We ate in the restaurant one night and had breakfast both days. It’s not cheap (this is an exclusive part of Switzerland after all) but it was pretty sensational. The free access to the ski lifts, which comes as part of the hotel price during the summer, was a very pleasant surprise. We took full advantage. All in all we would fully recommend the hotel both as a romantic getaway but also as a place for (well behaved) children."

Hotel staff are generally very courteous and efficient, with one older exception. The hotel is up a hill, quite far from the main ski-lifts, and was less easy to find than I thought it would be. Saas-Fee is car-free and has almost entirely electric transport (apart from key utility vehicles). These are based on small electric vehicles like milk-floats. The hotel has one such taxi and transfers to local car-park and bus garage, but not from there to the hotel on arrival. The hotel is generally very quiet, and adjacent to a small ski-lift, separate to the main ski slopes, and does not link to the main ski slopes. During the stay, skis and boots are kept in a ski-room in a sister hotel, the Saaserhof, that is ski-in-ski-out (potentially). The resort has a highly cost-effective season ticket."

This is an issue if you might arrive late or want to leave your bags in the morning after checking out. The hotel is absolutely serious about wanting you to contact them before you arrive to confirm your arrival time although the email they sent to me had no return email address. The bed (although not the pillows) was comfortable and the hot water and wifi both worked well. In-room safe was not large enough for a computer. In contrast to many smaller Swiss hotels, there's scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast. My room had a great view of the mountains. The staff were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. In contrast to some Saas-Fee hotels, my Saastal card was already printed when I checked-in. If you leave luggage, it is left in the bar area so there's no real security for it. "

Would be happy to change if we’ve known all of this, but we’d already left our things in the apartment and gone off for the day . During the day the property is very very dated shower enclosure very small and the shower pretty poor. The beds are not necessarily comfortable either. What really got me annoyed were the posters on the kitchen cupboard saying that if you didn’t put the cups away and leave the kitchen tidy you would be fine. Fr.75. There was also a fine for not putting all your rubbish in the tax bag which you buy yourself. As a final insult we were told to check out by 9am because they were busy!!!"
