Also nearby are both Anchor Cove and the Harbor Mall for more dining options and tons of shopping and activity services. Safeway and Costco are approximately 3 miles away for days you want to shop and cook at home.

Lihue is our central seat of government with State and County buildings along historic Rice St Wilcox Hospital, Kukui Grove mall, Kauai Museum, Grove Farm Museum, Puakea Golf Course, Kauai Community College and many local businesses and eateries. Don't miss Kauai Beer Company or Kauai Pasta on Rice Street or Verde and Kenji Burger at the Hokulei Shopping Village. Oh and Robs Good Times Grill at Rice Shopping Center is GREAT for lunch also, large menu in a sports bar style atmosphere.

If a Luau is calling you visit Kilohana Plantation for their Kalamaku Luau, quite a show only 3 miles away! Kilohana Plantation also hosts Koloa Rum Company's tasting room and store, and tours of the historic grounds. Very cool!

Nawiliwili Harbor is close by for Cruise Ship and container arrivals and Huleia River is steps down the road for kayaking or fishing tours or the Menehune Fish Pond Overlook. Nawiliwili harbor can sometimes a bit noisy during the day as ships arrive but we have had very few complaints about that. Hulemalu Rd. also functions as a bypass road for locals going to and from work daily, usually 6-8 am and 3-5 pm are higher traffic times.

Kauai Beach Resort is a 4 Star Hotel property located on the Ocean. My unit is a privately owned room with great views. The view is of the swimming pools and the Pacific Ocean beyond.

The amenities at this Boutique Resort include multiple large swimming pools and jacuzzis, water slide, pool side snack bar, a sandy bottom swimming pool, as well as easy walking access to, and along, the Pacific Ocean, with a sandy beach. That's on the outside. Inside you will find a Relaxing Lobby, a 24/7 Fitness Center, a Computer Business Center, a Gift Shop, An Evening Bar/Lounge and a Full Restaurant. All Hotel amenities are yours to enjoy, Except for the Hawaiian Cultural Activities, which include Hula Lessons and Lei Making Classes and the Resort's Shuttle Service (those are excluded because you are Not renting directly through the main Management Operation, but privately through me).

This Resort is perfectly located about 10 minutes away from the Airport, which is far enough away, so that there are no noise issues. You should arrange to rent a car in advance, to explore the Island, as this Resort is not immediately adjacent to lots of shopping and dining. By booking a rental car in advance, you can get the car at, or near, the Airport as soon as you have landed. From this Resort, it is a 10 minute drive in either direction (North or South) to get you to major shopping and dining areas. You need to go sight seeing and hiking and exploring and you do need a vehicle for that. Be prepared to get dirty when hiking and exploring (we have red dirt here), and your shoes and clothes will retain the dirt stains, even after you wash them. There are exterior showers that you will want to use that are located near the Beach and near one of the jacuzzis. There is a coin operated laundry in Building #1 and the prices vary, but assume about $3.00 per wash and $3.00 per dry. There is complimentary laundry detergent in this room for your use.

There are multiple Golf Courses on Kauai, if you are a Golfer. Immediately adjacent to this Kauai Beach Resort is the County of Kauai Golf Course. It is way less expensive than any of the other golf courses, and it is very close by. It is an Ocean Front Golf Course that is enjoyed by many. Go check it out !!

This Room has just been upgraded as of January 2021, with new additions/upgrades on an ongoing basis every year since then. New paint, new carpet, new furniture, new 4.4 cubic foot refrigerator, new smart big screen television, etc. It is more upgraded than most of the other rooms in this development. There is also: Keurig Coffee Maker, picnic cooler, beach chairs and other amenities like that. These Rooms, DO NOT have Kitchens and due to Fire Ordinances, cooking is NOT allowed in the units. There is a microwave in the Lounge area of the 5th floor, just adjacent to the Elevator.

There is No Smoking allowed anywhere within the rooms or within the Hotel. There are large financial penalties for smoking within the Hotel. These charges can be at least $500. There are designated smoking areas on the outside grounds, located around the Resort.
No Pets are allowed except for service animals.

Because you are renting a private room, maids Will Not be servicing your room on a daily basis. There are plenty of linens and supplies to last you for your entire stay, located within the room. If you are booking for at least 7 days, there is a complimentary mid-week linen change that is at no cost to you.

Upon check-in at the Front Desk you will need to present your confirmation number, your last name, your ID and your credit/debit card. I will have sent you your confirmation number prior to your arrival. They will charge your card with a deposit fee, which is fully refunded upon your check-out, so long as you have not made any Resort charges. Resort charges are for items that you purchase at the Resort, like meals delivered to your room. You will also be charged $40 per day for the self parking and/or the valet parking. This is a charge that they charge to all Guests. You will be provided with a room entry card for each person that is checking in.

There are a couple of Hawaii State taxes that are added to your daily rate and they are collected when you book. The amount of these taxes are currently a little less than 18%.

There is free Wi-Fi in your room, at the Swimming Pool and in the Lobby. To gain access to the Wi-Fi, you will be asked to enter your Last name and your room number, being 2442. You will then be connected to free Wi-Fi.

There are Pool Towels located within the room, in one of the dresser drawers. The Resort has these "Blue" towels, to distinguish them from the normal bath towels. Please return them to the room, whenever you use them. The Resort has a $25 per pool towel charge for any that need to be replaced. They are not worth $25 each, but that is the Resort Policy. So, please, remember to return them to your room.

This Kauai Beach Resort room is number 2442. You take the main elevator that is adjacent to the Lounge, called "Shutters". Take the elevator to the fourth floor. (There are 5 floors in this building #2.) At the fourth floor, take two quick left turns and down the hallway to #2442, which is on your left. This room overlooks the swimming pools, and the Pacific Ocean beyond that. See the pictures here at VRBO for the exact view you will have while staying here.

The walk along this Beach is about 3 miles long and is quite scenic. Most of the Beach is not swimmable, due to coral and lava. However, there are a couple of locations that are swimmable and a lot of the time there are places for small children to enjoy that are in small tide-pool type locations. Parental supervision is always a must !!

If you are going to go swimming at any Beach on Kauai, you should be very cautious. Being an Island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Kauai has slow moving rip tides that can take you away from the island easily. You may not even notice it, until you are in trouble. ALWAYS REMEMBER, that if you get caught in one of these rip tides, YOU DO NOT want to swim into shore against that tide. It will slowly wear you out. YOU MUST swim parallel to the shore for a little while, to get out of the rip tide and then swim towards the shore. If you feel that you are not getting any closer to the shore, then you still may be in the rip tide. Swim parallel to the shore a little more and then try again to swim back to the shore line. NO MATTER WHAT, stay calm !!! Getting caught in these rip tides has happened to me before, on numerous occasions, because I am a beach and ocean lover. So, remember the above, to keep yourself safe. Another beach tip, is to go to the beaches where there are lots of people. If there are lots of people there, then they are probably there because it is a little safer than other areas. Of course, we all want to have our privacy, so we may seek out beaches with no one around. BE SMART, there is probably a reason that no one is around that beach !! If you go there, stay out of the ocean, and just enjoy the sandy beach. Better to Be Safe, than to be Very Sorry.

There are so many wonderful things to do on Kauai, that I could list many of these things for you to do. But I am not going to. You have probably already been doing this research for your upcoming trip. Do all of the research that you are comfortable with. MY ADVICE = Just get to Kauai and explore everywhere that you can. It would probably be more fun and exciting to "Just Do It".

Our second home is located 100 feet above the Pacific Ocean, with mountain views across the bay, and two ocean front golf holes of the 18 hole Jack Nicklaus, now called Hokuala, golf course in front of you. Even the back door has a great view of the 38 acre Kauai Lagoons with manicured grounds and secluded walking trails. Our home is called 'Pukalani' which is Hawaiian for 'Heaven's Door.' The minute you walk through the door, you will see 'Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away'. You will know you are in paradise. Kauai has many fun activities, but you will find it hard to leave the beauty and amenities of Pukalani. Our condo is the perfect place to stay if you are attending a meeting or event at the Marriott Kauai Beach Club. We are just a short walk or shorter drive to the Marriott Hotel. Why stay in a hotel room when you can be staying in a new two bedroom condo with a gourmet kitchen and breath taking views.
This is the only villa at the Marriott Grand Residence at Kauai Lagoons offered for rental. Our rental fee is a great bargain compared to renting a hotel room, so book early to guarantee a reservation and your perfect dream vacation.

- "The condo and views are as exactly as advertised and our family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Ron's place was spotless, comfortable and included all the "extra's" one typically needs to stock up on when renting. The location is just around the corner from the airport (but not noisy) and convenient to shopping (Target, Costco), restaurants, and beaches. It is also a good central place to easily get to many popular activities and explore the entire island from. We enjoyed spending time on the lanai and were lucky one day to see a full rainbow after a short rain. We enjoyed watching airplanes and even a cruise ship right from the lanai. We made daily use of the on-site gym, pool, and walking trails around the beautiful grounds and golf course. Running Waters Beach is directly below the unit and across the golf course. It is a short walk to get to and a bit of a steep hill to go down but an awesome place for pictures. I wouldn't recommend swimming there because it's quite rough. We had a couple questions before our stay and Ron responded quickly. We hope to return someday and highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Kauai!"

It’s very centrally located on Kauai close to everything yet quiet and away from any hustle and bustle having two bathrooms is a bonus. The lanai is a wonderful place to have breakfast and cocktails. The only thing I would change is to air condition the whole living space. Having the bedroom air-conditioned helps, but it was still pretty hot in the living room area. In August, the beach area is not really swimmable, but still a great place to hang out. Being able to use the resort facilities, right next-door is quite a bonus loved it! Will definitely try to come back to the property, if not the same unit."

Besides the view and the location, the VRBO itself is very nice - plenty of room for 4 with a nice primary suite (bathroom attached) for 2 and then another room with two smaller beds for another 2 people, there is also a futon in the living room. There is a washer and dryer in the unit if you need to do laundry too. Parking and entry/exit of the VRBO is very easy. Lastly, we arrived 24 hours late to our stay due to an issue with flights, but the host tried to do everything possible to make our stay as enjoyable as possible which we very much appreciated. Overall, this is a fantastic place to stay. We recommend it to anyone and hope to be back in the future."

FAQs - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THIS CONDO OR A HOTEL ROOM?
Both. The resort was previously a Hilton hotel, the units are just like hotel rooms. However, they are privately owned “condotels”. The resort operates much like a hotel, and most guests are not aware that the units are privately owned. Most of the units are offered to the public through the resort or through travel sites at much higher retail prices. Although, a few are offered on VRBO at owner rates with access to the resort’s amenities.

WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN RENTING ON VRBO vs. THE RESORT
The $$$ price and also maid service. Renting direct through VRBO saves you a lot of money. However, daily maid service is not included. The cleaning fee you pay when booking takes care of cleaning and restocking the unit after your stay.

DOES THE UNIT HAVE A KITCHEN?
No. They do not have kitchens they were previously hotel rooms.

ARE WE ABLE TO COOK IN THE UNIT?
No. Local fire ordinances do not allow cooking in any of the rooms. The resort has a microwave in the lounge area on the 5th floor of Building 2 that can be used by all guests.
WHAT IS THE RESORT’S BEACH LIKE?
The resort is located on a 3-mile stretch of beautiful beach, amazing for long walks. The beach is very scenic but, is not considered a swimmable beach as it has a decent amount of coral. The surf is also unpredictable. It's best is to go to some of Kauai's many famous beaches for swimming. Lydgate Beach park is a nearby beach that is good for swimming.

SHOULD I GET A CAR?
We recommend that you have a rental car. The resort has most everything you need to have a wonderful time and relax. A car will allow you to experience many popular attractions, buying groceries, and going to many amazing restaurants etc. If you want a car for a day or two there is an on-site Hertz car rental agency. The rates are higher but it is an option for a short rental.

IS THERE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM THE AIRPORT?
No. The shuttle service from the airport is not available to our guests. The resort does offer free shuttle service to/from the airport for guests who book through the resort. Kauai Beach Resort is close the airport which make taxi prices more reasonable. Uber also operates on the island!

ARE THERE BEACH TOWELS TO TAKE TO THE BEACH?
Your stay includes 4 pool/beach towels.

DOES THE RESORT CHARGE A RESORT FEE?

- "We had a great stay in a VRBO rental timeshare hotel room from Jan 28-31, 2024. We were assigned a great 8th floor room with a view over the pool, beach, and bay. Gorgeous! The room was like a standard king sized room. We had access to the whole facility. Also, free parking in the guest lot right next to the main hotel entrance (short walk of about 2 min to the car from front entrance). Highly recommend this property! Note, there was some minor remodeling going on but I didn't hear any disrupting construction noise, not even once."

Other things to note
Please note that as this property is located cliffside on the oceanfront it requires use of stairs to access the home. In order to access Kalapaki Beach and the nearby resorts take the sidewalk past the front gate and look for the elevator down the path to your left.

Please use electricity and water responsibly and be sure to turn off the AC while you are away from the home. The weather in Kauai is mild and beautiful year round and the home is equipped with an excellent AC system that will immediately cool to your liking when turned on, however, if left on unnecessarily while you are away the electricity cost is substantial. Street-side parking for one vehicle is available for guest stays directly in front of the home. Additional parking is available across from the home in the shoreline access parking area. In order to access the drive aisle in front of the home enter through the gate on the righthand side of the street as you approach the top of the hill.

- "The Cliff side property views look over the Nawilliwilli Bay, Kalapaki Beach in front of the Marriot Hotel/Royal Sonesta Resort, and acros the bay from a cruise ship and shipping terminal. The nighttime views are lovely as well.The property was clean, and as represented for the most part. This is the lower level of a 3 level property, which does get rented as individual units as well as altogether, and as such, some of the beach accoutrements can and do get switched around.The pictures clearly and purposefully showed beach chairs, which were not in the lower property for our stay. When we contacted the host, they contacted the local Management team, who went out and purchased 2 beach chairs for us to use during our stay - wonderful costumer/guest service!Access to the property is down a concrete stairway on the left side of the property, and the lighting at night is “not” very good, but with our trusty flashlight (on our phone), we accessed the property after dark during our checkin without issue.The interior amenities were clean and well kept. The kitchen has clearly been updated recently, but the majority of the property shows its age. Everything was very comfortable in the living room and the bedrooms.Cooking in the kitchen was easy, and offered a decent amount of cookware options. We found the microwave dead-on-arrival, but the host & local management brought a new unit that day!Split unit AC in both bedrooms and living room offered wonderful comfort.Enjoy!"

The 2nd bedroom and full bath can be “locked-off” with its own separate entrance.

Each ocean view balcony includes patio furniture. The gourmet kitchenette offers a dining table/chairs, mini-refrigerator, sink, microwave, cook top, dishwasher, toaster, coffeemaker, cookware, dishes, utensils and stemware. (note: there are mini-refrigerators in each bedroom as well.)

Guests have full access and complete privacy inside the home and may enjoy full use of outdoor amenities as well. When checking out, please be sure all windows and doors are locked prior to your departure.

Please note that as this property is located cliffside on the oceanfront, and is the main level unit. Downstairs unit is also a short term rental. In order to access Kalapaki Beach and the nearby resorts, take the sidewalk past the front gate and look for the elevator down the path to your left.

Please use electricity and water responsibly and be sure to turn off the AC while you are away from the home. The weather in Kauai is mild and beautiful year round and the home is equipped with an excellent AC system that will immediately cool to your liking when turned on, however, if left on unnecessarily while you are away the electricity cost is substantial. Street-side parking for one vehicle is available for guest stays directly in front of the home. Additional parking is available across from the home in the shoreline access parking area. In order to access the drive aisle in front of the home enter through the gate on the right hand side of the street as you approach the top of the hill.

Safeway and Costco are approximately 3 miles away for days you want to shop and cook at home.

Lihue is our central seat of government with State and County buildings along historic Rice St., Wilcox Hospital, Kukui Grove mall, Kauai Museum, Grove Farm Museum, Puakea Golf Course, Kauai Community College and many local businesses and eateries. Don't miss Kauai Beer Company or Kauai Pasta on Rice Street or Verde and Kenji Burger at the Hokulei Shopping Village. Oh and Robs Good Times Grill at Rice Shopping Center is GREAT for lunch also, large menu in a sports bar style atmosphere.

If a Luau is calling you visit Kilohana Plantation for their Kalamaku Luau, quite a show only 3 miles away! Kilohana Plantation also hosts Koloa Rum Company's tasting room and store, and tours of the historic grounds. Very cool!

Nawiliwili Harbor is close by for Cruise Ship and container arrivals and Huleia River is steps down the road for kayaking or fishing tours or the Menehune Fish Pond Overlook. Nawiliwili harbor can sometimes a bit noisy during the day as ships arrive but we have had very few complaints about that. Hulemalu Rd. also functions as a bypass road for locals going to and from work daily, usually 6-8 am and 3-5 pm are higher traffic times.

Ice machine and microwave are at 5th floor lounge. Cooler and ice packs provided.

• What's the difference between my suite, renting directly from the resort, or some other travel agency or website?
The difference is price, amenities, housekeeping, and choice of room. My suite is quite a bit less expensive overall and Amenity differences (subject to change):
-no maid service for stays of 7 nights or less unless you request it for an additional fee. For stays of 8 nights or more, I will provide a free mid-stay cleaning which will give you fresh sheets and towels.
-I do not charge a daily resort or amenity fee...a savings of $25/day
-the resort fee gives other guests the following extras (subject to change): newspaper, DVDs, PlayStation, and yoga classes. My guests can still use the pools, spa, restaurants, bar, room service, shops, business center, fitness center, car rental, and laundry room. Plus, my guests have to pay to rent DVDs.
-I do not increase my room charge for more than 2 guests...others charge $40 per person
-parking is $31/day plus tax. All guests pay for parking.

For short stays, you may want to keep it simple and stay at the resort enjoying the restaurants and bar, walks along the beach, tennis, spa, or one of the pools. For longer stays, booking a rental car ahead of time and picking it up at the airport makes sense. With a long term car rental to explore all over, there is an additional parking charge. Car rental rates vary depending on where you rent, so shop around. This great mid-island location puts you less than a hour away from the tourist activities on the north shore and south shore
