Raven Cottage features a lounge with a woodburning stove for cosy nights in. There is a TV and a DVD player well stocked with DVD's for your enjoyment. We have super fast Starlink satellite Wi-Fi with download speeds of about 200mbps. The kitchen/dining room is modern with all conveniences, including a dishwasher and seats six comfortably.
There is a large utility/cloak room with washing machine and tumble dryer and further inner cloakroom/store for all the things you never know where to put.

On the ground level there are two bedrooms; one double and one bunk room with full size beds sharing a bathroom (bath and overhead shower).

Upstairs, accessed by an Italian beech spiral staircase, is the master bedroom with king size bed and en suite shower room. There is also a reading and games area with table football.

Outside is a large fully enclosed garden for children to play and explore (being aware of the stream mentioned below) and for all to enjoy the magnificent mountain scenery and the local wildlife (including ravens, buzzards, owls, bats, golden and sea eagles and occasionally otters and pine martens). The Allt nam Fitheach stream marks the easterly boundary of the garden and can be enjoyed from the overhanging decking. There is a shed that houses garden chairs etc and has space to store bikes etc. Glenbrittle Forest is across from the stream and offers excellent walking and cycling with magnificent views of the Cuillins. There is also a sea kayak put in point less than 2km from the cottage. It’s only about a 10 minute drive to Carbost with local amenities (shop, pub, distillery, cafes etc) and a 15 minute drive (depending on number of camper vans) to the Slig and Fairy pools for trips into the Cuillins.

- "We were lucky to have a week to explore Skye and used Raven Cottage as our base. Despite being slightly remote, the cottage is only a short drive from the main road and central to nearly everything on the island. The cottage is sublimely peaceful. The cottage was very clean. The loft bedroom was spacious. Great kitchen and the utility room with washer & dryer was a great bonus. Our only complaint was the WiFi was agonizingly slow and sometimes unavailable. We'd love to see that improved. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this cottage."

The Boathouse lies 12 miles from both of the main towns on the island, Portree and Broadford so is centrally located to see all the sights you may want to see. The Isle of Skye Golf course is a 5 minute walk away from the house, you can also hire clubs here.

The Boathouse has regular visits from Otters and Seals and an incredible variety of sea birds. A good idea to bring binoculars if you can. The spectacular Cuillin mountains are just a few miles away with waterfall walks with mountain backdrops.
We can have the most breath taking sunrises across the Loch and occasionally we see the Northern Lights in the Autumn to Spring months.
The is a regular passenger and car ferry to the Island of Raasay, which is stunningly beautiful and peaceful and boasts it's own whiskey and gin distillery.
Sconser Lodge hotel is a couple of minutes away where you pre-book a table in their restaurant. They serve freshly dived for Sconser scallops and other locally sourced produce. Three miles further on the A87 you'll find the Sligachan Hotel. It has an open restaurant and also an award winning bar where you'll find over 400 different brands of whiskey, the bar also has live music.
The Noost is a newly opened takeway which serves delicious cakes/coffee and Ice Cream, it is situated beside the Sconser Ferry terminal which is a 5 minute walk away.

We had a person in a wheelchair with us and were able to stay here with no issues whatsoever. Other than a few steps to enter the home, it was quite accessible. The doorways were wide, there were two bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs, and a large dining room which we used to gather and spend time as a family. The home was perfect. For future travelers I'd highly suggest stopping at a shop for snacks, drinks and food as there are no restaurants, shops or pubs within walking distance. We thought we'd be able to pop in somewhere for things to eat in the home but were not able to so as long as you plan for that, you'll be all set. Cosy 2 bedroom cottage in Carbost, Isle of Skye. The cottage is situated across the road from the famous Talisker whisky distillery and it has stunning views of loch harport. The house is very close to all amenities in the village, including a coffee shop, pub, community shop, bakery and seafood restaurant. Carbost is an excellent base for hillwalking, climbing, fishing, golfing or just exploring the beautiful Isle of Skye.

This Old School, which was last used as such around 1930, has the large original schoolroom equipped with table tennis, darts and other games and is ideal for evenings and wet weather. The cottage is situated on its own (the nearest house is about a quarter mile away) about half a mile above Carbost village, well-known for the Talisker Distillery. There's also a shop, a post office and The Old Inn in the village is known for its very tasty bar meals. You pass The Oyster Shed on the way!

The nearest shopping centre is Portree, about 18 miles away.

The sitting room (actually one half of a large kitchen/sitting room) has a wood burning stove (as well as electric heaters and a small storage radiator) and comfortable sofas and chairs providing a cosy place for passing those wet or midgey Skye evenings! There is a selection of books and games as well as playing cards and jigsaw puzzles. There is no television but there is free WIFI which usually works very well and a radio/CD player.

Kitchen
The other half of the kitchen/sitting room is a well equipped kitchen that provides everything that you need to cater for 6 people, except of course food and drink! In addition to full sets of crockery, glasses and cutlery, and a wide selection of pans and utensils the equipment includes:

School Room (This takes up almost the whole of the front of the cottage to the right of the central chimney and is accessed through a separate door.)
The large old school room is one of the great assets of the cottage. It has been equipped with table tennis, darts and some other games and toys together with a number of fairly old sofas and armchairs, so it is a great place for children and adults alike to let off steam on wet days. There is also an open fire which warms the hands (of the teacher but not the children!) but is not large enough to heat the whole room.

Bedrooms
There are two bedrooms downstairs, one leading off the other. The first has a double and the second twin beds. Up the stairs (which are steep and narrow) is another bedroom with two single beds. All beds have modern, comfortable mattresses, good quality duvets and pillows and are made up ready for you. The bedrooms have ample hanging and drawer space. There are lots of spare blankets. A cot and high chair can be provided on request. We don’t normally provide bedding for the cot.

In a spectacular and isolated position close under the Black Cuillin ridge this unique old shepherd’s cottage is ideally situated for climbing and walking and for exploring the rest of Skye. The stove burns wood and we leave sacks in the garage. One sack and some kindling is provided. We also leave a few firelighters to start you off.

There is a garage attached to the bothy but it is quite small and is not often used for cars! It makes excellent storage for bicycles.

- "This simple cottage was perfect for two of us for our 1-1/2 week stay which we used as a delightful home base from which to explore Skye. Kitchen came supplied with all necessary pots, pans, and dishes. Small fridge permitted sufficient space for fresh food storage. - "Absolutely amazing location!! Beautiful views out every window! Perfect place to stay for touring the Isle of Skye. While there were a lot of high end (luxury) things in the house, it really isn't meant for 6 adults.Perhaps 4 medium sized people. The rooms were tiny and luggage had to be left in the living room. A single couch isn't enough for 6. The kitchen was pretty small for trying to cook in and the counter stools were too big for sitting in if anybody needed to get anywhere. The sun room would be perfect with more chairs. No broom or dust pan to clean up after our spills. Little things like that. Even so, we really had a good time! Thank you!"

Calath is a self-catering house situated within 20 minutes walk from the village of Carbost on the west coast of Skye. It is a modern house designed by the award winning architects Dualchas, completed in 2003. The house is situated a good distance from any other properties so you can be guaranteed a peaceful holiday untroubled by any neighbours. The house has three large double bedrooms and can sleep up to eight people comfortably. There is a large open plan dining/lounge area where the views to the loch and of the whole of the Cuillin ridge must be seen to be believed. Conveniently positioned mere steps from the small train station, it is situated in one of the Island’s most picturesque spots with uninterrupted views from the bedrooms, dining area and the living areas, overlooking the Southern part of Skye (Sleat) and over to the Isles of Rhum and Eigg.

The cottage has been restored by the current owner with the main outcome being to preserve the cottage and the byre. Once through the porch you are welcomed by the living area which is the full width of the original house and complete with a wood burner at the far end and comfortable leather sofas on either side. You will find a bookcase full of books, games, DVDs and an album describing the renovation process that the owner went through for over two years to get the house up to the luxury standard it is. There is also a top of the range Hi-Fi (Cambridge Audio with Bowers and Wilkins Speakers) with an eclectic Vinyl collection and bluetooth connectivity to allow you to play your own music.

The kitchen and dining areas have a full picture window for you to watch the wildlife, and also where you will see some wonderful night skies. On this floor is a bedroom (originally the byre) with very quirky windows, along with a wet room. Heading up the bespoke staircase you will see some of the artifacts that the owner discovered whist renovating the house. There are two bedrooms, again with lovely southerly views from the master, and a beautiful bathroom with a round bath. Outside, the garden is enclosed, and the smell of Skye air cannot be found anywhere else; it makes you feel alive, and during your stay you will see all four seasons, possibly in the one day.

There are walks form the cottage to the nearby Spar Caves, where you can take a coastal walk to Elgol and to the beach. There are fairy pools at the foot of the Blaven mountain which is a short drive from Glasnakille. Other things to look out for nearby is Dun Grugaig Iron Age Fort which is perched on the top of a cliff. Whether you decide to go for a drive and visit the rest of the Island, or if you want to stay closer to home, you will have an amazing time creating wonderful memories of your trip to Skye and to the Stone Cottage.
