Our Chalet offers a large loft Bedroom with a queen bed. Beautiful views of the Mogollon Rim from the bed, and of the National Forest to the back. Downstairs bedroom has full bed. In the living room you will find a wonderful wood burning stove. The living room has incredible views from the cathedral like windows. Kitchen has everything except your food. Outdoor deck is very private with tall pine trees providing lovely shade. Our cabin is located at the very back of the lot right up to the National Forest. It is in a very private setting. If you are looking for a cozy couples retreat, we think you've found it! Note, the Century Link Internet out in the forest is spotty at times. Please don't expect it to work well, and after all it's not why we are up there!

The kitchen/dining area is complete with microwave, dishwasher, disposal, cookware, dishes, utensils, blender, mixer, coffee pot, toaster, etc. Also stocked with flour, sugar, salt, pepper, spices, .--Big table with leaves in hall closet. Good for family or holiday feast. Adjoining patio has table, chairs & BBQ s for picnic style dining.

There are electric heaters under each bathroom vanity in the bed rooms living room and game room. However, the preferred heating method is to sit in front of the fireplace or wood stove with a cup of hot chocolate.

The cabin was completely renovated in 2011 with a strong feeling of the old west.The large stone fireplace along with propane heat keep the cabin warm and cozy. The spacious upstairs loft features queen size and full size beds. There is one single rollaway available for extra sleeping downstairs. Kids love the separate bunk house out back. Kitchen has all the features of a modern home with a dinning table and bar. Bathroom has a shower/vintage claw foot tub combo along with a washer and dryer. All towels, linens and paper products are provided. There is a covered wrap around porch that features views of Myrtle Point, gorgeous pine, juniper and oak trees. Renters can relax around the table on the porch which has plenty of room to enjoy an outside meal. A year round spring attracts wildlife with frequent viewings of elk and turkey. We encourage you to bring your horses -- the riding is fantastic in the Tonto National Forest, which is right through the back gate. There are two 12x12 clean horse pens. Water provided. Renters are responsible for their horses feed and vet supplies.
We do not allow ATVs on the property except during hunting seasons. There is a 4 adult limit.

1. Water in this area is limited and there is no city water access. Local wells provide the water supply and there is a rain water catchment system. Water conservation is VERY important when staying at a remote cabin like this. There is plenty of water, just not enough to waste.
2. Abundant wildlife is also present as in all forests. Don't be surprised to find Elk or other critters living in the forest with you.
3. In this fast paced life we live in now, sometimes it's nice to just unplug and unwind without the distractions of the everyday life. If you must stay connected, there is wireless internet connectivity that can be provided for an additional fee.
4. There are exterior cameras on property. These are to protect our guests, the property owners, and who are we kidding... we like to watch the wildlife from time to time ourselves when we are not there.

The cabin has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and two twin beds in the other. Two bathrooms, both with showers only. We have a futon that turns into a double size bed in the living room. A TV with a smart Blu Ray player is available with a wide selection of DVDs and Blu Rays to enjoy. We also have a phone booster to help using hotspots, no Wi-Fi available.

Looking for an adventure that is romantic or just something different? Come stay at our Comfortable Treehouse that overlooks this captivating private pond. The views are spectacular, and you don’t want to miss the sunsets. This is an adults only property.

We sit in a gated, safe, large private piece of property. Only an hour and a half from the Valley of the Sun, but you will feel like you are a world away, and in the deep South. Nothing like what you would expect to find in Arizona.

Although the Treehouse is small, it has everything you could possibly need, and very comfortable. It includes its own private pier, canoe and paddle boat so you can get to Giraffe Island without any trouble. The island has a floating dock with table and chairs, lounges and an outdoor spiral heater. Perfect for dinner, lunch and fishing or just relaxing.

The 200 square foot covered outdoor living area under the treehouse is the perfect place to curl up with a good book, or to take a nap after hiking up our private Stairway to Heaven Trail. Try going out and finding the petroglyphs, an adventure on its own. Arrowheads? Crystals? Geodes? They are all in the area. It also has a gas fire pit and electric heater for locking in the heat when the curtains that enclose it are pulled on cool days or evenings.

Just outside the gate is almost two miles of the East Verde River to explore. We backup to the Tonto National Forest, so no one is behind us. With the lush greenery and all the additional unique sitting areas, this property truly looks like it was plucked straight out of a storybook. Bird House Patio, Hammock Patio, Hillside Patio, Manzanita Patio, Waterwheel Patio and of course, the Island Patio. There are seventeen mature Willow Trees that circle the spring fed pond, with benches placed around it, for your enjoyment.

With the propane two burner Blackstone Grill, cooking will be a breeze. Sitting on the outdoor patio with a prep station and outdoor sink, what more could you ask for? Want to take a break from preparing meals and cleaning up? There are a variety of fine restaurants in Payson and Pine, …. and we are right in between both of them. 6 miles outside of Payson, and 7 miles to Pine.

The treehouse has a mini split system for heating and cooling, and on the upstairs balcony is an infrared heater the sits over the outdoor bar that overlooks the 2-acre pond. You will have a birdseye view of the ducks, eagles, otters, wildlife and fish jumping on the pond. Yes. The pond is stocked and since it is private, no fishing license is required. From here the sunsets over the top of the mountain on the other side of the East Verde River, and the reflection in the pond is mesmerizing. Don’t forget your camera.

The Treehouse interior has a private bathroom with a sink and a shower. We are a green environment, so the toilet is a modern low flush system. We are also on a gray water system for water from the sink and shower but have well water going into the treehouse, so it is drinkable. We also supply bottled water to get you started in the mornings for your coffee or tea.

There is a sitting area in front of the Arcadia glass door, with a fold out futon loveseat if you prefer separate sleeping quarters. (We know we are going to have those fishermen wanting to stay) but with only being 196 sq ft, we only accept two adult-guests. The treehouse is not suitable for children or pets. Because the pond is like a small lake (and it is not fenced….like a swimming pool) CHILDREN ARE NOT ALLOWED FOR INSURANCE REASONS.

The dining table in the treehouse seats two and is attached to the Queen Size Murphy Bed. It folds up underneath when the bed is lowered.

There is also counter space with a sink, coffee pot, microwave and an air fryer/toaster oven. The roll out counter has all the dishes and accessories you will need, including a small crockpot and ice bucket.

Since we are more like a traditional bed and breakfast, the refrigerator has continental breakfast items such as boiled eggs, butter, power snacks, milk, juices and an assortment or cheese, olives and a meat tray. All are individual size and individually wrapped…. To get you started on this one-of-a-kind adventure.

There are also complimentary pastries, cereal, chips, cookies, crackers ( also individually wrapped). . . and other surprises, along with coffee, hot chocolate, and an assortment of teas, soft drinks, beer and wine.

Downstairs, on the outdoor living room, next to the gas Blackstone grill is an ice chest, for anything else you may need a cooler for.

Treehouse robes are supplied for your use while staying with us, along with beach towels for the hot tub and infrared sauna. If you like resort amities, but prefer a rural, relaxed setting, you will love the Treehouse. Check out the medicine cabinet for anything you may have forgotten. We want your stay to be a memory to cherish forever.

This property requires lots of maintenance. The innkeepers live on the property. There is also another rental on the property if you want to bring two friends or family. It is also a two-person cottage. This property is a 7-acre estate, so they are not close together, and there is lots of privacy. The property is very extraordinary and one of a kind. Its a chain of falls and cool pools. Very much worth the effort of an adventurous hike. Highly recommend it! We also stopped in to the Tonto Natural Bridge Park. A must see and much easier to access. After all of that hiking about, it was so nice to come back to Brenda's to relax and soak out tired muscles in the wonderful hot tub. In all a "tree-rific" experience that we would highly recommend."

Across the lane is the access to Tonto Creek, which is stocked with Apache, rainbow, brook, cutthroat, tiger, and brown trout! Hike along the creek down to the waterfall or lay amongst the wildflowers! If you don't like to fish, bring a small treat for the fish! They adore cheese!

Hungry? Walk down to the Kohl's Ranch Lodge and have the best wood fired pizza and BBQ at Zane Grey (Closed Mondays and Tuesdays during off Season)! Or hand crafted cocktails at the saloon!
Tour the charming grounds or go for a horseback ride while there! Having your wedding at the Lodge? Mention your Kohl's Ranch wedding and you can receive a discount when renting this property for wedding guests!

A few miles up highway 260 is the Mogollon Rim Visitor Center with breathtaking views! This is your jumping off point for Willow Springs Lake and Wood Canyon Lake where you can rent a kayak or fishing boat for a day of lake fun.

If you decide to stay home, there is still plenty of adventure to be found right in your yard. Look for the elk that like to rest amongst the rose brambles on the south side of the yard! Or explore the romantic old double swing or various little sitting areas around the property. Or just sit on the deck and keep an eye out for passing raccoons, javelina, deer, elk, fox, turkey, weasels, all kinds of birds...and even an occasional visit from a mountain lion or bear!

The master features the most romantic skylight for all-night star gazing! An antique window set high in the wall casts a warm glow when the living room fire is going! Skylights offer plenty of light and a glimpse of the ponderosa pines right outside. You can even watch out the kitchen window while prepping dinner for the resident raccoon or elk wandering through the back yard!

In the sunroom: Kick back and read one of the many antique books that describe the local flora and fauna! This room is all double paned windows and insulted; the evap cooler reaches into there and there is an AC in there that you can utilize should you desire. New and vintage/antique games in the cabinet!

The town of Payson, located about 15 miles to the west, offers loads of wonderful restaurants, antique shops and grocery stores. Be sure to grab your groceries on the way up!

Wooden Nickel Cabins offers one of six separate cabins backing up to Tonto National Forest located in charming Christopher Creek, just 20 miles east of Payson AZ. Each cabin has a bedroom, a loft with bed(s), full bath, kitchen includes full-size fridge, stove top range (no oven), microwave, toaster, coffeepot, cookware and dishes.

Playground and Game room + five beautiful wooden cabins are just a mile away from Christopher Creek. Find yourself in cool mountain air surrounded by pines in just a quick 1.5 hour drive from the valley of the sun.
Please Note: There may be a three night minimum on holidays.

Guest access
We have a game room and small playground on-site. Guests can hike into Tonto National Forest right out the back door of their cabin or there are several designated trailheads in the area. Creeks and lakes are accessible in the surrounding areas as well.

Other things to note
Cabins are completely furnished. Each cabin has a bedroom, and a loft with made beds, full bath with towels provided. Living area completed with Wifi access (Password will be provided upon check in), a flat screen tv connected to satellite (please note satellite may lose signal during inclement weather), window a/c, heat. Kitchen with full size refrigerator, stove top range (no oven), microwave, toaster, coffee maker and dishes including: pots, pans, plates, cups, saucers, bowls, and silverware.

1. Forest fires are a great danger to our area, please follow all forest fire protocols and burn day restrictions.

Violation of these fire restrictions is punishable by a fine of up to $5,000 and imprisonment for up to six months. For more information regarding forest recreation sites and fire restrictions on the Tonto National Forest, contact the Tonto National Forest for day-to-day fire information.
2. Guests and visitors should comply with the parking regulations and requirements and must show consideration to other vehicles in the neighborhood.
Onsite parking limited. Please feel free use cemented area for loading and unloading, then please park your vehicle in parking areas available for your use so that the concrete driving area does not remain blocked for other guests on property.
3. Absolutely NO smoking inside of the Cabins.
Designated smoking areas available on back patio and front porch. Please do not leave doors or windows open at anytime while smoking. Please discard of cigarette butts and ashes in the ashtrays provided.
We ask that if you venture off property into the Mountains behind our property that you kindly leave lighters/matches and cigarettes behind, to prevent the possibility of any forest fires starting.
4. Parties and events are allowed on a case by case basis, please inquire ahead.
5. No unregistered guests or visitors allowed.
6. For the consideration of other guests on the property we have implemented a sound ordinance between the hours of 9pm and 9 am.
7. No eating or drinking in bedrooms. Please enjoy your meal in the dining room or common living area.
8. Dispose of garbage in the trash bin.
9. Keep a close eye on your kids at all times.
10. Dogs are allowed. Guests will be charged a pet fee per day per dog. You are expected and required to dispose of your pet's waste and keep your dog on a leash at all times. Do not leave your pet unattended in the cabin. All pet owners must bring their own furniture covers (i.e: sheets or blankets brought from home) if you wish to allow your pets on the furniture including beds.
11. Make sure to turn off the lights, air conditioning, and any electronics when you leave the house. Don't forget to close the windows and lock the door.
12. Report any damages and/or breakages in a reasonably timely manner. Damages exceeding the security deposit amount must be paid by guests and will be reported to vrbo.
13. Wash the dishes, and throw out the garbage before checkout.
14. Check out is no later than 11 am.
15. Rental agreement must be agreed to and signed.

The appeal of our studio guesthouse is not limited to equestrians. Setting is lovely for nature lovers who enjoy hiking, biking and wildlife viewing or just a retreat to the mountains to restore their inner peace. Binoculars and cameras are a must! It is not an appropriate rental for anyone interested in hunting.

Payson is a 15 minute drive from our home and offers lakes for fishing, wildlife viewing to include water fowl and elk, golf, shopping and quaint dining experiences. Mogollon Rim is approximately 30 miles from Payson and offers breathtaking scenery as well as horseback and hiking/biking trails, lakes for boating and fishing, and back country skiing during the winter months.

~ REMARKABLE and CLASSY ~
The ground level studio guesthouse is a separate domicile across from the main house and features one large room with 2 queen beds, a smart TV for streaming and a well stocked kitchen with microwave, Keurig and drip coffee makers, sink and below counter fridge/freezer. Adjacent to the bedroom/kitchen is a private bath with a shower and towels. Soap and a hair dryer are supplied. Extended range high speed Internet is provided. Highchairs and Pack N Plays are available to rent.

Our cozy and comfortable studio guesthouse adjoins the barn which has two 12 X 15 ft stalls. Both stalls are matted and have a fan plus a gate to the turn out area. Additional amenities include a grooming area, wash rack with mats, a private, well appointed, climate-controlled tack room and two large turn out areas. Barn, tack room and grounds are well lit for optimal safety and to facilitate horse care. A 16 x 24 covered shelter for your horse(s) has been added to the lower turnout.

Outside of the studio guesthouse is a covered, built-in kitchen with gas grills, fridge, sink with running cold water and TV. The outdoor kitchen is surrounded by a large gathering area with a dining table and other comfortable seating choices. A wood burning fire pit will warm you when the evenings are cool (and no fire restrictions are in place). Adult neighbors occasionally use the gathering area for small group get-togethers and informative meetings that are quiet and friendly. Guests are welcome to join the fun!

There is ample parking for vehicles and horse trailers at the guest house. There is also parking for an RV with hook-ups for water and septic pump out plus 2 electric connections. RV parking at $45/night includes water, septic and electricity.

This is a ranch in a rural location. Common sounds you may hear are tractors or other farm equipment, neighborhood dogs, chickens, horses, elk bugling, coyotes howling and a host of other noises associated with nature and life on a mountain ranch.

~ HORSE CARE ~
Horse care is self care or for a modest fee we will clean stalls and feed what horse(s) owner provides. Water tanks, ground hay bins and hanging grain feeders are supplied and sanitized between each guest horse. Stalls are packed decomposed granite with mats.

RV hook up is $45/night and includes electric, water and septic.

~ RESERVATION NOTES ~
The minimum age to rent is 28 years.

The names of all guests staying overnight at the property must be included on the Rental Agreement's guest list.

Standard occupancy is 2 guests. If you have more than 2, you must get permission from the home owner to have additional guests. There may be an additional fee per guest.

Violation of any house rule may result in termination of the rental contract, eviction and Guest will forfeit all monies paid, including rent, cleaning and deposits.

AZ Vacation Home Rentals reserves the right to require a refundable security deposit.

All AZ Vacation Home Rental properties have working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

With advanced permission from the owner, friendly, well trained dogs may be permitted.

All TVs are smart TVs and not cable or satellite serviced.

To reach our studio guesthouse you will need to cross a creek which is usually shallow but during or after rain storms requires extreme caution and especially for those traveling in a car.

We are subject to fire/burn and noise restrictions, and occasionally deal with severe weather issues.

For your convenience, the owner resides in the main house. She has over 45 years experience with horse care and will gladly answer your horse-related questions. BEFORE booking your unique mountain experience, we highly recommend you contact the owner directly to review all amenities and details.

We do not have horses for hire.

In the Living Room area is a Sofa Sleeper with a recently Upgraded Full Memory Foam Mattress **Please let us know if you will be using the Sofa Bed so we can be sure to supply the bedding prior to your arrival**, A Large TV and Dining Bar with two Chairs are in the Living Room area. Also included is a Toaster Oven, Antique Style Mini Fridge, Microwave and Sink. Internet is provided. The Historic Main Street in Payson Arizona boasts Antique Shops and other Locally Owned stores, Coffee Shops and Restaurants. This is Rim Country! There are many Hikes and Trails through Ponderosa Pine Forests to Lakes, Springs, Creeks, and even Water Falls. The Tonto Natural Bridge State Park is just 22 minutes away! Visit the nearby Payson Visitor Center for more ideas. Keep an eye out for Elk in the early morning and early evening!

Getting Around:
Walking, Hiking and Driving are the preferred methods to experience this Piney Mountain Town. Along Main Street and beyond, Payson offers Shopping and Dining that compliment your stay with us. Take a 15 minute walk to visit the Parks and Recreation office at Green Valley Park to get your fishing license and enjoy the sunset on the lake. Approximately 20 minutes away, you can choose to visit The Tonto Natural Bridge State Park or Water Wheel Trail. Both are very exciting places for all. We had the whole 7 acres to ourselves, the other rental was vacant! So we got to play in the snow and walk the property! Cute s’mores basket when we arrived. Plenty of linens, dishes, etc. They have a rental right next to the main house, would be perfect to rent out both for a friends or family trip. It is off the beaten path, you take a maintained dirt road for a few miles so make sure you have a car that can handle that. We brought our truck and snow chains. Originally owned by an Arizona state historian, this cabin was his personal retreat—a place to relax and write with the sound of being surrounded by nature.

Inside, you’ll find a cozy, Newly renovated open-concept layout with rustic charm and all the modern comforts: a fully stocked kitchen, soft linens, smart TV, and a living room perfect for card games or morning coffee. Outside, enjoy a spacious private yard with a fire pit, grill, dining area, and a cornhole setup for a bit of fun beneath the pines. Elk are frequent morning visitors, especially near the apple tree out front.

Our home has a country feel to it and is backed by national forest. A guest book is available with maps, trails, pamphlets, fishing spots, etc. Green Valley Lake in Payson is stocked with trout by GFD. Beginning mid-June, the Town of Payson hosts open-air musical concerts at Green Valley Park and also hosts one of the best 4th of July fireworks displays in Arizona. Our residential road has about a 1/2 mile of dirt road.

Very close to national forest for hiking, fishing, off-roading, exploring and bike rides. Also, includes a den with a futon for additional sleeping space. Internet and Wi-Fi included. Plenty of parking for 2-3 vehicles.

43 foot 5th wheel with two awnings and custom stairs on 1/3 acre. 1 bedroom with a standard queen Brooklyn Bedding bed, 3/4 bath with consistent hot water. 2 A/C units, heat, RV stove, full size refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, 2 TVs with blue ray players, electric fireplace, grills for outside, basic spices, serving/cookware, toaster, blender and coffee maker. Tea/coffee.

Close to many trails, swimming holes, Hagler Creek, Christopher Creek and Woods Canyon Lake.

The space
This is a fifth wheel in the woods. Expect bugs and critters. The last 1.5 miles to the property is dirt roads. A little knowledge of how RVs function is helpful. There is no garbage disposal so only water should be going down the sink. Scrape off food and wipe off grease from dishes before washing. There are plenty of paper towels you can use for this. Only use the provided toilet paper for flushing. Never leave the awnings out when not around to monitor the wind. Please carry out your trash and turn off lights. Heater should be reset to 45 degrees when leaving and keys should be put back in the lockbox.

You will need to turn on the water when you arrive and turn it off when you leave. Just move the handle back on the yard hydrant to turn on and forward to turn off. The yard hydrant is on the west side of the fifth wheel and has an orange bucket over the handle.

Keys are in a lockbox by the door. The code will be given to you at reservation.

Perfect space for a pit stop in Payson or stay a bit longer in a cozy room with all the basics. Centrally located, you can access outdoor adventures, shopping, food, or parks in Payson quickly. The bedroom and bathroom were recently remodeled -- luxurious shower, walk-in closet and a beautiful breakfast nook -- all crafted with guests in mind.

The space
One large bedroom with master bathroom attached. Bedroom contains a breakfast nook, food prep area, and a desk for working. House is located on a small hill - you will need to climb 15 stairs to enter the guest area.

Incredible space located at the entrance of the town of Payson, specifically 0.1 mile from the Circle K service station, a very quiet and spacious place with two rooms to rest with the family, as a couple or even alone if you prefer.

The space
This is our primary residence and we live here year-round. Our sleeping quarters are upstairs away from your room, so everyone has space and privacy.

Guest access
The upstairs is for our use only. You'll have access to all spaces downstairs except for the garage and the hall bathroom located next to the laundry room.

During your stay
If we're not home, we will be available by phone during your stay.

While we really enjoy meeting and spending time with our guests, we will give you as much space or privacy as you prefer. We will follow your lead on how much interaction you'd like. 😊

Other things to note
I have 2 very sweet and well-behaved boys, ages 9 & 12. They are typically in bed by 8:30pm and awake by 7am. Before we moved into this house we always had roommates, so they are very respectful and enjoy meeting new people!

We also have 9 hens in the backyard (no noisy roosters). You're welcome to ask us for treats to give them. Fresh organic eggs are available daily.

The downstairs apartment of the Payson House. Located on the boundary of Tonto forest out towards the end of Airport Lane. A 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and open living room with all the amenities you need for a nice couples' getaway. Private entrance with the sounds of our pond as you enter. Heating option in the winter, and A/C option during the summer. Access to hiking the Tonto Forest and surrounding area lakes. Only a 5 minute drive to Green Valley park!

The space
Private entrance with 2 outdoor seating areas for guests to enjoy. 2 TV's, fridge, cook top, coffee marker, and private parking for 1 vehicle. Easy access to hiking trails right at the end of our driveway. Nice views looking over West Payson from a top of the hill.

Guest have complete access to downstairs apartment. Owner have no access to downstairs without coming to the apartments front door.

Also this is a basement apartment that means there is a floor above you which is where we live there might be some noise but we are retired and quite quiet also
Again it is a basement apartment the ceiling height is 6‘4“ so if you’re tall it may not be comfortable
And the last thing is we do have three dogs that are fenced out front separate from the studio entrance just want people to know that we have three dogs that are quite well behaved but may bark
We do live at the end of the street national Forest borders two sides of our property so there may be an occasional elk or Havelina or critter of some sort that they may bark at but if we’re around we keep control of them and if we’re not around we have their bark collars on
