Built as a fishing port in the late 18th century, Tobermory is a renowned for its picture postcard colour and is the main town on Mull with a good variety of shops, hotels, cafés, and bars. The harbour is always busy with fishing boats, yachts, and the ferry to and from Kilchoan. There are some beautiful walks from Tobermory, a stroll out to the Lighthouse at Rubha nan Gall or a more strenuous walk into Aros Park. Tobermory is an ideal location as a base for wildlife watching on the Isle of Mull which is well known for the re-introduction of white-tailed eagles which can be seen throughout the length and breadth of the island, including Tobermory.
Daily Boat trips leave Tobermory for trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles as the seas off the coast of Mull are important feeding areas for whales, dolphins, and basking sharks. With luck you may catch a glimpse of a rare golden eagle, otter, corncrake or many of other birds and mammals seen on the island. The Isle of Mull sits off the west coast of Scotland and is the second largest of the inner Hebridean islands. Easily accessible from the mainland with car and passenger ferries running regularly from the mainland with the main route being from Oban to Craignure via Caledonian MacBrayne. Your bedroom does indeed have a sea view. It is centrally heated with double glazing and has a divan based single bed with an extra deep comfortable sprung mattress, with 100% cotton bedding and a wool-filled double duvet for added warmth and comfort along with bedside cabinet and reading lamp, wardrobe and drawers. Pure wool blankets and a hot water bottle is also available.
The shower room with wash basin and toilet is across the landing but is for your exclusive use only. PLEASE NOTE: This is not an ensuite. A bathrobe and towels are provided along with 'Scottish Fine Soap' toiletries - hand wash, body & hair shampoo. John enjoys a wee blether or two and loves to engage with guests.
You won't have access to the kitchen (although we are happy to store food items in the fridge or freezer for you if we have space). The back garden, office, laundry room, and our family quarters are also private and unavailable for guest use.
Evening meals are available in the village pub next door (The Keel Row), or if you enjoy freshly caught local seafood, The Creel at the top of the pier during the main season (April-Sept) along with traditional fish & chips. We can provide packed lunches (order forms in your room), and there is a lovely wee café and farm shop called The Lazy Cow about a mile walk from Seaview serving delicious freshly cooked food.

Rowan Cottage is one that beckons the visitor to Mull back time and time again. It is in absolutely immaculate condition, very high standards of cleanliness being a top priority. Rowan cottage is situated in Salen on the main road north from Craignure. Salen is at the very crossroad of this beautiful island making it ideal for exploring both north and south of the island. Within a hundred yards, one can take advantage of an hotel, Spar shop, coffee shop and a restaurant and a petrol station
The space
The cottage is an intriguing combination of one one Salen`s oldest and yet is a tastefully update cottage with every modern appliance one would expect, especially the breakfasting kitchen It has a cosy lounge with an open fire, the bedrooms beautifully decorated and the toilet/shower room is small but more than adequate and the occasional low ceiling reminds one that this is a cottage that has origins in the past. Not many of those have escaped the ravages of time so is a real gem. A great bonus is that there private parking opposite the cottage with a large barbecue area just behind in a wonderful expanse of lawn.

Lyndale is a detached bungalow situated in Western Road, a quiet location only 5 minutes’ walk from Tobermory's famous Main Street. The house is in an elevated position and has stunning views over Tobermory Bay and across the Sound of Mull to Morvern.

Lyndale is part of a small development of 3 bungalows built in the early 1980s. There is a children's playground area and public tennis courts less than 100 yards away. Lyndale has a large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and a large lounge with 3 big windows to maximise the wonderful views. Lyndale is a 5 minute walk from Tobermory Bay, pubs, restaurants and shops. Lyndale is in a lovely peaceful area of Tobermory. The Golf Course is just up the road with fabulous golf, walks and views. The property has large windows facing South and West with superb, uninterrupted views over Tobermory Bay, Calve Island, Aros Park, the mountains of Mull, the Sound of Mull and Morvern on the mainland. There is a fenced garden to all 4 sides of the house with well-established shrubs and lawns. Washing line & outdoor tap. The West side of the garden borders farmland which is used to graze sheep. This is a beautifully maintained property located about 10 minutes walk from Tobermory. It’s quite a steep hill leading into town, so walking back up is a little challenging!

The space
The cottage is located just before entering Tobermory. It is set in a small, very safe, private hamlet with a small number of holiday properties nearby . Blacksmiths has an elevated position and is surrounded by open countryside and views looking over towards the sea and Ardnamurchan. The cottage has its own private walled garden with seating area and outdoor chiminea. There is also a private shed with storage for bicycles etc. There is plenty of parking right outside the cottage for 2 or 3 vehicles.
This is a very spacious cottage which will easily accommodate one or two couples or families of 3 or 4. The cottage is just two minutes drive and ten minutes walk down to the photogenic town of Tobermory. Be aware that the walk back up to the cottage from the village is steep!
On entering the cottage there is a lovely light entrance hall with stone floor, oak bench, storage for boots etc and hanging for coats etc. There is a downstairs cloakroom/bathroom with washbasin, shower and W.C. this makes an excellent drying room in wet weather! There is a large spacious dining kitchen with fully fitted units, dishwasher, washer drier microwave & toaster and air fryer. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped for those wanting to self cater. The dining area has a large oak dining table which comfortably seats 6 people.
The attractive sitting room is beautifully furnished with two sofas, large footstool, side tables and a lovely wood burning stove for cosy winter nights. There are wool blinds and thick wool tartan curtains which add to the luxurious feel of the room. There is a Bose bluetooth speaker system and smart TV.
There is a feature oak staircase leading up to the spacious landing and two lovely bedrooms (both with open views across the countryside). There is a king room with large king sized bed, bed side tables, chest of drawers and a spacious wardrobe with plenty of hanging space. There is a spacious en-suite bathroom with large shower, WC and wash basin vanity unit.
There is then a large second bedroom with twin beds, walk in wardrobe, chest of drawers and bed side table. Both rooms come with hairdryers.
Throughout the property attention has been give to soft furnishings and colours with Farrow & Ball paint chosen for most rooms. Our cottage is literally a home from home location of which we are very proud. We delight in sharing our holiday home with appreciative guests!
Guest access
The cottage is entirely yours for the duration of your stay. You may have frequent visitors in the form of ponies in the field at the back of the house and sometimes ducks and hens which live locally. Other than that - peaceful bliss!
