We also ate in the restaurant which was lovely and made use of the bar. The Space:
The first floor is of open plan design with exposed ceiling beams, comprising of a large and very modern fitted kitchen with NEFF appliances throughout, including a large integrated fridge freezer and dishwasher. The large lounge enjoys views over the rear garden and also over the front of the Cottage. Fully equipped with a large Smart TV with Netflix included, B4RN superfast Rural Broadband and WiFi (throughout the cottage), portable Bluetooth sound bar, board games, books and also a large dining table with 4 chairs.

The ground floor has the main entrance, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. In warmer weather there is nothing better than a picnic by the River Lune and a stroll along the banks of the river towards Devil’s Bridge, infamous for motorcyclists, walkers and cyclists.

Ingleton with the White Scar Caves and Waterfalls Trail can be reached in 10 minutes by car. The opposite direction offers Kendal, the Gateway to The Lakes and Windermere.
Casterton Golf Club and Kirkby Lonsdale Golf Club are both within easy reach and minutes away with their excellent courses.
The local pub, The Pheasant Inn, is just a two minute walk away, serving excellent food along with a great beer garden, perfect for summer evenings.

The property dates back to the early 1800’s when Cowan Bridge School / The Clergy Daughters’ School relocated to the site more recently known as Casterton School. The building became accommodation for the pupils of Casterton School prior to a recent merger with Sedbergh School. Full renovation was completed in 2019 to its present immaculate standard.

In 1824, Charlotte Brontë and her sisters attended Cowan Bridge School, known as The Clergy Daughters' School.
In 1832, the school relocated to Casterton which offered a larger Estate.
In 1921, this school merged with the neighboring Low Wood School, becoming known as Casterton Independent Boarding School. The old Low Wood School was renamed Brontë House in commemoration.

In the book Jane Eyre of 1847, Charlotte Brontë depicts her own time at Cowan Bridge by naming it Lowood. The Property:
You will enter the property via the bright, glass ceilinged dining room with a 32" Samsung TV (equipped with a Now stick) and a wifi booster providing powerful Sky broadband throughout the property. Please note that there are also USB sockets in all rooms. There's plenty of seating at the large farmhouse style dining table. This then leads you up to the fully equipped kitchen, ready for any adventurous cooks in your party. It is equipped with a microwave, double oven, ceramic hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher (a few dishwasher pods are provided) and washer/dryer (a few laundry pods provided) and also contains a wood burner (no wood is provided but this can easily be purchased locally). The kitchen then leads through to the Lounge equipped with another wood burner, Sky Glass TV, Blu-ray/DVD player and an Amp/CD player.
On the first floor you will find a large bedroom with twin beds (these can be joined together to make a super king -please make sure you clearly request this when booking if required) and a family bathroom with bath, mains shower, toilet, basin and towel radiator.
The second floor has two bedrooms with king sized beds and a shower room with toilet and basin.

You will have the property to yourself.

The Area:
Only six miles from the M6 and conveniently located for access to both the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District national parks, the ancient market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is famous for its hospitality. With a variety of restaurants, cafés, takeaways, lively pubs selling award-winning and locally brewed ales and the famous Lunesdale Bakery right in its centre. There are many other award-winning pubs and restaurants dotted around the surrounding countryside, some of which get booked up very quickly, so we advise you secure your reservation as soon as possible.
Along with its many and varied shops, Kirkby boasts a branch of the amazing northern supermarket, Booths, selling both the finest picks of local produce and all your familiar supermarket brands and open until 10pm every night and 4pm on Sunday.

Transport Links:
Although Kirkby Lonsdale is surrounded by the green countryside typical of the South Lakes and Dales, it is well connected to local transport. There are mainline railway stations at Lancaster, 16 miles away and Kendal (Oxenholme), 13 miles away. The M6 junctions 35 and 36 are within 6 miles and the A65 from Kendal to Skipton runs right past the town. There is a regular bus service (the 567) between Kirkby Lonsdale and the lovely town of Kendal and services 80 and 81 from the City of Lancaster and continuing up to Ingleton in North Yorkshire.
Kirkby Lonsdale is often used as a base for cycling tours into the surrounding countryside and the truly spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park.

Parking and EV Charging:
There is parking in the shared courtyard for one car. This is accessed via a width and height restricted cobbled archway from Market Square. Please note that the archway is not suitable for some SUV's, vans or wide vehicles (wider than 2.08m inc mirrors). It is your responsibility to ensure the access is suitable for your vehicle. Further paid parking can be found in the Market Square, at Booths Supermarket or in the New Road Car Park.
Jo & Richard have just installed an EV charger for your convenience. The charger is located on the wall beside the property's parking space. It is 'untethered' and requires a type 2, 7kw single phase charging cable which is not supplied. Electricity will be supplied at 37p/kwh and will be calculated at the end of your stay via their 'myenergi' app. Alternative charging points are also available at the local Booth's supermarket approximately 3 minutes drive from the property. Please notify us if you intend to use the EV charger during your stay so we can share the charger's PIN number with you.

Bike Storage:
A small lockable shed is available which you can use to store your bikes out of the weather. The code for this is in our Guest Manual.

Dogs:
A well behaved dog is welcome, however they must be kept to the ground floor of the property and off the soft furnishings. Please do not allow your dog to foul in the courtyard, a note of nearby dog walking routes is included in the Guest Manual. Food and water bowls are provided but please ensure you bring your own bedding and towels for your dog.

Check-in and Check out:
The property is set up to allow remote access with easy self check-in meaning that no direct contact with anyone is needed.
Please note: Check-in is from 16:00 and Check-out is before 10:00

We Provide:
We provide a selection of complimentary teas and coffees, oil, salt and pepper, kitchen roll, cling film, tin foil and greaseproof paper as well as a washing-up pack, oven gloves and tea towels. The consumables should last at least a couple of days. If you do need to top up your supplies there is a Spar just two minutes walk along Main Street where you will be able to do this.
We also provide locally made hair and body wash and hand wash in refillable aluminium bottles from Bath House and some cleaning products in case you need them while you are visiting. The cleaning products can be found under the sink in the kitchen.

Additional Fees/Charges:
A pre-authorisation charge of £100 will be applied to your credit card 24 hours before checkout as a damage deposit. This will be automatically refunded if not needed 10 days after checkout.
A £50 charge will be requested if you check out or check in up to an hour outside the set times without prior permission and an extra night's rate for any time greater than this.
There will be a £50 call out fee if keys are locked inside the property and a £100 fee if keys are lost or not left in the key safe on your departure.
Parties are strictly prohibited.
Hot tub hire is strictly prohibited.
Extra guests are not allowed unless you are advised otherwise.
Respect for our neighbours is much appreciated so we ask you to keep the noise down between 10pm and 7am.
Please note that check in time is from 4pm and check out is before 10am. Unless you have advance approval for an early check in or late check out, these will be charged at £50 for up to an hour and an extra night's rate for any time greater than an hour.
One dog can be accommodated but they must be kept to the ground floor of the property, off the soft furnishings and must not be left alone in the property.
A fee of £100 will be charged if the keys are lost or are not left in the key safe upon departure. We will also charge a callout fee of £50 if you lock the keys inside the property.
Please leave the property in a similar state to when you arrived and lock all doors and windows.

Arnside is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The front of the house offers beautiful sea and fell views. The promenade and train station are 5-10 minute walk . Arnside Knott forms a backdrop to the house which is in a quiet friendly residential setting.
The room forms an annexe to the house and is affectionately known as `The Beach Hut`. It is on the ground floor with it`s own private entrance and shower/toilet room. We are a child and dog friendly family.

The perfect single room for a working stop-over or break from a longer journey. Recently refurbished with new carpet, wardrobe, cabinet and laptop work desk. Modern, well equipped bathroom has bath/shower with toiletries and towel provided. Very occasionally, our double room will also be booked so the bathroom would then be shared. THIS IS VERY RARE and we would let you know before booking.

In the room there are choice of teas and instant coffee, and if you would like fresh coffee we are happy to make one down in the kitchen. For breakfast we provide cereals including our home made granola.

The WiFi is free and ample. There is a hairdryer and the room is centrally heated and has a lock for your privacy.

RSPB Leighton Moss and Silversale train station only 2km away. We are happy to collect guests from the station.

The space
We have a delightful double bedroom in a two bedroomed bungalow in the beautiful village of Silverdale. We love to give guests the benefit of homely accommodation at a reasonable price.
You will have your own private double bedroom (new bed). The kitchen/dining room and bathroom are shared with us. You will have your own mini fridge with tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Guests are very welcome to join us in our living room for coffee and a chat or to watch TV. Our home has an excellent wifi connection. There are a few bars and hotels in the village where you can go for some great meals.
We have a small Co-op supermarket less than one km away where you will also find a cash machine (ATM). There is also a butcher, chemist, coffee shop and a post office in the village. A number of larger supermarkets can be found in Carnforth.
Your bedroom is to rear of the property which is very quiet and tranquil.
My husband and I are very quiet and friendly, you would be sharing our home with us. There is currently no TV in the bedroom, guests are very welcome to use the TV in the lounge.
Please note, I do not have extra bedrooms so I regret I cannot accept enquiries for more than two guests.

Welcome to our charming place to stay on the edge of Ingleton. Our cosy bedroom is the perfect base for exploring Ingleton and the Yorkshire Dales. Wake up to stunning views of Ingleborough from your comfortable 4' double bed with a good quality memory foam mattress. Fresh clean linen, towels and an extra fleece throw are included.

The room includes wall-mounted units, side tables with drawer and shelf, a hanging rail for clothes and a towel rail. Various teas, coffee, hot chocolate, dairy, oat milk and biscuits are provided in the room, along with a kettle and glass water bottle. The bathroom, which is always kept clean and tidy, includes a shower and bath and is shared with the owner.

There are plenty of wall sockets with USB ports. I don’t have a TV licence at the property. However the TV monitor can be plugged into your laptop via HDMi cable (provided) to watch Netflix/Amazon Prime etc. Also compatible with a Firestick.

If you want to venture further afield then the Lake District is a 40 minute drive from the door step.

We are happy to arrange specific times for guests to use the bathroom and accommodate their requirements.

Guests are welcome to use the kitchen facilities for preparing drinks, snacks, and light meals. The kitchen is fully equipped with plates, cutlery, glasses, a microwave, kettle, toaster, and fridge/freezer.

Relax outside and take in the beautiful scenery from the charming front patio or the cozy back terrace with stunning views of Ingleborough. There are table and chairs at the back of the property where guests can enjoy a meal or a drink.

17th century period farmhouse having been recently vamped up ready to welcome guests to give them warm happiness. In an area of outstanding beauty surrounded by many lovely walks and RSPB nearby .Silverdale beach and Arnside within easy reach and Windermere , gateway to the Lakes approx 25 mins drive. Bus stop and railway station also nearby. The village pub only 10mins walk from house making this the perfect Airbnb place to relax in every way :)
