- "Amazing Great location Beautiful setting Charming Didn’t want to leave!!" - "This spot was perfect for my wife and two kids while we visited Bar Harbor. Except for some very minor road noise, the spot was very quiet. Lots of deer graze in this area, which testifies to the serene atmosphere. Greg stopped by when we were outside to make sure things were going well. He was very kind and receptive to our little bit of feedback. We took advantage of the nice fire pit and roasted marshmallows around the fire. Overall the property is well equipped for a small family getaway and convenient to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park (less than 20 minutes to either). We would definitely stay here again!"

#1 Cottage located in the woods on the Quiet side of M.D.I walking distant to town and the Great Harbor Marina with more than a dozen restaurants in the area as well as the free shuttle bus system (June 23 to Columbus Weekend) to almost anywhere on M.D.I. and Acadia National Park. Minutes to Acadia National Park, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, mountain climbing, bird watching, whale watching, and much much more.
One bedroom with a Queen bed, sleeping loft with 2 twin beds, cathedral ceiling, living and dining area . Heat pump to provide heat on chilly nights and air conditioning for those warmer days and an electric fireplace. Oak flooring throughout. Fully furnished with most items you will need and on request will try to supply any items you may want. A full wood deck with patio furniture and barbecue grill. A fire pit and 4 chairs in the garden and a seasonal stream area in front of the cottage. - "Cottage was very clean! I love to cook and the kitchen was well equipped (perhaps add a larger skillet). Bed might be a little high off the ground for physically challenged guests, but mattress was comfy. We were able to hike right from the house by using the trail at the end of the street which led us to the Shore Path and Gorham Mountain areas. I would stay here again!" - "Summerwood Cottage was the perfect place for my husband and myself. It was very clean, had all the amenities we needed, and was the perfect size (cozy yet plenty of space). We loved being able to walk to Otter Cove, and being just a short drive to everything else. My only recommendation for future guests is to pack an eye mask. The skylight in the bedroom was great for allowing in fresh air, but the sun rises early in Maine and made for some early mornings :-)"

I highly recommend wellness center, particularly massage with Alexandra. There is one note to be aware regarding Wi-Fi: we rented two yurts, we had reliable signal at Flying Mountain and less reliable signal at Sargeant Mountain. Our hosts were the best and literally were available for anything we needed, even when we requested last minute flashlights so we could hike Cadillac Mountain in the dark to arrive a sunrise (another bucket list item and must do). The location was ideal for both enjoying Acadia and all it has to offer as well as proximity to all 3 harbors. Every recommendation they had for food and activities was spot on. The "Knollette" is a fully equipped cottage with a large grassy field tucked away in the woods on a quiet, private lane. Walk 5 minutes and you will discover the causeway at Norwood Cove - a spot that offers wonderful vistas of the ocean & mountains; dramatic tidal activity; opportunities for swimming, SUPing, canoeing, kayaking; peaceful sitting spots; and spectacular night skies. Walk 5 minutes in the other direction to the center of Southwest Harbor, a small quaint town where you will find shopping, dining, art, crafts, a bike rental store, and a wonderful public library. You'll also find access to the Island Explorer, the free shuttle to all parts of MDI and Acadia National Park.

Acadia National Park is a playground for walking, hiking, biking, swimming, boating, and picnicking. Explore scenic ocean trails, carriage roads, beaches, mountains, lakes, and nearby islands. There are also opportunities to rent boats of various sizes; play tennis, pickleball, or golf; antique hunt; visit museums and art galleries; eat ample fresh seafood; and more.

- "The Knollette is a fantastic place for staying near Acadia if you want to escape the crowds near Bar Harbor. The house is quaint, in a quiet location, and is plenty of space for four to spread out and relax. The true highlight is the property itself with the expansive back yard, surrounded by trees, complete with table, chairs, and a fire pit! We had many late nights enjoying a fire and the crisp, quiet, night air. It is also steps (or a bike ride) from the Causeway, and the Valley Cove and Summit Trails which offer beautiful views and challenging terrain for hikers, as well as Echo Lake if you want to go for a swim. Southwest Harbor is also a great little town. You have everything you need from a grocery store, cafes, shops, and some great places to eat lunch and dinner. All in all a cozy, quiet, and comfortable place to relax after a day of hiking and sight seeing in Acadia."

With more than a dozen restaurants in the area; as well, as the free Island Explorer Shuttle (June 23 to Columbus Weekend) to almost anywhere on MDI and Acadia National Park. Minutes to Acadia National Park, hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, mountain climbing, bird watching, whale watching, and much much more.
The floor plan ~ basement bedroom with twin beds which can be made int a king bed. sleeping loft with a queen bed, cathedral ceiling, dining area, living room with asleep sofa for extra sleeping. There is a heat pump in the living room and also the basement bedroom for either heat or air conditioning. Bamboo & cork flooring through out. Fully furnished with most items you will need. A full wood deck with patio furniture and barbecue grill. A fire pit and 4 chairs, in the garden and a seasonal stream area, in front of the cottage. This cottage sleeps 4 but we can accommodate, up to 14 people ( with our three cottages) for family or friends.

Our cottage has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and is conveniently located just a short walk to Southwest Harbor shops and restaurants and to the Harbor. We are on the Island Explorer route and a few minutes' drive to several Acadia National Park attractions.

Close to everything on MDI and you feel like you are a guest in someone's home. We have stayed in many cottages and cabins in our 50+ years of travel and this is one of the best.
