Avoca is a charming period house with stunning views over Whiting Bay. Inside the house has the feel of a beach house with its traditional style, cosy, easy living with all your comforts in mind. Avoca has a kitchen/garden room come diner, lounge, entrance hall with downstairs toilet. There are two bedrooms one with a king size bed and the other with two single beds which can be joined, both rooms have TVs and dressing tables. The bathroom has a double ended bath with shower.
The kitchen/diner has a huge picture window overlooking the beech tree and burn which runs along the side of the garden. In the winter with the leaves off the tree you can sit on the window seats and soak up the stunning view of Holy Isle which are revealed. If that view is not enough all the rooms have windows which face the bay maximising the view and the sunrise. Also giving a prime location to watch the varied ships and naval excersises on the Clyde. The lounge has two sofas and woodburning stove with a 40 inch smart TV. Delightfully appealing and beautifully situated there is a lovely patio at the back which is an e perfect sun trap, surrounding the patio the extensively planted garden bursts with colour.
Avoca sits elevated from the road and looks down onto the village of Whiting Bay which is perfect for the many eating places and cafes, sitting, walking, swimming, beach combing, angling, kayaking, biking and putting. The island also has 7 challenging golf courses. Whiting Bay is surrounded by its many beautiful walks, The Point at Kings Cross, Glenashdale Falls, Giants Graves, Eas Mhor, Kildonan beach for its seals and otters and the forest trails are easy to access for mountain biking.
Or relax and soak up the view and watch the native red squirrel, the yellow wagtail patrol the burn and the swans on the bay that come down for the night from Avocas scenic garden.
Please note: There is a burn running alongside the garden which can be fast flowing during periods of heavy rain.’
- "Avoca is an immaculate and well equipped cottage overlooking Whiting Bay . We enjoyed a pleasant week exploring the island" - "What a beautiful cottage and a perfect, relaxing break. Would recommend to anyone. Can't wait to come back!" - "I loved this house, a lot of thought and effort has gone into making this a special place to stay. We cooked a lot due to COVID restrictions and it was actually a pleasure as the kitchen was so nice and had everything you could possibly need. Great laundry facilities too and even a pulley which was brilliant! (I seriously need to get one). We had a few days of heavy rain but we didn’t mind being indoors as we enjoyed being in the house. We were lucky enough to see a red squirrel in the garden a few times. The garden is fully enclosed so it was great for our dog. The house was clean, comfortable and warm. It made our holiday really relaxing and enjoyable."

Shedock Cottage is the ideal couples base for exploring the Isle of Arran!
Over the past few years it has been completely renovated inside and out, originally a shepherds cottage it is now a very modern living space.
The entrance leads into the living room with a kitchen extension to the rear; this follows onto a private sitting area outside at the back of the cottage.
The bedroom has a double bed with fitted wardrobe. There is a bath with shower in the bathroom next to the bedroom. Heating throughout the cottage is electric with flame effect fire in the living room.
The location of the cottage gives easy access to all the Island has to offer.
Blackwaterfoot is 2 miles away where you will find one of the best beaches on the Island and a choice of shops including Butcher, Artisan baker, Garage and General store which sells everything you need.
Walking, Hiking, Cycling and Golf are very popular with our guests and we're happy to recommend routes or locations if you're looking for some inspiration!
- "The cottage is cosy, clean and very inviting. Shiskine is a wonderful place to stay, quiet and very appealing. It's very close to Blackwaterfoot, which is beautiful. The Kinloch Hotel does marvellous meals (takeaways too). What really makes the stay worthwhile is the landlady, Jan. Last year, when we couldn't get off the island due to ferry problems, Jan put us up for an extra with no charge. This year, the same problem occurred and, while we were at Lochranza, she texted me to check things were OK. I assured her we were going via Claonaig, but just the idea that she was thinking of us is above and beyond the call of duty. We'd thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. Visit Arran. Stay at Shiskine. You won't be disappointed."

- "The cottage was beautiful and had everything we needed for our Christmas break. Just a couple of comments, the shower curtain in the downstairs bathroom fell off a couple of times and we had to fix it. The parking could have been explained better as we were unsure where to park and neighbours asked us to move our car a couple of times." - "Stunning cottage, beautifully renovated-the owners have thought of absolutely everything and the cottage is clearly a work of love and passion. All services and amenities just down the road in Brodick. Altbeg really was the perfect holiday getaway, our only hesitation in reviewing it as highly as it deserves is we’d like to keep this wonderful discovery to ourselves 🥰"

- "Our first impression of the stay was not a good one because the provided "get directions" link to Google Maps (and Google Maps searching itself) takes you to lat/long coordinates that are several hundred yards across away in a pasture. We pulled up at 9pm Saturday night and tried calling the number provided, and it said "office is closed" -- fortunately, there were people in a cottage at the wrong location who had seen the issue before and pointed us to the right place. The lockbox check in worked fine. Place was clean in general but had a musty smell, I think it was from the vacuum cleaner or something else in the front cabinet. It was not something that kept us from staying, so minor but wanted to mention it. We did like the location. The coin-fed operation of the electricity was annoying at times -- it cut off twice when someone was in the shower. (It is mentioned in the property description.) We like the little town of Lamlash, so no qualms about the location on the island. Overall, it is a cute little cottage and served its purpose. We did very much appreciate the 1GBP coins left by the owner so that we did not have to pay for the electricity ourselves. If that is the norm, they need to yank that thing out and remove the headache of feeding that machine for us renters. They need to fix the google maps location and directions link. All this said, we'd probably stay again now that we're familiar with the place's quirks."

A traditional two-storey cottage with thick stone walls, and situated close to the distillery, SQLArran Cottage is cosy and welcoming with fantastic sea views over Lochranza Bay. Lochranza sits at the northern end of the island of Arran, sheltered by hills, with Lochranza Castle sitting on a shingle spit into the loch. The village is built around the loch and has a large population of red deer, as well as golden eagles, seals, and otters. There are many attractions, including the Isle of Arran Distillery and an 18-hole golf course. There is a ferry terminus that allows quick access to the stunning west of Scotland via Claonaig, Kintyre. Amenities include a post office and seafood restaurant, which is renowned for excellent food, and a hotel with bar and walking trails. The whisky distillery has a café, excellent gift shop and regular tours. You can venture south to the busier villages of Brodick and Lamlash with plenty of added options to enjoy.
Brodick, the main town on the island, has two largish supermarkets and a full range of professional services, cafés, restaurants and shops. Arran could almost be Scotland in miniature! There are stunning mountains, forests, beaches and glens to discover, visit and explore, ideal for someone looking for an active holiday. You can cycle round the island in a day, enjoy a walk-up Goat Fell, the island’s biggest mountain with spectacular views from the top, walk a section of the Arran Coastal Way, or there are beautiful golf courses if you like to take things a little more slowly. Wherever you go, you are surrounded by Arran’s breath-taking scenery. The wildlife on Arran is abundant, and you may just catch a glimpse of otters, eagles, basking sharks and porpoises, but you will most definitely see seal colonies and so many species of birds. There’s plenty of history at Brodick Castle, the ancient seat of power, or Lochranza Castle, with its underground prison. Arran is also really well known for its local produce, so it’s a great chance to enjoy the local cheese, beer and whisky. Travel to Arran is via a Caledonian MacBrayne ferry. Prestwick International Airport is 16 miles to the south of Ardrossan, with Glasgow International Airport 24 miles east of Ardrossan. You can also travel from Tarbert in Kintyre to Lochranza, at the north end of Arran, which takes 30 minutes. Lochranza is a half hour drive from Brodick. There are no shops or supermarkets in Lochranza.

- "Lovely well-equipped cottage in a quiet, rural location. Lots of hot water for exceptional, deep baths after long days walking. Friendly staff looking after the accommodation - responsive and helpful. Lochranza is in such a scenic location and the cottage was just a nice distance away for walking to the local pub, for lunch at the Distillery and visiting the castle. We'd love to visit again."
