- "Check in was super easy! GPS took us right there. Directions were super clear to get inside. This place was just what we needed. It had the perfect amenities. I brought my son’s family that has 4 kids under 7. We didn’t spend much time at the house but there is a tiny piano that the kids loved playing. There is a bench seat at the table that was perfect for the little ones to sit at. There was a play pen and a crib to use. We came to Maine to visit the beaches. It was about a 25 min drive to Wingersheek Beach and Long Beach. There are a couple of nice beach chairs for you to use. There is a nice back entry area where we could take our sandy clothes and shoes off to not spread sand through the house. We absolutely loved the shower head!! The towels were soft and they smelled amazingly clean. Everyone slept well. Each room has its own air conditioning unit. There were lots of extra blankets. The house, although old did not have any bad odor. It was very, very clean!! We were all very sad to leave. We did not spend any time in Ipswich but noticed lots of places we would like to eventually come back to visit."

- "We came to Ipswich to attend our granddaughter’s graduation ceremony. Since we had 4 other adult relatives also wanting to attend, we decided to rent a house. We looked at several locations, but the house on the Great Neck shore really caught our eye. It minimized the driving time to the graduation festivities, looked roomy and offered many a scenic view from off the bed room porches. When we arrived, the owner personally checked us in. He mentioned that he lived right in the neighborhood, so if we ever had a problem or question, he was not far away and we had his phone number. We thought this was a splendid arrangement, however things went so well that we didn’t ever have to contact him. The owner also had someone graduating and he sat a few rows in front of us at the graduation ceremony. He later texted us with photos of our granddaughter when she gave her speech. I thought that was a very nice thing to do. Our party really enjoyed out stay, even though the weather eventually turned rainy and cool. We lit a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed that very much. It drafted very well and cleaning up the ashes afterwards was extremely easy. The owner had plenty of firewood for either the fireplace or the fire pit on the beach. I got a lot of comments from everyone concerning how well satisfied they were with the house. We used the kitchen a lot, and were very happy with it. We would all be happy to rent this house again."

- "We have used vrbo for years, this was one of if not the number one place we stayed. This is a perfect couple's getaway. It feels like you're in the middle of nowhere but you are six minutes from restaurants. You can hide away in the modern and immaculately clean rental, go through your sliding glass door to the inground pool, or ask Laurel to introduce you to the animals on site. Laurel was amazing. She lives on site, will give you complete privacy, text daily to see if you need anything, suggest restaurants only locals know about, and answer any questions you may have. Check in was super easy and the fridge was stocked with local eggs, butter, cream, and baked goods. Coffee pods were stocked and the Keurig was top notch. Super thoughtful. After you check in you really dont feel the need to go anywhere. I didnt want to leave a review. I'm selfish and would love to keep this a hidden gem but our stay was so amazing I had to make sure I posted a 5 star review."

It was clean, quiet, and was just as advertised. The beds were really nice. It was walking distance from the center of tosen, but also out to the marshses and beautiful water views in the other direction. Also, Ozzy was really easy to communicate with and was quick to get back to us when we had questions. There are a bunch of stairs both up to the house, then up to the apartment, which was fine for us, but may not be for everyone."

- "This property was part of a historical estate, which was interesting to learn of while walking the property. It is now a 7 acre parcel, with a barn, overlooking the river. It was very nice to unplug here, and be surrounded by nature. If you enjoy canoeing, walking through the woods, and sitting out on a patio with a firepit, this is the place to be. There were many deer sightings, and plenty of birds to see. It is down a long drive, so very peaceful, but town for conveniences are very close by. We were here for a family reunion and 90th birthday celebration. There are stairs for all of the bedrooms, if that is a consideration for your stay. "

The reviews are in for the Great Neck Nook — a little bit of heaven on the North Shore with views of Plum Island Sound and access to a sandy, private beach. Its location makes it a great base camp for exploring the coast where you’ll find a wide range of activities that suit every taste including the Crane Estate which offers art and music exhibitions, kayaking and hiking and, of course, quintessential Crane Beach.

There are also plenty of great restaurants to choose from although, if you’re like us, you’ll find yourself opting for cocktails on the Adirondack chairs, a barbecue on the deck, and then walking around the neighborhood as the sun goes down over the sound.

If you’re looking to live by the sea this summer, the Great Neck Nook is a perfect place to do it.

We went into Ipswitch a handful of times to eat, tour the museum and look at all of the First Period Homes. Our kids enjoyed ice cream and mini golf at Whites and our days at Crane Beach and Plum Island. Overall, this house was essentially a home for us and that was exactly what I was looking for when planning our summer vacation. Thanks for the memories! ."

Hard to beat location surrounded by scenery where farm meets the sea, peaceful and serene. We were just minutes from beautiful beaches, trails, and restaurants. This location had easy access to all this scenic area holds. It was hard to leave! Communication with our host, Amy was excellent. She greeted us upon arrival to introduce us to this perfectly converted barn home and to answer any questions we may have. Spacious and fun for families and small groups, you can walk right down to Pavilion Beach within 10 minutes and access to Clark Beach, a private beach for Great Neck residents.

While it is a small house, there is great space inside. The living area is open an has a nice view outside toward the ocean. The living area is comfy with nice sofas to really relax. Cable and high speed wifi are standard, of course.

There is a master bedroom with a side view of the ocean, so you can see a beautiful sunrise from the queen sized bed in the morning. The other bedroom has also has a queen sized bed.

Nice kitchen space with lots of cooking equipment needed to entertain or cook, including a lobster pot and a small dishwasher.

There is also a windowed-in sitting room which faces the ocean and leads to the balcony where great views and barbecues can be had.

Our property is perfectly suited to accommodate a group of 8-10 guests who are attending weddings at The Crane Estate or in the Cape Ann area. Unfortunately, our property is currently not appropriate for young children.

The stairs walking up to the units and our particular unit are very steep. The property manager was very easy to get ahold of and helpful. Overall it is a good value."

For cooler days there is an electric fireplace and baseboard heat with thermostat in the living room, individual baseboard heaters in each bedroom, and the bathroom.

Enter the split level house and you'll immediately understand why this is the perfect lodge for group retreats. The main floor has a large great room with plenty of seating and opens up to the dining area so there is space for all to gather. There is no shortage or windows to overlook your natural surroundings.

The kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances, utensils and cookware you need to feel at home. The group's cooks will enjoy stainless appliances, stone counters, and a gas stovetop. This thoughtfully-designed home provides an additional dining area right off the kitchen with seating for 8.

The final gathering space on this floor is the "den" complete with grand piano, decorative fireplace and a 55" TV with Roku entertainment system, allowing full access to your favorite streaming services. This room has so many options for use as it has doors for privacy. Shut the doors and use the desk setup as a remote workspace. Send the kids in here for a movie night while the adults use the Great Room space. Use the board games provided and make this the game room. The possibilities are endless!

As Norwegians would say, this Tree House (c. 1870) is made of “honest wood.” Its Scandinavian influence comes naturally, as the home where my two daughters grew up—both Norwegian and American citizens. The blend of old and new features stands out in the newly renovated kitchen/dining/work areas, where floor-to-ceiling windows bring the outside inside. Golden pine floors throughout. This house incorporates warmth and light, practicality and comfort, with thoughtful use of space and material—glass, wood, and textile. Guests have private access to three floors, including an open kitchen/dining/work area as well as a living room on the first floor; two bedrooms and full bath on the second floor; and a “penthouse” on the third floor—one semi-divided room that can function as both bedroom and office—with views from the treetops overlooking historic Ipswich. The master bath includes a Jacuzzi tub for relaxing after an active day of cycling, kayaking or hiking the many trails available in Ipswich and the surrounding areas.

Sparkling new construction on Great Neck designed and constructed for a leisurely getaway and to take advantage of the mesmerizing views at the mouth of the Ipswich River.
