We live next to the Glendower Golf Course which, apart from being one of the top golf courses in South Africa, is a nature reserve.

The cottage patio overlooks the 2nd tee box, and to the right is a dam that is home to a grey heron and a variety of water birds. If you are lucky you may see a brown-hooded kingfisher who occasionally pops into the garden for a visit.

We have recently seen a grey hornbill, and the noisy flock of green parakeets who roost in trees nearby are a sight (and sound) to behold.

Enjoy the tranquil evening sounds of the crickets, the odd alarm call of guinea fowl and, in the rainy season, the croaking of frogs.
