- "My family and I fell in love with this penthouse apartment the second we opened the door and saw the 180° view of the surrounding mountains and Lake Sarnen. The apartment had a smart layout design and was equipped with all the appliances a family could want for a short visit. At one point, we were craving a cappuccino with frothy milk and it turned out, Marcel had a frother! There were dozens of other details like this that surprised us. Location was a good fit. First, the apartment is a short walk to the lake, town and a sporting venue with soccer fields, running tracks, and even a dock where row teams launched their long boats in the water. Marcel also gave us a solid list of grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries and other spots to visit in Sarnen. Second, the town of Sarnen was also nicely situated for day trips to Interlocken, Stanserhorn, Lucern, and other surrounding villages and towns. We also appreciated the modern amenities like the single press-of-a-button to open/close state of the art blinds that wrap around the building. The mountains greeted me every morning and was the last thing I saw before bed. Every window frame look like artwork. Marcel was amazing. VRBO screwed up big time by not informing him that I made the deposit a month earlier. Fortunately, the flat was still available and Marcel bent over backwards to make sure I have the keys and everything we needed. I’ll be returning."

The patio areas were our favorite, overlooking the mountains and Lake Lucerne. Kitchen was well stocked with plates, glasses, cookware, and some spices. Regular coffee pot, and Nespresso machine. There was toilet paper and hair dryer supplied, but we purchased paper towels for kitchen, and soap for bathrooms, along with bringing your own shampoo, etc. The only negatives were bath towels were well worn, no washcloths provided, and euro pillows were quite flat. Also only duvets on bed, no top sheet that we are used to using in US. Would also appreciate fans to use for warmer nights. Property manager met us at unit, to show us how elevator worked, and answer any questions we had. We did have a rental car, due to there being switchbacks to get up hill to unit, but only used it to get to start of public transportation. We purchased a summer tell pass and used for all transportation, including at the numerous mountains we went to. Train station in Stans, only 10 min drive, with all day parking, and numerous bus stations in Ennetburgen. Believe there is a small parking lot with no limit, along Stanserstrasse street bus stop. Otherwise up to 3 hour limit at others. If we ever return to this area, would love to stay here again. "

Discover our charming alpine hut with Säntis view on the Alp Ell, situated in the idyllic moorland of the Rietbach in picturesque Toggenburg. This fully furnished hut can accommodate up to 10 guests and is ideal for families or groups of friends looking for a break in nature without missing out on the comforts of home.

The interior of our hut offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. It has an electric cooker with oven, fridge with freezer compartment and a cosy wood-burning stove. Comfortable nights are provided by a Keihütten bed in one room and three beds and a dormitory mattress in the other room. The mattresses provided are covered with fitted sheets, woollen blankets are available - you bring your own sleeping bags and pillows. The recently renovated bathroom is equipped with a spacious shower, and entertainment is also provided thanks to a radio. Furthermore, you will find a large table with a corner bench and a cosy sofa in the living room, next to a fully equipped kitchen with enough crockery for all guests.

Outside the hut, you will find an inviting seating area with a bench set and barbecue area - the perfect place to enjoy the view and the fresh mountain air. The hut, situated at 1100 metres above sea level, is surrounded by meadows and forest and offers a magnificent view of the Säntis and Speer. The surrounding meadows are farmed organically by us, the Schmid family, with suckler cow husbandry. The cows and calves spend the summer on a high alp in the Glarnerland and on the Unter Bächen alp in Ebnat Kappel. Organic meat and flour can be purchased directly from the farm.

The surrounding area offers a wide range of activities for nature and sports lovers. The moorland path leads right past our hut and invites you to enjoy exciting barefoot experiences. A stopover at the Wolzenalp restaurant with its large playground is also highly recommended. Whether it's an easy hike or a challenging mountain tour on the Speer - the varied surroundings offer numerous opportunities for outdoor activities. Mountaineering, ice skating, mountain biking, skiing (alpine), cross-country skiing and much more awaits sports enthusiasts in the surrounding area. In the winter months from December to March, the hut can be reached by chairlift from Krummenau. From the mountain station, it is 300 metres straight ahead to the hut on Alp Ell. The railway offers a luggage transport service from the mountain station to the hut for CHF 30. Please note that the last ascent with the chairlift in the winter months is at 4.00 pm. If your arrival time is outside the opening hours of the cable car, we offer transport from Krummenau to 500 metres from the hut for CHF 30 per journey if possible. The rest is on foot.

The village centre of Urnäsch and the railway station are just a few minutes' walk away. Life here is characterised by living traditions, such as the New Year's Eve celebrations, yodelling and Alpine descents.

The Appenzellerbahn railway takes you from Urnäsch to the picturesque Appenzell or the cantonal capital of Herisau, for example; towns such as St. Gallen or the nearby Säntis massif with the Schwägalp are easy to explore by car.

There is also a separate WC on the ground floor.
