Topline… the place is well past its sell by date and the interaction with the hosts - Saas Holidays - wasn’t great. On arrival we had our apartment number on our booking and told the concierge on the phone. He said that he didn’t have the booking reference so as long as we had the number on our booking to enter the apartment. We then got a call about three hours later saying we were in the wrong apartment and somebody else wanted it. This is actually incorrect because we had that apartment number all the time on our booking it just so happens that another family wanted the ground floor because they were staying longer and it was going to be easier for them. Would be happy to change if we’ve known all of this, but we’d already left our things in the apartment and gone off for the day . During the day the property is very very dated shower enclosure very small and the shower pretty poor. The beds are not necessarily comfortable either. What really got me annoyed were the posters on the kitchen cupboard saying that if you didn’t put the cups away and leave the kitchen tidy you would be fine. Fr.75. There was also a fine for not putting all your rubbish in the tax bag which you buy yourself. As a final insult we were told to check out by 9am because they were busy!!!"

- "The place is currently 20 feet from a major construction site (Next Door). The construction workers started everyday at 7:00 AM and lasted almost until 7:00 PM (19:00). In the morning you get "wiped off your bed". We think that it is very unfair that the responsible for this site posting did not indicate anything. No one wants to go to the Swiss Alps to be bothered with heavy noise everyday. We complained about it at the local tourist office where we have been informed that this construction is already in the works since more than one year... Except this, the apartment is ok, very simple, but the kitchen offers everything one would need, it had even a Raclette Oven which was a highlight to us. We recommend this place for times without construction and Saas Fee administration offered free passes for Cable Cars and local Buses as a special Off-Season Promotion which is very generous. You can safe lots of money with that program. "

Haus Cresta occupies an elevated position just above the village centre giving fantastic views of the skiing area and glaciers. It is located just off the main nursery slopes but is only a 2 minute walk onto the main street where you will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. The apartment has recently been completely renovated with a new bathroom,kitchen, new beds and new windows making it very warm and cosy in winter. The lounge has a large sofas, satellite TV, DVD and wifi available. 2 double bedrooms, one with an additional private balcony. Fully equipped kitchen with door onto the main balcony and bathroom with bath and separate shower unit. There is plenty of storage space in the apartment as well as a boot room on the ground floor to store skis and boots.

We had Christmas dinner at the Waldhüs Bodmen in the woods, a 20 minute walk down a beautiful snowy woodland path (Narnia lamp posts all the way). They have camels, llama and room full of bunny rabbits, it was magical! The owner and staff were lovely too and put together a specific menu for us. A small practical point, its a good idea to book a ski locker at the bottom of the ski lifts or wherever you're taking kids for ski lessons so that you don't have to trudge around town carrying equipment around, taxis are few and far between. Cesar Sport at the Spielboden lift area (where all the lessons set off from) have plenty of lockers. All in all a great holiday! "

The house Holiday is centrally located in the glacier village Saas-Fee. The 4 bedroom apartment is comfortable and very cosy. The apartment lies on the first floor facing south, yet not on the road and offers a wonderful view over the alpine world of the mountains more than 4000m high. The kitchen with dining area is well equipped. A TV including local channels, which offers a lot of interesting information, is in place. The apartment's location is very central. All shopping facilities, post office, bank, grocery store, bakery and pharmacy are right on the doorstep. The cable cars are 5-10 minutes away from the house. Also the bus stops are nearby. If the weather is bad, there is a cinema and a recreational centre only a few metres away.
Hiking trails during summer:
The hiking trail Zuckmayer in Saas-Fee: this hiking trail was laid out 1996 in honour of the writer Dr. Car Zuckmayer. 5 serpentine stones quote Zuckmayer from his speech in celebration of his naturalization in Saas-Fee. Starting from the house Vogelweid, his former residence, you climb up to the Bärenfalle, from where the path leads to the Melchboden and the cafe Alpenblick. Afterwards, you follow the forest path down to Saas-Fee passing the Hohnegg. Walking time: 2 hours. Promenade Alpenblumen, Saas-Grund: Edelweiss and gentian - these are only 2 of the approx. 240 flower breeds that you can admire on the promenade Alpenblume from Kreuzboden to Saas-Grund. Not all of them are in bloom at the same time. Yet based on information boards with pictures you can visualise them else way. Walking time: about 3 hours.
Toboggan run:
Tobogganing like a streak of lightning: Jumps, 360 degrees roundabout and curved jumps are the typical features of the toboggan run Feeblitz. Since September 2000 this unique attraction enriches the town. The toboggan lift goes to the Alps' highest roller coaster - a leisure facility, which is integrated into the amazing landscape and offers fun as well as adrenaline for the whole family. Insiders agree: Who does not try this has to blame himself, because the Feeblitz guarantees leisure time fun for young and old, mummys, daddys and children. And: Not seldom, it are the fathers who cannot get enough of the rapid curves on rails. It is no surprise, after all the fun already begins during the way up. The apartment is in a traditional chalet situated on a hill just above the village center with a fantastic view of the village and the surrounding mountains. Being above the village means you get much more sun as you enjoy the panoramic views from the south-facing balcony.
Excellent location for skiing and hiking! The cozy 1-bedroom apartment is close to the slopes, walking distance to Stafelwald. With good snow it is possible to ski directly back to the apartment (you need to be a good skier).
Modern fully equipped Getaz-Miauton kitchen, convertible sofa bed with a proper mattress, stunning views of the mountains, 5-minute walk to the beginner slope that connects to the larger ski area.
PLEASE NOTE it is a steep climb up back to the apartment from the city center. Its only 500m but it is steep and you will be rewarded with the best views in Saas-Fee, e-taxis are available throughout the village for heavier luggage or skis.
Tourist taxes are not included in the rental price.

The view from the balcony is breathtaking; a lovely spot to relax in the afternoon sun after skiing.The apartment was v clean and worked really well for us (the kids had the bedroom and we had the comfy sofa bed). The kitchen was really well stocked and we cooked most nights. The only tiny (and I do mean tiny) flaw for us was the lack of a tin opener!Raveena is an excellent host and was super helpful especially when I had several questions both before and during our stay. The 3 smaller towns of Balen, Grund and Almagell are located in the valley and, due to two of their own, very sunny ski resorts (Hohsaas in Saas-Grund and Saas-Almagell ski area) and a continuous cross-country ski trail as well as numerous (winter)hiking trails and mountain bike trails between the towns and the Mattmark reservoir, offer numerous opportunities to spend the winter and also a quiet but also a varied and sporting holiday here throughout the summer.
Ideal for guests is the direct connection of all 3 places via a free post bus to Saas-Fee (only valid for the owners of a Saastalcard provided to our guests) directly up to Saas-Fee. So you can actually leave the car while on vacation. For more information on the Saastalcard, see below.

Full disclosure: Like many mountainside chalets in Saas-Fee, our studios are NOT accessible via taxi/vehicle. From the road, there is a 2min walk uphill (stairs) to reach the building. While the walk is not long, it is steep and can be tough when carrying lots of heavy luggage. This shouldn't be a problem for most people (esp. if you've come to ski or hike and are in relatively fit condition), but we would not recommend it if you have mobility challenges.
