This contemporary and fully equipped home is modern with an open floor plan. It sits on the picturesque west shoreline of Connecticut’s Bantam Lake. The private, dead-end road hosts only 6 houses and the lot is flat with easy parking and entrance to the house and beach.

Enjoy easy first-floor living with a master bedroom, walk-in closet and master en-suite bathroom that includes a giant walk-in shower and an oversize soak tub. Also, on the first floor is a half bathroom, kitchen, dining area and spacious living room. There is also a large laundry room (handicap size doorways).

The second floor has 2 additional bedrooms: one with a queen bed, and one with a King plus a twin. There is a full bathroom, plus a cozy loft space that can be used as a kids’ room, den or an additional sleeping area (couch converts to queen bed). The views of Bantam Lake are panoramic, and the sunrise is always magnificent.

Any airy deck right off the living room offers additional al fresco dining and is a great place to relax and listen to the water lap the sandy beach just below. A short set of steps connects this with the backyard and beach area.

A fire pit, hammock, beach chairs and fishing rods are all available. Kayaks and paddle boards are available to rent from the owner. Please note there is NO dock associated with the property. We do allow the use of a strong mooring or the beach for small boats with owner concurrence.

Should Marquis be successful in re-booking the property for the original dates at the same or higher price than the original reservation, a refund less a 20% penalty, calculated as 20% on the total reservation amount, will be issued to the guest once payment is collected in full for the new reservation. The property is a restored barn and milking parlor. The original restoration was done in 1980. It underwent a most thoughtful style overhaul in 2016, with the addition of wide plank floors throughout, bead-boarding, board and batten, and lighting throughout from Remains Lighting. This attention to detail is evident in the landscaping. Native plantings and a updated pool area make this home special.

The property is near the crest of a hill, facing south with sun all day long. Looking Glass Hill is a less-travelled road, close to 202 and 5 minutes from the center of Bantam (with Arethusa, Bantam Market, antiques, a farmer's market, Bantam Lake). Cars rarely drive by and the back of the property is very private.

The house is fully insulated for year-round use and has baseboard heating throughout. Supplemental heat can provided by the living room fireplace.

The property is available year-round. We generally close the pool at the end of September. Please enquire if you have any questions regarding pool use around May or October (depending on the weather it may be possible to use. please note that HEATING COSTS FOR THE POOL ARE EXTRA).

This 7-bedroom cottage overlooks pristine Bantam Lake, with dock and kayaks. Cottage features 2 stories -- 3 bedrooms on bottom floor, 4 bedrooms on upper floor. Fully renovated with large wraparound porch, new kitchen and bathrooms, AC, Internet and smart TV. Please note there are 2 other rental cottages on property. Each has own private lakefront area. Dock and swimming raft are shared. This is a paradise for kids, with kayaks, inflatables and other water sports. Cottage is on same property as two other rental cottages, but has exclusive access to lakefront area, including picnic area with grill and fire pit. Sunrises are amazing. Please note that one or two of the other cottages may be rented at same time, but they would have separate access to adjoining dock area. (See photos). The cottages may also be rented as a package for special events. In all, there are 13 bedrooms sleeping 25 guests. Bantam Lake area is undiscovered gem, with top-quality restaurants, artisan bakeries, natural museum and 35 miles of hiking trails just minutes away. Also, best ice cream in world produced by local Arethusa Farm Dairy. As owner, I am on property most of summer. If I am not around, I have delegated hosting duties to my son Richie and a professional property manager during off-season. Bantam Lake is a conservationist’s dream. Most of lakefront is owned by White Memorial Trust, which preserves bucolic character. Even on busy holiday weekends, there are very few boats on water. Guests can park cars in parking lot near entrance. We have wagons to transport food, etc. to cottage. There are 2 other cottages on property, located in front of this cottage. The 100-foot lakefront/shoreline is divided in half, with this cottage having exclusive access to picnic tables, swimming area and dock entrance. (See photos)

We stayed in two of the houses, and the children were busy from morning till night, fishing from the dock (many were caught, but not kept), kayaking, swimming, floating around on tubes. It was very convenient to have everything on location from the time we arrived. The casual atmosphere of the cottages worked well for all the families, and the accommodations inside and outside provided plenty of space. Everyone thought the beds were very comfortable. The wifi worked well for all. The location is close to many great food options. The local towns have lots to offer, and the walking trails in the area are innumerable. This property is enjoyable year-round. There is a huge bluestone patio with stone fire pit, full gas grill, teak furniture and built in outdoor hutch with a small sink and two small refrigerators for entertaining. In summer, with the fishing rods, kayaks, a canoe and a 60+ foot dock with a large landing at the end, the property is ideal for spending your days and evenings outdoors. If you grow tired of the sun (or in the event of a shower) take shelter and possibly a nap in the shade on the porch swing. Or head to the guest house to watch movies from the extensive DVD collection, on the 70" HD screen. In the fall, you can’t beat the beauty of the New England foliage – with literally the longest view across the lake, facing White’s Woods Conservation area, the vantage point from your rocking chair on the porch is unobstructed by houses or developments. And as a winter rental, this is the best spot on the lake for ice fishing – right out the back door. Set your tip ups and watch for the flags out the picture window in the living room, by a roaring fire. With wood stoves in both houses, tons of classic games and books, wi-fi and cable TV, there is no better place to curl up and relax.

The living room has a large wood stove insert in the fireplace, TV and dining area. There is also a washer and dryer on the second floor. A large generator is connected to the main house and turns on automatically in case of any power outage (note: If necessary, an extension cord can be run from the generator to the guest house to provide electricity).

On the lower level, the fully stocked retro kitchen with vintage pine cabinetry includes a a new SS gas wall oven with separate 30" gas cooktop, 36" side by side subzero refrigerator with separate laundry room off the kitchen. A open floor plan from entry hall , opens to a Family room / Dining space with central wood burning fireplace with TV & Sound bar and a full bath with rain shower head. The Outdoor patio off the kitchen sits a picnic table that seats 8 overlooking scenic property with a new Gas grill.
The three bedrooms, Living room with desk and full bath with tub/shower are on the upper level. The living room desk allow you comfortably work remotely as needed with excellent Wi-Fi especially multiple users. In summer months we have window A/C units. For the children we offer endless books, a crib , board games and 2 large soccer goals with ball. The attached two car attached garage is not available nor is the accessory garage however the wrap around deck and adirondeck chair swings can be enjoyed by the tenants.
Looking Glass Hill is a less-travelled road, 5 minutes drive from Bantam center and Bantam Lake and near Winvian Farm, South Farms all local restaurants .

The Overlook near South Farms is a private, 1 bedroom apartment, located off a historical home in East Morris in Litchfield county, CT.

Fully renovated, the retreat has a full kitchen, private off-street parking, and gorgeous deck that offers stunning views. Located conveniently, south of Litchfield, a couple miles from Bantam lake, and just north off of Rt. 84, the Overlook is a terrific location for a relaxing retreat, any season of the year. Hiking, skiing/riding, swimming, and so much more!

The space
The kitchen is a stunning, full-working kitchen with plenty of cooking and dining utensils and stoneware. A Krups Coffee maker is available for Guest use, as well as a cappucino machine, waffle iron, and large lobster pot.
The Living Room has leather sofa, sitting chairs, and a small round dining table for three. The workspace and desk is in the Queen Bedroom.
There is one full bath with a rain shower-head.
The 1 bedroom has a smart TV and full closet and offers beautiful morning light.
Off the back of the apartment is a full deck, communal, for guest use. There is also a Firepit and private mini-barn ("she-Shed") for special dining, outdoor fires, etc.

Litchfield County farmhouse (c.1890) with a modern studio addition and distinctive interiors that feature a number of mid-century modern furnishings. The owners are a writer and an architect who have built a truly unique home full of original art and a large book collection. The property itself is small but it is surrounded by 250 acres of farmed conservation land and a short walk will take you past some of the most scenic farms in Litchfield County.

The space
The house has three bedrooms, a large living room and kitchen, separate dining room, and a kid's playroom in the basement with a ping pong table. Best of all is a big screened-in porch with an outdoor fireplace, family-size lounge seating and a rustic table for outside dining that seats eight. This area is covered by a roof so even in rainy weather the whole family can hang out together outside. The eat-in kitchen is big and well-appointed with everything a chef could need. Outdoor propane BBQ grill is close at hand with a huge outdoor picnic table and back patio that gets lots of sun. We have tons of board games, toys, and books for you to enjoy during your stay. Unfortunately, due to some recent mishaps, pets are no longer allowed.

The sleeping arrangements are such that one family or two couples with kids can sleep comfortably; upstairs is one full bath that serves the master bedroom (king bed) and the guest room (two twins). Downstairs in the private studio wing is one bedroom (queen bed) with a full bath directly adjacent. There is also a half bath downstairs adjacent to the main living areas.
