Nyumbani is a traditional single storey Skye cottage situated in its own wrap around gardens overlooking beautiful Loch Harport on the stunning west coast of the Isle of Skye. Nyumbani mean 'our home', in Swahili, and this aptly describes this attractive cottage, with its homely lounge/dining room with open fire, deep leather sofas, family sized kitchen and 3 generously proportioned bedrooms. There is a lovely conservatory that provides a second lounge area, with large flat screen TV and DVD. Doors open onto the fully enclosed gardens that surround the property. Bed linen & towels provided.
- "As the headline for the listing says, it was a perfect base for our exploring the Skye. Keith was responsive when we needed him. The house was clean, warm, cozy, provided all we needed for our stay, and offered an amazing view of the loch and surrounding mountains. We really enjoyed the Old Inn just a mile away and the Talisker distillery visit." - "Fab cottage in great location. Really suitable for walkers as there is a large utility room with plenty hooks for outdoor gear and boots (direct access from outside) Very big property for 6 people with a living room & sun room. Did not get a tv channels ( it might have been us not knowing how) but there was wifi so could watch on line on phone if wanted. Easy to get to Fairy Pools and I preferred the walk from Glenbrittle campside around the bay. Easy to get to Dunvegan & Portree."

Gramarye cottage, a traditional two bedroom former croft-house, recently re-furbished and positioned in a large enclosed garden, is located eight miles south of Portree at Peinachorran, Braes. In a spectacular location less than 100 meters from the shoreline the seaward facing cottage offers unparalleled views across the Sound of Raasay to the Isle of Raasay and on towards the Scottish mainland. Gramarye Cottage is located in the rural crofting township of Peinachorran, tucked just below the road as the Peinachorran sign is passed, facing the stunning view out to the Isle of Raasay and the mainland beyond. Set within a mature terraced garden of a third of an acre the cottage has access through a garden gate to the shore line with a vista that ranges from the sandy beaches of An Aird, to the extinct volcano on Raasay, the wildness of Scalpay and the magnificence of the Red Cuillin. Portree, the largest town on the island, is only ten minutes by car offering supermarkets, two petrol stations, banks, shops and a Tourist Information Centre. From the road, a sweeping path of gradually descending broad steps leads to the front door of the cottage.
- "Location and cottage is what you dream of when visiting scotland. Bit of drive off main road but with the views it is worth it. It was one of our highlights of our month in Scotland. Hostess was lovely and best we interacted with. Hope to come back." - "The house is in a super position overlooking sheep meadows leading down to the sea loch. Every comfort was provided (including warm radiators for the chilly evenings) as well as wood burning stoves for which our host brought us extra kindling during our stay."

Raven Cottage features a lounge with a woodburning stove for cosy nights in. There is a TV and a DVD player well stocked with DVD's for your enjoyment. We have super fast Starlink satellite Wi-Fi with download speeds of about 200mbps. The kitchen/dining room is modern with all conveniences, including a dishwasher and seats six comfortably.
There is a large utility/cloak room with washing machine and tumble dryer and further inner cloakroom/store for all the things you never know where to put.
On the ground level there are two bedrooms; one double and one bunk room with full size beds sharing a bathroom (bath and overhead shower).
Upstairs, accessed by an Italian beech spiral staircase, is the master bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room. There is also a reading and games area with table football.
Outside is a large fully enclosed garden for children to play and explore (being aware of the stream mentioned below) and for all to enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery and the local wildlife (including ravens, buzzards, owls, bats, golden and sea eagles and occasionally otters and pine martens). The Allt nam Fitheach stream marks the easterly boundary of the garden and can be enjoyed from the overhanging decking. There is a shed that houses garden chairs etc and has space to store bikes etc. Glenbrittle Forest is across from the stream and offers excellent walking and cycling with magnificent views of the Cuillins. There is also a sea kayak put in point less than 2km from the cottage. It’s only about a 10 minute drive to Carbost with local amenities (shop, pub, distillery, cafes etc) and a 15 minute drive (depending on number of camper vans) to the Slig and Fairy pools for trips into the Cuillins.
- "We were lucky to have a week to explore Skye and used Raven Cottage as our base. Despite being slightly remote, the cottage is only a short drive from the main road and central to nearly everything on the island. The cottage is sublimely peaceful. The cottage was very clean. The loft bedroom was spacious. Great kitchen and the utility room with washer & dryer was a great bonus. Our only complaint was the WiFi was agonizingly slow and sometimes unavailable. We'd love to see that improved. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this cottage."

This quiet, tranquil town offers a large variety of cultural attractions too. The Aros Centre, with its programme of concerts, theatre and cinema is well worth visiting and sports enthusiasts will be well catered for by the wealth of sea kayaking, rock-climbing and a good choice of well-marked walks across the island. - "This home was absolutely lovely. It was literally across the road from the ocean and the views from all windows were breathtaking. We had a person in a wheelchair with us and were able to stay here with no issues whatsoever. Other than a few steps to enter the home, it was quite accessible. The doorways were wide, there were two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, and a large dining room which we used to gather and spend time as a family. The home was perfect. For future travelers I'd highly suggest stopping at a shop for snacks, drinks and food as there are no restaurants, shops or pubs within walking distance. We thought we'd be able to pop in somewhere for things to eat in the home but were not able to so as long as you plan for that, you'll be all set. Thank you for making this home available for our stay. We'd highly recommend! Cheers from the USA!"

The cottage has been restored by the current owner with the main outcome being to preserve the cottage and the byre. Once through the porch you are welcomed by the living area which is the full width of the original house and complete with a wood burner at the far end and comfortable leather sofas on either side. You will find a bookcase full of books, games, DVDs and an album describing the renovation process that the owner went through for over two years to get the house up to the luxury standard it is. The kitchen and dining areas have a full picture window for you to watch the wildlife, and also where you will see some wonderful night skies. On this floor is a bedroom (originally the byre) with very quirky windows, along with a wet room. Heading up the bespoke staircase you will see some of the artifacts that the owner discovered whist renovating the house. There are two bedrooms, again with lovely southerly views from the master, and a beautiful bathroom with a round bath. Outside, the garden is enclosed, and the smell of Skye air cannot be found anywhere else; it makes you feel alive, and during your stay you will see all four seasons, possibly in the one day.
There are walks form the cottage to the nearby Spar Caves, where you can take a coastal walk to Elgol and to the beach. There are fairy pools at the foot of the Blaven mountain which is a short drive from Glasnakille. Other things to look out for nearby is Dun Grugaig Iron Age Fort which is perched on the top of a cliff. Whether you decide to go for a drive and visit the rest of the Island, or if you want to stay closer to home, you will have an amazing time creating wonderful memories of your trip to Skye and to the Stone Cottage.
