This cosy one bedroomed cottage sits right on the waters edge and is both remote and isolated, our only neighbours being the sea birds, seals and the occasional otter! It really is an ideal retreat, where you can escape the bustle of daily life and relax.
It is ideally placed right at the centre of the Outer Hebrides, so you can explore from Eriskay (with regular connections to Barra) to the south, to Berneray (with regular connections to Harris) to the North.
It was originally built as a shieling to house land workers, and is now a comfortable holiday retreat, with the added advantage of a log burning stove to snuggle up to after a long day out. The bedroom has a 4 poster double bed and is dual aspect. Guests have in the past told me the bathroom has the best shower they have ever used! The well equipped kitchen/living room contains everything you will need to enjoy your stay including SMART TV with chromecast, DVD player, bluetooth sound bar and wifi. The property is accessed via a driveway with parking space situated next to the cottage. There is a 3kW EV charger for our guests' use (additional charges apply).
The cottage is situated right on the shore of Loch Killerivagh, the tide rising on either side of the cottage as it comes in. Guests regularly see buzzards, owls and Golden and white tailed Eagles from the garden which features a rowing boat filled with fresh herbs for guests to pick and enjoy.
There are many walks that are suitable for all ages and abilities that offer a great way to engage with the unique landscape. The nature reserves at Balranald on North Uist and Loch Druidibeg on South Uist are easily reached with rare birds including Corncrakes, Phalaropes, eagles and much more. The dark skies are a haven for stargazers (particularly during the autumn and winter months) and keep an eye out for the Northern Lights too! The area is a paradise for: walkers, cyclists, birdwatchers, photographers, artists, astronomers, and people looking for a break from the hectic pace of daily life. Uist can only be accessed by ferry or plane, making it very remote. The island is an incredibly friendly place, with the majority of drivers waving as they pass - even on the double track roads.
- "A charmer of a cottage with it’s own resident wildlife (Sheep and Short Eared Owls anyone?) A perfect little getaway for a week away in the Outer Hebrides." - "This cottage is pure delight. One of the best holiday accommodations I have ever stayed in. Away from all the stresses of life. The situation is perfect to heal whatever might need healing! My two dogs also loved it … the three of us were horizontally ‘chilled out’. Thank you David and family .. what you are ‘offering’ there is, well, certainly for me … perfect!"

- "This a good wee cottage on South Uist, completely free of hustle and bustle and street lights. All amenities apart from shops were closed due to you know what! The view from the lounge is as good as you'll get, looking over to Barra. South UIst has big skies and big seas and a great viewpoint is a parking space just before you go down to the ferry for Barra on Eriskay. We saw Golden Eagles at that spot. If you like beaches you will be spoiled for choice ( buy or borrow an OS map to find them) or just turn west off the main road. After a day out it was great to return to West Kilbride to relax and eat and drink! The beds are comfy and showers are good with plenty hot water. The cottage is south facing so the sunrise and sunsets are spectacular! Our host Penny was lovely ( by phone ) and the WiFi was excellent Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo"

Pod Beag Na Haun is idyllically situated on tidal Haun Bay with Island views to Ben Scrien and across the Sound to the hills of South Uist.
Unique, cosy and equipped to excellent standards with a separate bedroom and although it is listed as a two person pod there is also a sofa bed in the living room area with extra storage and linen. The interior is spacious and it has a decking area overlooking the sound of Eriskay. It is Eriskay's first luxury pod.
The friendly, peaceful, historic Isle of Eriskay renowned for the 1745 landing of Bonnie Prince Charlie, to reclaim the Scottish throne is marked by a simple cairn above the exceptional white sandy beach now named in his honour
According to legend the Prince scattered convolvulus seeds as a symbolic gesture which appear, as if by magic, amongst the marram grass every July and August.
The village beach at Baile, at low tide, is perfect for raking shelfish, an enjoyable pastime for many Islanders and visitors.
The Island is well-served with its excellent community shop and the Politician Pub serving fresh local seafood daily caught by Island fishermen. The restaurant is now open all year round.
It also has a famous connection. When the SS. Politician ran aground off the small Island of Calvay in 1941, the cargo of whisky was too precious to leave to the fish.
The antics of the Islanders inspired the film Whisky Galore and a bottle or two of ‘Polly Whisky’ is proudly displayed in the bar.
Leave your car at the door and traverse the whole Island easily on foot.
Reach the top of Ben Scrien, an easy climb, and on your way view Eriskay's world-renowned football pitch included in FIFA's top ten.
Enjoy the most spectacular view of all the surrounding Islands from the Cuillins of Skye to Rum, Canna and the Inner Hebrides, and on clear days St.Kilda.
The docile Eriskay Ponies, a rare breed, roam the Island and can even be spotted from your deck.
The owner, artist/photographer lives next door and is happy to provide you with any local information on any aspect of the Gaelic Culture and language spoken by the Islanders, but your privacy is always respected.
The surrounding tidal waters team with wildlife from basking seals, otters, porpoises, sea -eagles and oyster-catchers.
The island is fabulous for all water sports and fishing.
The Eriskay Causeway allows easy access to the neighbouring Islands of South Uist, Benbecula and North Uist with many cafe's, restaurants, museums and fantastic scenery to enjoy.
The car ferry to Barra can be caught at Eriskay's ferry terminal only a few minutes drive from Pod Beag.
Why not enjoy a peaceful and invigorating retreat, and experience the uniqueness of Scottish Island life.
- "Lovely pod, cosy and on a lovely wee island. Five minutes walk from a white beach with aqua marine waters where Bonnie Prince Charlie first stepped ashore in Scotland. Also, place of the HM Politician sinking with hundreds of cases of booze being 'rescued' by locals and which spawned the Whisky Galore book (and film)." - "This was our favourite stop on our Outer Hebrides holiday. A cute pod with a gorgeous waterfront outlook, nestled in the local community of Eriskay. Peace and serenity. Just bliss. We enjoyed wildlife watching and walking on the island. Great communication and help from Morag. Thank you for such a wonderful stay 🙏"
