The house is direct waterfront on Ashland Lake, a ponded section of the Pachaug River in Griswold, CT. You can fish, swim, kayak, canoe, and more in the extremely picturesque waters right off the grassy backyard of our cottage home. Use our kayak or bring your own if you prefer - you can boat right from our personal dock in the backyard.

Although you will want to spend as much time as possible enjoying the water and the views we have gone the extra mile to make all aspects of our waterfront house feel like home.

Inside you will find a game room that is perfect for all ages and a home theaterroom with a large projector screen. The game room also includes a new bunk bed and a Pac-Man arcade game. The main floor of the lake house includes the living room with a tv and plenty of seating, fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom, a queen sized bedroom, and a king size bedroom which has it's own sitting area, desk, and balcony that overlooks the water. Pets are also welcome with a paid pet fee.

Important: Sheets and towels ARE included with your stay. They are washed before and after every guest, feel free to use the laundry room during your stay as needed as well. We also provide a starter pack of paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, cleaning products, soaps, detergent, sponges, k cups, nespresso pods, and tea!

- "A really amazing place. The pix here don't do it justice. This is a new build so everything is new new new and fresh. It's sparkling clean and very spacious. It's set up to entertain a full family, with lots of beds and three bathrooms. Everything is light and airy, and the floor to upper-ceiling windows make it feel like you're outside. The kitchen is amazing, and has just about every convenience you could ask for in a lake-side house (my mate says it even has a two-level oven). The early morning light in the space is stunning, and I'm guessing it'll be stellar in the summer months. It's close to the Shunock River pizza/brew-pub (where we ate dinner), the local winery (Jonathan Edwards?), and of course it's near the casino, the oceanside at Stonington, Mystic, and Waverly. However, I doubt you'd want to leave in the summer months as the view is wonderful, and the water is right there. Speaking of views, while we were eating breakfast, we were visited by one of the local BALD EAGLES. It flew over the water and landed in the tree right outside the window. I've never been closer to a real eagle. Julia and Cherie are the hosts (warm, nice people!) They answered all our questions, and had a couple suggestions for things we hadn't thought of. We'll be back, for sure."

3. Does the sauna work?
Yes! The sauna is available year round.
4. Is the cabin heated?
Yes! The cabin has both propane and electric heat sources to keep you toasty even on the coldest of New England winter days.
5. Is there a grill?
Yes! The cabin has a propane and a charcoal grill. We do not provide charcoal, so bring your own please.

Vinola has one bedroom with a queen bed. The main room has one single bed, and single cot. The loft has 2 single beds. (The loft is not to be used by small children for safety.) Full kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The bathroom has a toilet and shower. Vinola has a lovely porch on the front and a fire pit and gas and charcoal grills in the back. There are trails in Pachaug and Arcadia management areas that start at the end of the driveway.
The cabin is a not secluded space. From the cabin, you can see our other cabin, a cottage and a few RV's (depends on season and number of guests). Please view ALL the listing photos to get a feel for the layout of the cabin in relation to other buildings.
Guest access
Guests have private access to the entire cabin. A short 400 foot walk from the porch leads to the property's private beach which guests are welcome to use. There is a picnic table and multiple fire pits for campfires. Guests are also welcome to use our 10 person wood fired Finnish sauna. The sauna has a lakeside deck and direct access to the water for a dip. Guests are welcome to use kayaks, canoes, and paddle board.
Other things to note
Many guests find that they have little to no cell reception here on the lake. If using the App, you can access check in directions without cell reception. We have WiFi in the cabin, so you can get connected as soon as you get inside. The login info is on the table.
We have another cabin on the property, up to three camp trailers (occupied only in the summer) as well as two main houses. We have many family members on the property at any given time and all are friendly and happy you are staying with us! Just remember that there are other people living here, so we expect respect for them as far as noise.

The space is newly remodeled and very cozy! Full kitchen with 4 burner stove and oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The kitchen has a table with 4 chairs and a sofa that can one person can sleep on. The bathroom has a shower, small sink and toilet. There is no TV. (you won't miss it, we promise!) Ellis has a lovely porch on the front with views of Beach Pond. This is not a secluded cabin. WELCOME FALL at our DIRECT WATERFRONT large 1100 sq ft queen bed (plus full size convertible sofa) studio guest suite in the walk-out lower level of our home. We are located in the MOST desirable and SAFEST neighborhood, on a cove of the LARGEST recreational pond in the area. Our home offers the rare opportunity to enjoy all the excitement of boating, kayaking, paddle boarding jet skiing, fishing, nature watching, etc. of the pond (or the casinos) and then a quiet escape when you are ready to relax.

Although summer has ended and the pool closed, there is still much to do! Come enjoy the FALL SEASON and the gorgeous FALL FOLIAGE water views out your window or on the pond using the kayaks, canoe, paddle board, or your own boat or jet ski. Watch the winter birds return including several bald eagles.

This is the perfect place to relax, unwind, and recharge. Connect with nature or your inner zen.

We are centrally and conveniently located 45 mins from Providence and 50 mins from Hartford. We are 1 hour 40 mins from Boston and 3 hours from NYC. Historic MYSTIC, CT is only 30 minutes away.

FOXWOODS Resort and CASINO (and the brand new Great Wolf Lodge and Tanger Outlets) are a short 15 minute drive and MOHEGAN SUN just 20 minutes away.

In summer, enjoy a day of adventure and fun out on the water or relax by the pool. Wake up to song birds and sip your morning coffee by the pond or pool, watch bald eagles soar, great blue heron hunt, ducks and geese paddle, and deer graze. Whether you’re seeking solitude, traveling as a couple or family, or just need to recharge, our rental suite offers a serene getaway.

The main pond is a 3 minute paddle or 1 min boat ride from our dock. The 840 acre pond has plenty of open water to zip around and plenty more spaces on sandbars and near the shore to set up for the day or float with a cocktail.

Fish from the yard, sandy beach area, or dock. Kayaks, canoes and paddle boards (borrowed or BYO) can be launched from our yard/dock. We have life jackets for guest use but to ensure that you have the size that fits you or your child, you may wish to check with us or BYO.

Optional dock space rental is available for ONE boat or jet ski which can be launched from the public launch located 5 minutes away. A fire pit is located in the middle of the sandy beach area.

Guests enjoy self-check-in at a separate entrance located in the back of the house. You have the entire apartment to yourselves. The yard, pool, dock, beach, driveway, pond and all the rest of the property are accessible and shared with my family.

The rental suite has a private bathroom with a shower. Towels, wash cloths, and linens are provided.

Rest comfortably in the bedroom area on a queen bed with multiple pillows and extra blankets.

Relax in the living room with a love seat and a full size sleeper sofa. For the little one, there is also a pack and play with mattress and a stroller available. Stream your favorite shows on the Smart TV.

The “kitchenette” type area provides necessities for your stay. Including cabinets, a small counter space, Keurig coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave and mini fridge/freezer for your convenience. While there is no kitchen sink or oven, we have supplied some paper/plastic disposable dish-ware, bottled water, coffee k-cups, tea, and fixings to start out your visit.

Enjoy meals or work remotely at the dining area at the table and four chairs.

Shoot a game of pool or play some family games located in the armoire.

Lounge in the sun around the pool on the 4 lounge chairs, a dining table with 6 chairs, and an additional seating area with a loveseat and 2 chairs around the in-ground pool deck. [Chair cushions will be covered in inclement weather.] The pool can be heated for an additional daily fee.

Shoot hoops in the driveway. If we are around, there is a ball we can lend. But you may also wish to BYO.

Small (under 40 pounds), dog and people friendly, well-behaved, fully house trained, behavior trained dogs are negotiable for additional nightly fees. Our dog Charlie lives here. Due to severe allergies in our family, cats and any animals other than dogs CANNOT be allowed.

Located on Pachaug Pond, our home is a 20-minute drive to Foxwoods and a 30-minute drive to Mohegan Sun Casino and Mystic, CT. Your guest room has a comfy Queen bed and mini fridge. Guests are welcome to use the Great Room with TV and workout equipment. The patio provides a relaxing area to catch some sun or enjoy a bite to eat. There is no kitchen access, but coffee is available upon request. We reside on the other side of the home with our 3 Poodles, who will warmly greet you!

The space
Pachaug Pond is just down the road from our home. Scenic rolling hills and farmland surround us, and Pachaug Forest offers miles of hiking trails nearby. Our home is spacious and comfortable. Guest rooms are on one end and we reside on the other.

Guest access
Guest rooms offer privacy, cleanliness, and comfort—each with a private bathroom for your exclusive use. You have access to a common great room with a large-screen TV, leather recliners, desks, and exercise equipment. Guests may also use the back patio area and enjoy the backyard.

During your stay
You are staying in a private bedroom in our home. We are always nearby and will be happy to answer any questions you might have and provide guidance for our local area.

We will message you with a door code and parking instructions at least 24 hours in advance. You will have access to the home through the lower front door.

The space
Lily Pond lake house is a small cottage directly on the waters edge. It has a full kitchen/ island seating, and comfortable living room. A smart TV and electric fireplace invite you to relax and enjoy.

The first bedroom is whimsical with a comfortable queen size bed.

The second bedroom is small but is able to fit single bunk beds as well as laundry .

The bathroom has a full sized tub and shower.

Up on the hill is the Art Studio, which has a lounge area and hammock.

The property is quiet with just one neighbor. In winter or summer, the lake is beautiful, with sun sets over the water.

The main cottage is available for guests year round.
From mid March to October- the " artist cabin" will also be available. It is not winterized and remains closed during the colder months.

Our farm store is stocked with our own TX Longhorn beef and pasture-raised chicken and eggs, plus curated with local products. Enjoy pastoral farm life and our private forest trails, or get out and play in the area's abundance of fine dining, wineries, seasonal attractions, outdoor activities, and entertainment.

The space
Owl's House is a spacious 2-story home set on 100 acres of a historic homestead dating back to the 1740s. Designed by owner and interior designer Kim Grijalva, the design of the interior is inspired by the art of Andrew Wyeth, and incorporates modern and antique furnishings and decor. With 1,200 SF the home provides a spacious yet cozy place to enjoy, plus outside areas like a private deck and garden, a fire pit area, and trails to explore in over 60 acres of woods. We want our guests to come to the farm and immediately feel at home on their farm away from home. A full kitchen includes cooking oils, spices, coffee, and tea plus quality cooking tools and appliances.

Get a taste of the local flavor at The 100 Acre Wood Farm Store located on the property. It is open on weekends, and by request from guests, we feature our own forage-fed Texas Longhorn beef, pasture-raised chicken, organic eggs, and a gourmet pantry. We support small-business, small-batch, and fellow farmers. All of our products sold are made in America and include items like virgin Merino wool blankets made in one of the oldest mills in the US, soft and stylish scarves, natural soaps, scents, syrups, our own line of spices and seasonings, jams, relish and more.

Early check-in and late weekend checkout can be requested in advance, and if available, we are happy to accommodate.

The living area features a 9' leather couch, a bar area, and a range of board games. The treetop setting of the master bedroom offers beautiful 180° views, sunrises and sunsets, a Casper king bed and pillows, soft 100% cotton sheets, and cozy comforter. A 55" smart TV comes with complimentary Amazon Prime viewing (5 seasons of Yellowstone) and the ability to log in to other streaming apps. The second bedroom features a Casper queen-size bed and pillows, a 40" TV, and a twin daybed. The bathroom is fully updated with a walk-in shower, Watermark rainshower head, soft plush towels, aromatic bath amenities, a ceramic blow dryer, and a lighted mirror.

Outdoors, guests have a private deck surrounded by flowering dogwood trees and cedar, seating for four, a BBQ grill and access to a private firepit with 4 Adirondack chairs. Wood is available as are lawn games. The farm and forest are a short walk from the house. We are a working farm with animals that roam about and others that are behind fencing. Guests are welcome to interact with all animals on the property and should plan to bring abundant baby carrots and apples, boots that can get dirty and bug repellent for walks in the woods.

Guest access
Your accommodations include a private 2-bedroom, 1-bath guest house with a living room, full kitchen, private deck, private garden, and dedicated firepit area, and an array of amenities. Guests staying at Owl's House have access to the wooded area (60 acres) and can wander around the farm and visit with the animals. Follow the instructions provided at check-in and under our house rules for interacting with the animals. The accommodations are for guests staying at the house only. No outside guests without special permission. We do allow events and gatherings, but those would require a site permit, fee, and liability policy. We can host gatherings of up to 50 people. Inquire with the host if you are interested in booking your event at the farm.

The space
Welcome to our lake cabin! This cabin was recently remodeled and contains a great balance of tranquility and modern ammenties. Glasgo pond is home to bass, catfish, and everything in between. Feel free to fish, swim, or boat at your leisure!

The kitchen is small but fierce with all new stainless steel appliances. There are plenty of appliances at your disposal such as a crockpot, air fryer, blender, toaster and much more.

The living room, bunk room, and primary bedroom all have smart TVs. WiFi, central air, laundry in unit, and an awesome view from the dinning room table and couch!

Loft: The loft sleeps 4, offering two queen pull outs. Very comfortable bedding with gel cooled mattresses and privacy screens.

1st Floor Bedroom: Offers 2 Twin beds with room darkening shades. Very comfortable Sealy Beautyrest Mattresses. The main floor full bathroom/shower/tub is just across the hallway. A very wide open and unique home.

Our lovely cat might be floating around the yard. She is very friendly and will have her own cat door access to the basement- and occasional cat sitter visit to feed her in the basement area-This sitter will have NO ACCESS to the main house. The cat is exceptionally good at faking starvation with her big sad eyes-but trust me, she is well taken care of and a very spoiled child lol. She will often be with us, but on rare occasions you may see her.
