There are numerous hiking trails on the farm, the most popular being the landmark Mushroom Rock trail situated on St Fort, an easy hike to the top. There are trails to Batwing Falls and the Mount Perazim cave with authentic bushman paintings. This farm is spectacular, perfect for walkers, hikers, mountain bike and trail running enthusiasts.

Our Cottage is one of three units situated on a prime location, walking distance from the square, and right next to the hiking trails. Our cottage offers 1 bedroom with a double bed, fully equipped kitchenette, lounge area with sleeper couch and outdoor seating area. You are welcome to bring your pets along by prior arrangement as the back area of the cottage has its own fenced off little garden where your pets can play freely. Pet fee = R200 for cleaning

The space
The cottage is separated from the main house.
The 2 bedrooms each have a queen size bed with all linen supplied. A fully equipped kitchenette for self catering is situated on the ground floor.
Towels and bathroom disposables as well as tea and coffee are supplied.
A television with DSTV is available on the deck area and the cottage has free internet access via a WiFi connection. There is a large, fully security fenced garden with a "braai " area.

Guest access
Parking for one vehicle is provided in a garage bay attached to the cottage.
Open parking is available for a second vehicle.

Other things to note
Guests are welcome to use the garden. Parking on the lawn is prohibited because of potential damage to the irrigation system. Please familiarise yourself with the kitchen cleaning arrangements and options as set out under

Guests have access to the cottage with it's own private patio area, main driveway with their exclusive use double carport and the front garden area. They are welcome to use washing lines should they do washing.

We live on site in the house and also rent out a studio unit, which has it's own driveway. The cottage guests share our driveway, but have their own dedicated parking area. Guests receive two sets of keys and remotes for the unit.

Our guests will be able to hike and walk around the farm (~60 ha), do not hesitate to ask us for directions for short and long hikes starting from the cottage.

The vibrant Clarens village is 20 min drive from the farm.

A 4WD, especially during the rainy season is advisable to reach the property.

There is no wifi or cabled TV. We ask our guest to be electricity conscious as we are fully off the grid!

Winter Firewood: During the winter season, we provide complimentary firewood sufficient for the indoor fireplace for your first night. Please note this wood is not intended for braai purposes.

Pet Policy: To ensure the comfort of all our guests, Domaine Sérénité maintains a strict no-pets policy.

Electricity Use (Off-Grid Solar): We are proud to run on an eco-friendly, off-grid solar power system. To prevent overloading the system and causing power interruptions, we kindly ask that you do not bring or use high-energy consuming electrical appliances, such as auxiliary heaters, personal coffee makers, etc. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated in helping us manage our sustainable power source.

Drinking Water: Our water comes from a borehole and is drinkable and of good quality – a rare and precious resource. We encourage you to refill your reusable water bottles from any tap. Every new disposable bottle purchased contributes unnecessarily to waste.

Hiking Trails: We have developed many trails right here on the property, leading to caves and waterfalls. Options range from easy to medium difficulty, short strolls to longer hikes. You can find a map and details here.

Natural Swimming Pool: Enjoy our 15m x 6m pool (1.2 – 1.8m deep) fed by a natural spring (children must be supervised). Don't be surprised if you meet the odd tadpole sharing the water!

Children sleeping with their parents may stay for free. All rooms have ample cupboard space for extended stays. The spacious open plan living area has a wood burning oven and all bedrooms have heaters, making this home ideal for that winter get-away. Firewood (not included) can be arranged prior to arrival.
