This charming 600 square foot studio/loft is located in a quite neighborhood perfect for relaxing and reconnecting. Your own private entrance leads you to souring ceilings, a comfortable king size bed, perfect for sleeping in a little later than usual. A full kitchen with all the amenities to prepare great meals on the new LG gas stove. Kitchen also has a Large LG refrigerator with ice maker to keep those leftovers from spoiling and quartz countertops. The bathroom is Spa style with walk in shower which features a rain style shower head. A cozy sitting area which boasts an electric fireplace and 43" TV. It’s also a great area for catching up on a good book. A walk in closet for longer stays, a new gas grill sits on a private deck which feels much like your owe private treehouse. You will have full access to all the bedrooms upstairs and down as well as the laundry room. Our home is located just below the Mogollon Rim in the largest stand of Ponderosa Pines in the world. We are in close proximity to the Tonto Natural Bridge and Payson. There are numerous trails for hiking and biking including the Bear Foot, Highline and AZ Trail right outside the front door.

Getting around
We are within close proximity of grocery, dining and entertainment. You can enjoy numerous restaurants, art galleries and shopping. Also close by is Christopher Creek and the Tonto Natural Bridge.

Other things to note
You may be visited by the local elk, white tailed deer and the occasional javelina. You will most certainly enjoy the company of the local finches, red headed woodpeckers, robins and hummingbirds.

This is our home, it is not a rental property. We simply ask that you treat our home with respect and try to leave it as you found it.

Perfectly nestled in the forest in Strawberry, AZ the Kodiak Bunkhouse, Studio Cabin blends seamlessly into its environment. It sits inconspicuously on our 1 acre of property. It is the guest house next to the main cabin.

Walking around the Bunkhouse to the back you will find the gas grill and comfortable patio seating that overlooks the dense forest of surrounding pine trees. Upon entering the cabin you will quickly realize this is not your grandad's hunting cabin. 2 queen sized beds occupy one end of the cabin and an efficient kitchenette resides on the side. The bathroom features a glass shower door with brand new tile. During our winters, you will enjoy the warmth and romantic atmosphere generated by the electric fireplace that sits in front of the futon couch that can easily be turned into a bed. Guests may also use the attached garage, front yard, and backyard as they desire.

- Toilets: the property is on septic (as are all homes in Pine/Strawberry). Please do not flush anything other than toilet paper (no tissues, paper towels, personal hygiene, chemicals, etc.). Other items can go in the trash.
- The second bedroom is tiny, a perfect size for small children or those only needing a second separate sleeping area.
- The weekly trash pickup is each Wednesday (usually morning). If you are staying Tuesday, please pull the trash out Tuesday night. If you are also staying Wednesday, please pull it back in after being picked up.
- Water conservation: water is a precious resource and very limited in Arizona and especially in Pine/Strawberry. Please be careful to not waste water at the property.

Welcome to the Fossil Woods Getaway! Enjoy a cozy retreat from the Phoenix heat in the beautiful Ponderosa Pines of Arizona. Our newly renovated home is 984 sqft with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and sleeps 5 comfortably. It is situated on a nice lot with plenty of space to relax outside. Come enjoy the outdoors, watch the wildlife walk by and cozy up by the fire-pit and make lasting memories!

The space
Fossil Woods Getaway is nestled in the quiet community of Strawberry Arizona, right across from the oldest standing schoolhouse in Arizona which was built in 1885. We are situated on a corner lot, just over half an acre, with plenty of space for games, sitting around a fire, and relaxing. Our driveway is circular and can fit multiple cars, quads, razors, side by sides, bikes, etc. So, bring your off road toys, there are many trails to explore in the area.

Wildlife including elk, javelinas, skunks, foxes, coyotes roam the neighborhood often and do come on our property. Please keep your distance, you will be responsible for all risks and bodily injury that may occur from encounters with wildlife.

We do have a propane grill. If propane tank is empty, we will reimburse you if you fill them up (must provide a receipt). There is a gas station to fill them up down the street in Pine.

In the summer months, we have a swamp cooler to help keep the house cool. Windows will need to be cracked at least 2” to effectively allow cross-ventilation and control of the air flow. It will also help to reduce the amount of humidity and moisture in the home.

In the winter months, we have a central heating. We also have a gas fireplace that can be used year around if need be.

Please be mindful of water usage - Pine/Strawberry are in a severe drought. We are on a shared well, at times water pressure may be low. We should receive prior notice however a water outage might occur for a few hours while the company works on improving outdated infrastructure.

There are a few steps to get onto the front and back deck and into the home. Some of the doorways are not wide enough either. So unfortunately, it is not currently wheelchair accessible.

Casa Blu is your Strawberry mountain retreat to escape the heat, noise of the city and experience the darkest skies in Arizona.

The space
Casa Blu is a 2-level home, upstairs there are 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with a soaking tub, the main living room with large coach and fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen. Upstairs also has a deck along the front edge of the home providing you with beautiful mountain views over the top of the tall pines. The deck is equipped with a BBQ/Charcoal grill as well.

Downstairs you will find another living room with a pool table, a ping pong convertible topper and a Xbox One. On this level there is also a washer and dryer available for your use, the third bedroom and another full bathroom. There is also another patio space underneath the upper deck with rocking chairs and another seating/dining table.

Steps away from the back door is the Bunkhouse (detached) with 2 sets of twin bunks, tv, portable heater, portable air conditioner and closet...a fun place for teenagers or a private escape from company. There are several rocking chairs on the wrap around deck where you can enjoy your morning coffee (provided) and a firepit outback where you can roast marshmallows and be one with nature. There are a few added touches to help make your stay a bit more comfortable such as the tankless water heater for endless hot water on demand, Tuft and Needle mattresses and mattress toppers on all of the beds for an extra cozy nights sleep, and a Cloud foot massager to relax your feet after a day on the trails.

There is an abundance of wildlife including many species of birds, and squirrels. Elk can be seen grazing the hillside and even come right up to the large wrap around deck.

You will be surrounded by trees overlooking Strawberry Valley from the deck and large picture windows. There is a wood swing, hammocks, and comfortable chairs on the deck to enjoy some relaxing porch sitting. The gravity chairs are perfect for taking in the magnificent night sky.

The house and kitchen are fully stocked with everything from an abundance of towels and shower essentials to baking ware and cooking supplies. We try to keep ketchup and mustard stocked, but it is best to bring your own additional condiments. We also provide Artesian Sedona water for drinking/cooking but the water from the tap is perfectly safe.

We have provided a little convenience store stocked with snacks, bacon, local Lyman Ranch beef, fresh homestead eggs and our incredible homebaked cookies. Check the top of the stairs for art and fun merch for sale. Firewood next to the woodstove is also available for purchase.

Let us know a few days before your check-in if you would like to add on smore kits, a fresh loaf of Brioche, your favorite cookies, or special cuts of local beef.

PLEASE INQUIRE ABOUT PETS. This unit is pet friendly. Fees do apply. $75 Per dog (small, medium, large) and/or cat, but please ask before bringing more than 1 pet. We ask that you please do not leave your pet(s) unattended in the house. If you absolutely must, then please bring a crate and keep them in a non-carpeted room. If we know your pup(s) are coming, we provide food/water bowls and at least 1 dog bed, as well as dog blankets for the furniture. There are also baby gates on the wrap around deck to restrict your pets from ranging the full scale of the property. We do ask that (at first) you keep your pups on a leash when bring them outside the house or off the deck.

The rental unit is an entire house located on our property, with its own entrances, garage, dedicated outdoor space and parking. We (the owners) live in a separate dwelling on-site with our friendly dog. So, we're nearby if you need assistance, but you'll have complete privacy during your stay. Our pup, Bean, may greet you upon arrival and likes to make new friends.

The house has 6 exterior entryways.

You will have the entire house including the garage and game room! The only rooms in the guesthouse without access are the 2 utility closets.

ADVENTURES & LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:

Visit Tonto Natural Bridge (7 miles away) and plenty of other trails close by.

Water Wheel Falls (15 miles away) is our favorite easy to access water with gorgeous waterfalls and is great for kids.

If your are ready for a big hike, Bob Bear Trailhead (2.2 miles away) takes you to Fossil Springs and rewards you with beautiful cave of bright aqua blue water. It's 4 miles down hill to the water and 4 miles back up the hill to get out. Water and electrolytes are highly recommended.

The Strawberry strip is just 2 miles from the house. We highly reccommend eating at Fossil Creek Farm, Pie Bar and getting the monster pizza at Momma Joes. Unwind and meet some Strawberry locals at Sportsman Chalet. They have cold beer, a great Bison burger, and the Wineburger also comes highly recommened.

Pine Downtown is just 5.5 miles from the house and offers great options like THAT Brewery, Old County Burger, Old County Inn, and definitely check out the Pine-Strawberry Farmers market open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. You can find our cookies freshly baked from Timberwolf Homestead there! The Pine Creek Lavender Farm is a lovely spot to visit as well. Ponderosa Market in Pine has a large selection of basic necessities, firewood, alcohol, and groceries.

Want to check out a bar in the woods?! Below the Rim Meadery is worth the trip! Be sure to approach from Houston Mesa Rd near Payson. Google can take you on a nearly impassable route through the forest roads.

It's a scenic 1 hour drive to Woods Canyon Lake, where you can rent a variety of watercraft and enjoy being out on the lake. We love to rent a canoe and explore the trails along the shore with our pup. Both Woods Canyon Lake and Willow Springs Lake are great for fishing or swimming off the shore.

Knoll Lake is known for having very clean and clear water. It is a longer, more adventurous trip on a dirt road, but it's one of our favorite spots.

We have 2 cabins sitting on .85 acre of land, backing up to old Fossil Creek. Our cabins are located right off the main road but still tucked away in the forest. The property is completely fenced and furry family members are welcomed. One cabin has 2 bedrooms, 1 with an added bunk room with 2 full beds. The second has 2 bedrooms. There are heaters for cold months but no air conditioning. This is a one if a kind property.

The space
We have owned these cabins for 13 years. You can experience the rim country, beautiful forest, wildlife and the great outdoors! The property is one of a kind and a great value. It has two cabins, both are included in the nightly rate. Our cabins offer plenty of space for one or two families or a group friends. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need if you plan to cook. Feel free to use any items we have left for you. We try to have a few things on hand. (Ex. spices, coffee filters, cooking spray, butter…) The Wifi in the back cabin is weak, so we have a TV with a DVD player available. You can use the laundry if needed, there are supplies in there. We also have some extra items in the laundry cabinets, in case you forgot some personal necessities. There is a DVD library in there as well. We have recreation items/extra chairs in the laundry room and back cabin’s closed patio, use anything. Just return them to their places. We have a grill out back that is attached to our propane tank and a fire pit that uses firewood. There are BBQ tools in the mudroom in the front cabin. Use caution when using the fire pit to avoid an out of control fire. In the dry season, guests may not be allowed to use it, based on the forest service restrictions. Smoking or vaping is not allowed in the cabins or patio areas. Fire extinguishers are located in both cabins under the kitchen sinks. The house runs on a well from good old mother nature, so please be conscious with water use. We leave a heater going in the laundry room to keep the well warm during the winter, so please do not turn that off. This is a quiet neighborhood with permanent residents so we observe quiet hours starting at 10pm Sunday-Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Thank you!

You have access to the entire property except the garage and tool shed. These areas are kept for storage and cabin maintenance. You can park vehicles and trailerson the rock areas. If you are bringing any ATVs, please do not drive them on the grassy areas of the property. RVs or pull campers are not allowed on the property.
