Enjoy the beautiful views (the sunsets are particularly spectacular) from multiple outdoor seating areas, the dock, or the 2 firepits. There is also a balcony off of the large king size bedroom. This home rental includes the use of the kayak at no charge.

The house is direct waterfront on Ashland Lake, a ponded section of the Pachaug River in Griswold, CT. You can fish, swim, kayak, canoe, and more in the extremely picturesque waters right off the grassy backyard of our cottage home. Use our kayak or bring your own if you prefer - you can boat right from our personal dock in the backyard.

Although you will want to spend as much time as possible enjoying the water and the views we have gone the extra mile to make all aspects of our waterfront house feel like home.

Inside you will find a game room that is perfect for all ages and a home theaterroom with a large projector screen. The game room also includes a new bunk bed and a Pac-Man arcade game. The main floor of the lake house includes the living room with a tv and plenty of seating, fully stocked kitchen, full bathroom, a queen sized bedroom, and a king size bedroom which has it's own sitting area, desk, and balcony that overlooks the water. Pets are also welcome with a paid pet fee.

Important: Sheets and towels ARE included with your stay. They are washed before and after every guest, feel free to use the laundry room during your stay as needed as well. We also provide a starter pack of paper towels, toilet paper, toiletries, cleaning products, soaps, detergent, sponges, k cups, nespresso pods, and tea!

- "A really amazing place. The pix here don't do it justice. This is a new build so everything is new new new and fresh. It's sparkling clean and very spacious. It's set up to entertain a full family, with lots of beds and three bathrooms. Everything is light and airy, and the floor to upper-ceiling windows make it feel like you're outside. The kitchen is amazing, and has just about every convenience you could ask for in a lake-side house (my mate says it even has a two-level oven). The early morning light in the space is stunning, and I'm guessing it'll be stellar in the summer months. It's close to the Shunock River pizza/brew-pub (where we ate dinner), the local winery (Jonathan Edwards?), and of course it's near the casino, the oceanside at Stonington, Mystic, and Waverly. However, I doubt you'd want to leave in the summer months as the view is wonderful, and the water is right there. Speaking of views, while we were eating breakfast, we were visited by one of the local BALD EAGLES. It flew over the water and landed in the tree right outside the window. I've never been closer to a real eagle. Julia and Cherie are the hosts (warm, nice people!) They answered all our questions, and had a couple suggestions for things we hadn't thought of. We'll be back, for sure."

Yes! The sauna is available year round.
4. Is the cabin heated?
Yes! The cabin has both propane and electric heat sources to keep you toasty even on the coldest of New England winter days.
5. Is there a grill?
Yes! The cabin has a propane and a charcoal grill. We do not provide charcoal, so bring your own please.

Vinola has one bedroom with a queen bed. The main room has one single bed, and single cot. The loft has 2 single beds. (The loft is not to be used by small children for safety.) Full kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The bathroom has a toilet and shower. Vinola has a lovely porch on the front and a fire pit and gas and charcoal grills in the back. There are trails in Pachaug and Arcadia management areas that start at the end of the driveway.
The cabin is a not secluded space. From the cabin, you can see our other cabin, a cottage and a few RV's (depends on season and number of guests). Please view ALL the listing photos to get a feel for the layout of the cabin in relation to other buildings.
Guest access
Guests have private access to the entire cabin. A short 400 foot walk from the porch leads to the property's private beach which guests are welcome to use. There is a picnic table and multiple fire pits for campfires. Guests are also welcome to use our 10 person wood fired Finnish sauna. The sauna has a lakeside deck and direct access to the water for a dip. Guests are welcome to use kayaks, canoes, and paddle board.
Other things to note
Many guests find that they have little to no cell reception here on the lake. If using the App, you can access check in directions without cell reception. We have WiFi in the cabin, so you can get connected as soon as you get inside. The login info is on the table.
We have another cabin on the property, up to three camp trailers (occupied only in the summer) as well as two main houses. We have many family members on the property at any given time and all are friendly and happy you are staying with us! Just remember that there are other people living here, so we expect respect for them as far as noise.

The space is newly remodeled and very cozy! Full kitchen with 4 burner stove and oven, refrigerator, and microwave. The kitchen has a table with 4 chairs and a sofa that can one person can sleep on. The bathroom has a shower, small sink and toilet. There is no TV. (you won't miss it, we promise!) Ellis has a lovely porch on the front with views of Beach Pond. This is not a secluded cabin. We did a 3-mile run off the property and it was safe with almost zero traffic. We left the property and visited the State park for a hike and then went to Buttonwood ice cream. Overall we had a great time. I wish it had been just a little bit warmer. Would definitely go back again."

Loft: The loft sleeps 4, offering two queen pull outs. Very comfortable bedding with gel cooled mattresses and privacy screens.

1st Floor Bedroom: Offers 2 Twin beds with room darkening shades. Very comfortable Sealy Beautyrest Mattresses. The main floor full bathroom/shower/tub is just across the hallway. A very wide open and unique home.
