Ingleton is a fantastic base for walking, climbing, potholing, cycling and even caving in the nearby White Scar Caves. A few miles’ drive out of Ingleton is the village of Clapham. Here there is a fantastic nature trail that passes by a lake, through mature woodland, surrounded by spectacular limestone before reaching Ingleborough Show Cave. The trail takes you to Trow Gill and past Gaping Gill, Britain’s largest pothole, eventually bringing you to the summit of Ingleborough.
If you want to explore further then take a trip to Hawes, famous for the Wensleydale creamery where you can book a tour and shop for cheese to your heart’s content! The old market town of Kirkby Lonsdale is just under 7 miles away and is great for fine dining, traditional pubs and cafés as well as boutique shopping.
Being located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, you can reach the south of the Lake District National Park within 30 minutes as well as the west coast of Lancashire. There is something for everyone within easy reach. Beach 21 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

About the property

Kirkby Hideaway is a contemporary two-bedroom cottage in the centre of a thriving market town and features a stylish mezzanine living space that maximises the views over the Barden Fell. This impressive property has been architecturally designed and is adorned with opulent interiors and striking décor to create a unique and memorable stay for friends and family. The town centre location means there is a selection of shops, pubs and restaurants, plus walks from the doorstep, while the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks are both within easy reach for great days out.

The space

As you step inside the property, you will be greeted by a stylish entrance hall with vaulted ceilings, skylights and a split staircase leading to the mezzanine level. A striking chandelier made from wine glasses takes pride of place and sets the scene for the rest of the abode.

Both bedrooms are on the ground floor with king-size beds, Smart TVs and ample storage space. The master bedroom has a modern en-suite with a rainfall shower and a built-in TV. Meanwhile, the second bedroom has access to the Jack and Jill bathroom which features a shower over the bath and a further built-in TV.

The first floor is split into two wings which are divided by a lower lounge with two comfortable chairs so you can admire the striking views over the Barden Fell. To the left, there is a bright and cosy living room with an L-shaped sofa, a Smart TV and plenty of board games to keep the whole group entertained. To the right, there is a fully-equipped kitchen with a four-seater dining table, combination oven/microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge, freezer, wine fridge and coffee machine.

Outside, there is a bistro set at the front of the property so you can relax in the sunshine with a glass of wine in hand and absorb the atmosphere of the pretty market town.

There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double sleigh bed and a small second bedroom with a single bed and a toddler bed.

We are just above the shops on Arnside Prom - close to pubs, cafes, a chippie and shops. There are endless glorious walks on the doorstep, great wildlife and places to explore.
With its quick access to Kendal and the South Lakes, Arnside is a hidden gem of a place.

Yew View has recently been fully renovated to a very high standard and is situated at one end of our 17th Century house. We are located in the lovely, quiet village of Over Kellet in North Lancashire and are only a short distance from the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales. We are ideally situated to explore all of these beautiful areas and are just 3 minutes off junction 35 of the M6.

The space
The accommodation is accessed from the front of the house and is all located on the first floor of the property. The stunning views across the countryside towards the mountains of the Lake District can be enjoyed from the living accommodation and bathroom. The lounge and the bedroom are situated to the rear of the property and overlook a quiet and peaceful courtyard. Visitors are free to enjoy the front garden of the house, taking in the views.

We are keen to ensure that the property stays in excellent condition for all visitors and therefore have a no pet and no smoking policy and ask that you kindly bring your slippers to wear inside. The site dates back to the early 1800’s when Cowan Bridge School / The Clergy Daughters’ School relocated to the site more recently known as Casterton School. The building became accommodation for the pupils of Casterton School prior to a recent merger with Sedbergh School.

In 1824, Charlotte Brontë and her sisters attended Cowan Bridge School, known as The Clergy Daughters' School.
In 1832, the school relocated to Casterton which offered a larger Estate. 
In 1921, this school merged with the neighbouring Low Wood School, becoming known as Casterton Independent Boarding School. The old Low Wood School was renamed Brontë House in commemoration.

In the book Jane Eyre of 1847, Charlotte Brontë depicts her own time at Cowan Bridge by naming it Lowood. As mentioned, the Casterton School was formed in 1921 and the old Low Wood School was renamed Brontë House to commemorate the Brontë Sisters.
