A cosy 3 bedroom home, close to Castlebar town centre. The house would made an ideal base for a couple, small group or family looking to explore beautiful Mayo.

The space
A cosy family home in a quiet neighbourhood close to the centre of Castlebar and all local amenities. The house would suit couples, solo adventurers or a small family group.

The house is situated on a large green area which extends down to the Castlebar River. The green contains a wonderful playground, a smaller toddler playground and enclosed AstroTurf area for soccer, basketball etc. You can directly access the Turlough/Westport section of Great Western Greenway via a footbridge over the river.

Downstairs you'll find a comfortable sitting room with a solid fuel stove, TV, games, books etc.

The kitchen/dining room is recently renovated and includes all mod cons apart from a clothes dryer. Teas, coffee, breakfast cereals and some cooking essentials are provided.

The house has two double bedrooms. The third bedroom has a small single bed (85cm by 170cm). There is one family bathroom with bath/shower.

We stay here ourselves with our two little girls so the house is well kitted out for travelling with small children. We have stairgates, a travel cot, a microwavable steriliser, a high chair, some toys, colouring materials and a parent operated tricycle.

There is a large enlosed garden to the rare of the property. There is off street parking for 1 car at the front of the property. You can also park on the street but be mindful of not blocking a neighbours driveway or causing an obstruction.

Unfortunately we have no WIFI in the house at present. Or fortunately if you prefer a bit of a technology detox! But it's important to note in case you're hoping to work while travelling or if you have teenagers who can't survive without it!

The room is situated at the back of the house and has two beside lockers with lamps. There is a chest of drawers, with a large fitted wardrobe, hangers and a large window looking out onto the back garden with the countryside in the background (cows graze in the fields near the property in the summer time.)

Castlebar is situated on the West Coast of Ireland. We are the county town of Mayo. The Wild Atlantic Way route is less than 15 miles from Castlebar (Westport) We are 45 minutes from Ireland West Airport. There is a population of 8,000 (approx.) We have a train station (5 minutes from my home by taxi) and a bus station (2 minutes from my home by taxi) connecting to national routes.

The guests will have access to the whole living space including full use of the kitchen. Should you wish to cook I'll be happy to offer you a specific area in the fridge etc. There is no extra charge for cooking or food storage. The premises is a typical 3 bed roomed semi-detached family home. I also provide a guest room key and house key during your stay.

I'm happy if guests decide just to have a relaxing day lounging around the house if they decide to do so. When at home I work in my bedroom/office, on-line as a golf blogger and social media commentator.

No. 58 is a very cosy two bedroom mid terrace house opposite McHale Park (GAA) in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. The downstairs living area consists of a kitchen/dining, sitting room, work station and utility leading to an enclosed rear yard where one can bask in the sunshine and relax ! McHale road is a very friendly community in a cul de sac and is a 15 minute walk to the town centre with shops, pubs and entertainment. It is also a 10 minutes walk from the train station.

"I'd live here myself" was my friends initial reaction when he first visited the house in 2020. It’s a cosy and welcoming house, tastefully decorated and inviting. The solid fuel stove at the heart of the house draws you in and radiates a comfortable and intimate feeling of “this is where I want to be right now”, leaving the world outside. Charming 4 bed house with an abundance of space and all the comforts of home and more! Set in peaceful surroundings the house is located just a 10 minute drive to the picturesque town of Westport and less than 5 minutes to Castlebar so everything you need is just a short spin away. It's a great jumping off point for visiting the surrounding scenic areas of Mulranny, Newport, Achill, and Belmullet to name but a few.

The house is easily accessible by car, train or from Knock Airport.

The space
The house is tastefully decorated and can comfortably sleep 10 people with 4 lovely bedrooms (1 king with a small sofa bed & 3 double). The den/office has a daybed which converts into a comfortable kingsize. The downstairs bedroom comes en suite and the main bathroom is also downstairs with a further shower room upstairs.

The open plan kitchen/living area comes with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is a lovely, bright garden room off the den/office which leads out into the back garden. This room can also seat 8 people for dining. The house has 2 open fireplaces, one in the main living area and one in the den/office. There is a utility room with laundry facilities, an iron, microwave & mini fridge.

All bed linen and towels provided are 100% cotton and of very high quality. I have plenty of books if you are an avid reader and some games & colouring bits for children. I really enjoy the space I have created here and hope you do too!

It's recommended guests have their own transport. There are lots of local taxis but for your own convenience it's easier if you have a car.

Other things to note
If you are fond of the outdoors this is the spot for you! You can cycle the greenway from Westport to Achill stopping off at Mulranny and Newport along the way. If you are an avid hiker/hill climber Croagh Patrick is not too far away. There are also many beautiful beaches to visit including Bertra, Old Head and Carrowniskey with paddle boarding and surfing available. You can also take a boat trip to Clare island or Inis Toirc from piers outside of Westport. Moore Hall and Westport House are also lovely spots to visit for walks.

Westport and Castlebar have lots of excellent restaurants, bars and cafes so you won't be short on places to eat! Alternatively, there are lots of big supermarkets close by if you prefer to eat in.
