There are covered and wind protected sitting areas in the front and back. This is a beautiful Victorian house built in 1908, with delightful vintage details throughout, and recently luxurious upgrades from top to bottom. It is decorated with French Country theme. The neighborhood is quiet, safe and welcoming. House is equipped with high speed internet (free wifi), flat screen TV, and wash/dryer.

Guests will have access to the entire house and the garden.
Interaction with guests
I am a very easy going person. Every guest will be respected and be cared for during their stay. Absolutely no problem if you break a dish, a glass, or accidentally scratch a table or spill something on the carpet. Things are meant to be used and guests should live freely during their visit.
I live in Santa Clara, 45mins south of Alameda. Not onsite most days, but always available by phone or text, and will give guests immediate attention. My kind neighbors Dean and Stacy offered to help in emergency situations. My grown up son, Sean (25), lives half miles away from the property is able to help as well.

The apartment is close to Webster St (West End) where you can find the farmer's market Tuesday and Saturday, a neighborhood bar, restaurants, coffee shops and public transportation. Buses take you to the Bay Area Rapid Transit , San Francisco, Berkeley or just around this 5x3 mile island. The ferry is 11/2 miles away.

Not far away is the old Navy base, home to the WWII aircraft carrier, The Hornet, with very informative tours, a WWII museum and usually playful sea lions .. Along "Spirit's Alley",in the same area ,are many brew pubs, a couple of wineries, Hangar 1 Vodka, St. George Spirits Distillery, most with a back drop of the SF sky line. The first Sunday of each month Michaan's Auction house hosts a large antiques fair on the old tarmac. This area of Alameda is constantly changing as the redevelopment continues.

This 1885 Marcuse & Remmel Victorian flat is perfect for visiting family or a holiday in the beautiful and historical island of Alameda. Within walking distance to local restaurants, cafes, bars, and boutique stores. Also a 15 minute walk to Alameda beach.

The home is light filled with large Victorian windows and each bedroom has a queen size Tempurpedic mattress. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom. There is a clawfoot tub with a shower head as well as shower handle in the second bathroom. The kitchen is a chef's dream with Carrara marble countertops. The sun room leads out to the balcony overlooking the serene garden. There is a twin size Tempurpedic mattress in the daybed in the sunroom which can accommodate a 5th guest.

We didn’t use the third room which is considered the sunroom, as it opens to the balcony and it doesn’t have any privacy curtains. We liked keeping the balcony doors open while cooking to feel the breeze. The kitchen is every cooks dream. We got to bake two cakes and make some delicious meals. There were some items we needed to purchase (a hand mixer, olive oil and other kitchen staples) but Target is a super short drive away (as coffee shops and other stores). There isn’t a dedicated work space but I used the dinning table which was lovely as there is a lot of windows that open to fresh air and gorgeous landscaping throughout the property. Parking was easy, lots of open spaces on the street and the neighborhood is safe and welcoming. This home is walking distance to the beach as well! Narvin and his cleaning staff was attentive to all of our needs, including allowing us to bring our luggage in at 12 noon prior to check in. Although this space is on the pricier side — it is worth it! If you're looking to have some beautiful memories, this is the place!"

We are a family of four living in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our recently added basement guest room has a private entrance and private bathroom. We have a large backyard with fruit trees, a fire pit and outdoor heater. Alameda is an island city approximately 10 miles outside of San Francisco and just 2 miles from Oakland. Our home is 1.5 miles from a ferry to San Francisco (20 minute ride) and within walking distance of restaurants, shops and the beach.

Please note, the basement has lower than average ceilings and ranges from 6'4" - 7'2". The bathroom is not ensuite, but is private and not shared. Parts of the basement common areas are still unfinished but the bedroom and bathroom are complete with thoughtful touches. Refrigerator, microwave, toaster and coffee maker provided for your private use.

We have one small dog, two cats that live strictly upstairs indoors, and two chickens in the backyard. If you are looking for a high-end hotel experience, this is not it. But if you are looking for a unique experience and a convenient and comfortable place to stay with welcoming hosts, this is it!

The space
**For everyone’s safety, we have in place a 2-day buffer between guests during which time we thoroughly clean and sanitize!**

This 900-square-foot Victorian in-law apartment has many original moldings and built-ins, plus a lovely claw-foot tub for long soaks. The large eat-in kitchen has full-sized appliances, and there is a washer and dryer in the bathroom. In addition to the flat-screen TV, we've stocked the living room with games and books for relaxing times indoors. You'll notice that the apartment stays wonderfully cool in the summer, and has its own central heat in the wintertime.

Guest access
Each bedroom has one comfy queen bed, and there is also a couch/daybed in the larger bedroom if needed for an extra person.

Other things to note
Since we live right upstairs with regular work schedules and 2 big, friendly dogs, and neighboring houses are quite close, there will be noises during the day. Also, I am a professional pianist, so you may hear me practicing or teaching. We all try to be courteous with our noise and ask that you will be too.

Please note, there ARE steps in the apartment -- there are 2 steps down from street level, as well as 2 steps up again into the bathroom, so it's not an ideal situation for guests who use wheelchairs. These steps have not been an issue for the many wonderful families who have stayed with us.

Walking distance to the beach and a walking path by the water. Close to downtown Alameda with over 50 shops, trendy restaurants, and coffee/tea shops nearby. Beautiful kitchen, dining area, and living room.

Being on one of the main streets of the area it was easy to get around. The description was very inaccurate. There was no garage parking like described and in fact there was no parking at all. We had to find street parking which was difficult and spread out. I asked the owner about parking and the spot I was told about was taken. The pictures for the listing were also of a different house so I was caught off guard. Not a huge deal but not how this is supposed to work. The check out process was easy but there were no instructions and the owner gave very basic instructions after asking. I rarely have issues renting through VRBO but I will not stay at this property again."
