The Ziehr apartment is the unit located on the left side of the building as you are facing it. It is within one mile of Downtown Eau Claire's shops, restaurants, and bars. It's also a 10 minute drive to the music festival grounds (Eaux Claires, Blue Ox, Country Jam) and a 5 minute drive to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This newly remodeled home is full of character and amenities including a private patio & dedicated concrete pad with grill.
This property has a long history and we were determined to keep that history while updating towards a more modern, welcoming look. Constructed in 1881 during the waning years of logging in Eau Claire, the house features a gable front and wing façade and wood frame, characteristic of Folk Victorian architecture. The house maintains its original wood siding and windows, as well as its original decorative porch.
With updated amenities guests will feel right at home. During the summer guests can enjoy a beautiful patio and short walks to local parks.
- "The house is convenient to downtown and is situated on a mature, quiet residential street with parking always available immediately in front. The interior is comfortable, pleasantly decorated, and the kitchen and bathrooms are very well equipped. In spite of well functioning Wi-Fi and tv systems, this is still a 140 year old house, with its character showing mostly on the exterior. Some minor mechanical problems were reported to the owner who responded immediately and had them quickly repaired. The sole downside to the house was an uncomfortably small shower stall in one of the bathrooms. Net: well recommended as a comfortable and convenient place to stay!"

A unique, peaceful river front home property on the Red Cedar River. This is a walk out lower level Private unit. Lake Tainter merges into the Red Cedar at the dam site, and the Red Cedar river then merges with Lake Menomin. Walk out to your private patio overlooking the beautiful Red Cedar River. Spend time relaxing by the water, watching eagles fly overhead. Features an eagles nest on property. You will be able to find water access for the Red Cedar, Lake Tainter or Lake Menomin near by.
Extra unpaid guests are not allowed, if you want to edit your booking please do for before arrival, it is an additional $25 for each additional guest per night, it is our attempt to make the the pricing for one guest more affordable.
- "Comfortable, tranquil & beautiful setting. Enjoyed sitting on deck at riverside" - "This was a very nice place. The kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed. The bed was very comfortable even though it is on the firm side. Plenty of nice soft towels. Very quiet. Occasionally I could hear walking upstairs, but not in the bedroom. A lovely country setting, but no noisy animals. Big plus: a bathmat to prevent slipping! I usually have to bring my own. Lovely small deck right by the river with comfy chairs and a fire ring. We saw an eagle fishing in the river! The hosts are very helpful, and their driving directions are spot on. Tips - The refrigerator is like a dorm-size frig and is quiet. Bring your own wash cloths for the bathroom. Nice shampoo provided. Minor suggestions: blackout shades would be nice in the summer to encourage sleeping in It would be nice to have a broom available to sweep the chairs and deck down by the river (which had been recently cleaned, but the trees drop stuff constantly)."

Unexpectedly, I didn't have a dogsitter, so I searched VRBO for a dog-friendly place to stay. It's only an hour away from Stout, and the drive from Menomenie to Cornell was absolutely beautiful and the leaves were changing. We liked it so much, our freshman came to stay the night the 2nd night. The check in process couldn't have been easier. We got a text with our contactless code, which was useful as I showed up late at night on a Friday night. The place was comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed (towels, soaps, etc as well as snacks and coffee/tea). The bed in the main bedroom was great. The host made up the pullout for my son :) My dog felt very comfortable in the space, and we had a lovely time reconnecting as a family. Review of Cornell - very cute town, we visited Sam's diner and Hey Everything while we were there. The drive was well worth the stay. 10/10 - would stay again."

I would not recommend it to families or my group of ladies as the park right across the street, the sidewalk, & parking lot across from the apartment building is littered with homeless people & vehicles are parked everywhere with people living in them. Because of this, I would not return or recommend." - "First they sent me to the wrong apartment so that I walked into a place that was obviously not the listing and someone was already staying in! Then when they gave me the correct apartment it had the same code as the one right done the hall?? So I wasn’t comfortable staying unless they could change it, which they could not! And now I’m still waiting for a refund that they keep saying they already submitted, but it’s been 2 weeks so I will dispute it with my credit card company. Also the whole building is surrounded by homeless people. Beware do not book with Travelfurnished! "

This unit has full access to the large wrap around front porch. The city bus stop is directly in front of the property, and it is walking distance to several city parks and bike paths.

The second-floor unit of a duplex built in 1875, this space is very unique with plenty of architectural quirks. Every room boasts at least one window, so it sees amazing natural light and breezes throughout the day. With two bedrooms—including a queen Sleep Number bed—this place is perfect for folks looking for a summer adventure, or for families visiting their Stout student during the school year. High Speed Internet and a desk makes this place ideal for someone looking for a nice change of pace and scenery to work remotely.
Please note, the space is not child-proofed, and is therefor unfortunately not suitable for children.

Guests have access to the entire second-floor apartment, accessible with keyless pin through a dedicated entrance, up a flight of 12 stairs (pictured in listing).
Other things to note
• Owner lives in the lower unit with his partner, Nicole, and cat, Zoe. The place isn't haunted—those sounds are us :) You may hear Zoe from time to time. She gets curious when people are upstairs, so please expect some occasional cat sounds.
• There is a door adjoining the upper and lower unit, with security on both sides to prevent access between units.
• It's an old building, and for that reason, the kitchenette and bathroom ceilings are a bit lower (6' 8") than traditional.
• While there's central HVAC, there's no thermostat in the upper unit. There is however, a standing A/C unit and fan-aided space heater available. The place typically maintains a pretty temperate climate.
• There is a TV with a Chromecast in the bedroom, but we do not have cable in the house. Any TV entertainment needs to be streamed to the Chromecast via your personal device or computer.
• The Red Cedar Speedway is right up the road and can be heard on some Fridays in the Summer between 4:30-9:30(ish)pm. It's not very audible unless the windows are open. Check the race schedule online if the potential noise is a dealbreaker (or to pick up tickets)!
• The space is not child-proofed, and is therefor not suitable for children. Steep stairs readily accessible without a gate or other means of restricting access; cleaning supplies accessible at low heights in unsecured cabinets; choking/entanglement hazards in common areas; many plants, fragile décor elements, and sharp corners throughout all spaces.

- Two off-street spots are reserved for you - facing Doty Street and closest to the utility pole. The two spots nearest the house are reserved for the tenants in the front apartment.
- Please pull in straight towards the back door, then back into your spot. This will save you some jockeying.
- On-street parking is easy to find on weekends or weekdays after 4pm. Handy, but please take extra care climbing the steps.
