There weren’t any lights on the front of the building so it made finding the address a little difficult but once we did the weekend was great. If you decide to stay here you should be 420 friendly. I don’t personally partake but the other tenants in this building do and the smell is very noticeable in the mornings. But this was not an issue at all for me."

- "There were several issues with the property. The sidewalk isn’t level so it’s difficult to walk & roll suitcases on it when you have bad knees. The grass needed to be cut. The outside light didn’t work. The headboard has broken areas on it. The mattress is very thin so if you sat on the edge of it you could feel the support in it. Doesn’t look anything like on line. The first night bugs were crawling on the ceiling. I messaged them they repaired the outside light. The coffee pot didn’t work. They did send another over but it wasn’t a keruig so I couldn’t use it as that’s what I had with me to use & what they had to also use. When I pay the price it cost to stay there it should have been better. The good thing is it was close to where I was needed to go. "

Shared washer/dryer located one flight of steps to ground level of building.

One and a half bath consisting of one tub/shower, two toilets, two separate vanities. One blow dryer provided along with Neutrogena Body Wash and Sulfate Free Shampoo/Conditioner for your use while you are our guest, please do not pack out. For monthly guests the toiletries/paper goods/consumables are only provided initially.

Shaded gazebo and bistro table along with Char-Broil 2 burner propane BBQ grill in back yard. After using grill please ensure propane is off, use wire brush to clean grill and once cooled replace cover. In season there are flowers along with strawberries, peaches and mint for you pick and use. Garden has 8ft retaining wall with no guard rail. The garden is not a play area and children must be supervised at all times. Fortunately, McCoy park is just down the street. No cigarette smoking on property, I do not wish to pick up any butts. We are 420 friendly, just not indoors.

Carport is accessed via alley off Farmer St. Space is limited so trucks, large SUVs and other large vehicles will have to park on street. Tennis court, just walk North on sidewalk and past 3 homes. Beyond that there is McCoy Park with a fun summer water feature for the young at heart and horse shoe pits. Independence Square is walking distance, but more than likely you will drive and there is free and abundant close in parking for the many restaurants, shops and movie theatre. Look up ‘Truman Heritage District’ for all the things to do in our neighborhood.

The McClains are a local family that have invested over $25 million in Independence and on the Square. They have made our little corner of the world a delightful place to have for shopping and a treat at Clinton’s Soda Fountain, coffee at Mainstreet Coffee House, along with pizza from Square Pizza, fine Italian at Cafe Verona, Continental at Ophelia’s, Mexican at El Pico, traditional American at Courthouse Exchange and simply great gourmet dogs at UpDog. One of the largest undertakings of the McClains was to bring back Polly’s Pop, a favorite locally made vintage soda with real cane sugar. There are 9 flavors made and bottled right here on the Independence Square. My father, the Captain, would’ve been in his eighties, was born and raised in Independence. He has delicious memories of swigging a Polly’s Pop. The McClains also brought back the bowling alley, Diamond Bowl, it is a bright place where you may have a beer and enjoy more than just bowling. Movies on the big screen at the Phoenix Theatre. In the summer, there is a beer garden at Courthouse Exchange with live music on the weekends. Google to find a schedule for square events, to include music, art, dog days, festivals, farmer’s market, etc.

In Independence history abounds everywhere and especially here at the center of Independence. Jackson County Jail and Marshal’s House (1859); Harry and Bess Truman’s home; Truman Presidential Library; National Frontier Trails Museum devoted to the 3 great western routes: the Santa Fe, Oregon and California Trails. Independence was the “jumping off” point for all 3 trails. There is so much more for anyone interested in the Mormon and Latter Day Saints history. My family has roots as local Latter Day Saints, we’re a part of one of the groups that never went to Salt Lake.

- "It was a mess from the start. Sent us to a different property then booked. Then a week later asked us to pack up and move to the other location. They did allow us to stay after pushing back. Then the property manager kept badgering me about which side of the driveway to park on. After asking her why is mattered which side I park on, she said because guests need that spot. There were no other guests and I was the only guest. She also came and did laundry while we were there. She shut off the hot water heater on 2 occasions leaving us with no hot water for several days and the last 3 days of our stay. She also changed the code to the garage door which was needed to do laundry. Would never recommend this property."

About the place: This is a 1500 sq ft walkout basement of a beautiful home, nestled in a 2.5 acre estate filled with trees and wildlife. There's a spring and serenity meadow, great for meditation. Near the patio theres a fire pit and bbq grill. The basement has a kitchen with coffee maker, popcorn maker, microwave, mini fridge, air fryer, and griddle. It comes loaded with board games and puzzles. Along with an 85" TV in the living room there is a recliner sectional, a ping pong table, foosball table, pool table, air hockey table, and treadmill. In the spacious bedroom there is a 55" TV and king sized bed. There is full bath, private bedroom with TV and king sized bed. Walk out patio surrounded by trees. BBQ grill. Fire pit.

- "We had a great stay. Location was good and even tho we didnt need an early check-in, they told us we could arrive at any time on the day of arrival. A couple things that I think could improve the space is maybe a couple more kitchen appliances (such as an air fryer) since there was no oven/stove. Also for our 3 day stay, maybe some more towels (only supplied 4) /toilet paper (only 1 roll) since there wasn't enough. I did not bother the host with these issues though, so they may have gotten us more had we asked. They were very accommodating when it came to our pet that was with us. I wasn't sure if he was going to bark a lot while we were out, since he isn't crate trained. They told us not to worry about any noise or barking. I do think he quietened fairly quickly after our departure. Our child loved all the games in the space and we would definitely stay again if we were in the area. "

There is a TV with local channels but at this time we do not provide cable, or other streaming services.

Smells - our long term duplex neighbor does smoke and it is an older property; unfortunately cigarette smell does sometimes drift into this unit. We do have plug ins to ease the aroma, but may not be suitable for those who are sensitive.

Noise - this is a unit of a duplex, the living room is a shared wall so you will hear some neighborly noise.

Updated: This property is tobacco and drug free. No smoking. No vaping. No tobacco or marijuana. No exceptions.

Clean and tidy suite with two queen beds, two dressers, coffee maker, kitchenette with full size refrigerator, induction plate, electric skillet, cooking supplies, dishes, dining table, restroom with shower. The suite is located on the main floor of the raised ranch home. One flight of steps to the front door. Take a look at the photos!

Park in a well lit dedicated parking space. Pass by a huge sage bush as you ascend the gentle staircase with railing. As you reach the front porch, you may notice a small flower garden that is mostly self-seeded from the flowers and plants from last season (called a 'chaos garden'). The covered front porch is furnished with seating for you to enjoy during your stay. This area is designated non-smoking.

No tobacco, e-cigarettes, or marijuana products of any kind are allowed on the property (inside or outside) as it is in a school zone. NO nicotine or tobacco products, including any vaping products, are allowed in the suite at all.

Come on inside with the keypad code provided before check-in. Open the front door wide to see the main suite door at the end of the hall (next to the wooden suite door). You will notice four different doors located in the foyer. The Airbnb suite is accessible by the two doors is located on the west side of the foyer (left after entry).

The front door will lock after 30 seconds so if it locks before you get it shut, be sure to disengage the latch before gently shutting the door. Use the same code on the main suite door, as the front door followed by the "#" symbol. Code is only necessary for entry. No code is needed to exit.

There is a coat and hat rack in the hallway with a bench. There is a shoe rack under the bench. If your shoes are wet or dirty, please use the boot mat that is located under the bench. You are welcome to move this mat from under the bench.

Clean and comfortable accommodations include private entry through a foyer into your private living space and private restroom with shower.

Kitchenette with microwave, toaster oven/air fryer combo, refrigerator/freezer, Keurig coffee maker, set of cups/glasses, dishes, utensils, paper plates, and wine glasses. We have toddler-sized utensils as well. If you have toddlers or infants, be sure they are already accustomed to safely using utensils before allowing them to use our utensils! There is a magnetic knife bar above the sink on the side of the cabinet. Be sure to clean and dry knives before replacing them on the magnetic bar. Do not leave knives or sharp utensils within reach of children. Well-lit dining area with a bar height table, two stools, a 36" round table and four folding chairs.

All windows have room darkening blackout curtains. Living space has a brand new (April 2025) couch that pulls out into a queen-size bed! Linens and blankets for this sleeping area are located in the closet. No food or drink on the brand new couch. Stains and spills will require professional cleaning fees assessed to guests.

Bedroom : Two queen-sized beds with a wall-mounted and adjustable smart TV that can be viewed from any area of the bedroom. Remember to bring your logins for your streaming platforms. Use care and caution when adjusting the TV. The bedside table has a projection clock with alarm and indoor/outdoor temperature, as well as a portable fan under the bedside table. Conventional mechanical clock is available in the drawer of the narrow white cabinet.

Guest Wi-Fi is available along with a dedicated workspace, adjustable LED desk lamp, multiple plugs and USB outlets.

Restroom with a tiny sink and walk-in shower with a handheld / adjustable showerhead. Three ADA bars are available in the restroom/shower. The nonslip stone bath mat is cleaned before and after your stay.

You will find a few games and puzzles on the bookshelf in the entryway under the mirror.

Extra blankets, pillows, and heater provided upon request (a/c and heater offered seasonally). There is a folding luggage rack for your use in the closet of the bedroom. You’ll find a laundry basket for gathering used towels and linens. Be sure towels and cloths are dry before putting in the laundry basket.

NOTE: There are parks and trails in the area. Across the street, there is a disc golf course that is accessible after 6:15pm on school days and on the weekends.

Guests have access to the dedicated parking space, covered front porch, foyer, and living unit with restroom and kitchenette. No smoking or vaping anywhere in the building or on the front porch. If you need to smoke, please do so on the driveway (chairs provided) or in your car. Smoking or vaping inside the foyer or suite will incur a $250 cleaning fee to remove contamination. This unit is in a school zone so no marijuana or any illicit drug use is allowed. Guests should note that there is an elementary school nearby and should be mindful not to violate any restrictions. All guests should be appropriately clothed before opening windows or leaving the residence or lounging on the front porch. No exceptions.

This AirBnB is for personal use only. Property may not be used to host clients or to conduct business or sales. No professional photography.
