She shared a wealth of information about the history of the property and the Menomonie area in general. My accommodations (the gold room) were outstanding. I felt as though I had been transported back to the 1890s but with modern amenities and comfort. The next morning, Stephanie prepared a delicious breakfast for me, and we had another chat about history. She was very respectful of my time and didn't want to burden me with too many details. I assured her that I appreciated all this information and welcomed more. Stephanie explained all the restoration that she had done to the property. Her attention to detail is impressive. The location is admittedly remote, which is part of the point of booking a cabin or campsite in this area. There are a couple of restaurants, a grocery store, etc in Thorp, about 15 miles north. However we cooked most of our meals on the grills provided. The man-made lake/pond next to the cabin is small, but still fun (for a small raft for the kids or catch and release fishing off the pier). The resort is located between two lakes (Mead Lake, 5 miles away, and Rock Damn Lake, 10 miles) that have larger beaches and fishing areas. We went to both, and I would recommend Rock Damn."

Our stay was during the week, so the lake was quiet and peaceful. It was getting quite busy by the time we left on Saturday (4th of July weekend), but this gave us a chance to meet the neighbors, and everyone was most pleasant. After reading some of the other reviews I will add our thoughts: 1) the MINIMAL cleaning that is requested is simply picking up after yourself...something we all should do anyway. 2) the cleaning fee...please consider this cost may be to help cover the cost of all the "little items" that are provided...toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, propane, etc. Ernie was most responsive any time we needed to reach out and the cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed. When they say all that is needed is your food and clothing they are not kidding. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about our entire experience and are already thinking of a winter get-a-way at the cabin!"

- "This is such a beautiful property. The accommodations are like new. The access to the lake is a very well maintained 55 steps away. There are rafts and kayaks to use along with a floating dock to relax on. Checking in was a dream. There is a code on the door that is sent to you the day you check in. There is a tv in the living room with complimentary Appletv and board games to enjoy. There is also a little patio with a fire pit where we roasted marshmallows with provided roasting sticks hanging on a nearby tree. In walking distance, there is a local, friendly bar and a few steps further a beautiful supper club with excellent food. You are also just a few driving minutes away from great breweries, restaurants, ice cream parlors and shopping. We didn't see our host or hostess which was absolutely ok because if you need anything just shoot them a message and they get right back to you. We will definitely keep this in mind for future getaways. Already talking about bring our adult children back with us some day. This place sleeps 8 very comfortably. - "Sherry was a great hostess and the Lone Birch cabin was very peaceful and quiet, which was welcome after a day at a loud music festival. The cabin was cozy and it was fun to go out on the lake with the tandem kayak. We must not of read the description closely and came with food to prepare several meals. We were able to pivot and use the fire pit or microwave for cooking instead. It was wonderful to wake up to a chorus of birds or sit next to the fire in the evening and watch the sun set in the distance. Highly recommended!"

- "The listing is 100% accurate and everything was exactly as expected. Clean, comfortable, relaxing and having the kayaks was a great perk! The ONLY thing (if I had to find something) that wasn’t perfect was the TV in the bedroom wouldn’t work, but with sunshine & so much else to do it didn’t really matter. They even had ice and 4 frosty mugs in the freezer!! I never had a need to reach out to the property manager. I look forward to coming again in the future."

- "The windy tree-lined road leading out to the cabin got us so excited! You'll want to make sure you have front wheel drive, the quarter mile path to the cabin has a couple steep turns! We pulled up on a quaint little cabin with a beautiful patio looking out to the pond. We enjoyed quiet nights under the stars around the fire. The S'Mores kit was so cute and definitely got used! Plenty of firewood. They had several camping chairs and a grill for us to use. The place was clean and cozy. Plenty of pillows and blankets. The bed we slept in was a little firm but we still slept well. A fan for each room was nice. There were clean towels and washcloths and essential soap/shampoo/conditioner. No condiments (salt & pep) but all the pots, pans, ice tray dishware, and cutlery you should need. Coffee pot/keurig and coffee was much appreciated. They even had koozies which always come in handy! There weren't any cards, dice, or games which would've been a nice touch. The owners took the initiative to install an AC unit as we were seeing high 90's during our stay that was so kind and much appreciated to have an escape from the heat. The owners were kind, helpful and easy to communicate with but also left us to our privacy and seclusion. The hiking trails were nicely mowed and mapped out. We had a lovely time and would 100% stay here again. This is probably our favorite Air B&B/VRBO experience we've ever had due to its unique quaint setting."

This is a camper cabin and you will have a designated fire pit and picnic table. We will have a barrel cooler of water ready to go for you, and wood available for purchase. You can also bring a camp stove or small grill for outside, and you may plug in a hot plate or electric griddle to cook as well.

You will have access to camp's canoes, kayaks and paddleboards. Make sure to bring a life jacket, as we have many children's jackets to choose but have a smaller selection of adult sizes.

You may drive across the lawn to unpack your vehicle and then park your car on the large lot off the side of the main road. There is a boat landing just down the street on Deer Island and we have room for you to part your trailer on site. Our dock is designated for day use only and only has room for one boat; it is not recommended to beach overnight or in high winds as the waves can build and pummel the shore.

The Nordic Nest was built on an adjacent lot next to the owner's property. The house is located in the country on a dead-end road. The house is tucked away with views of the surrounding woods. This is not a remote space as we do have a few neighbors on our road, it is a quiet quaint neighborhood.
Other things to note
The Nordic Nest was built by our daughter Stefani along with her Dad as featured on the YouTube channel HomewithStefani. Many DIY projects from Stefani are featured in this Nordic-inspired home. Check out her channel and be inspired by her hundreds of DIY projects. Rustic cabin in WI Driftless region. Unique rustic cordwood oasis. A perfect getaway for a writer, artist, musician, or peace and quiet.

You'll have 2 small cordwood cabins all to yourself. One is a writer's retreat with a queen futon bed, large desk, and ergonomic Aeron chair. The other is a cold shower/kitchen. There's a portable toilet. It's comfortable enough to be productive– rustic to create a unique, camp-like experience. The kitchen has a small fridge, a hot plate & toaster oven.

The space
Take relaxing hikes through the peaceful forest, or walk across the road and visit our thriving organic herb farm. Situated in the gorgeous rolling hills of Buffalo County Wisconsin, it’s easy to get here from The Twin Cities, Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison, Rochester, and more.

The cabins are part of Crazy Rooster Farm and Amish Telephone Booth and Sacred Blossom Farm. A 60-acre Permaculture-inspired farm with grazing cattle and medicinal herb production.

Guest access
You'll have exclusive use of the two little cordwood buildings and the acre lot. You're also welcome to roam around the farm. Ask for directions and instructions on where cattle are grazing and which gates you can access.

Other things to note
Experience the beauty and simplicity of Amish life! Stop by the quaint roadside organic produce stands, or take a dip in the Buffalo River. Nearby pizza farms and other fun places to go for quick excursions.

There is electricity in both cabins and a small electric heater to take the chill off in spring and fall. Note that this is a rustic cabin so we do get Asian beetles in the spring, boxelder bugs, and flies. They are harmless, but we must warn you they might inspire a poem or a song. The small kitchen is equipped for one or two people to prepare simple dishes. The shower isn't heated, so it's an invigorating experience.

If you like nice hotels, this may not be for you. If you're okay with sleeping in your car... this is The Ritz.

If you get bored and want something to do, we may be able to find some wood for you to stack, a garden to weed, or a barn to muck out.

Cozy and comfortable quite home close to downtown Eau Claire and all that the downtown area has to offer. Restaurants and nightlife, along with the Pablo Center, Phoenix Park, and the Eau Claire Children's Theater are all about 0.5 miles. UW-Eau Claire is 1.6 miles away. Property is also only few blocks from Mayo Clinic and Hospital. The Country Jam, Eau Claires Festival, and Blue Ox Festival grounds are a short 3 mile Uber or Lyft ride away.

Our home offers privacy of entire 1st floor for guests. I live on the second floor.
A cool comfortable two story home, close to stores,and downtown. On 1.5 acres of wooded land in a quiet neighborhood, 1.5 mi. off I 94. Biking distance to anything in EC. Wildlife viewing is free!

The space
Cabin experience in the middle of town. Tennis courts nearby, 2 mi. from UW-Eau Claire, and Chippewa River Bike Trail. 20 minutes to Tower Ridge X-Country Ski trails. 10 minutes from Lowes Creek County Park, with great classic ski trails and some of the best mountain biking trails in the midwest! Perfect for running too.

(separate entrances for each floor) There is a piano in the room if you care to play--we love to hear it get some love! Plus your own patio right in front of your room.

If you are bringing a dog, who likes to sleep on the bed, please bring a blanket for your pet to protect the bedding. (Or ask me for something) :)

Guests will enjoy the City Central location of this nicely updated home a short walk/drive to many great destinations. Just 2-3 blocks to the Chippewa River, Half Moon Lake and Beach. If you are here as a patient or visitor to Luther Hospital/Mayo Health, the location could not be better. There are many Pubs and Eateries a short distance from the house. The fenced yard and deck railing give an added sense of privacy and security. If you identify as "Tourist" or "Transient" beware the CITY!

The space
Nicely updated (not new, not perfect) vintage home with approximately 1200 square feet of space to relax and enjoy, features 2 bedrooms and 3 comfortable beds. 2 queen beds, one in each of the bedrooms and a full size bed set up in the sitting room that has an open doorway to the living room and another to the kitchen. There is a brand new (2023) full size couch with dual recliners and flip down center console and dual recliner love seat with center console and brand new (2023) American Standard 3-ton Central AC unit and brand new (2023) 30x60 walk-in shower. Bedroom #2 has a Queen bed and a baby crib. The large eat-in kitchen has a new south facing window, new plank flooring, fresh paint, new hardware, plenty of space for prepping meals, refrigerator, microwave, Keurig (with K-cups), drip coffee pot, toaster, toaster oven, dishes, pots, pans, blender, mixer with bowls, utensils, herbal teas, snacks, quick foods, condiments, Farmhouse table with 8 chairs, etc.. There is also a fully functioning laundry room, a new (2023) 65" SONY Smart TV with Goo-gle TV in the Livingroom and a 32" TV with ROKU in bedroom #1. We also provide High Speed Wi-Fi Internet for all your devices. This home, although it has many updates, is old and has what some would perceive as flaws. It is not perfect and some floor areas especially show signs of wear and tear and some trim is yet to be installed. You may see a spider or a cobweb from time to time. We do our best to keep the space clean, comfortable and fully functional. If you are looking for perfection, this may not be for you. Please look at the pictures and read the reviews. We are not trying to hide flaws or mislead anyone. We fully believe we are providing great value to travelers who arrive in EC for a variety if reasons and most of our guests are quite happy with the space and its many amenities. We will continue to make improvements to the space as time goes on, so you may arrive to find something new or improved that is not yet pictured. P.S. there are a lot of squirrels frequenting the area due to the beautiful Black Walnut tree on the south side of house. There is also a quiet upstairs tenant so please be respectful.

The space includes the entire lower unit, the lower deck, fenced yard and half of the driveway. The key lockbox is on the hinge side of the door jam of the back door on the deck by the driveway which is accessed through the alley between Mappa and Bellinger Streets on the 1400 block.

Your family will be close to everything when you stay at this centrally located historic townhome. The Hudson Carriage Townhouse is within one mile of Downtown Eau Claire's shops, restaurants, and bars. It's also a 10-minute drive to the music festival grounds (Eaux Claires, Blue Ox, Country Jam) and a 5-minute drive to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This newly remodeled apartment is full of character and amenities including a small patio. We have a gas grill upon quest.

The space
This property has a long history, and we were determined to keep that history while updating towards a more modern, welcoming look. The house maintains its original wood siding and windows, as well as its original entry porch.

With updated amenities guests will feel right at home. During the summer guests can enjoy a beautiful patio and short walks to local parks.

The Hudson Carriage Townhouse unit is the back building behind 223 Hudson Street in a separate building. The unit is on the left side as you enter the small front porch. Guests have access to the entire unit plus back patio and the small side yard.

There is 1 off street parking stall in rear of the property, which is accessed through the ally. There is on-street parking on either Hudson Street or 2nd or 3rd Avenue.

The apartment is a two story with both bedrooms and the full bedroom on the second story.
