- "The hotel was very comfortable, well maintained and perfect for what I wanted. It is opposite the "DOM" amusement park which was in operation when I was there. It did not disturb me at all and I guess if you like that type of thing this is a very good location to be at. The hotel provides a great breakfast but at a price - 26euro. It does not serve evening meals so you need to buy in or go out. You are well served if you choose to go out locally but Hamburg has a lot of cool places to go in the city centre. Access to the city centre is a 30 minute stroll of 6 minutes on the UBhan. I can recommend the DB app if you want easy access to tickets and directions etc. I would stay here again."

On normal nights the street is loud and full of people because its right next to a popular train station and St Pauli is a popular destination with the local populace at night. The neighborhood does look rather grimy with spray paint but is perfectly safe for anyone with common sense. The downtown area is 5 stops away and most of hamburg is within easy reach of mass transit. Also the hotel is taller then most buildings which makes it easy to find when your walking around. I only knocked off a star on property condition and facilities because the pillows were terrible and hurt my neck, the electric powered shades in the bathroom didnt work in my moms room and her mirror fell off the wall, niether of these problems are due to shoddy maintenance and problems like these are prone to happen, and when these problems were brought up to staff, the mirror was fixed promptly, and for the shades the hotel knows about the problem and management is working on a solution. Excellent hotel if you want to sight see, i will definitely stay here again. I did not eat at the hotel resteraunt or bar."

Coming from the US, one of the concierge, Mr Fingers, prearranged obtaining info on a Christmas Oratorio at the nearby St Michael’s Church for us. We had many questions for him about transportation, nearby restaurants, taxi service to the docks and airport, etc. He eased our minds with responsive and timely answers before we ever left. This was our first trip to Europe and being seniors were concerned about many things. When we arrived at The Madison, the entire staff was helpful. The studio room was perfect for our needs. On Christmas Eve Day our cruise ship returned to Hamburg at 7:00 am. We returned to The Madison at 9:00am to store our bags until the 3:00pm checkin. They gave us our room immediately upon arriving which was so much appreciated. After attending a concert later in the day, we returned to our room to find a lovely Christmas basket of fruit and candies. We found the restaurant downstairs (Marley’s) very good. And across the street is The Amber Cafe which was great for soups, sandwiches and pastries. This hotel is highly recommended for cost and service."

Our room was ready and we could have the room at 11:00am. The proximity to and from the airport was very close, which was very convenient for us because we had to get up early the next morning at 3:00am to catch our flight back home. The hotel was situated just a few minutes walk to the airport terminals and also to S Bahn. We took the subway to the city center and could find many choices of dining. We did the self check in so we didn’t really encounter face to face with hotel staffs, but the room was clean and we were happy with the amenities. We didn’t try their breakfast because we had to fly out very early in the morning. When we came back from the city center, we saw many guests in the dining area so the restaurant must be popular. Couldn’t think of any complaints with Radisson Blu and we will stay there again if we have the opportunity to come to Hamburg!"

The space
The double bed Maxi is also suitable for single use. The price does not change for children up to and including 9 years old, otherwise the prices will be adjusted by occupancy. Again, we deliberately waive "Stehrümchen" á la Grandma and value what must be there to sleep well! Cozy beds, Smart TV, high-speed Wi-Fi, bathroom with relaxing shower, towels, hair dryer and our homemade daily soap for showering and washing are of course also included in the Maxi beds. The Doppelbude Mini is our smallest room and not only impresses with its appearance, but also by the fact that bells and whistles like grandma's are small here.
