In the morning shadow of the legendary Sleeping Giant Mountain, amidst rainbows and waterfalls in the pastoral Wailua Valley, this private country home offers the feel of old Hawaii with a mix of modern. It's central location is perfect for exploring the spectacular garden isle of Kauai.

Within a 10 minute drive you can hit the beach, catch a wave, kayak a tropical river, hike the rainforest, climb a mountain, explore historic sites, water ski, hit a golf ball, bird watch, play tennis, horseback ride, mountain bike... whew! Or just relax and sleep late and awake to a symphony of birds in a lush tropical setting at the Sleeping Giant Cottage.

The vehicle seats five, and while the rooftop tent sleeps two comfortably (three with a small child), we include a ground tent that fits two to three more guests. And no, we don’t charge extra for additional people!

For Check In: We can have the vehicle ready for you at the airport area by 1:00 on your arrival date, we will need the vehicle back by 11:00 on your departure day. For check in, we offer free airport pickup if you're ready to be picked up at or before 7pm. If you arrive later, you would need to Uber/taxi to our staging area a couple miles from the airport.

For Check out: We offer free airport drop offs between 8am-3pm. If you need to get to the airport before or after that timeframe, you would need to uber/taxi to the airport from the check out location after dropping off the car there, or we allow you to drive to the airport and leave the car there for a $45 fee.

As you browse through the pictures of this enchanting oceanfront property, we hope you will perceive, and feel as we do, that Kapa'a Sands is indeed a very unique and special place to stay when you visit the Garden Isle. The lush tropical ambiance and tranquil setting of this delightful ground-floor studio are simply unsurpassed anywhere on Kauai. The ocean view from inside and on your lanai is simply magnificent. Having a full kitchen including a dishwasher is unique in itself in any ocean view studio on Kaua'i and is indeed ideal for longer stays. Nestled in a private cove near Kapa'a town with its own beach, K Sands, as it is known by its many repeat guests, is said to have both a mystical and magical charm. At night, you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the surf as the trade winds often softly blow in and on many mornings, the sun, like a giant orange beach ball, rises up on the horizon out of a thousand miles of open ocean.

Kapaa Sands beach in front is swimmable but always use caution at any beach current waves are visible. For shops and restaurants, there's a lot around that area that's just a walking distance like a 10-minute walk from the property. If you walk along the wall path there will also be a Lava Lava restaurant and the Coconut Marketplace.

- "No questions we every much enjoyed our stay. Super location directly at beachfront and direct access to beach." - "The property is stunning and you can walk out to a private beach. The photos don’t do it justice. The property manager was very communicative and may the stay enjoyable. Only issues during our stay were the ceiling fan appeared to be not working 100% and spun very slow so the fact that there is no AC in the unit made it at times very stuffy in the room even with all the windows open there was no circulation. Also in the kitchen there were a few small nat sized bugs on the counter throughout our stay but didn’t bother us at all. We would definitely stay here again but a window AC unit would’ve made the stay that much better. Also getting woken up around 5:22am every morning to the rooster was a bummer but merely encouraged us to get up and enjoy the fact we were in Kauai! :)"

- "We really enjoyed our stay. The property was exactly as described, when we entered we were greeted with beautiful fresh tropical flowers and lovely Hawaiian treats. The ground floor unit has a walk out lanai where you can have your feet in the sand in seconds, and a nice foot bath to wash the sand off your feet was a great touch. The studio condo is nicely decorated with a tropical flair. There is air conditioning, which we didn’t use, but many like having it as an option. There were chairs, umbrella, cooler and boogie boards to use which was great to have available. There is a nice pool area and the grounds are beautiful. The check in process was very easy and communication with Lupe, the owner, was excellent! The location is great near Kapaa town with plenty of restaurants and shops. This area of the island allows for easy access to many activities on the island. Eating on the beach at Lava Lava Beach club a few steps away was fun, with live music and great food, and best of all, no driving, just a quick walk along the beach. Thanks Lupe for sharing your piece of paradise with us!"

We are on the edge of "Old Town" Kapaa, an easy walk to restaurants, cute shops, and the best shave ice on Kauai! Our condo comes with a gorgeous ocean view, my own fresh orchids, refreshing trade wind breezes, and beautiful sunrises. Relax on the lanai, or walk a few steps to swim or snorkel, or wander on our famous coastal path! You can spend more, but you can’t get much closer to the beach! Hawaii taxes are included in the price!

The space
The condo is all yours, with plenty of closet and dresser space. The kitchen is set up for people who want to do their own cooking, with pots & pans, dishes, microwave, etc... Even a dishwasher. If you don't feel like cooking, visit the Olympic Cafe or Sam’s Ocean View, both are a short walk away. The Murphy bed in the living room is so comfortable! And Wifi is included, so you can stay connected (if you want to!). Decor is "Understated Tropical"; you know you're in Hawaii, but we don't overdo it! Resort fees and taxes are already figured into the price. Cleaning fee is separate.

All of the condo is yours!
Along with the condo, you are entitled to all of the amenities at the resort. There is a pool and hot tub, a tennis court, and you can even play croquet or shuffleboard. There is a gym as well. We keep some snorkel equipment at the condo, and you are welcome to give it a try. There are also beach chairs and towels. No umbrella, though. Those are a nightmare waiting to happen!There is a small equipment rental place at the lobby area, in case you want a different sort of mask, or maybe you'd like to rent a surfboard? The concierge would happily help you with arrangements for other island activities. Shared washers and dryers (of the coin-operated variety) are in a little annex along the outside walkway in front of the 1st floor rooms.

Other things to note
Parking is right behind the condo (or in front?), at any rate it is along the side of the condo that faces AWAY from the beach. This condo is on the first floor, so no stairs! Only a few steps from your parking space to your front door.

If you want to explore on foot, this is the place for you, as you're only a mile from top-notch beaches like Lydgate Beach Park, and Wailua Beach, as well as outdoor attractions like the Sleeping Giant trailhead, and kayaking or canoeing along the Wailua River. If you're looking to immerse yourself in some traditional Hawaiian culture, you're also in walking distance of Smith's Garden Luau, rated the best luau on the island. For an even shorter trek, there's an abundance of shops and restaurants just 5 minutes from your front door along Papaloa Rd, and in the Kinipopo shopping village and Coconut Marketplace. Check out the farmers market every Wednesday afternoon for the largest selection of locally grown produce on the island, and the Old Kapa'a Art Walk the first Saturday evening of every month for artisanal jewelry, clothing, art, and more! The Tenant affirms they will follow all policies and rules of the resort, as notified upon arrival and occupancy of the unit, including check-out time, as many resorts assess a fee for late check-out.
• The Tenant accepts all responsibilities for any damages to the unit or Resort property during the rental period by Tenant or Tenant's guests.
• The Tenant hereby indemnifies and holds the Owner harmless against any and all claims of personal health/sickness, injury or property damage or loss of any kind arising from use of the Resort regardless of the nature of the accident, injury or loss.

I have been an owner of Shell Vacations timeshare properties for years. This is a fully transferrable timeshare unit - so the reservation is booked under the name of the main individual checking in. Check-in is much like the experience at a hotel.
