There are great food options in the vicinity. There’s a noodle shop next door that nearly always had a line forming (outside, of course, and in the freezing cold… I was there December). And a charcoal grill place a couple houses down that is excellent. The hotel is close enough to the Kyoto Station to have easy access to anywhere (SUICA is soooo useful…). All said, though, I would stay there just for the amazing staff. There’s a good mix of foreign and native travelers that stay there. "
