This late 1700s canal side cottage is located within the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.

Finsley Gate Wharf was once at the heart of Lancashire's Industrial Revolution and was granted over 3 million pounds for a total regeneration, completed in September 2021.

The cottage, once the turnbridge keeper's home, is part of this regeneration and has been lovingly restored into a modern, quiet, yet centrally located guesthouse, a great place for reunions with easy access to local attractions.

Our late 1700s 2 storey cottage is a very grand version of a large, detached
2-up 2-down house.

We have divided the guesthouse into 4 rooms - 2 en-suite bedrooms and 2 large suites. This is a small unique guesthouse with just 4 room options. Like a hotel, all rooms have locks and you are also given a key to the cottage and the gate to the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.

DESCRIPTION: The Buck En-suite Double Room, Sleeps 2

The Buck En-suite Bedroom is located on the first floor, it has new wooden flooring, a built-in wardrobe, and a desk/dressing table with mirror, hairdryer, lamp, and extension lead for charging phones and laptops. There are tea and coffee-making facilities with mugs, tumblers, short glasses, champagne glasses, wine glasses, and a fridge with a freezer.

The new, minimal white bathroom leads off from the bedroom and has complementary TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner, Source shower gel, and handwash. Please note, there are plenty of spare toilet rolls in the cupboard under the sink.

Bed linens and towels are provided.

House Rules:
- Check-in time is 1pm and check-out is 10am.

This late 1700s canal side cottage is located within the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.

Finsley Gate Wharf was once at the heart of Lancashire's Industrial Revolution and was granted over 3 million pounds for a total regeneration, completed in September 2021.

The cottage, once the turnbridge keeper's home, is part of this regeneration and has been lovingly restored into a modern, quiet, yet centrally located guesthouse, a great place for reunions with easy access to local attractions.

Our late 1700s 2 storey cottage is a very grand version of a large, detached
2-up 2-down house.

We have divided the guesthouse into 4 rooms - 2 en-suite bedrooms and 2 large suites. This is a small unique guesthouse with just 4 room options. Like a hotel, all rooms have locks and you are also given a key to the cottage and the gate to the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.

DESCRIPTION: The Pemberton Suite, 2 Rooms With En-suite, Sleeps 2

The Pemberton Suite has a new wood burning stove installed. We can set up the fire, supply materials, and clean it the next day for a service fee of £25 a day. Please make the request when you make the reservation.

Fabulous accommodation, a jewel in the crown, a unique space for romantic times for 2. These rooms are also known as our Bridal Suite, a real gem of a place to stay.

Located on the ground floor, there are 2 adjoining open plan rooms and a bathroom. The largest room of the Pemberton Suite, which would have been known as 'the front room', has the original stone floor and a large open fireplace. We have a long table with benches that can seat up to 12 guests (when the entire cottage is booked for a larger group), there is also a desk/dressing table with a mirror, hairdryer, lamp, and extension lead for charging phones and laptops.

The split-level bedroom is entered via a large open-plan archway that leads from the front room. The bedroom comprises 2 built-in wardrobes, a double bed, and 2 bedside tables. There are also tea and coffee making facilities with mugs, tumblers, short glasses, champagne glasses and wine glasses. We have also installed a fridge with a freezer.

The new, minimal white bathroom leads off from the bedroom and has complementary TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner, Source shower gel and handwash. Please note, there are plenty of spare toilet rolls in the cupboard under the sink.

Bed linens and towels are provided.

Check-out is at 10 am, guests can take advantage of the brunch menu at Finsley Gate Wharf which is served from 10 am, a good start to the day before heading back home.

It would have been even better if I'd had my own rental car but I was reliant on my family to drive me around, so there were some slight disadvantages for my situation. The gate and key situation was a little fiddly to figure out and I'd recommend the owner include some photos with their instructions - which do make sense once you've figured it out, but arriving at night was a bit frustrating having only a written description. The small shop that was described as in walking distance from the compound has either closed since the listing was created or perhaps the owners of the shop were on holiday when I was staying, but I was rather relying on being able to buy some essentials when I arrived and I couldn't. The property has a restaurant but that doesn't open until 11am. There's a bar in the restaurant and one of my brothers and I had a drink there and it was pleasant enough. We didn't sample the food, but there were some events being held on two of the evenings while I was there and it seemed quite popular (not noisy or disruptive though). The room has a small fridge and a kettle only, so don't expect to be able to self cater any meals. It's more like a hotel room than an apartment. For some reason in the particular unit I was staying in (there are two on the upper floor and two at ground level) there was a long table and bench seating that could probably seat 12 people. It wasn't clear what a guest would use that for."

This late 1700s canal side cottage is located within the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.

Finsley Gate Wharf was once at the heart of Lancashire's Industrial Revolution and was granted over 3 million pounds for a total regeneration, completed in September 2021.

The cottage, once the turnbridge keeper's home, is part of this regeneration and has been lovingly restored into a modern, quiet, yet centrally located guesthouse, a great place for reunions with easy access to local attractions.

Our late 1700s 2 storey cottage is a very grand version of a large, detached
2-up 2-down house.

We have divided the guesthouse into 4 rooms - 2 en-suite bedrooms and 2 large suites. This is a small unique guesthouse with just 4 room options. Like a hotel, all rooms have locks and you are also given a key to the cottage and the gate to the grounds of Finsley Gate Wharf.
DESCRIPTION: The Sparks Family Suite, 2 Rooms With En-suite, Sleeps 6

This is an ideal room for family and friends. It is clean, modern, very comfortable and has been lovingly restored.

Located on the first floor, there are 2 rooms and a bathroom. The largest room of the Sparks Suite has new wooden flooring, a built-in dining table that can seat up to 6 guests and 2 sofa beds that can sleep up to 4 guests. There are tea and coffee making facilities with 6 mugs, 6 tumblers, 6 short glasses, 6 champagne glasses, 6 wine glasses, and a fridge with a freezer. There is a desk/dressing table with mirror, hairdryer, lamp and extension lead for charging phones and laptops, there is also space for hanging and storing clothes.

The bedroom is entered via a door with steps leading into the room. The bedroom comprises 1 built-in wardrobe, double bed, and 2 bedside tables there is also an additional desk/dressing table in this room.

The new, minimal white bathroom leads off from the bedroom and has complementary TRESemmé shampoo and conditioner, Source shower gel, and handwash. Please note, there are plenty of spare toilet rolls in the cupboard under the sink.

Bed linens and towels are provided.

- Check-in time is 1pm and check-out is 10am.

- There are free parking on premises parking facilities available at the property.

Or a romantic getaway. Walkers will be spoilt for choice with fantastic places to discover. After a long day of adventures relax on the annex balcony with stunning views. There is an outside private sitting area included. The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, kettle and toaster

The space
The annex is open plan. Through the french doors you will enter the living and kitchen/dining area. The living room has a sofa a Smart TV with access to prime and Netflix. At the back of the annex is an extremely comfy double bed with bedside cabinets. There is plenty of space to walk around the annex. The bathroom is in a separate room within the annex with a toilet, sink, good size shower and a heated towel rail.

The hard shell hot tub (new for 2025) with seats and loungers is situated outside the French doors to the annex and is totally private with beautiful views. Guests can watch the wildlife and star gazing while relaxing in the hot tub.

Guests who wake up early can enjoy a beautiful sun rise. Watch the hares in the field, the roe deer and even our local barn owls.

On site parking is available on the property of the driveway. Access to the annex is through a side door into the main garden and up a set of steps to the balcony.

There is also a delivery afternoon tea service available through a local cafe. 24 hours notice is required.
