The only criticisms I have are related to the decor and amenities. The decor used to be very warm and cozy, but after the pandemic it was updated for a very modern, sharp-edged style that I like less. Years ago there was a pool and that was awesome, but it's no longer there. And I miss the microwaves which also disappeared after covid. But I've been to plenty of other local accommodations and this one's still my favorite. "

It is a homey kind of feel. We used the dishes and used the sink for daily washing. This apartment is right in the middle of a busy street. So it is pretty lively until after midnight. Just know that going in. I loved it, some may not. OK Sonder the booking experience. I have read reddit reviews. This is a model where there is no front desk. YOU ARE HELPING MOTHER EARTH: This location employs more energy-sustainable and environmentally-benign practices. For example, all trash is recycled; recycling bins are located a few feet from the studio condo's main entrance (no smell). Also, more environmentally-benign cleaning solutions, soaps, and detergents are used to clean the studio condo in between guests. Cleaning cloths are used for cleaning and then sanitized in a washer; (this approach avoids using zillions of paper towels for cleaning and then throwing them away, a cleaning approach that is bad for the environment.) A portion of the furniture and accoutrements inside the studio condo are reused items that would have otherwise been thrown out but were instead repurposed, repaired, cleaned, and ‘made new’ again through 'elbow grease'. It is almost always better for the environment and energy sustainability to 'reuse, reduce, recycle.' Some items were 'freecycled' and other items were purchased used from local neighbors. For example, the ceiling light in the foyer & lamps were 'freecycled.' Where necessary, new items were purchased (such as with the dishwasher, microwave, etc.).

SECURITY: The unit is security-protected by two coded locks at the entry, motion-activated video surveillance at the front door, key-entry only to the entire building, & manned 24-hour security at both vehicle entrances to the complex.

FOYER: A small foyer (i.e. entryway) is shared with the owner. You may occasionally see or hear the owner in the foyer. The studio is behind a coded locked door leading off from the foyer.

PARKING:
Up to one (1) outdoor parking space is available on-site for free within a secure parking lot with 24 hour manned security. One can park almost anywhere above ground in the outside, surface parking lots where there is not a 'restricted' or 'reserved' sign. No parking is allowed in the garages or under 'restricted' or 'reserved' signs . You will be given a parking pass to put on the dashboard of your car. Please park outside where there is NO *reserved / restricted sign* at the parking space. (The reserved /restricted parking spots are often for elderly and/or handicapped full-time residents so that they can access the building more readily.)

ACCESS: Drive ~5 min to I-395 & ~10 min to I-495. Easy access to Washington D.C., Old Town Alexandria, the new Amazon campus, National Harbor in MD, & anywhere along the beltway or metro.

PETS: No cats, dogs, snakes or large animals. Small, caged pets such as hamsters, guinea pigs or fish are allowed, as long as they remain caged.

CHILDREN: No children or infants allowed as the space is not baby-proofed, toddler-proofed, or child-proofed.

COVID-19: Between each guest, the unit is cleaned rigorously with cleaners & disinfectants, as well as virus-killing UV light, & all COVID-19 precautions are followed. The unit is cleaned with both cleaner and disinfectant and allowed to air out for hours with fresh air from the window before the next guest's arrival. UV light, which kills viruses, is also shined on all areas of the property, including, but not limited to, the bathroom, walk-in closet, vanity, hallway, bedroom, and inside kitchen equipment. Fresh, clean air is pulled into the unit via open windows, fans and HEPA air filter devices. All linens are washed thoroughly with hot water and environmentally-benign soap / detergent. All in-person interactions with host are with a mask, face shield, and gloves. A rigorous check list is followed to clean & disinfect the unit between guests.

CHECK-IN: Guests can choose between (1) meeting the host in person to check-in or (2) a contactless check-in, in which the guest is messaged detailed directions for checking in on the check-in day.

Unless otherwise specified, Check out is 12 pm, and check in is 2 pm. You are welcome to leave your bags in the room before the check in time.

We do provide clean linens and towels and extra blanket. If you wear makeup, please remove it before you go to bed.

No frying please. After cooking, please clean the stove and the cooking area. Please clean kitchen after you cook or eat.

No cooking between 10 pm to 6.30 am. Please keep the noise down during that time.

The space
Walking in the front door, you'll find:

• A fully equipped kitchen to your left, featuring an electric stove 🍳 and fridge, utensils 🍴, plates 🍽️, pots & pans 🍲—ideal for any cooking needs.
• As you navigate up the stairs 👣📶, the bathroom 🧻 is straight ahead.
• Turning to your left, you'll see the first private bedroom 🛏️,
• Followed by the office room equipped with a printer 🖨️ and a coffee machine ☕.
• The office room leads to the second bedroom 🛌,
• Then just beyond this room, you'll find the third bedroom 😴.

You are able to access your private bedroom, shared kitchen, and shared bathroom.

During your stay
I am available in the back unit of the property. I do my best to bring in guest mail and packages as many have courteously done the same for me and other guests. For any concerns, please communicate with me via the app.

🛏️ Shared Space Notice:

Please note this is a shared home. Your room is private and lockable, but you will be sharing common areas (kitchen, living room, bathroom) with a maximum of 2 other person(s) on the unit. We strive to keep these areas clean and available for everyone’s use. If you are looking for total seclusion or a hotel experience, this may not be the best fit – we want our guests to be comfortable with a home-share environment. We kindly ask all guests to be mindful of one another, especially in shared spaces.

🚗 Parking Information:

We can provide a guest parking pass for your stay — available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you're driving, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to let you know the pass's availability. Alternatively, you can register for a temporary pass directly with the Fairfax County Permitting Department to accommodate your vehicle during your visit.

Guest passes are reserved for a guest only for a confirmed booking, prioritizing guests that have requested in advance.

A $150 fee will be assessed for a misplaced or lost parking pass due to replacement and administrative costs, and inconvenience to other guests in need of a parking pass. Thank you for your understanding.

🔇 Noise & Neighborhood:

This is a respectful household and we enforce quiet hours (10 PM–7 AM), but normal living noises do occur. You might occasionally hear others in the home as they cook or do laundry. Likewise, we ask you to be mindful of noise, especially at night. The neighborhood is residential and generally peaceful. Any noise complaints from neighbors due to rule violations could result in Airbnb intervention.

🧺 Laundry Access:

While we do not have laundry machines inside the house, there is a convenient laundromat within walking distance—you can get there in about a brisk minute walk. It’s a great option for self-service laundry.

Too busy? The laundromat also offers pickup and delivery services through their app, so you can have your laundry handled without leaving the house. For any specific laundry arrangements or recommendations, feel free to reach out—we’re happy to help.

🛡️ Safety & Security:

For everyone’s safety, we have exterior security cameras monitoring the home’s outside entryway (no interior cameras). There is a fire extinguisher in the kitchen for your protection. Please secure your valuables; we are not responsible for lost or stolen personal items. (We’ve never had an issue, but it’s good practice.)

✅ Acceptance of Rules:

By confirming a booking at our home, you agree to abide by all the house rules and disclaimers noted here. We kindly ask you to read these carefully. If anything is unclear, please ask – we’re happy to explain (it’s better to clarify now than have an issue later). Any violation of the agreed-upon rules can result in your reservation being canceled early, with no refund, as per Airbnb’s policies. We really want to avoid that – so when in doubt, just communicate with us.

🛠️ Issues and Maintenance:

We pride ourselves on providing a clean and well-maintained space. We document the room’s condition with time-stamped photos before check-in to ensure everything is in order. If you notice anything amiss on arrival, please inform us within 24 hours so we can address it promptly. During your stay, if something breaks or isn’t working right, let us know immediately. Prompt communication helps us fix problems quickly and keeps everyone happy. We’re here to make sure you have a great stay, and we can only fix issues if we know about them.

⏰ Last-Minute Bookings:

We do our best to accommodate all guests, including those who book last minute. However, please note that same-day or next-day bookings may not allow us sufficient time to fully refresh the room and common areas before your arrival. Even if the space was recently cleaned, we usually prefer a little buffer time to do final touch-ups and make sure everything is in top condition. If you book on short notice, we appreciate your understanding that the home may not have been cleaned the day of your arrival. Rest assured, we will try our best to schedule our cleaner as soon as possible if needed. Thank you for your flexibility and for helping us maintain a comfortable space for everyone!
