- "We had a wonderful stay here. Super close to the ski area. Only drawback was the noise from upstairs, you can hear all the footsteps in the room above you as the floors are very thin. Definitely get the rooms on the 2nd floor if you can!" - "amazingly cozy and clean. very quiet being the off season which was just fine." - "My friend, our two dogs, and I were touring Oregon. I booked this online and couldn't have been happier with the accommodations. We had a cabin that backed up to the open field. The dogs loved smelling all of the new scents, we loved hiking around the property. We took advantage of the well maintained BBQs and made our own steaks for dinner and a night cap at the tavern to end our stay. "

- "With our third Thanksgiving holiday at this home...it is home and a tradition we are very attached to. We hope to be able to continue." - "Wonderful place to celebrate my parent's 60th wedding anniversary. The house was beautiful and well stocked with plenty of space to gather and also spread out when people needed a little space. Loved our long weekend there. Thank you!!" - "This is a beautiful space in a beautiful place. Everyone had room to be alone when they wanted and there was plenty of room to gather together too. We loved the hallway for putting on and removing all the gloves, snow pants and hats. It doubled as a playroom too. We had the good fortune to arrive while there was only a little snow then Mother Nature just buried us in over 2 feet of snow in just over 24 hours. We were grateful that Kathy had the driveway plowed... While we have snow tires, our cars do not sit high enough to clear the amount of snow we saw!"

- "Great place! Beautiful view! Well prepped! Hope to be back!" - "This is a very special place. Well equipped kitchen, great location, modern interior design, could not be happier. Best VRBO that I have ever stayed at." - "Secluded, peaceful, inspiring views, best equipped home I have ever rented. Will be back!" - "We had a great time at this house. It has spectacular views, wonderful spaces for hanging out with large groups and it was really well stocked. One of the greatest perks was actually having two dishwashers. You don't realize how fast you go through things when there are 7 of you. It only takes 15 min to get to Hood River and ab out 5-10 min to wonderful farms and a sweet local market. I highly recommend the Hood River White House where you can get a flight of ciders to sample. The only downside is when the TV stopped working (froze). I called the agency that manages it around 5pm and by noon the next day I still hadn't heard anything. Around 3pm I called them back. After that I got a text in broken English telling me to do what I had already told the operator didn't work (unplug the tv and plug it back in, but the plug is inside the wall). If this happens to you, the breaker box in the downstairs laundry room (there are two of those as well) connects to the TV. We will definitely go back!"

- "This was the perfect place to stay to attend a wedding at The Orchard. The view of Mt. Hood from the deck was a fabulous place to drink coffee. The property is quiet and peaceful. Parkdale restaurants and the coffee shop are great. Will stay again." - "Perfect location! Quiet and very well appointed - fantastic fireplace that was super easy to use. Plenty of space and beautiful updated kitchen. We would definitely stay again." - "We came to watch the meteor shower from a dark and quiet location, and this lovely home did not disappoint. The house was immaculate, with a marvelous array of old photos, art, and literature (including wonderful plant guides and cookbooks). The property sits on a grassy hillside, with a well-placed firepit at one end. The rest of the property is densely wooded. Although there is a creek at the bottom of the property (which makes a delightful sound), the trail to get there is overgrown in spots and can be a bit tricky to navigate. That said, we loved all the birdlife, the raspberry and veggie garden, and the gorgeous flowers and lavender. The owner, Marketa, was a joy to work with. Our only real criticism, and this is a matter of taste, is that the beds were a little on the soft side, but overall this place is a real winner. The breathtaking local views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams are truly unbeatable."

- "Lovely house in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Wish we could have stayed longer." - "Very nice home. Plenty of room for our large group and close to both the mountain and Hood River. We had a minor difficulty with the heat and the owner and VRBO reps were very helpful." - "My family loved every aspect of this home. We got to enjoy the unexpected beauty of snow. We spent time in the game room, hot tub and watching movies." - "Everything was as advertised, very clean and very comfortable. We found just about everything we needed there, and the lack of a stove and oven was kind of strange, but they provided enough cooktops, burners, a large toaster oven, and the grill, so it really wasn't a problem. Privacy was not an issue either, as you remain very separate from the other folks who live on the property. The hot tub was awesome, the decks were great... Overall an excellent stay. The only drawbacks were a lack of cutting boards, unless maybe we just didn't find them, and some minor noise issues. On our arrival night, there was a large party on a nearby property with loud music that went until about 11 PM. We actually found it fun, and were informed that it was unusual, but something to consider. Also, there was some landscaping and construction on the property while we were there. Again, not a big deal and minimally disruptive, but some folks might want to know that."

- "A group of 7 friends shared a most delightful time at the Svendsen Lodge. It was perfect accommodations for our restful, private "girl time". Serene, wooded setting provided the peaceful get away along with the well-appointed kitchen, gathering rooms and large dining table for games and meals. - "We loved our time at this place. It has the most incredible view of Mt Hood and is surrounded on 3 sides by a pear orchard so is tucked away, peaceful and quiet. The place is great too - very nice kitchen, bathrooms and living space with fireplace. Mount Hood/Parkdale has the cutest little town and great hiking tails everywhere. Check out Oakridge for amazing hiking with dogs." - "We rented this cabin for a month during Covid, and found it to be the perfect setup. Our farm boasts an amazing view of Mt Hood and a lesser view of Mt Adams, 7 full well-appointed bedrooms, a great entertainment center with wet bar, and is a wonderful jumping off point for hiking and biking, the small town of Mt. Hood Parkdale, and the 'Fruit Loop'. You’ll love our place because of the outdoors space, the views, the location, and the recreation opportunities. Our big farm house is good for multiple couples, families (with kids), and groups. Per county regulations, we can only consider inquiries of 30 days or more.
The space:
It's a great big farm house - perfect for groups (up to 16), family vacations, any decent size get-together. Featuring a large open kitchen and living room, 2 master bedrooms, a queen bedroom, a bedroom with two twins, another with a full bed, and double bunk beds in each basement bedroom - this place is ready for a whole bunch of folks. Our close proximity to hiking and skiing and Hood River means it's a sweet place to jump into fantastic Hood River recreation and enjoy the wine, cider and fruit that our lush valley has to offer. Big TVs on main floor and in basement make it a great place to watch a big game or a movie. Relaxing in the living room or on the side patio with Mt Hood looming over you is a great way to unwind at the farm house.
Guest access:
Guests have full access to the farm house itself - all rooms and 2 of the garage bays (out of 3). Full laundry room, kitchen with large subzero fridge, huge basement with entertainment center and wet bar. All are invited to enjoy the grassy lawn, and further walk around the farm as long as owners/partners are not actively working the fields. Feel free to take pictures with the classic red barn, but please do not enter without chatting with us first.
Interaction with guests:
When the house is rented we won't be super close - but within an hour if there's an emergency, and very available by text, phone and email. Guests check themselves in and out without owners present.
The neighborhood:
We share a drive with a neighbor on the hill, so you may see him roll by (we'll let him know you're there). Other folks in the neighborhood may wave and say hello as well, it's a close knit area. Despite this, the property is pretty remote - you'll generally feel well away from the rest of the world and hopefully use the space to unwind between hiking/biking/skiing.
Getting around:
No public transportation - must have a car. In the winter, 4 wheel drive is recommended.
Other things to note:
