The location is convenient, as access to freeways, stores, parks, and more are nearby. Gigi is a great host and had the a/c and porch light on for our arrival. Communication was awesome and we felt like honored guests. They have such wonderful accommodations for a family (especially the laundry room downstairs!). I loved the access to a coffee pot and Keurig, an electric water kettle, and water purifier in the fridge. We appreciated the access to a fan, and toiletry supplies (even q-tips and cotton balls!). Gigi clearly wants guests to be well cared for and comfortable. Gigi will be my #1 choice if we're ever back in Bakersfield."

This space is a little over 1000 sqft, has 2 bedrooms, and one large bathroom. The entire place including the back yard has been nearly completed remodeled and renovated with the newest equipment and top of the line appliances. Furnishings are airy/mid-century with a modern and chic twist.
Two parking spaces are available directly in front of the house along the street. A short walkway will bring you to the front of the house with a few steps up to the door and digital key-pad access.

This apartment is spaciously away from all the downtown activities, but close enough to walk if you are up for it. We walk it often and appreciate being far enough away to get there, but away from the activity when we want to keep our distance. The bar and restaurant scene is our opinion the best in town, changing and growing all the time. This apartment was built in 1922. There have been some modification to the floor plan, but it still functions very well and it has been updated to include all necessary functionality. The oak flooring is original. The kitchen has granite and all the bells and whistles. It even has a bidet. This apartment is situated so there is access to the deck with a firepit, outside TV, comfortable seating, and even a putting green if you feel like moving around a bit. We offer one private bedroom with door that closes. The other bed is in the sunroom and is open to the kitchen. There is a sleep sofa in the living room. The bathroom has an old claw foot tub what is a great soak, as well as shower.

The whole front half of the house is usually unused by me. This includes; living room, dinning room, your room and bath room. As a guest you will have access to laundry room and kitchen as well as the outdoor yard areas.
During your stay
I am open for socializing. I work from home the later half of the week. I spend a lot if time in my studio or outside.
Other things to note
It is my sincere hope that you will feel safe, comfortable and at home here.
I generally keep to the back half of the house, though occasionally I’ll use the dining room and living room. I work a lot, but when I am home I often am working on projects for the house or my art.
To help make your stay here easy here are some guidelines:
I provide toilet paper so should you run low let me know.
AC/Heat this is on a set schedule, if it is too hot or cold for you please let me know and I’ll adjust. The house itself is well insulated and holds it temperature well. If it is nice outside I like to open the house up and let the fresh air in.
In the winter the thermostat is set at:

Kitchen:
Fridge: I reserve a shelf in the fridge for you if you do not have enough room in your room fridge.
You are welcome to use the appliances, dishes, silverware, pots and pans etc. My only request is that you clean up after yourself. Wipe down the counters and stove top.
Dishwasher: I rarely use this. I usually wash by hand as I go. You may use it, just communicate whether they are clean or dirty.
Trash: The trash goes out to the curb on Tuesday nights, so if you have any trash that needs to be taken out you can put it in the kitchen trash can or set it beside it and I’ll take it out before bed. If you prefer you may take it to the brown trash can in the back yard.
Recycle: I do recycle. In the kitchen are binds for plastics and aluminum, glass and paper. Please just put your recyclables in one of the bins.
Laundry: I typically do my laundry on Sun/Monday. There is laundry soap, fabric softener and fabric sheets available in the laundry room. If you are a long term guest (1 week or more) you can wash your sheets and towels (there is a spare set in the dresser in your room) and towels when you feel the need to, as well as your clothes.
Cleanliness: I am not a neat freak, (long term guests) but it is appreciated if you to keep things around the house clean, including your bathroom. There are cleaning supplies under the cabinet for your convenience.
Alarm: Should you want to use it if I am not home I will give you a code.
Should anything break or need repair please let me know immediately so that I may tend to it.

Smoking, vaping, or use of any substance that is illegal inside the house is STRICTLY prohibited. All smoking shall be done only outside the house and or the patio area only.

This Airbnb home is located on a quiet cul-de-sac street in an older part of Bakersfield CA. There are two separate houses on this lot and the Airbnb house is the front house. It is completely separate from the back house. The hosts live in the back house and are available for questions or concerns. There is a pool with a block wall fence on the sides. The fourth side is partly wood and part covered pool fence. The host husband skims the pool early in the morning if needed. The pool is professionally cleaned every Monday and our gardener comes on the weekend. We have umbrellas and a large patio table and lots of chairs for the guests enjoyment and use. We also have a charcoal grill for the guests use. It must be noted that we do get some pretty strong breezes and the umbrellas must be put down so they don't break. If we notice that the guests have not secured the umbrellas, we will enter the pool area to put them down. There is a trash can in pool/patio area and it is the guests responsibility to clean up after themselves and their guests. It is also the guests responsibility to be respectful of the neighborhood and the house.
