Would definitely recommend" - "My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and really enjoyed our time here! It has a “homey” feel to it, and the service is great. The hosts provide breakfast items every day, along with delicious organic coffee. Housekeeping is prompt and efficient. The hosts even let us borrow items like umbrellas. - "Delightful place to stay for a visit to Acadia national Park." - "Wonderful stay. Loved the adjoining market with blueberry muffins at breakfast and lobster lunch." - "Our room was large, very comfortable and quiet. There is no restaurant nearby but you can buy simple but good food in the market until 6 or 7 PM. The continental breakfast was decent. Compared to accommodations elsewhere, the Otter Creek Inn is expensive but by Acadia standards, it is reasonable. We would be happy to return."

- "Great location and small, but perfect, for what we needed!" - "Place was super clean and comfy. Highly recommend!" - "Location, location, location! Not only did this cute cabin meet all our needs and wants, it is perfectly nestled against the park. Walk into Acadia or take a short drive to all your ANP and island destinations. Thanks, Rob and Marge. We truly enjoyed our stay." - "When planning a trip to Acadia with my kids, I didn’t really know where to stay. I was fortunate to stumble upon this little cabin in Southwest Harbor. If you’re looking for frills, this isn’t your place, but with a location as perfect as this cabin, you don’t need them. The inside is cozy and met our needs well. The outdoor area is beautiful and has a grill, picnic table and plenty of yard space for the kids to play. The property backs right up to the park, so you can venture out on a nature walk right from the cabin. The location is great! It’s very quiet and peaceful and set back from town, so there’s no neighboring noise. Southwest Harbor is a quaint little town, which had a pace I preferred much more than that of Bar Harbor. All the hikes we went on were 30 minutes or less of a drive. The furthest we went was to Schoodic Point and that was about an 80 minute drive. There is a beautiful lake in Southwest Harbor that offers slightly warmer swimming water than the ocean offers. This was a wonderful place to hang our hats after long days in the park and definitely a place I’d recommend to others."

Ideally situated in the center of Mount Desert Island, Echo Pines Cottage is the perfect "home away from home" for vacation activities. It's only minutes from popular "quiet side" trails, including stunning Acadia and Beech Mountains. The entrance to Acadia's pristine, swimmable Echo Lake is only 3 miles away. You'll enjoy a view of the northern section of Echo Lake from the cottage's front windows.
The house sits on 1.5 wooded acres, on a private road. The home is surrounded by tall pines and birch trees. Watch for deer that regularly pass through the yard, and listen for the call of the loons from the lake.
Enjoy eating around the wood- topped kitchen island, or sit by the bay windows looking toward the water.
The cottage is private, but close to all the activities the island has to offer. "Downtown" Bar Harbor is about 15 minutes away, and quaint Southwest Harbor is less than 10.
The house has been outfitted for your comfort, including premium mattresses and many kitchen conveniences and amenities. You'll love the whimsical, "Maine" character of the place. And we take pride in having a spotless cottage!
There are two bedrooms, both with queen-size beds, plus a queen-size pull-out couch with memory foam mattress in the living area and a full size futon couch / bed in the back reading room. The reading room can be closed off for privacy. There are two full bathrooms, both with showers and tubs, one upstairs and one down.
The kitchen is fully appointed, ready for family meals and gatherings! You'll find many basic kitchen staples, like standard spices, cooking oil, and storage wraps provided for you. We also stock condiments in the fridge.
In the basement there's a washer and dryer for your use. Laundry detergent is provided. There's also a ping pong table, ready for those family tournaments.
We, the owners, are local, living on the west side of Bar Harbor, so we're intimately familiar with the area and are ready if you have any issues or questions.
We make every effort to go above and beyond for visitors to MDI. We love the island and truly enjoy sharing it with those who come to experience this fabulous national park. Our goal is that you leave loving Acadia National Park and MDI as much as we do.
Welcome!
- "Wonderful and well appointed home, with everything you need for a great week on MDI and Acadia!" - "Echo Pines cottage was in the perfect location for our multi-generational family vacation in Acadia. It was clean, well-maintained and had everything we needed for our stay. Walking to Acadia’s trails without having to get in the car was fantastic for our first day. Mattresses were comfy and the cabin was adequately stocked with supplies, cookware, and linens. Our only suggestions for future guests would be some glass ware for drinks and board games to play on rainy days or evenings. This townhouse was very spacious and not far from Bar Harbor." - "The property was exactly as advertised. Plenty of room for our family, great proximity to Acadia National Park, updated and extremely clean!" - "This a is great property for families. It is very clean. It is about a 25 minute drive from the main entrance to Acadia and Bar Harbor. The walls are thin. The Stanley home is a comfortable 2 bedroom family home nestled at the top of the hill at the end of a dead end road. The property includes a large back deck with patio set and grill for barbeque on summer nights. With an attached fenced in play yard for your pet and a large unfenced area out back for children to play, this is the perfect property for a family getaway.
You can choose to enjoy the quiet, nature filled back yard by the orchard or simply walk out the front door for ocean views. Just down the hill is a popular spot for photographers to capture the sunrise over the harbor. This home is a short 1/2 mile walk to restaurants and shopping in Southwest Harbor and provides easy access to hiking trails and Acadia National Park. In the summer and fall this rental is walking distance to weekly farmers markets and art vendors.
A few notes about the set up of the house:
1. Both bedrooms are on the second floor. The bathroom is on the first floor.
2. There is a bar style table in the kitchen that seats four people elbow to elbow. There is a more traditional dining set up on the back deck.
- "Stayed late July with my wife, two older teen children, and German shepherd dog. Beautiful and quiet location, yet close enough to all the attractions of Acadia. House was clean especially considering it is dog friendly. Enjoyed dining Al-fresco on the front porch and back deck. Saw many deer-including a Buck, out munching on apples in the orchard. Great stargazing at night too. Would definitely recommend!" - "The home was cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Ashley responded to any questions we had in a timely manner."

Ledgewood Cottage is nestled on three private acres on the quiet side of Mt. Desert Island. Situated on an island at the northern end of Long Pond, the largest lake on Mt. Desert Island, the home is secluded but within easy reach of all the area has to offer. The beach at Long Pond, with its dock and canoe and kayak rental, is just up the road, and the towns of Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor are all an easy drive away. The nearby mountains are interlaced with National Park hiking trails. After a day of exploring the carriage roads and trails, lakes and villages of Mt. Desert Island, come back along the winding woodland road to the peace and comfort of Ledgewood Cottage.
The house is a four bedroom year-round vacation home, and features spacious living rooms on two floors, as well as two distinct master bedrooms. The two upper levels are air conditioned, and the partially below grade lower level remains comfortable year-round.
Entering from the comfortably furnished deck, you will enter a cathedral ceilinged great room. At the near end are a dining area and well equipped skylit chef's kitchen with two-oven Jenn Air range. Complimentary spices and condiments are provided. Beyond the kitchen, the larger section of the great room holds a living room, with two long couches, extra chairs, large flat screen TV and speakers. Area maps and guidebooks are provided here to help guests plan each day's adventures.
Next to the great room is the large dining porch with seating for eight, the perfect gathering spot at the start and end of the day. Three walls of windows fill the room with sunlight, and a bar holds glasses and barware, as well as puzzles and board games. On the other side of the great room, a hallway leads to two pine paneled bedrooms. The main floor master bedroom has a king bed and en suite bathroom with both a walk-in shower and deep jetted soaking tub. Across the hall, a second bedroom holds two twin beds. A laundry and another full bathroom with large walk-in shower complete the main floor.
Ledgewood Cottage's upper level holds the second master bedroom, a spacious relaxing sleep loft with king bed, two skylights, and view across the great room to treetops and sky. The lower level of the house holds the fourth bedroom, with four-poster queen bed and private outside entrance.
Newly added this year on our lower level is a large second living room, with couches, tv, and table with board games and jigsaw puzzles.
Our four bedrooms are distributed on three levels, providing guests with privacy. Our twin bedroom and pack and play are ideal for two or three younger children, and the other three bedrooms are suitable for adults and older children (the master sleep loft is just for adults).
At Ledgewood Cottage, every effort has been made to provide visitors with a rewarding and memorable vacation. Our goal is to ensure that guests have everything they need, and will feel they have truly found a welcoming home away from home.
Ledgewood Cottage is a no smoking, no pets vacation home. Due to our family's severe allergies, we cannot allow dogs under any circumstances. We ask that guests not request special permission for their own four-legged family member, regardless of size, breed, or good behavior.

Very clean and comfortable. Lots of outside space for our pup. Dawn and Wes are they if you need them but give you privacy too." - "The property was ideal for myself and my husband and was very well equipped. We really enjoyed the private seating area overlooking the main gardens. We were glad that we were staying on the “quiet side” as we were visiting during peak summer season but it was an easy and quick drive to the main national park, Bar Harbor and the rest of the island. The unit is also an easy short walk to the shops, cafes & restaurants in Southwest Harbor and a 5min drive to the local supermarket & coin-op laundromat. - "We were excited about this trip as we have never been to Maine. We were looking for something on the quiet side of Acadia so Southwest Harbor became the area we focused on. There were tons of listings and they all looked great but there was something about Grammys. Let’s just say location, location, location. The actual property was nicer than the photos, very well equipped and communication with property management was excellent! We enjoyed coffee on the deck while we overlooked the marina as lobster boats began their day. Hiking and sightseeing during the day was awesome but also tiring. Returning to Grammys, we enjoyed evening cocktails on the deck as we watched returning lobster boats off load their catches of the day. We chatted with several captains and crew about their day and even got their insights on best places for lobster! Grammys was as much a part of our adventure as was Acadia or Swans Island. The atmosphere, sights and sounds of the marina enhanced our trip incredibly. As they advertise, this is indeed a working marina so there is some noise and commotion but we thought that was a plus! We did cook in one night and the blackstone was awesome (had to take a break from all the lobster and butter :)) Sunsets were always a welcomed addition as we enjoyed the salty air and cocktails on the deck. The only possible draw back might be the two flights of stairs but we can assure you, it is worth it! Archie’s and Rodick’s are Captains choices!!! The best!! "

- "The Snuggery was perfect for the two of us! We wanted to spend most our time exploring Acadia, and while this side of the island did require a 15-20 min drive to the main parts of the park, there were also some excellent hikes that were much closer and just as beautiful. We were less than 5 min. from a grocery and mini-golf, 10 min. from kayaking, and at the end of a long day of activity, we were able to clean up and walk less than 100 yards to a number of excellent restaurants. We loved being on the 'quiet side' of the island, away from the bustle of Bar Harbor. Bar Harbor was nice to visit and shop around for a bit, but we preferred the vibe of Southwest Harbor. The apartment itself was clean and well-stocked with everything we needed. (and there were fresh flowers and muffins to welcome us!) If there weren't so many restaurants to try out, we could have easily cooked our meals here. Despite being so close to the main road, it was very quiet. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend the Snuggery to anyone that wanted to enjoy Acadia on the "quiet side"."

- "Loved our stay. Cabin was very secluded and quiet. View was fantastic. Watched the lobster men collect their traps, saw a harbor seal and harbor porpoise from our front porch. Cabin was well stocked and a wood In fireplace ready to be lit. Very close to Acadia and everything we wanted to see. Loved eating dinner on the porch and was able to purchase lobster from our host. Great time!!" - "Our family of four had a fantastic week at this lovely cabin. The location and views cannot be beat. The owners obviously put a great deal of care and consideration into all of the little details that make for a wonderful stay. The fireplace was ready to go, the bedding was soft and comfortable, the towels were abundant and more luxurious than at the Four Seasons! We enjoyed cooking in the kitchen and on the grill. The deck was huge and our sons loved spending time on the dock. Wifi and TV worked great. We would love to return to this property, it was a beautiful, fantastic vacation. Acadia National Park has become one of our very favorite places in the world, and this is a perfect "home base" for experiencing everything it has to offer."

Located hillside in Southwest Harbor with breathtaking water and mountain views, my home-away-from-home is a three-level, contemporary town home in a 5-star resort, just a five-minute drive to Acadia National Park's many attractions and a short walk to shops and restaurants. It is a sun-drenched and cheery end unit with windows on three sides and fabulous views of Somes Sound to the north, the mountains of Acadia to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean and islands to the east. (Early birds can watch the sunrise each day from one of the decks!)
Main Level of My Town Home: The main level includes a living/dining room area with a queen sofa bed, two side lounge chairs, flat screen HDTV, dining table for six, telephone, and deck; a fully equipped kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, lobster pot (!), and all tableware/utensils; and a half bath/laundry room with washer/dryer. Linens and towels are provided.
Upper Level of My Town Home: The upper level is a spacious, master bedroom suite with a king bed, chaise lounge for reading or just kicking back, flat screen TV, telephone, skylight, ceiling fan, and deck. The full bath on this level has a whirlpool tub with shower and a skylight.
Lower Level of My Town Home: The lower level has two double beds, full bath with tub and shower, patio, and backyard barbecue grill and picnic table.
Harbor Ridge Resort: Harbor Ridge Resort is small and exclusive, with only five, eight-unit buildings, 40 townhomes in all. Of course, I think mine is in the best location, i.e nothing between me and the views! The clubhouse area has an indoor heated pool, hot tub, tennis court, fitness center, playground, game room, video rentals, great room with a grand stone fireplace for rainy day activities, and staff on duty to assist with your every need.
Acadia and Harbor Ridge have it all!
- "The unit was just what we needed. We didn’t have any large cooking pots other than the lobster steam pot, but the office helped us out with that as well as letting us borrow a griddle. The outdoor charcoal grills were ready accessible and we were able to have some good home cooked meals. We ordered a homemade blueberry pie at the office from a local baker and it was delicious. We will definitely stay here again when we visit this area." - "My son, his wife, and my two grandchildren ages 5 and 12 stayed there for a week. They reported a great time. The kids used the playground, pool, and clubhouse. The family was able to walk to Southwest Harbor on a path. The townhouse was clean and comfortable. The views from the balconies were great. They were very happy with the townhouse and resort."
