We had to use the towels to sop up the water and had none for our showering needs. Again, the folks at the café called him for us and he had not shown up before we left. It definitely marred an otherwise nice holiday. "

Avoca is a charming period house with stunning views over Whiting Bay. Inside the house has the feel of a beach house with its traditional style, cosy, easy living with all your comforts in mind. The kitchen/diner has a huge picture window overlooking the beech tree and burn which runs along the side of the garden. In the winter with the leaves off the tree you can sit on the window seats and soak up the stunning view of Holy Isle which are revealed. If that view is not enough all the rooms have windows which face the bay maximising the view and the sunrise. Also giving a prime location to watch the varied ships and naval excersises on the Clyde. The lounge has two sofas and woodburning stove with a 40 inch smart TV. Delightfully appealing and beautifully situated there is a lovely patio at the back which is an e perfect sun trap, surrounding the patio the extensively planted garden bursts with colour.

Avoca sits elevated from the road and looks down onto the village of Whiting Bay which is perfect for the many eating places and cafes, sitting, walking, swimming, beach combing, angling, kayaking, biking and putting. The island also has 7 challenging golf courses. Whiting Bay is surrounded by its many beautiful walks, The Point at Kings Cross, Glenashdale Falls, Giants Graves, Eas Mhor, Kildonan beach for its seals and otters and the forest trails are easy to access for mountain biking.

Or relax and soak up the view and watch the native red squirrel, the yellow wagtail patrol the burn and the swans on the bay that come down for the night from Avocas scenic garden.

- "This place is a little gem! It's small and rustic but immaculate and Isobel has thought of every little detail to make your stay comfortable. There is space for a car if you're driving (although I brought my bike!) The cottage sits at the back of the owners property, but they were very discreet and I did not see them all week (although I knew they were there if I needed anything!). The kitchen has every utensil you can think of which is perfect for a self catering option. There is also a washing machine if you need it, and a lovely garden area for drying (if you get the weather!) The bed was comfortable and there is a separate dressing area with hair dryer - iron - etc. Honestly, a wonderful little place and I will 100% be back - highly recommended! The lounge/kitchen /dining area is open plan andwell furnished with Smart TV, Sky+Satellite TV, DVD player, Nintendo WiiandWi-Fi. The dining area has an extendable table with seating for 8 and the kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker and hob, fridge anda dishwasher. There is a separate utility room with a washing machine, freezerand microwave with additional grill and fan oven facility.
Bedroom 1 has a double bed with an ensuite shower room, Bedroom 2 has a double bed and Bedroom 3 has a triple bunk (double bed and single bed). There is a separate family bathroom with a bath and shower. A high chair and travel cot are available, on request.

- "Ar Fasgadh is a wonderful, wonderful cottage. Cleanliness and comfort. Small things made a big difference. The only thing we needed to bring was food we were eating for the week! Other than that ~ EVERYTHING is there ~ dish soap, salt & pepper etc. We were able to use a lot of Susan & Gerry's recreational things ~ like outdoor chairs, golf clubs etc. So great. Another thing we appreciated is Susan & Gerry's support of local businesses. There was soap, lotion etc from local merchants and even milk in the fridge in a bottle that we used to fill at Cameron's in Blackwaterfoot. The welcome box when we arrived was so appreciated ~ bread, cheese, oatcakes and prosecco. What a gift. We will definately be back! Thank you."

The Creagan in Corrie is a traditional detached cottage, set in an elevated position, offering fabulous sea views. The village of Corrie runs along the east coast of Arran and is just 6 miles from the main village of Brodick. It is a common spot to watch seals bobbing around in the sea, and some lucky people will even catch a glimpse of a pod of dolphins at times.

This coastal property is located up a hill, just off the main road, allowing these wonderful, uninterrupted sea views to be enjoyed from the decking. Inside this cosy cottage, many traditional features have been retained, such as the internal doors, the wooden panelling, original roll-top bath and the open fire in the living room. The wood burner in the kitchen/dining area adds to the cottage feel, allowing guests to relax in a warm and cosy atmosphere. During the warmer months, you can open up the patio doors from the dining area out onto the decking, and bring the outside in. The decking is a great place to relax in the sun with a glass of wine, after enjoying an adventure around the Isle of Arran.

For those not wanting to travel too far, just wander down to the local hotel for some lunch and drinks in the seaside-located beer garden, or taste some seafood dishes in the local fish deli. Corrie also has a children’s play park, and the local village hall and hotel hold events and live music at times throughout the year. The Creagan at Corrie is also perfect for a weekend break.
