Only gripe that it is painted in such dark colours - black or very dark brown woodwork everywhere. It could be a bit noisy outside but that’s not the fault of the hotel. - "It’s a great stay for family will deffo book again " - "Stayed in the Powdene House apartment. So it was a good, central location. It's kept quite clean, and it's very good value given that it has 3 double-bed rooms. Travelling at the end of November, so it was very cold but there are decent electric heaters in each room. The shower is very weak, though, and they don't provide shampoo or shower gel. On the negative side, there is no parking provided. The listing mentions "Self parking on site (GBP 5 per day)", but they ask you to park at The Gate multi-storey, which is £17 per day and about a 5 min walk from the apartment. They also ask you to pay the security deposit via a link which they send you by email, and they add you to a Whatsapp group to communicate and for you to submit some photo ID - this all feels dodgy and I wouldn't normally recommend sending money via unverified links you receive via email. They didn't answer the phone number they provide on hotels.com, or answer the messages that I sent to them via hotels.com, so I wasn't able to verify their identity and in the end I had to take the risk to be allowed access to the apartment (you can use a credit card, so in the worst case you can issue a chargeback). Despite that, they are pretty responsive on Whatsapp, and speaking to them on there they are helpful and were nice. The security deposit I sent via the unverified email link was returned after 4 working days, so that was fine in the end. "

Sometimes there were spaces to park on the same road as the apartment but only illegally parking on the pavement as the road is too narrow. Other times, there were no parking spaces at all in the vicinity of the apartment. Very unusually, a £100 security deposit was demanded before the code to the lock-box was provided and this was paid into an account in Dubai which sounded like a scam but the £100 was returned eventually.
