- "This lovely hotel is nicely situated right on beach, with large waterfront pool and hot tub, as well as a lovely ocean/pooside resraurant open from breakfast til 9pm. The free self parking is right beside hotel and never had trouble finding a spot. All staff we met were friendly and helpful. Of note, the luau held on property is held in open view of hotel and beach guests when not raining so guests get free show if interested. There is a watersport rental near beach that offers surfing lessons and the waves break close to the nice sandy beach. Beds very comfy and resort clean. Would highly recommend. "

This spacious house was designed and built in 2013 to be the perfect vacation retreat - its plantation style allows it to blend in with the historic neighborhood, while offering every modern luxury. Outside is a barbeque grilling area, a garden shower accessible from either the master bath or from outside, and under the Plumeria Tree is a landscaped 5 person hot springs style hot tub. Enjoy the 2 master, air conditioned, suites with plush king beds, flat screen TVs, pedestal tub, and outdoor garden shower, and full size front load washer and dryer. The open plan great room opens up to the large lanai with 22 feet of 8' high folding doors, and the 9 1/2 foot high walls, vaulted ceilings, large double hung windows, and ceiling fans keep the place breezy and cool. Both bedrooms are air conditioned to keep you comfortable all night long. The kitchen is equipped with a full sized french door refrigerator, whisper quiet dishwasher, gas range, walk-in pantry, granite counters, open shelving, and fully stocked. For some reason, the photos make it appear more expansive. It was still amazing and perhaps even more so because of the coziness. That being said, we hosted the rest of the family one night for our turn at dinner, and accommodated an additional six for those few hours incredibly comfortably. The location itself was perfection for us and we will be back. Those just a little familiar with ocean swimming or less should avoid Brennecke’s beach. The current is very strong and there are a lot of rocks. Great for watching sea turtles swim in the surf, for hours. Poipu Beach which is pretty much adjacent, he’s better protected swimming waters and lifeguards. I’m a big guy, so added a heavy weight chair to the well stocked collection of beach assets. (For those wanting a peaceful, idyllic beach experience, drive the hour to Anini Beach!) The bed was very comfortable. The ease of access to the outdoor shower was incredible. Don’t be surprised if a gecko joins you. We pulled all the outdoor shades and kept the exterior and interior fans running with the easy to use retractable glass doors when we were home and found only the late afternoon to be on the warm side. The AC unit in the bedroom gets the room cool and keeps it that way overnight quite nicely. For any Saturday, it’s really best to just plan on being away from the house much of the day. The landscaper comes in the morning and spends a lot of time at each of the properties he’s servicing. It is incredibly manicured and well kept because of his time, but probably best to avoid the accompanying noise. Communication was superb and we will be back in a couple years."

If you snorkel, the reef on the West side of Kiahuna Beach is great, you can walk to Poipu, Lawai or Koloa Landing and jump in there and be inside an aquarium. Kiahuna also has fun surf (shore-pound) for body boarding and swimming. You can rent day beads at the Sheraton. At low tide you can walk across the street and check out incredible tidepools (bring your reef shoes). Townhouse itself is in a great little community with a pool, BBQs greenbelts, etc. Rental is stuffed with useful stuff (Beach Towels, Body Wash, Paper products) and we really didnt need much of anything. I bought some Charmin Ultra soft, but i am a TP diva. The views here are perhaps better than the photos. The AC works well. Be sure you follow the directions for the climate control system. They werent set correctly when we arrived and the first few days the temps were wildly inconsistent and likely used more energy than was necessary. Hosts were friendly and helpful at every level. The only small negatives were community related. We had to move our car due to sealing the parking lot, our next door neighbors had a flood of some kind and they had to check our our place and the hoa had to gain access to spray for bugs (in hawaii this is a good thing trust me). I would feel really lucky to be able to rent this place in the future. Thanks!"

If you don't like cats, then our home may not be a good fit for you. They have been our Ho'ona road cats for 10 years. Like it or not you are their family and they feel safe at our home. - "Overall we had a nice stay here. The condo is extremely spacious and decorated very well with beautiful artifacts and art pieces - you can tell the owners decorated it and stay here. You can watch sea turtles swimming from the second floor balcony which our kids loved. Beds are large and comfortable. There is a street between you and the ocean but traffic is relatively light. The resort grounds are well manicured and pretty. The only two real negatives were synthetic sheets and a considerable odor of what we think was pet urine downstairs. We also didn’t like the south shore of Kauai (we enjoyed the north shore much more), but that’s not a knock on the condo at all and is just our location preference. If you want to be on the south shore, this would be a good place to be based."

Once reservations are confirmed, you will be asked for the name and address of the main guest who will check in (the resort's front desk will also ask for this information when you check in but obtaining this information before hand will expedite the check in process) along with an email address to receive a personal confirmation.

Inter-Island Travel

Travelers can visit Kauai if they are coming from O’ahu, Maui, or the Big Island. This includes mainland travelers, provided they:

1. Have been in the state of Hawai’i for 72 hours or more; and

2. Have taken a pre-travel test from one of the State of Hawai’i’s Trusted Testing Partners within 72 hours of arriving on Kaua’i.

Transpacific Travel

Visitors from out of state now have the option of a shortened three-day quarantine period. To qualify, visitors must:

1. Take a pre-travel test within 72 hours before arriving on Kaua’I and receive a negative test result;

2. Make a reservation at an approved Enhanced Movement Quarantine (EMQ) or “resort bubble” hotel on Kaua’I; and

3. After 72 hours on Kauai, take a post-travel test and receive a negative test result.
