directly from the doorstep to explore the local views across the iconic Loch, or bump into some of the local wildlife such as many local deer or birds of prey who live near the Loch.

We have plenty of parking available and are a short walk from the local village of Drumnadrochit.

Acquired in 2011 and run by a local trust for the benefit of two Inverness school boys, Riverview has been operated as a holiday let for almost thirty years.

Riverview cottage will comfortably accommodate four people in two bedrooms.

The kitchen, lounge and master bedroom are all dual aspect rooms, making the cottage a cosy but light and airy place to be.

The lounge has a feature fireplace with the thick walls retaining heat in the winter but keeping it cool in the summer.

The kitchen has been recently refitted with modern wall and base units and is well equipped while also providing room for dining.

You will find one double bedroom and one twin bedroom along with a shower room fitted with the usual electric shower, toilet, sink and shaver points.

Outside you have a private garden ground to the rear as well as side and front garden with established borders, trees and shrubs. There is a private drive with parking space enough for three or four cars. There is drive in drive out access, so no awkward reversing and turning.

Riverview cottage also benefits from it's own small area of woodland leading to the banks of the river Enrick.

The cottage is run on the simple premise of keeping life easy and honest.

As a holiday destination we must apologise that we do not take business or commercial lets.

DISABLED ACCESS:
There are no specific disabled modifications and no wheelchair access. But RiverView is all on one level with two small steps at the entrance and a very small step between lounge and entrance hall. We have though recently added grab handles at the front door and in the shower, as these will assist our more ‘senior’ guests.

This lovely semi-detached, single-storey cottage is based in the busy village of Drumnadrochit, making it an ideal base for those wishing to explore the Highlands. A short walk from the village will take you to the shores of Loch Ness and the stunning ruins of Urqhuart Castle. Slightly further afield, Glen Affric, Glen Urqhuart and The Great Glen Way offer superb walking and cycling, whilst the Moray Coastline is dotted with unspoilt sandy beaches, abundant wildlife and boat trips to spot dolphins. Follow the Strathspey whisky trail to sample a wee dram, or head south to Fort Augustus where Loch Ness joins the Caledonian Canal. For the outdoor enthusiasts, mountain biking, hill walking, horse riding, golf and a variety of water sports are available nearby. Drive the popular North Coast 500 which boasts magnificent scenery, explore the Cairngorms National Park, visit the magical Isle of Skye, or from Fort William you can head up the mountain in a gondola. Within the village there are several places to eat, drink and shop. Inverness, the Highland capital, is only 15 miles away and can be reached by bus or car. Shop 600 yards, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Only a mile from the popular village of Drumnadrochit, a holiday in Heron’s Rest Cottage can be as relaxing or action packed as you wish. The name Heron’s Rest relates to the resident Heron which can regularly be seen in the river, just a short stroll from the cottage where there is also a seating area to admire the view and catch a glimpse of the wildlife. Drumnadrochit is set on the shores of Loch Ness and at the head of Urquhart Bay, and has a good selection of shops and places to eat. The village also boasts to be the home of the official Loch Ness Monster Exhibition, or you can explore the ruins of historic Urquhart Castle.

There are many attractions of scenic and historical interest within easy reach, including Culloden Battlefield, Fort George and Cawdor and Brodie castles, or take a trip along the Malt Whisky Trail – the only one of its kind in the world! Visit some beautifully scenic fishing villages of the Moray coastline, voted one of the world’s top 20 coastal destinations. Inverness, the Highland Capital, is only 14 miles away where you will find a large variety of shops, fine restaurants, pubs, a theatre, museums and galleries.

This is a cottage we would recommend to couples who want to relax and enjoy a quiet time very near to a great little village. We cannot praise Herons rest and the owners enough this with the beautiful surrounds and the great weather made our holiday worth while.
