The house is well maintained, and very well equipped. If you want to venture out for breakfast try Frankie’s on Main Street. Best blueberry pancakes. Visit St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Absolutely beautiful." - "We returned to this property and had the same lovely stay as during our prior experience. Quite retreat."

This 19th Century mountain cabin which sets right on the Famous Pecos River in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Tererro, NM. The Cabin has been studied, dated, and is one of the three original homesteads on the property. This is a true historic site built by my great grandfather in 1867 & maintained by descendants of the original family for seven generations one of the last three original homesteads on the property. The cabin has a kitchen, and dining area with seating for 6. There is one bathroom and one bedroom with a comfy queen bed along with a cozy sitting area. There is one rollaway twin bed. We are pet friendly. There is a $50 fee for each pet you bring. This is an outdoors enthusiasts dream come true. Start by waking up early and having your coffee on the river patio right at your front door, enjoying the view of humming birds, mule deer and turkey moving through the river banks. Enjoy some of the best fly fishing in the world for Rainbow and German Brown trout without ever needing to go more than just a few feet on your own private section of the river. Later before lunch comb the area for arrowheads, fossils, turquoise and silver. The small now ghost town of Terrero was made famous as a busting mining town in the days of the old west. The original mine sets less than a half mile from the cabin across Hwy 63 from the entrance to property. After cooking some of those fresh cold water trout for lunch take a hike up the canyon in the middle of the Sante Fe National Forrest to see elk, eagle, deer, turkey, chipmunk and other wildlife. If the quiet seclusion is too much don’t worry, the town of Pecos is only about a 25 minute ride through the beautiful river canyon. The old Tererro General Store is closed due to Covid. I’m not sure if or when they will reopen. Here you can enjoy other amenities like horse back riding, guided pack tours, and for the sportsman out there guided elk, deer, longhorn sheep and bear hunts. Be sure to check out the Tererro General Store's Facebook page for activities and other amenities. For a more vibrant experience head to the historic town of Sante Fe which is about a 45 minute ride south where you will experience excellent southwest cuisine inspired by native chilies harvested from the area as well as native southwestern art, and heritage. The town also receives its fair share of entertainers from local bars to large scale concerts. Be sure to hit Jacolopes on Cerillos for great souvenirs and the Native Market at 'Old Towne' for authentic southwest jewelry, and art. After a day in town come back to a quiet evening, start a fire in the pit and enjoy the clearest sky you will ever see. The stars are countless and the evening air is cool, just like the perfect fall night, but in summer. At last you will be rocked to sleep by the sound of the rushing river outside. A true paradise awaits you. For interesting reading on the area be sure to look up “Pioneers of the Upper Most Pecos”, and “Beatty's Cabin”.
- "Loved the river and location. Nice area to explore. Thank you!" - "Everything was lovely and as advertised" - "The cabin was cozy, neat & clean, and surprisingly well appointed. It's rustic enough to satisfy that desire, but has been updated with a comfy bathroom, a usable kitchen, a window unit A/C in the bedroom half of the house, a stand fan to pull the cool air to the front room, and a porch big enough for the 3 of us to relax comfortably and to fish off of! The bed is VERY comfy, and the host left us plenty of towels, etc. Seating at the kitchen table is ample; we spent quite a bit of time there. My husband and grandson fished from several places along the property, as well as in the little pond. There are multiple seating areas outside. (I think I tried them all!) We took advantage of all the amenities except for the cast iron stove, opting to use the grill on the porch for almost every meal. There's a cook top, a microwave, a toaster oven, 2 coffee makers, and a small refrigerator (which was bigger than we expected). Sondra, the host, was very communicative before our stay, going out of her way to answer all our questions as completely as possible. No complaints, only RAVES!!"

This cabin does not have a bathroom or shower. It has a double seater outhouse & a camping toilet inside for night use. There is no shower on the property for this cabin. If u want to bathe, I suggest a sponge bathe inside the sink or basin provided. We are pet friendly. There is a $25 pet fee for each pet. This is a Cowboy Cabin back in time. This 19th Century mountain cabin which sets right on the famous Pecos River in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Tererro, NM. The Cabin has been studied, dated, and is one of the last original homesteads in the area. This is a true historic site maintained by descendants of original family for six generations . The cabin was built circa 1860 and is what pioneers called a 'dugout'. A dugout was an efficient way of setting a solid foundation with three of the four exterior walls being embedded in the ground. This helped insulate the cabin and made the structure easy to defend. This cabin is a two room cabin with a cozy studio feel. The cabin is even outfitted with a old time outhouse or as our ancestors called it, a 'powder room'. The outhouse sets about fifteen yards behind the cabin and is the toilet used at the cabin, but if you are a little weary about going out at dark don't worry, there is a camp toilet inside to use. This is an outdoors enthusiasts dream come true, that being said this is not the Hilton Garden Inn. If you want to experience a real mountain getaway and are ok with heating by wood stoves and experiencing life as you would 200 years ago with a few modern conveniences then this is the place for you. Start by waking up early and having your coffee on the patio listening to the flow of the Acequia which feeds into the pond right at your front door, enjoying the view of humming birds and mule deer moving through the river banks. - "Y’all…we had the best stay ever…!!! Absolute hidden gem…GREAT compromise for my honey and I…we could “rough it” but gave me the piece of mind to shut a door from any nighttime creatures that might want to pay a visit if were on a mountain sleeping in a tent…;) Maybe not as “secluded” as we thought (however other guests and host and staff on site were precious and friendly and could visit and each be on our way) BUT definitely an awesome stay and very enjoyable and relaxing time away…!!! I got to chill on the porch or in the swing down by the river while the hubby fished his heart out…!!! PS…don’t let the outhouse aspect to the dug out experience scare you…gotta love a host that makes you feel right at home with EXTREMELY clean (cleaner than some hotels we have stayed in) and decorated romantic two seater…and the hike uphill was no issue at all and just added to the adventure…!!! Total recommend…best nights sleep ever…!!! That dugout is cool and DARK…!!! Darkest dark ever but when time for some solid shut eye…worked PERFECTLY…!!! Thanks for opening up your family’s treasure to share…!!! ENJOYED…!!!"

I will definitely stay here again if I get the chance." - "I loved being able to sit on the porch and watch the world go by" - "This was my third stay at the Pecos Guest House, and it did not disappoint. The location is quiet, and even though it was hot (the July heat wave of 2023!), the mornings were cool and lovely. The close access to the hiking trails of the Pecos Wilderness, not to mention the river itself, is a definite plus! And you can always bop into Santa Fe for all that city has to offer. This private area that was homesteaded by my great-grand parents back in 1867 is very beautiful, secluded and so peaceful. It is a six generation historical ranch settlement. There are three historical cabins in the area. Two cabins are listed through VRBO that can be rented. However, this listing is strictly for tent & RV camping only. You can start by waking up early and having your coffee while listening to the river or the Acequia which travels throughout the property. Enjoying the view of humming birds and mule deer moving through the river banks. Enjoy some of the best fly fishing in the world for Rainbow and German Brown trout without ever needing to go more than just a few feet on your own private section of the river. Later before lunch comb the area for arrowheads, turquoise and silver. The small now ghost town of Terrero was made famous as a busting mining town in the days of the old west. The original mine sets less than a half mile from the property across Hwy 63 from the entrance to property. After cooking some of those fresh cold water trout for lunch take a hike up the canyon in the middle of the Sante Fe National Forrest to see other wildlife. If the quiet seclusion is too much don’t worry, the town of Pecos is only about a 25 minute ride through the beautiful river canyon. The old Tererro General Store has closed since Covid & not sure if it will reopen. However, they may still have horse back riding, guided pack tours, and for the sportsman out there guided elk, deer, and bear hunts. Be sure to check out the Tererro General Store's Facebook page for activities and other amenities. For a more vibrant experience head to the historic town of Santa Fe which is about a 40 minute ride south where you will experience excellent southwest cuisine inspired by native chilies harvested from the area as well as native southwestern art, and heritage. The stars are countless and the evening air is cool, just like the perfect fall night, but in summer. At last you will be rocked to sleep by the sound of the rushing river outside. A true paradise awaits you. There are two community picnic tables that are available if not in use by other guests. There are trails up at Jacks Creek if you like to hike. There are local restaurants like Frankie’s Casanova, Casa De Herrera, the Shell Gas Station known as Ponchos, they have a small grill inside & the little Americana Hamburger stand across from the school has good food if you want to eat out but stay close by in Pecos. Santa Fe is 48 miles South from us which takes about an hour drive and Las Vegas, NM is North from us and takes about an hour as well. There is WiFi to surf the Web, video chat or FaceTime on the property. You are at about 8,123 elevation, therefore, WiFi is not guaranteed due to storms and winds. The nights and mornings are cool & the days are warm. There is always a breeze blowing off the river to keep you cool in the heat of the day. You will see wild ferns, mushrooms & native flowers. There are many different species of birds here as well. You will see the King Fish flying up & down the river. Yellow Finches playing in the bushes by the riverbank. And there are beautiful Eagles, Magpies, Stellar Bluejays, and many other species of birds. They are a delight for the bird watchers. There are many beautiful butterflies and hummingbird moths as well. It states there is one bedroom, half bath and shower only because VRBO listings are set up that way. However, there is NO bedroom or NO bathroom for the camping guests. There is a double seater outhouse on the hill, otherwise, u will need to bring ur camping toilet. You are welcome to bring a camping shower if you like. On the other hand, there is the river to gather water from if needed. There is a large field that has an Acequia flow from the Pecos River that runs throughout the property. You can fish out of that as well. So if you decide to camp in the large field, the Acequia water will be behind you. The camping area behind the main cabin is more secluded and private. For interesting reading on the area be sure to look up 'Pioneers of the Upper Most Pecos', and Beatty's Cabin. We would love for u to come and stay at our historical settlement. Fires r allowed as long there is not a band due to very dry conditions or very high winds. It depends on the conditions that the National Forrest’s put into place. It will have a sign coming up on ur right that will let u know or u can just ask before coming.just come & unplug from the busy hot city. U definitely will get rested & rejuvenated here.
- "Great time, calm and serene experience. Private, beautiful property and great fishing….." - "This spot is incredible. We would definitely stay when we are in the area next time." - "We had a great, relaxing time. The Cabin was very nice with riverfront view and beautiful stream running behind the cabin." - "The large meadow is filled with grasses & flowers and is very peaceful. Perfect for a trailer or RV. The river was flowing a bit fast for my Husbands intended fishing so we went site seeing. Host was very friendly & helpful. Thanks Sondra! We look forward to visiting again."

Welcome to our 100 years old adobe house fully remodeled located at 78 North Main Street, Pecos NM 87552. This adobe house ("casa de campo"), has 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, one of the bedroom is in suite, a kitchen with new dishwasher, new oven and refrigerator, 4 heating/cooling units with a solar panel system. Brio filtration water with hot/cold water dispenser. The house has beautiful natural light including 5 skylights. The master bedroom has a queen bed, bathroom with shower, nightstands, a dresser, a table with chair. The second bedroom in the back of the house has a queen size bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and sitting area and an exit to the patio/deck.
There is a Santa Fe style dining room, large screen TV. There is Wi-Fi and Apple TV (network: LobitoyLaika, Password: lobito87552)
This house has large backyard with a garden, portable liquid propane grill, a canopy, patio table with umbrella and 4 chairs, covered swing chair, hammock and soon a traditional New Mexico "horno" or outdoor oven. There are some big shade trees and fruit trees. We have Pecos river access that has a picnic table, a canopy and a little bridge to access more of the river fishing spots.
For the fishing enthusiasts, the Pecos river, running the whole year, is located only a waking distance, about a ¼ mile away from the house and it is also accessed from the backyard through a gate, past the regenerative farming community garden. We have the authorization from the owner of this parcel, to walk through to access the river for fishing or picnicking.
In addition, during the summer time (May to September) water flows in an "acequia" or irrigation ditch in the back of property.
The most attractive view is the greenery during summer, the mountains around Pecos and nice flowing water on the river.
Our house is located at the "center" of Pecos, and within a mile distance from a gas station, a couple of convenient stores, old houses, high school, old Catholic church, a couple of restaurants, a medical clinic, a fast food places, a veterinarian clinic, a Benedictine Monastery, a lake for fishing recreation, Lisboa fish hatchery and most importantly the legendary Pecos wilderness and wild life.
The city of Santa Fe is located at about 30 minutes with a variety of attractions, restaurants, shops and cultural life. The Santa Fe suburb of El Dorado is located at about 20 minutes away and Las Vegas New Mexico at about 1 hour north. We recommend shopping in Santa Fe as there are no full service grocery stores in Pecos.
- "This beautifully remodeled adobe home was one of the highlights of our trip to the Pecos area. From the moment we drove into the gated driveway and courtyard, with a view of the mountains to the east, we knew this was a special place. The home is spacious, artistic in decor, and very comfortable throughout. The double adobe walls made the entire house soundproof. From the welcoming gift to the well equipped kitchen to the lovely courtyard, our family was extremely pleased with staying here. Would definitely recommend this home!"

Charming and cozy studio just one block away from the Pecos river, and 3 minutes away from Pecos national forest. Jus outside of Pecos village in north Main street. Just let your mind relax and enjoy this beautiful encounter with nature.
- "This super clean studio casita was a peaceful and comfortable retreat! It features a full kitchen with a 4-burner stove and oven, a large bathroom with a deep tub and plenty of hot water, and a cozy living area with a comfy couch, fireplace, and hi-def TV. The WiFi was strong, the street was quiet, and there’s a lovely outdoor seating area with a fire pit and wood provided. Good off-street parking with lots of room. The location is ideal—just minutes from Glorieta Pass and Pecos National Historical Park, and about 30 minutes to downtown Santa Fe. It’s perfect for anyone looking for a more rural setting with easy access to the city. The major highway (I-25) is nearby, so this is a great spot for travelers who prefer cozy accommodations over major roadside hotels and motels. There is no air conditioning, which might be something to consider in warmer months but the nights are often cool in this area. The walk from the parking area to the casita is down a very short, rocky hill that could be difficult for those with mobility or balance issues. We had a wonderful and restful stay, and enjoyed the nearby historical and archeological sights."
