Entry Patio- Great place for the jackets, shoes, and everything else you need to be inside but not in the house!

Kitchen- Completely remodeled with new countertops, tile, appliances and more. This quaint kitchen features all new appliances including thoughtful additions of an air fryer, Keurig coffee machine, and even an Alexa Echo Dot to keep the mood nice with music in "Rosie's Kitchen". It was named after the original owner who would cook every day with the fresh vegetables right from the garden in the back yard!

Living Room- This space features newly refinished wood floors and is a nice quiet place to sit and read a book, enjoy the view from the large picturesque window, or watch something on the big screen with your HD Samsung Smart TV. Grab a magazine and enjoy your coffee.

Bathroom- This bathroom has what you'll need with a nice large mirror and vanity, and new floor and bath tile featuring a bathtub and shower. We believe in nice fluffy towels so you'll have plenty of those! Shampoo/Conditioner are provided.

Master Bed Room- The downstairs master bedroom features a queen bed, a closet with full length mirror and dresser for plenty of space for your clothes that you bring. You'll find a hamper in each room, which we find to be essential when we travel ourselves to keep your room looking tidy! A smart TV is provided in this room along with an AC unit in summertime.

Upstairs Bedrooms- The 2nd & 3rd Bedrooms features a king bed and 2 twins--so plenty of sleeping space here at the Lindan Hill House! Both rooms have closets and dresser space if needed for your belongings and clothes. Both rooms have heating elements as well as AC's in the summer months to stay cool if a heat wave comes through!

Basement- The downstairs basement is one of our favorite spots! Here is where you'll relax and get cozy on the sectional couch, watch some of your favorite content by logging into your Netflix, Amazon, or any of your apps to get some TV time (we also have Samsung TV Plus and other content available on Xfinity Flex as well on this TV.) The bar is always open to host any of your dinners (whether you are cooking or getting takeout like the infamous Terryville Pizza!) with plenty of seating for the family in our corner dining table and at the bar. The fun doesn't stop there....take out a board game, challenge all the high scores and each other on our full size PacMan Arcade system (12 different games), revisit your checkers or chess skills on the vintage game table, or take on a game of 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 with some fun at the foosball table. The losing team has to do the wash (washing machine and dryer available for use in the basement)! Still daylight left? Play some Frisbee Kan Jam outside or a game of wiffle ball…you’ll find something to do here to make a few memories!

Den- The den is located on the first floor and we have set up multiple luggage racks in this room for a quick and practical location to store all your luggage that you may be traveling with. This way you are not having to try to get them in the rooms and can keep your space open and more spacious in your three bedrooms. We can't stand when we get to a hotel and it just has one luggage stand, so we have four for your use! Also a dual purpose dining table/desk makes for a nice place for a quick email to be sent off or took for a casual breakfast or lunch spot if you don’t want to head downstairs to the larger dining table. Optionally, a pack and play is available for use in this room if you have a little (bring your own sheets).

Garage- the two car garage is locked up and not automatically part of the rental although you can request to use it during your stay, you’ll need to call or obtain a separate lock code and run over a few details prior to using it. The space can also be used, if requested and approved, for luggage holding space up to five hours before your check in time or five hours after your check out time.

Don’t forget our outside backyard featuring an oversized picnic table and two Adirondack chairs underneath the apple trees to eat, drink or hangout and enjoy the sound of quiet! That is unless there’s a gun game of wiffle ball or Kan Jam going on!

The entire house is accessible with exception of one storage closet on the main floor, one storage closet and maintenance room in the basement, and the garage (garage use can be requested by communicating with us for a special lock code). Garage can also be used for luggage hold area up to 5 hours before check in or 5 hours after checkout but this must be communicated at least 48 hours in advance.

This former tavern retains a lot of colonial-era charm and is a beautiful and peaceful place to stay. It remains a great home to entertain guests or to be by yourself to enjoy the solitude of the surrounding countryside.
The original (dating to 1770) portion of the house was completely refurbished in the Fall of 2018 with new insulation, brand new windows, and central air in the upstairs bedrooms. There is a Master Bedroom suite in the upstairs or the original portion of the house consisting of the Master bedroom with its own fireplace and a trundle bed (two twin beds) in an alcove, a bathroom, a second bedroom with a queen size bed. The living space consists of a formal living room with a fireplace, a TV area with its own fireplace, a dining room with beautiful wood panelled walls and wide plank flooring and a fireplace, and a kitchen with an eat in dining area. There is an authentic New England colonial feeling as little has been changed in the main living space (wood beams, fireplaces, etc).

Adjacent to the kitchen is a newer bedroom wing consisting of a master bedroom and bath, and two smaller single bedroom, each with private bath. There is also a powder room off the main entrance hallway. Each bedroom has its own air conditioner.

The house has two decks, one on the eastern portion of the house overlooking a private pond, and a more secluded and larger deck on the western side of the house that features gorgeous sunset views over a hayfield ridge. Smith Tavern is approximately 2900 square feet.

The house is located in the middle of a 700-acre estate which features two private lakes (one better for boating, one better for swimming). There are miles of hiking trails located in quiet forest. There is also a working farm which produces Grassfed Beef as well as naturally raised pork and poultry. For an added fee, guests can arrange some time working on the farm (contact us for details). The house is also near the well-known Litchfield Daffodils, a twelve-acre planting of narcissus which bloom each Spring and attract admirers from near and far.
We will be installing a plunge pool in April of 2019. The pool is small (7' x 13') but big enough to cool off in the summer, and will be heated so as to extend the swimming season from May through September.

We did enjoy seeing the rabbits that our neighbor put out in pens during the day. I heard dogs barking at night but I don't think that it bothered anyone else in our party. Having a full week rental was great because we had a day after everyone left to get everything cleaned up and spend a little quiet time with the young couple and the other parents before everyone headed back to their homes (and the kids on their honeymoon). John was a great host and quickly took care of any issues that we had."

- As a gesture of respect to our cleaning crew and to maintain the apartment's cleanliness, we kindly request that you adhere to our checkout instructions. Failure to do so and leaving the house excessively dirty will result in a penalty up to $500 depending on the severity rating from 1-10, determined by the host or Airbnb. This includes, but is not limited to, dirty dishes, indoor/outdoor messes, confetti or similar items, spills, pet messes (if applicable), etc.

- Smoking smell or any evidence of smoking inside the unit will incur a $350 ozone cleaning fee.

- In case you forget something and need it to be mailed, there is a $40 charge plus the cost of shipping.

- Reservation changes are subject to approval. If allowed, 50% of all adjusted/removed dates will be withheld by the host. Please note that no reservation date adjustments are allowed within 5 days of arrival.

- We may request Proof of Identification from any/all guests in the reservation at any time before or during the check-in process. If any guest(s) refuse to provide the requested identification, the entire group will not be able to stay, and you will not be entitled to a refund.

- Early check-in and late check-out must be paid for at the time they are approved. No refunds.

The property sits on 2 acres surrounded by 200 year-old oak trees and greenery. You’ll find calming views as you follow the steps down to the private entrance of your stay. Plymouth is a quiet farm town located in Litchfield County, approximately 2 hrs from NYC or Boston. It’s perfect for couples, solo travelers, outdoor enthusiasts, and traveling/remote workers.

The guest suite is a freshly renovated, open-concept space with a wood burning fireplace that we encourage our guests to use (available for use between the months of November and March). Cozy up on the sofa enjoying relaxing tunes on the record player, reading a book, or watching Netflix. Enjoy a beverage of your choice from our well-stocked kitchenette that includes a refrigerator, microwave, Keurig machine, and tea kettle. The dining area seats up to 4 guests comfortably. The sliding door opens up to a private stone patio space where you can relax while listening to up to 10 species of birds or stargaze. Guests can sleep in the bedroom and sleeper sofa that features a brand new memory foam mattress. The primary bedroom includes a dedicated workspace for remote workers. The dining space can also be used as a secondary workspace.

Note: There are several low ceiling spots throughout the space that may be uncomfortable for guests over 6ft.

Winter Disclaimer: For days with inclement weather, we recommend that you have a AWD or 4WD vehicle to safely get in and out of the driveway. We have a long pea-stone driveway that sometimes ices over when it snows making it difficult for a front wheel drive car to make it out. Entry Patio- Great place for the jackets, shoes, and everything else you need to be inside but not in the house!

Kitchen- Completely remodeled with new countertops, tile, appliances and more. This quaint kitchen features all new appliances including thoughtful additions of an air fryer, Keurig coffee machine, and even an Alexa Echo Dot to keep the mood nice with music in "Rosie's Kitchen". It was named after the original owner who would cook every day with the fresh vegetables right from the garden in the back yard!

Living Room- This space features newly refinished wood floors and is a nice quiet place to sit and read a book, enjoy the view from the large picturesque window, or watch something on the big screen with your HD Samsung Smart TV. Grab a magazine and enjoy your coffee.

Bathroom- This bathroom has what you'll need with a nice large mirror and vanity, and new floor and bath tile featuring a bathtub and shower. We believe in nice fluffy towels so you'll have plenty of those! Shampoo/Conditioner are provided.

Master Bed Room- The downstairs master bedroom features a queen bed, a closet with full length mirror and dresser for plenty of space for your clothes that you bring. You'll find a hamper in each room, which we find to be essential when we travel ourselves to keep your room looking tidy! A smart TV is provided in this room along with an AC unit in summertime.

Upstairs Bedrooms- The 2nd & 3rd Bedrooms features a king bed and 2 twins--so plenty of sleeping space here at the Lindan Hill House! Both rooms have closets and dresser space if needed for your belongings and clothes. Both rooms have heating elements as well as AC's in the summer months to stay cool if a heat wave comes through!

Basement- The downstairs basement is one of our favorite spots! Here is where you'll relax and get cozy on the sectional couch, watch some of your favorite content by logging into your Netflix, Amazon, or any of your apps to get some TV time (we also have Samsung TV Plus and other content available on Xfinity Flex as well on this TV.) The bar is always open to host any of your dinners (whether you are cooking or getting takeout like the infamous Terryville Pizza!) with plenty of seating for the family in our corner dining table and at the bar. The fun doesn't stop there....take out a board game, challenge all the high scores and each other on our full size PacMan Arcade system (12 different games), revisit your checkers or chess skills on the vintage game table, or take on a game of 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 with some fun at the foosball table. The losing team has to do the wash (washing machine and dryer available for use in the basement)! Still daylight left? Play some Frisbee Kan Jam outside or a game of wiffle ball…you’ll find something to do here to make a few memories!

Den- The den is located on the first floor and we have set up multiple luggage racks in this room for a quick and practical location to store all your luggage that you may be traveling with. This way you are not having to try to get them in the rooms and can keep your space open and more spacious in your three bedrooms. We can't stand when we get to a hotel and it just has one luggage stand, so we have four for your use! Also a dual purpose dining table/desk makes for a nice place for a quick email to be sent off or took for a casual breakfast or lunch spot if you don’t want to head downstairs to the larger dining table. Optionally, a pack and play is available for use in this room if you have a little (bring your own sheets).

Garage- the two car garage is locked up and not automatically part of the rental although you can request to use it during your stay, you’ll need to call or obtain a separate lock code and run over a few details prior to using it. The space can also be used, if requested and approved, for luggage holding space up to five hours before your check in time or five hours after your check out time.

Don’t forget our outside backyard featuring an oversized picnic table and two Adirondack chairs underneath the apple trees to eat, drink or hangout and enjoy the sound of quiet! That is unless there’s a gun game of wiffle ball or Kan Jam going on!

Our goal is for you to enjoy your stay here---and we have spent extra time and thought in all areas of the house so that you can enjoy your stay with us!

The entire house is accessible with exception of one storage closet on the main floor, one storage closet and maintenance room in the basement, and the garage (garage use can be requested by communicating with us for a special lock code). Garage can also be used for luggage hold area up to 5 hours before check in or 5 hours after checkout but this must be communicated at least 48 hours in advance.

The house has an open floor plan with a cathedral ceiling in the living area. In addition, there is a master bedroom and a second bedroom with a bunk bed with futon. So wake up to see morning lake from your bed. The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, refrigerator, microwave, air fryer, dish washer, etc. The spacious deck comfortably seats eight people under a canopy. The lake is unmotorized, so you wouldn’t be disturbed. There you can enjoy an evening dinner cooked on the large grill.
The backyard is fully fenced in making it child friendly, and perfect for lawn games. There is a brand new retaining wall providing safe ease access to the lake for swimming or boating.

Bungalow Bliss is a three-story bungalow situated on the picturesque Lakefront of Lake Plymouth. You’ll have plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the many views provided by the lake. You can enjoy yoga on the upstairs balcony or hang out in the covered sunroom during sunset. Our fire pit is located by the dock, so you can sit by the water and cozy up by the fire with a drink or tea taking in the dramatic views of the lake. Fun in the Summer, and cozy in the fall and winter.

is welcome (check flags at the beach or retention pond, these will be green for swimming). In the fall, water is lowered to protect our docks

✯ The lake was originally an Onion farm that was flooded to hold water, originally known as ‘Uncle Zac's Pond’

✯ At the turn of the century in the 1890’s it served as a recreational area for the Plume and Atwood Manufacturing company

Guest access
You will have the entire home to yourself for the duration of the stay. This includes the 2 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, Living/Dining areas, Kitchen and Zen Den, enclosed Sunroom, deck and lake access including outdoor spaces with Kayaks, Paddle boat, fire pit and dock.

* Please keep the lake clean, and clean up after you pets. Waste bags are provided.
* We ask that you abide by quiet hours, and strictly enforce our no-party rule.
* The home is on a well, as such be considerate of water use especially in times of high summer heat/drought periods. Be mindful of excessive water use, or you may run out of water for a few hours while the tanks refill
* Unless arranged for ahead of time, a late check out may incur additional fees to your stay. Please be mindful of the our housekeepers time.
* Please refer to flags at Gerson Beach to indicate water quality for swimming. At times during peak algea bloom our lake does require periodic treatment. For your safety swimming during this time is highly discouraged to prevent illness. However, you may still use Kayaks and the pedal boat. Testing is done weekly, so we cannot guarantee levels until the week of your stay. Refunds will not be provided if there is a lake closure during your stay since it is determined by the HOA for your own health and safety

The space
Welcome to The Mermaid Lake House, a charming lakefront house located on Fall Mountain Lake in Plymouth, Connecticut. This house offers stunning views of the lake from each bedroom, living room, breakfast room, deck, and backyard, providing the perfect backdrop for a relaxing and memorable getaway all year round.

The two-story house features a comfortable family room with a propane fireplace, screen-in sunroom, a pull-out sofa, plenty of sitting space, a lift top coffee table giving an extra work space, a keyboard, and lake views, a fully stocked kitchen with modern appliances, three counter chairs and a bar sink at the kitchen island, and two full bathrooms on each floor with washer/dryer in the first floor bathroom. Dining room sits eight. Breakfast glass top table sits four.

The three bedrooms are furnished with healthy firm bedding. Master bedroom on the second floor offers a king bed, vaulted ceiling features two skylight windows overlooking old trees, a second floor screen-in sunroom, a cozy work area, and a sitting area. The second bedroom offers a queen bed and lake views from both large windows. The first floor bedroom has two full beds, a sitting area, and a sliding door with access to the deck. There are three more sliding doors in the house allowing multiple access points to the backyard and stunning views of the lake. A USB type connector is available by every bedside either on a bedside table or a lamp.

The entire house is equipped with two zones of baseboard heating, installed in 2023 quiet split AC units in each bedroom and in the living room, and electric heaters in screened sunrooms to keep you comfortable no matter the season.

Outside, you'll find a spacious deck with an outdoor coffee table, dining table, sitting area, gas grill, and breathtaking views of the lake. Go find two mermaids on the upper deck! The lower deck provides access to the screened-in sunroom adjacent to a living room. At the lakefront fully fenced comfortably shady backyard, you will find portable wood fire pit with flat-top griddle, zero gravity chairs, lounge chairs, a table with two chairs by the steps accessing the lake, a hammock, and a main mermaid overlooking the lake. Sit and chill on the deck and by the lake front while enjoying the best views and all that lake life can offer.
Front and backyard are illuminated at night with solar lights. If desired, patio solar lights can be turned off with the help of a remote controller.

For water toys we have a canoe, a stand-up board, a pedal boat, as well as 2 kayaks for guests, with life-vests included!

You will also find books, board games, chess, cards, and cozy areas where you want to reconnect with the ones you love, or free, fiber high-speed internet access when you want some solo time. There are plenty of blankets for you to curl up and relax. The living room Direct TV provides a variety of channels worth browsing. Both TVs are equipped with internet for your entertainment.

There is a security camera on property, as well as front door and backyard security lights.

The fall offers beautiful foliage and winter ice-skating. The surrounding area is home to local ski mountains Ski Sundown and Mount Southington. Additional mountains under an hour away. It is the best location to enjoy what nature has to offer.

Guest access
We welcome you to enjoy our home as if it were yours! Our guests will have access to the entire home and outdoor space for the duration of the stay.

Other things to note
There is excellent Wi-Fi connection throughout the house. Cell reception can be improved by turning on Wi-Fi calling. Wi-Fi ID/password information is conveniently displayed on the built-in shelf in the living room. There is no landline available in the house.
The Mermaid Lake House is located in a private lake community with nearby neighbors, so please be respectful of noise levels early in the morning or late in the evening.

While surrounded by nature, it is typical to see small insects such as spiders, beetles, and mosquitos around. Wild life is at home at the lake. Enjoy wide variety of the birds around you outside, and mermaids in each room inside. Please also be mindful of larger animals such as hawks, bobcats, foxes, and bears when exploring the area, especially at night/early morning. Be aware of possibility of a bear checking on garbage, do not leave any outside please.

Please use the lake (swimming, kayaking, etc.) at your own risk. Life jackets should be worn and children should be supervised at all times.

Parking is available for up to four cars, and please note that supplemental street parking is not available and would block the narrow one-way street. Parties and loud noises/disturbances are not allowed.
