A stylish reimagining of our ever-popular Coconut Hut. This perfectly positioned gem sits in a secluded park-like paradise within a 5-minute walk to the idyllic Anini beach. With new construction, the house contains hardwood floors, whole house water filtration, AC in all rooms, portable Sonos speakers, and WiFi indoors and on the deck. The living spaces boast a large fold out flat screen TV, Wolfe range with indoor grill, LG washer/dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, and freezer with ice maker. There is a Heston outdoor bbq for grilling.
The interior furnishings are a mix of vintage bamboo, midcentury classics, and koa wood Hawaiian furniture. The great room is filled with light, complete with an expansive view of the coconut trees on the property. A large remote-controlled shade allows for complete privacy, day or night, from the glass wall in the living room. The light and ambiance are fantastic throughout the house. It is serene and modern with a big nod to midcentury design, Hawaiian, and Asian art. Beautiful inside and out.
The primary king bedroom includes a stunning bathroom with Toto toilet, dual sinks, private outdoor shower garden featuring unique Hawaiian plants and a redwood soaking tub. There are ample closets, built in storage, and a dresser.
The secondary queen bedroom includes a bathroom with Toto toilet and an adjacent private outdoor shower garden featuring Hawaiian native plants. There is ample storage available in the second bedroom.

This property is ideal because it is on a spit of land away from the mountains. Most of the North Shore towns are near the base of tall mountains cause much more rain than the Kilauea Farms area and Hideaway Bay. Often times the wetness passes over us as clouds, then collects at the mountains and rains heavily. Therefore towns like Hanalei receive over twice as much rainfall as Hideaway Bay and Kilauea Farms.
Just minutes from the Princeville airport for helicopter rides, just 4 miles from the great swimming and snorkeling at Anini Beach, three miles from Kilauea-Town and Pau Hana bakery serving fresh pastries, bagels, and coffee every morning and a short walk to the beach.
The Beach: Guests staying in Hideaway Bay or Plumeria Moon enjoy nearby secluded and beautiful Waiakalua Beach. This beach is for many a dream come true. 1. Please Be Good Neighbors
Keep noise to a minimum, especially before 8:00 am and after 10:00 pm. Your neighbors (distant, in our case) probably have to go to work the next day, so please be considerate. Turn off outdoor lights at night whenever possible. We enjoy our dark nights when the stars are bright and beautiful. Of equal importance, our wildlife can become disoriented at night if lights are too bright. Please be sure you park only on property; we have plenty of space for parking and driving on the lawn is ok. If you have any questions about our neighbors or how to best be considerate of them, please call Thomas.
2. Beach Safety
Be mindful of the surf. Our shorelines face thousands of miles of open ocean. Northern winter storms and southern summer storms can bring us extremely dangerous surf conditions. NEVER turn your back on the ocean – summer or winter. Rogue waves can appear even in calm surf conditions. There are lifeguards at Haena Beach Park, Hanalei Pavilion, Lydgate, Poipu Beach Park, Salt Pond and Kekaha. For your family’s safety, we advise that you check with lifeguards before going into the ocean. For non-guarded beaches, you should at least check with local residents who are there regarding unseen currents or other dangers.

In case of fire or medical emergency, call 9-1-1. The address and phone number of your accommodation is posted on the inside of both bedroom doors. For non-emergency assistance, please call Police Dispatch. The phone number for Wilcox Hospital in Lihue is. The closest emergency treatment center is Mahelona Hospital up the hill on your right as you enter Kapa’a.
4. Weather
We do experience flash flooding during periods of heavy rain. If you must drive in this kind of weather, drive with extreme caution. Severe weather could result in the temporary closing of the main road out of Hanalei. For the most up to the minute Traffic and Weather information, please call.
5. Disaster Emergencies
On the first business day of each month at 11:45 am, our Civil Defense sirens are tested. However, if you hear these sirens at any other time, please tune to AM radio station KQNG (“KONG”) at AM 570 for real-time reports and instructions. Also, the front of the Kaua’i phone book has emergency, disaster, evacuation and shelter information. Hurricane emergency supplies have been provided and are located over the bathroom in the back bedroom.
6. Emergency Escape Route
From each bedroom the safest escape route in case of fire is through the sliding glass door which leads directly outside. As soon as safely possible, please call 911.
7. Security
Although theft in our neighborhood is uncommon, please be cautious with your personal belongings. It is always best to lock up your valuables. Lock the doors and windows when you leave the property.
8. Farming Activity
Please be aware that you are staying on a small working farm which is among many other working farms. With this farm activity comes potential noise, fugitive dust, farm equipment on roads and other environmental impacts.
9. Island Driving Etiquette
Please honor the posted speed limits. Frequently check your rear view mirror. If more than 4 or 5 cars are stacking up behind you, pull completely off to the side of the road and let them pass. This can also help you when driving at night as our dark roads can be confusing. The cars following you likely know where they are going and can help light the way for you.
If you are lost, remember that this is a small island and you will find your way soon. Keep driving until you find a safe place to pull over and turn around. If you can head downhill, you will get to the ocean within a few miles. Never make a U-turn on the highway.
When navigating the one-lane bridges, cross the bridges caravan style. It is usually appropriate for 5 or 6 cars to cross at a time. A simple rule of thumb: Drain the lane; if you arrive late – wait. When parking at the beaches, park, or sight-seeing locations be sure to park fully off the street, in assigned or clearly marked parking spaces. If you want to stop to enjoy the scenery, please pull completely off to the side of the road.
10. Tsunami Zone
The property is considered by the county of Kauai to be within the tsunami zone, despite being on a high bluff hundreds of feet above sea level. As required, there is a map and directions of a tsunami evacuation route provided in the house binder.

Jungle Bee Farms is a stunning 23 acre estate overlooking the northern most point in the Hawaiian Island chain with amazing view of the pacific and private access to Secret Beach. Our trail winds through a jungle Cacao farm/botanical garden with an array of tropical plants along a small creek with two waterfalls. On your stroll you will pass by approximately 400 Cacao (chocolate) trees on you way to the beach/ocean.
There are two homes on the property, a 3 Bedroom Main House and a 1 Bedroom Ocean Suite, the Ocean suite was remodeled and updated in 2016 and the main house was updated and remodeled in the beginning of 2022.
3 Bedroom home- 2 king master bedrooms with attached full bathrooms. One smaller sized room with a full size bed. A third full bathroom is directly outside the small bedroom.. This home has a large open kitchen/living/dining area, which is great for family gatherings as well as an attached rear Lanai (porch) with panoramic ocean and garden views. The home is fully appointed with a well stocked kitchen, High Quality linens, and comfortable island style furnishings. Amenities include high speed wireless, HD cable TV, phone with free long distance throughout North America (now also Canada and Mexico), Bose docking stereo, kids toys and books, Brand new Air Conditioning throughout, and much more (full list below) This home was completely updated in the beginning of 2022 so has all new furniture, fresh paint job, and concrete front patio with outdoor furniture and grill. 1 Bedroom Ocean Suite – This house sits perched on top of a valley leading down to Secret Beach and the ocean views are amazing! The 785 sq. ft. Suite is fully equipped with a well appointed kitchen, washer dryer, full bath with rain shower, King bed, 42” flat screen TV, Bluetooth stereo, land line phone with free long distance (North America,Canada, and Mexico), HD digital Cable TV and Wireless internet, Air Conditioning, and quality furnishings. The outside space offers a large sunset deck with an outdoor dining table, seating area, Pavilion, Brand new hot tube 2023, outdoor hot and cold shower, and lounge chairs with a large umbrella. Enjoy stunning sunset views from the deck or the living room and fall asleep to the sounds of the waterfall in the valley below. We have also added a dining pavilion, more seating, and a large umbrella for the lounge chairs.
Jungle Bee Farms is a Cacao or Chocolate farm, but the plant diversity impressive with many exotic fruit species, Cacao (chocolate) trees, and Native Hawaiian Plants. We also have a citrus orchard where you can pick fresh tangelos, ruby red grapefruit, and tangerines most of the year.
You will have 23 acres to explore on our private trail between the homes and the beach. Secret beach is one of Kauai’s true gems. With its limited public access you can enjoy this mile long stretch of white sand beach practically by yourself. Secret beach offers experienced surfers world-class waves in the winter and is usually calm in the summer. In your wanderings, you’ll discover nature’s bounty as you walk through our exotic fruit orchards, pick tropical flowers, and enjoy the two magical waterfalls on the property.

- "Our Family travelled from Los Angeles California and Canberra Australia to stay at this beautiful property. The main house and the cottage were a perfect fit for us, they were both nicely equipped. The beach is beautiful, and we really enjoyed walking and hiking the trail. Located near Kilauea town & lighthouse, it was near some good shopping and a nice small market, it it’s not far from Princeville where a large market is, and also not too a far drive from Hanilei which has shops and a great scenic beach. Take a cruise up the coast to see the beauty of the Napoli coast, it’s amazing! We would definitely recommend the Jungle Bee, it’s an amazing large private property. Jimmy the Caretaker was really helpful with everything."

In a word, it was perfect. My wife is a tough customer when it comes to interiors and she was blown away at how tasteful, relaxing, fun, and well-though-out the place was. Every time we needed something, it was there. It had a great tropical feel and the surroundings were rejuvenating, including the cats and chickens. We enjoyed being there so much that we hardly bothered to eat out and just grilled fish about every night. We watched movies and just hung out and enjoyed time as a family (we must have watched Scooby Doo and the Ghost Pirates 7 times!). When we left for the last leg of our trip, for which we stayed at the Hyatt, we were seriously sad and depressed to be leaving our home away from home. We would stay there again in a second and recommend it highly to anyone considering a vacation to Kauai--especially if they have kids and want a more relaxing atmosphere than expensive resorts & restaurants.

We got back home late last night and are already missing the islands. Of the three homes we rented on the islands, yours was the best. So clean and such an impressive attention to detail we've not seen before in our travels with everything needed to make the most of our stay and the outside shower was a total bonus. The farm stay cottage is an attractive, hand-crafted 500 square foot wooden guest house – completely self-contained and away from the main house. It overlooks our vegetable garden. It is landscaped with lush, tropical plantings to insure your privacy. Decorated in simple and tasteful island style, the cottage is fully and comfortably equipped for any length stay-with full bathroom with shower and tub inside, outside shower for after beach (or anytime– we so prefer guests us this exclusively), dining area, kitchenette and large covered lanai with grill.
The cottage is airy and bright, with big windows and many shutters to let in the abundant trade winds. The kitchenette is perfect for vacation cooking—with small refrigerator, double sink, two burner electric stove top, large convection toaster oven, coffee maker, coffee grinder and blender. There is a smart TV with a DVD player and a large selection of movies for your enjoyment, shelves full of books, puzzles and games, and baskets overflowing with diverse magazines for beach reading. We are happy to deliver a complimentary basket of seasonal farm produce to you during your stay, should you like – just let us know when you check in! 1. Please Be Good Neighbors
Keep noise to a minimum, especially before 8:00 am and after 9:00 pm. Turn off outdoor lights at night whenever possible. We enjoy our dark nights when the stars are bright and beautiful. Of equal importance, our wildlife can become disoriented at night if lights are too bright. County rules allow only 3 vehicles on the property. Please be sure you park only on property; we have plenty of space- parking and driving on the lawn is ok. If you have any questions about our neighbors or how to best be considerate of them, please call Thomas.
2. Beach Safety
Be mindful of the surf. Our shorelines face thousands of miles of open ocean. Northern winter storms and southern summer storms can bring us extremely dangerous surf conditions. NEVER turn your back on the ocean – summer or winter. Rogue waves can appear even in calm surf conditions. There are lifeguards at Haena Beach Park, Hanalei Pavilion, Lydgate, Poipu Beach Park, Salt Pond and Kekaha. For your family’s safety, we advise that you check with lifeguards before going into the ocean.

In case of fire or medical emergency, call 9-1-1. The address and phone number of your house is posted inside the front door. For non-emergency assistance, please call Police Dispatch Wilcox Hospital in Lihue. The closest emergency treatment center is Mahelona Hospital up the hill on your right as you enter Kapa’a. Look for the hospital sign.
4. Weather
The island does experience flash flooding during periods of heavy rain. If you must drive in this kind of weather, drive with extreme caution. Severe weather could result in the temporary closing of the main road out of Hanalei. For the most up to the minute Traffic and Weather information, please call. While at the house, you are safely on high ground.
5. Disaster Emergencies
On the first business day of each month at 11:45 am, our Civil Defense sirens are tested. However, if you hear these sirens at any other time, please tune to AM radio station KQNG (“KONG”) at AM 570 for real-time reports and instructions. Also, the front of the Kaua’i phone book has emergency, disaster, evacuation and shelter information. Hurricane emergency supplies have been provided and are located in the garage.
6. Emergency Escape Route
In case of fire, the safest escape route from each downstairs bedroom is through the sliding glass door which leads directly outside. Upstairs bedrooms should exit the home by way of the main stairs then out the front or back door. As soon as safely possible, please call 911.
7. Security
Although theft in our neighborhood is uncommon, please be cautious with your personal belongings. It is always best to lock up your valuables. Lock the doors and windows when you leave the property.
8. Beach Access
The beach below the property can be accessed using the public trail which is located just east of the home. Please see the map in the house information binder and respect the signs around the property.
9. Farming Activity
Please be aware that you are staying on a small working farm which is surrounded by other working farms. With this farm activity comes potential noise, fugitive dust, farm equipment on roads and other environmental impacts.
10. Island Driving Etiquette
Please honor the posted speed limits. Frequently check your rear view mirror. If more than 4 or 5 cars are stacking up behind you, pull completely off to the side of the road and let them pass. This can also help you when driving at night as our dark roads can be confusing. If you are lost, remember that this is a small island and you will find your way soon. Keep driving until you find a safe place to pull over and turn around. Never make a U-turn on the highway. When navigating the one-lane bridges, cross the bridges in groups of 5 or 6 cars at a time. A simple rule of thumb: Drain the lane; if you arrive late – wait. When parking at the beaches, park, or sight-seeing locations be sure to park fully off the street, in assigned or clearly marked parking spaces. If you want to stop to enjoy the scenery, please pull completely off to the side of the road. We hope you will enjoy your stay on our magical island!
11. Tsunami Zone
Despite being on a bluff hundreds of feet above sea level, the property's proximity to the ocean puts it in the tsunami zone. An evacuation route map and information are mounted on the wall by the front door as well as in the house binder.

The snorkeling was also phenomenal. We went every day." - "The property is newly renovated. It is set up perfectly for a beach vacation. Long walks down the beach are out your door, toys are in the garage for beach fun, sunsets are stunning from the porch, and the large porch and generous living space make it perfect for when the Kauai rainstorms swoop In. The bedrooms, kitchen, and porch have newer furnishings and everything you would need is supplied. You will need a car as dinners, shopping, other beaches will require a 15-30 minute drive. If you have a larger group, two cars would be important as it does rain frequently on this island and if you want to chase the sun or go kayaking or on a tour, the people back at the house will not have civilization accessible by foot. The beach and quiet are the best part of this home, but a second car could be important for a group of adults. My group worked from here and Wi-Fi and tv access were no problem."

You may walk around the property as long as you follow 3 rules: 1) Do NOT stand below coconut trees 2) Do not approach any buildings other than your cottage, and 3) do not engage our workers in conversation. They love to chat, but we need them to work :)
As a long-time, nearly 40 year resident farmer, I offer private farm tours to parties of up to 4 in size, for $100 per hour. I can provide a brief overview in one hour, but a more in-depth tour can last for 1.5 to 2 hours.

You may spectate, or join in on, a weekly slow pitch softball game we host. The field is located at some distance from the studio.

The large studio features a Big Screen TV with cable and lots of movie and TV programs streaming, as well as fast WI-FI.
Parking is easy and right outside the accommodation.
There is a great outside lanai with a table chairs, a small gas barbeque and garden views. We provide beach chairs, a beach umbrella, beach towels, and even a couple of boogie boards, which you may use at your own risk. Please be safe!

We had everything we needed to enjoy staying in and at the same time close enough to grocery and food options to pop out on a whim without a lot of planning required. Same for beaches and island activities! Turning off the main highway to a long quiet road with turnouts to the pineapple farm and a great beach on one side a botanic garden opposite, all walkable and add to the magic, majesty and beauty of this place! Bruce, Cyndee and their extended family were welcoming and exceptional hosts. We loved it!"

- "House: I love this Hawaiian-style, eco-friendly, and art filled home. The floorplan is contemporary so it affords you all the conveniences of modern life, but with an abundance of traditional flourishes making you feel that you are seeing the “real” Hawaii. Plus the huge living area is filled with natural light with large screened sliding doors giving you all the enjoyment of outdoor living without the bugs. The structure is not only comfortable, beautiful, and well appointed, but there are wonderful hidden gems everywhere. This place has loads of charm, and is very private. It is unique, and spacious; it is stylish, modern, and artsy– everything you might want in a Hawaiian get-away or retreat. We felt instantly at home. There are also several attached and covered porches for relaxing, eating and daydreaming, which we took full advantage of. I am an avid cook, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need PLUS there is a grill, with a view of the one hole golf course right on the lawn! Grounds: The house is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens, and from every room on the East side of the house you look across the property to the picturesque lake filled with bird life. Fruit trees line the drive to the house with not only the requisite oranges and other citrus trees but also star fruit, rambutan, and mango trees. The lovely stone lined salt water pool and hot tub are a short walk down a rustic path bordered by a rushing stream. Location: I have only stayed in Poipu on previous trips to Kauai, but this vacation changed my mind forever. The North side of the island is lush and peaceful and we found everything we needed in the nearby towns of Kilauea and Princeville (just a few miles down the road). The house is also located in a wildlife refuge so it is akin to living in a well groomed park. Host: Steve was so incredibly helpful, friendly, and amiable as well as very communicative. His suggestions for local shops and restaurants were extremely helpful and he had a genuine concern about our well being. All these factors made our experience truly exceptional. The house has everything you might need, and Steve very generously lent us a couple of extra snorkel gear bags so that everyone in our party could take advantage of the amazing reef-life close by at Anini Beach where you can swim with the sea turtles. Hale Kai Kalani (“House of the Heavenly Sea”) is a perfect Kauai cottage situated on one and a half acres of land just up from the picturesque Rock Quarry Beach (also known as Kahili Beach). Conveniently located near Kilauea Town, home of the Kilauea Lighthouse and the Crater Hill National Wildlife Refuge along with many beautiful Kauai beaches. Rock Quarry Beach is just a ten minute walk or two minute drive from your comfortably furnished island vacation home.
The large spacious lanai overlooks the Pacific Ocean, the Kilauea River valley, the lush Crater Hill National Wildlife Preserve and a fresh tropical jungle waterfall. The property’s lushly landscaped grounds include seasonal tropical fruits including bananas, limes, figs, starfruit, and coconuts…all available to you during your stay.

- "This house is a great location to anchor your North island fun, many beaches "one 13 min walk", amazing food, easy shopping for food / gas / etc without dealing with the Princeville traffic The lānai is spectacular, with all day shade, fresh trade winds blow right up the hill / through the house, we turn off the ample AirCon for natural breeze. Outside table and lounges are great and comfy. The house is very comfy with great couch's / tables, and yes Rummikub..!!! Granite counter tops / full kitchen / blender, I don't think coffee grinder but didnt need it as they gave us great stuff pre ground. One great think about getting to this house is that it has it's own turn lane off the main road "very safe at night". Things to note: The beach below the house is public, so you can get a bit of low speed cars / gravel driving on the road that is below the sight line of the view, but nothing at night, very quiet. Has beach chair's / boogy boards / etc Make sure to check the guest log before leaving, very interesting reading about how people used this house durning COVID, great get away... The only non 5 star "4/5" item was cleanliness, but remember this house is almost off grid and should expect some level of dust / dirt around the place "it's in the country...."

- "Great vacation!!!" - "No words can express the splendor of this location and the beautiful oasis that this home offers. It was truly a dream come true...." - "We rented this peoperty for a party of 9 friends. We had the the best time we have ever had in Hawaii! The place was amazing with great views and Prime location. 15 min drive to Hanalei bay and all amenities. Easy jog to the closest beach which was about 1.5 miles away. Well stocked kitchen, extra linnens and towel with seprate towels for the pool. It also has a complete laundry room so you can freshen up pool towels, clothes etc. The main attraction was the pool and the hot tub with a waterfall. The pool is not heated but you can request it to be heated for an extra price but really we never felt the need to heat the pool as the hot tub is next to the pool. If you get cold, hop into the hot tub! There is a dedicated concierge assigned to the property so you can book trips, massages, luau, private chef and a host of other options. The property manager was very responsive to any questions we had and we felt well taken care for. The check in check out process was a breeze. Things to improve... Mostly small stuff and these are more suggestions then critique. It would be nice to have some yard games. There are some pool floats and beach stuff like chairs and coolers but a set of Bachi balls or corn hole would be nice. Not all bathrooms have hairdryers. Citronella candles would be helpfull for the lanai dinning area as mosquitos show up in the evening. Again not a deal breakers but just suggestions. If planning to stay Northshore Kuai, this is hands down the place to stay!"

The space
Pineapple offers a built-in queen bed and a comfortable queen sofa bed, as well as a dual headed tile shower and bathroom and a well-appointed kitchenette.
The space offers art and artifacts from the world over, memories of our travels around the globe. There is an extensive library. This is NOT a boring condo-type space, and as nice or nicer than any luxury hotel on island.. Pineapple is a truly special accommodation.
Guest often comment that the pictures do not really do the studio justice, It is larger than it looks, and extensively well-equipped.
In addition to the lovely accommodation shown in the photos, there is a table and chairs and small gas barbeque on the outside lanai with lovely garden views. We know how to love living in paradise, and so should you!
While there is no dedicated washer and dryer at Pineapple, we do offer a wash/dry/fold option for $25 for a large load, using our personal laundry facilities.
That said, despite our best effort to provide amenities to our guests, we, like anyone else, occasionally experience an outage of one sort or other. We make our best efforts to make things right and get issues repaired as quickly as possible. If one amenity is unavailable for more than half of your stay, we will refund, through the Airbnb resolution system, an amount equal to 20% of the amount paid to us by Airbnb. If two or more amenities become unavailable for more than half of your stay, we will refund an additional 20% for each unavailable amenity. Refunds of this sort are, thankfully, rare. :)
We often have a rental car available for our guests at attractive prices. Car rentals at reasonable prices are currently difficult to find in the islands. Once you have booked a stay, send me a message and I will respond with availability, rates, and requirements.
I offer personalized farm tours for up to four guests for $100 per hour, by appointment only. As a nearing 40 year resident farmer here on Kauai, I offer lots of insight to sub-tropical agriculture.
The Sugarloaf Pineapple Farmstay is a legal, permitted "homestay", Class IV Zoning Permit Z-IV-2015-35, Use Permit U-2015-34, Special Permit SP-2015-12.
We recently had a guest arrive in a Tesla electric vehicle and used our 110v outlet to charge the car while parked. If you come with an electric car and wish to plug into our 110V outlet (220V is not available) there will be an additional fee levied of $10 per day, payable in cash. I am sorry, we cannot offer free fuel, electric or otherwise.
Guest access
Guests are welcome to wander around the farm from 8am to 6pm, as long as they follow these rules:
1) Never stand below one of our few coconut trees, or under the tall albezia trees down by the stream at the bottom of the property. Falling coconuts and albezia branches present a real danger.
2) Do not approach any buildings other than your accommodation unless invited to do so.
3) Do not engage our workers in conversation. There is work to be done...

A rental car is highly recommended for exploring Kauai. After you book the accommodation, inquire about availability of our rental cars. No problem, plenty of room to park at the Pineapple Studio.

We often offer a rental vehicle to our guests, a Ford Escape SUV in excellent condition with cold AC and regularly cleaned and maintained. Be sure to mention your interest either when making an inquiry or after you book.

The cottage is airy and bright, with big windows and many shutters to let in the abundant trade winds. The kitchenette is perfect for vacation cooking—with small refrigerator, double sink, two burner electric stove top, large convection toaster oven, coffee maker, coffee grinder and blender. There is a smart TV with a DVD player and a large selection of movies for your enjoyment, shelves full of books, puzzles and games, and baskets overflowing with diverse magazines for beach reading. There is wi-fi in the cottage.
Imagine enjoying your hot coffee or cocktail on your lanai . . . a lazy late afternoon with a book and a nap listening to the palm fronds rustling . . barbequing on the deck after a full day playing on an exquisite Kauai beach – the possibilities are endless! This means, among other things, that we keep our garden and orchards pesticide-free and our cottage insecticide-free. Subsequently you might see insects in our cottage, along with their charming “predators” the geckos. We are a working organic farm – the perfect destination for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path alternative to the hotel and resort experience.
Please note that your stay includes your own self-contained cottage with covered lanai, surrounded by lush landscaping and the ambiance of overlooking our market garden. We are happy to deliver a complimentary basket of seasonal farm produce to you during your stay, should you like – just let us know when you check in! As a working farm, we respectfully ask that guests not wander the farm on their own. However, we are happy to offer in-depth farm tours. They last about an hour long and cost $25 per person. Anini Mauka provides you great access to Anini and Kalihiwai beaches that are minutes away. Drive down the road and be at the back of Kalihiwai Bay, where you can play with your family and kids in the river, paddle board to the waterfall and surf all day long. You can also drive a couple of minutes to Anini beach, great for snorkeling, swimming and shell picking.
The home is a tropical paradise with modern island style furniture, open floor plan, and cool breezes, overhead ceiling fans. Upgraded touches throughout. The main living room has a large A/C unit that keeps the entire home nice and cool, and the second living room has a portable AC for added comfort.
All one level and a single story home, this home is great home base to unwind in after a long day of adventure. The master bedroom includes a King bed and attached full bath (shower). The two guest rooms in the main area of the home boasts Queen beds. The first guest bedroom in the main area had its own magnificent bathroom with dual sinks, sweeping vanity area and an expansive shower with dual shower heads. Please remember you are in a neighborhood - we ask that you extend Aloha to your neighbors and keep noise to a minimum, especially before 8:00am and after 9:00pm. While enjoying our beaches we ask that you are mindful of the surf and encourage you to swim at lifeguarded beaches only. The North Shore of Kauai has several quaint, historic bridges which require an extra consideration of Aloha! These bridges are one-lane only. Local etiquette is to allow 5-7 cars to cross at one time. If you are the 8th vehicle in line, please stop and wait for the other side of the bridge to cross first. Please be considerate and courteous. Be sure to drive with Aloha!

Three bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen, 1 double) all downstairs, and 2 full bathrooms in the heart of Kilauea town. (There is a fourth bedroom with a king size bed upstairs, and you are welcome to use it. I don't count it as a bedroom, because it is a loft bedroom, open on one side.) Drive to white sand beaches in minutes, or walk to restaurants, bakery, and shopping. Rural beauty on the scenic north shore.
The space
A spacious house in a local neighborhood which sleeps up to 6 people. Well equipped. I outfit this house like my primary home: 300+ thread count 100% cotton sheets, plenty of towels, every small appliance in the kitchen, cooking and baking equipment like I have in my kitchen at home. There is a Weber charcoal kettle BBQ, plus a little Weber Smoky Joe (portable charcoal kettle) to take to the beach. There are beach chairs and a cooler.

Whether it is one couple or three, you have exclusive access to the entire house and yard. There is parking in the driveway, as well as street parking. At various times of the year, the yard produces mangos (July), avocados, limes, lychees and papaya. There is a coconut tree, too, but we have it trimmed before the coconuts mature for safety sake.
Other things to note
The maximum occupancy of this house is 6 people. Neither the housecleaner, nor the sewage system (a cesspool) can handle any more than this. The house will be clean upon your arrival, and cleaned after you check out, but not during your stay. TVNC-1130

Our well-maintained beach house (located halfway between Kilauea and Kapaa) is in the unspoiled, natural Kauai, just a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous beach! It is also one of the rare vacation rentals with central Air Conditioning for the warmest days! The amenities of home plus the beauty of Kauai make for an unforgettable vacation. The space
There are hundreds of vacation rentals in touristy settings, and if you like town living, then maybe Princeville or Kapaa would be more appropriate for you. Skipper's offers seclusion in a very rural valley, close to a gorgeous beach and yet centrally-located to all the great things Kauai offers. My preference is to be out of the touristy areas, and if you are like that, then I think you will enjoy Skipper's Beach Cabana. Sleeps six adults in queen beds, and two kids who don't mind floor mattresses (total of 8 guests). There is also full house air conditioning, and an OUTDOOR HAWAIIAN SHOWER, which has been a very popular amenity for our guests. FYI, the $447 per night includes both rent and all Hawaii taxes. The one time outcleaning fee is $250 extra.

Skipper's is centrally-located on the island, and it is within 15 minutes drive to world-class restaurants and shopping in either direction from the house. The beach is a delightful 5 minute walk down the road, and the house, which is relatively new, offers all the amenities you can think of. As people make suggestions to me, the amenities are building.

A stylish reimagining of our ever-popular Coconut Hut. This perfectly positioned gem sits in a secluded park-like paradise within a 5-minute walk to the idyllic Anini beach. The views from the bluff are Absolutely stunning, so much more advantageous from higher up, yet and only a few steps to a beautiful white sandy beach. Sometimes monk seals will come in to bask in the sun. Its not uncommon to see a pod of dolphins come in to the bay.

There are little coves of warm water around the reef, great for small children( with a parents watchful eye). There are a few pineapple plants in the front yard and Banana Trees in the surrounding area. The mountains are lush and green beautiful as well. Thats why they call Kauai the Garden Island. There is plenty of outdoor seating. The neighbors are far enough away for total privacy. If you like the hustle and Bustle that you have at resorts with lots of people and pools, this is not the place for you. Please be aware you are in a jungle environment, backed up to 48 Acres of bare land. You will see bugs. It’s best to keep the doors shut. Otherwise bugs will come in . It is not a resort where there is not much nature surrounding. It. We have pest control service the property regularly. There is additional spray provided.

You will have access to the entire house and spacious front yard. Their is no owners or property managers living on the property. We respect your privacy. Their is a on island contact in case you need assistance with anything. Just down the driveway on the left is a rope with a picnic table, that is private property as well as the deck in the side of the hill. Please go past the rope just a few more steps and you will have access to the beach.

Please take garbage down to county can on the corner of Molooa rd and Kuono rd. Near the No Outlet sign. 17.75 percent Taxes are collected separately, not at time of booking. separate payment about 4 weeks prior to your arrival. As one of the more spacious properties on Anini Beach, ’Hale La'Au Pohaku' (House of Wood and Rock) and 'Hale Ohana' offer 4,200 square feet of combined indoor floor space, plus 500 square feet of two covered lanais spread out over two homes on a private lot. This estate sits just 225 feet from the ocean with a private path to the beach out the front door.
Main Home:
Step into paradise as the open great room comes with Koa wood floors, doors, and cabinets, as well as a 24-foot-high, custom Hawaiian wood cathedral ceiling, studded with skylights, marble, and granite finishes. 3 Bedroom Plantation Style home- 2 king sized master bedrooms with attached bathrooms. One smaller sized room with a full sized bed. A third full bathroom is directly outside the small bedroom. This home has a large open kitchen/living/dining area which is great for family gatherings as well as an attached rear Lanai (porch) with panoramic ocean, Mountain, and garden views. The home is fully appointed with a well stocked kitchen, High Quality linens, and comfortable island style furnishings. Amenities include high speed wireless, HD cable TV 47" in living room and 29" with dvd in the smaller bedroom, land line phone with free long distance throughout North America (now also Canada and Mexico), iPod docking stereo, kids toys and books, and much more (full list below) Kauai’s trade winds keep the house quite cool, but we also have an Air conditioning system in all rooms of the home. Princeville is only five miles away with excellent golf, horseback riding, tennis, shopping and restaurants.

I love this Hawaiian-style, eco-friendly, and art filled home. The floorplan is contemporary so it affords you all the conveniences of modern life, but with an abundance of traditional flourishes making you feel that you are seeing the “real” Hawaii. Plus the huge living area is filled with natural light with large screened sliding doors giving you all the enjoyment of outdoor living without the bugs. The structure is not only comfortable, beautiful, and well appointed, but there are wonderful hidden gems everywhere– like the distinctive needlework of Sumba textiles, or the elegant reclining stone bodhisattva in the bathroom, which, like the bathroom, also looks out on a spectacular view of the lake, to the base of the dining room table which has been made from a massive tree trunk with its roots smoothed out to support the weight of the tabletop, to the large cheerful Balinese paintings of tropical plants. This place has loads of charm, and is very private. The photos on the site give you a good idea of the main rooms. It is unique, and spacious; it is stylish, modern, and artsy– everything you might want in a Hawaiian get-away or retreat.
We felt instantly at home. There are also several attached and covered porches for relaxing, eating and daydreaming, which we took full advantage of. I am an avid cook, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need PLUS there is a grill, with a view of the one hole golf course right on the lawn!
Grounds:
The house is surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens, and from every room on the East side of the house you look across the property to the picturesque lake filled with bird life. Fruit trees line the drive to the house with not only the requisite oranges and other citrus trees but also star fruit, rambutan, and mango trees. In December the star fruit is truly amazing.
The lovely stone lined salt water pool and hot tub are a short walk down a rustic path bordered by a rushing stream. At night, lit by only the moon and stars above, I could almost imagine I was stepping into another world.
Location:
I have only stayed in Poipu on previous trips to Kauai, but this vacation changed my mind forever. The North side of the island is lush and peaceful and we found everything we needed in the nearby towns of Kilauea and Princeville (just a few miles down the road). The house is also located in a wildlife refuge so it is akin to living in a well groomed park. It really did feel like we were trusted guests with the run of the place free of other tourists and the trappings of a resort vacation.
Host:
Steve was so incredibly helpful, friendly, and amiable as well as very communicative. His suggestions for local shops and restaurants were extremely helpful and he had a genuine concern about our well being. All these factors made our experience truly exceptional. The house has everything you might need, and Steve very generously lent us a couple of extra snorkel gear bags so that everyone in our party could take advantage of the amazing reef-life close by at Anini Beach where you can swim with the sea turtles. Five stars - both for the turtles and Steve!
